Our view was aaaammmaaazzziiinnngggggg!!! We were looking for something right off the beach and there it was. The room was very nice, as well, clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend. My only negative was regarding customer service. The front desk staff and concierge weren't welcoming and didn't seem to have good customer service. However the janitorial staff were very nice and greeter all the time.
Everything was wonderful There wasn't anything we didn't liked
Room hadn't been cleaned so we were moved to a lower noisy floor. Parking was terrible. Won't stay here again. could have had such a better experience at any competitor
Rooms were clean, Staff friendly and professional. "Oceanfront" is misleading. The room I got was across the street in an older building with no ocean view. Rooms in the older building are open access with little to no security presence. I would have paid more to go to the main Best Western building if rooms were available.
We had a group of 13 year old girls here for a birthday party, the general manager was nice, we had a lot of people and they didn't have any larger rooms available so they let us stay. Service is horrible, housekeeping at night refused to accommodate with towels and blankets, said she was limited to only 4 but at the front desk they gave as many as we needed and the housekeeping gave even more the next morning. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but the tables were dirty and when I asked one of the ladies if she could wipe off a table for me she said "in a minute" and did something else. We sat somewhere else and she returned when another family tried to sit at the table and asked to have it wiped, then wiped it and warned that it would be very wet. The hotel is old and has a sticky feel to it, I will not be coming back.
Great location and helpful staff Breakfast line was crowded and long, ants in the room, room occasionally smelled like smoke, restaurant staff was loud and annoying, elevator was broken, extremely small bathroom.
Housecleaning was very courteous. The hotel catered well to all types of folk. Obviously being 4th of July, parking was a little rough but the hotel took care of us.
Great location, hotel was quiet. We didn't pay for ocean view room but go one anyway. Breakfast was not bad either. The hotel was on the older side but it worked for us. We were 3 friends looking to getaway from our small children for a weekend ;)
Being on the oceanfront
Only scolding hot water for showers. Room door was open upon arrival, maintenance supply in bathroom but no maintenance person in sight. Front desk was quick to deal with that issue but didn't fix hot water
Great location. Beautiful beachfront rooms. Staff was extremely courteous, and always happy. Everyone from the front desk to walking past maintenance. Rooms were well kept and clean. It is worth the extra emphasis to say that the rooms were clean, as it is very important to many people. My room was exactly as pictured. They did not use a "model" room for the pictures. Within walking distance to dozens of great restaurants. Front desk has a lot of deals and discounts on local attractions. One of the elevators felt a little bit shaky. Couple lots down had construction going (April 2015) so there were sounds of pile drivers going during the week. Being realistic, not the Hotel's fault in any way, but something to keep in mind for spring/summer 2015.
room, beach, Catch 31 rest/bar..overall, no problem with hotel. Noisy outside of elevator room. coffee pot had to be replaced, didn't work. But, most of all, the staff never even apologized when I called a few days later to tell them that Priceline (Kayak, thus Travelweb) had already charged me for my room that I booked online. Oh, no. They told me that that's just the way it is...sometimes they don't get the info in time and it's my responsibility to get ahold of Priceline and make sure they call the hotel. Not even an apology. Took three calls to get them to understand what happened. Then after talking to Priceline and get a resolution started (which still has not been resolved), I called back and left the general manager a message explaining and left my number. No, not even a phone call back after two days not. Hilton sucks. I will never stay there again, or any of their hotels. I paid $216 for one night and got double billed to my card and it still is not resolved. I am going to write the corporate office. This is horrible customer service for a hotel of this supposed caliber.
The hotel ws in a very good location. There was a lot to do out side of the hotel & there was a very nice restaurant located in the hotel. The hotel it self was nice & very clean. The only thing I found fault was that both pools closed up too early.
The staff was very helpful. The view from the room was great. The bed was a little hard for me. Didn't care that you have to wear a colllared shirt at the hotel restaurant that's on the beach. So we never ate at the hotel. We went to other hotels to eat.
The shower was awesome and the restaurant is the best in VA Beach
Check-in is at 4:00pm that's rather late!
The Sky Bar was a very nice place to spend time. I wish it had been allowed to stay open later that evening (7/5) as there were multiple patrons who were asked to close their tabs and exit, but it was a good experience. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. I was really surprised by this. It took me until well after 2am to finally get so tired that the comfort didn't matter and I fell asleep.
Location Room was dirty, old and not well kept. Breakfast was not included. Exteremly overpriced!!
We live in Northern VA and wanted a quick getaway for the weekend. This hotel was in a great location, easy parking in the garage across the street. The rooftop bar, lounge, and pool were our favorite part. The views are great and by far the best Virginia Beach experience we've had. The beach itself was extremely crowded, which we were expecting with visiting a tourist location. If you don't like crowds, do not visit Virginia Beach in the summer.
The location right on the beach was great. The room was clean and had a nice sitting area. I had a good dinner at Catch 31, right on the boardwalk with great service. When I mentioned my fish was a bit dry for my taste (but didn't want to send it back) they took half the price off the bill. Having beach chairs and towels included was convenient. And the rocking chairs on the boardwalk made for a great place to enjoy the ocean without going onto the beach. For the $1,000 I spent for two nights I expected more. The room only had a Murphy bed, and the walls were paper thin, so I could hear my neighbors' conversations clearly. The rooftop pool was nice, but I was chased down as soon as I arrived by a staff member who forced me to empty my water bottle as no outside food or drink was allowed. Housekeeping was a bit of a problem as well. I slept in the first day and then went to the beach. When my room wasn't cleaned by 3pm I called and asked if it could be done by 5pm and they said yes. When I returned at 6;30pn to clean up for dinner reservations, housekeeping was still in the process of cleaning my room. Also, the activities desk where you get your towel and beach chair was fairly aggressive about a time share promotion they were offering.
The breakfast was well worth the price. The beds were so comfortable and the grounds were nice to walk through. The staff was friendly and professional.
Staff was extremely friendly and polite. The room and grounds were very clean. Beautiful and great amenities. Bed was a little too soft and small pillows
I liked it because it was a historic. Nice complimentary breakfast. Great southern hospitality.. The bed had a big dip in it so i sank in the middle when I slept so very uncomfortable. The price did not match with what was offered I paid almost 400 dollars for 2 nights not worth it. There was hair in the pool and the hot tub.
Facilities were fabulous, including pool, grounds, spa, etc. Everything was so clean. And for the price, it was a great value. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel did not provide wash clothes, making it very difficult to take a shower. Also, the rooms were small and the facility was farther away from the ocean shore than we expected. Still, for the price, we would probably stay there again.
The pool was perfect for kids.
The location was good. The room felt damp and it had a musty odor. The desk help appeared unhappy and short tempered. Was unwilling to help with any requests made.
We got a great single queen, room was comfortable and clean. The bed slept good, and it was quiet. Amenities were suitable. Indoor pool and hot tub were fun, and there was a locker room with showers for after the pool. Location was nice for our trip. 15 minutes to anything you needed. I would definitely stay here again. I would have liked a bigger coffee pot, since our room only had a one cup one, but i made do.
An employee gave us cups and bottles of water after we said how hot we were. Nice colonial decor. Clean A bit expensive.
Very clean and comfortable beds. Attended an event there and it was very nice. Phone in room wouldn't call front desk
Hotel was great; make sure you stay in a double or a suite. The beds in the single room looks like a full size bed, not a queen.
The hotel is cute and has a great breakfast buffet. The location is great and the pools are wonderful. The rooms are not as clean as one would like. The windows do not have blinds, so even though we tried to close the curtains as tightly as possible, a crack of light usually woke us in the morning.
Our room was very quiet and peaceful. Great location. There were no bugs-awesome! First after booking an oceanfront room, we got a "side" viewing balcony. I questioned them about this and they said that it was because I booked through expedia and that I needed to take this up with them. Everything seemed to be in need of serious updating, our toilet didn't want to flush properly, and when we called for someone to check it out, they never showed up or even acknowledged our call. The condition of the room left everyone feeling very uncomfortable overall.
There was a mix up in the room that was booked and the front desk took care of everything. The room was more than enough for a night. Great view great customer service Nothing
Loved waking up to the the ocean. Very private balconies (oceanfront). The pool area was nice, I only got in the jacuzzi. The location is perfect if you don't want to be around the busy part of the beach. I will definitely be coming back. The elevators.. Always 2/3 or even 1 working so you had to wait in the uncomfortable hot hallways then get into a hot elevator.
The hotel was very clean and beautiful. Will definitely be going back to this wonderful place!! Best place on the beach! Nothing!
Staff was accommodating. Our room was not ready when they said it would be. Unclear rules on where pets were allowed. Even though pets are allowed, they are not pet friendly.
Bathroom rails were rusting and chipping
Hot tub/indoor pool Prices of the soda vending machines and restaurant breakfast. Not having a guide for channels in the room.
Easy check-in with friendly and efficient staff. Room was standard c.1980s, but that's no problem with me, as furnishings were slick, clean, and undamaged. Bed was extremely comfortable, and heater (though a bit noisy) did a great job keeping the room comfortable. Outstanding location and environment, sufficiently removed from the central blocks of busy tourism with a broad semi-private beachfront. Oceanfront room had a 180º panoramic view w/ small private balcony. Water was wonderfully hot, and fridge wonderfully cold. No microwave. Within minutes I got changed into my swim trunks, ready to enjoy the hot tub advertised on the website as an amenity. NOT IN OPERATION was the sign greeting me there. The indoor pool (thankfully vacant) was adequately warm, with depths ranging from 3-4.5 feet. Additional disappointment came when 2 roaches greeted me in my room's sink, a surprise given the otherwise spotless condition of the room. I expressed these concerns upon checkout, and was told the inoperative hot tub was posted on their website. Well, I didn't see it before arriving, and I can't find it today...a day after checking out. Was given an "I'm so sorry...did you notify the desk?" about the roaches. I typically pack a fogger when I travel, but this was a short 2-night stay, and I didn't want to evacuate the room for those 4 hours of fog. Next time, I'll pack the fogger and splice that 4 hour vacancy into my plans.
I loved the location being north of the boardwalk. Something I learned was this is the beach of choice for a lot of locals due to it being away from the hustle and bustle. It was a nice beach with a great resturant connected. The Resturant has won Wine Spectators best wine list in the world award four years in a row!! All employees were helpful and attentive. Everyone had great attitudes and personalities. The employees are what made it great, and will be why I return!! I'm in customer service myself and can be difficult to please.... I was laughing and having a good time with everyone. I even got the guest of the day award for returning a couple luggage carts lol It could've been a little cleaner, but I could've also spent triple and stayed at a Hilton or something. My family and I loved it, and met a lot of cool people.
Jimmy at the bar was great! Also like the option for renting bikes. Food was very good. Ac unit was loud and we could not figure out how to turn It on and off . My sister decided to join me last minute and the front desk said they couldn't change my room from king to 2 queens because of how I booked even though theyhad rooms available .
The staff members very courteous from front desk, housekeeping or anyone I came in contact during our stay. Rooms cleaned a little better need a sweeper with a good edge cleaner. The same with the bathroom floors edges build up from the years. Several towel racks loose. No air condition in hallways temp outside 90+ during my visit.would have been nice if safe in room didn't have an extra charge.
The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our needs The rate was a bit pricey for a king single bed room even though expendia. Food was pricy at the restaurant lounge.
ocean front. clean. professional staff. rooms are a bit small.
Very nice place to stay, walk out the back door and you're on the beach The bathroom was very small
View Restaurant!!! Horrible dirty food was cold and bad selection. Rather not have a complimentary breakfast. We left
The accessibilty to the beach, convenience of the shops on the lower level , fresh coffee and juice always available in the lobby for guests and the general relaxed atmosphere and open layout of the lobby. The covered parking garage is also a nice feature. Of special note: I spilled my cup of coffee in the room and when i called for assistance from housekeeping the young man who came to help was very prompt and courteous. We found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating when asked and needed. The pool and the pool area were atrocious. The tiles above the water were lined with scum. There was, what i can only assume, a large slpatter of mucus on the deck of the pool area that was there for 2 days of our stay, and we saw at least 3 cockroaches running on the pool deck. When we first checked into our room, the bathroom had not been cleaned behind the door. A used towel from the prevoius occupant was still hanging on the door and there was debris such as sand and dust along the edges by the door.
Location is prime! Seconds to the beach and close to main strip attractions, food and entertainment. The staff were more than helpful and a pleasure to see. Very clean rooms with a great view. Pool, fitness area are very nice! Everything is setup to make your stay as easy as possable. Parking is included and the garage is attached for quick access to rooms. We really enjoyed our stay and will more than likely stay here again. It could be up kept a little better maintenance wise to the outside, our door to the balcony was pretty beat up and alot of rust and missing paint. They were in the process of painting rooms tho, so maybe the rest is soon to come. Its an older hotell so some things like that are expected. The rooms could be a little bigger but for what we needed and the price it was great! The breakfast was pretty lame, but again, for the price it was fine. Nothing special to eat and pretty limited but what they did offer was really tasty and the staff again were very nice. Overall the pros definitely outweigh the negatives and i would stay here again and recomend to friends and family. Our family of 4 had an excellent stay!
Beachfront Based on price and reviews, thought hotel had been rebuilt. Same dingy carpets in hallway, gaudy colors, weak attempt at an unhealthy breakfast. When first walked in room and smell men's cologne, I was immediately turned off. Refrigerator was not working well so spoiled $100 worth of food and beer. Warm beer!!!! Even the shower was not adjustable. For 30 bucks more could've stayed at Hilton
Close to the water & right on the boardwalk, the rooms wee well kept and tidy. The free breakfast buffet was horible, we ate it our second day, I should have known better I'm usually against buffets all together! It gave me severe food poisoning & I was bed ridden 2 of the 4 days we were there! Never again!! Steer clear!!! Yuck!!!! Also elevator was extremely slow sometimes wiring up to five minutes..
The room was clean and the view was great. The staff was very friendly No blow dryer, no tea, the tv wasn't working and my boyfriend got it to work somehow after fooling with it, no big deal though, the overall stay was good
We loved the view from our room and balcony. We found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Great location. They had a good variety of foods for breakfast and did a very good job keeping everything filled up. We would come back here for another vacation. The kids didn't like the hall-ways. Hot and very narrow. The parking garage is tight but nice to be on the same floor you are staying on. Someone put a scratch on my car..
Everything about the hotel i liked. No issues. Flawless i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Definitely got my money's worth.
Waterfront balcony was a huge plus. Gym, free parking, and breakfast included. Decent price. Could have been cleaner but, was not bad overall. The parking garage had steep ramps that may cause some vehicles to bottom out.
It's not luxurious, but for the price it's SO much better than the other hotels (which are mostly dumps) in the area that cost the same or more. Everything was clean and modern, and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating! There were added perks that you don't always get at some of the other hotels at Virginia Beach, like being able to park more than 1 car there (for a small fee), and even though check out is 11am you can still park your car there for the remainder of the day. If you like to swim you might need to walk a block or so up the beach since the hotel is right next to the pier (where most shark attacks occur). Otherwise, the location is great! It's right by the amusement park and tons of shops and restaurants. I'll definitely come back here again! The ac was a bit harsh. If you sleep next to the air vent you're going to get tons of cold air blasted right at you. The beds are a bit hard, but I still slept well.
Loved the location..room was nice with beautiful view. Restaurant is great too! Enjoyed the pool & hot tub. Pool guys (employees) looking at us too much when we swam. Made me uncomfortable.
Location Iron didn't work well. Cable didn't work well (fuzzy). For some reason I thought there would be a mini fridge in the room, but there wasn't. ,Iron didn't work well. Cable didn't work well.
Great view of the ocean and great restuarant. Our toilet ran all night. If it worked, would have 5 stars.
I liked having a balcony to sit on and view the ocean. The view was magnificent.
We loved the balcony and the oceanfront view. The cleanliness if the rooms was not so good. At first we walked in the main corridor and the hotel looked beautiful. Then you go down the hallways and you immediately think you are in a different hotel. Needs to be renovated and there is no air conditioning in the hallways so it smells musty. The rooms themselves were not bad. Our sheets had hairs on them from the past people that were there which we thought was unacceptable. The shower was difficult to shower comfortably because of the setup being handicapped and the settings on the water went from ice cold straight to flaming hot. We also had to leave a day early because of a family emergency and tried getting our last night stay refunded but when we told the staff it became more of an interrogation and the manager asked "what kind if family emergency is it." Not very professional. Parking was across the street but valet is available. We will not stay there again.
The oceanfront. I thought that the cost should have included a refrigerator and microwave.
The hotel is very clean and tidy, the parking garage is free and right around the corner, the staff is incredibly attentive, all the rooms have ocean view, the rooms are modern and it was extremely quiet since it was the off season. Be prepared to have a love affair with the shower, though. Between the peace and quiet, that was the REAL winner for my boyfriend and myself. The tub is nice and long so you can really get your soak on (go to the Lush store in the Norfolk mall and get yourself a bath bomb, trust me, you'll be absolutely pleased with the results!!!) Plus two shower heads that individually swivel, have different spray settings and have really great pressure?!?! Talk about so fresh and so clean clean!!! The view of the ocean is just a bit wonky, there's a giant pipe that's siphoning sand from the marina to the ocean and when it's running, that watery mix looks GROSS (the sand is black from boat fuel). There was no mini fridge or microwave, which was a bit odd, especially when the issue of having leftovers came up, but not a total deal breaker. It was just odd. The concierge was excellent at his job, but to the point of being almost a bit intrusively helpful and aggressively friendly, but who can be really upset with somebody who's genuinely happy to be at their job?
The beachfront view Surprise $50 for liability but comes back yobuoi 3 days after checkout
Building staff and location were great. The building star was super nice and always greeted you. Building was located very close to a lot of nearby by attractions and great places to eat. The receptionist at the front desk was horrible. She atempted to over charge me for my stay claiming we were in a deluxe room, yet there was no mini fridge and no microwave. She did not greet us when we walked in and acted as if it was a choir to tend to us, when it is her job. I asked her if there was anyone to help with our bags all she said was that the location didn't have bellhops not once did she mention the trollys off the side of the front desk that were hidden from plain view. Didn't see them till later on when at the pool. When calling the front desk she was not very attentive and seemed as if she hates her life and her job.
The beds were very comfortable, location to the beach and other attractions a plus. Shower was nice. There were bugs in the room. The shower drain was clogged. Tv picture was fuzzy and it was hard to watch TV.
Location was great right on the boardwalk. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel had an old school feel with updated decor. Staff was awesome. Only complaint was that the phone was broken and the cord popped out when you tried to call the front desk. Other than that hotel was awesome
I had to cancel my trip at the last minute do to a sick child. When i called to cancel they said sorry even though you paid the extra fee to be able to cancel your reservation you are with in 24 hours so we are still billing you for one night. This is absolute garbage i will never stay at this hotel. COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
Great location (walking distance to a lot of things), great views, ample parking. The shower drain was clogged with somebody else's hair. It was really gross. I don't think the bathtub had been cleaned at all. I felt like I needed another shower after taking a shower here.
The heated pool was awesome! ...clean and very warm for December. The rooms need udating badly.
Front desk folks were great. An older gentleman was a joy to work with and we looked for him each time we entered. Cleaning folks asked when we left our room if we needed anything. Putting us in an awkward position, we said towels would be great. So that day nothing was done in our room. The next day she tried the same thing, to which I replied, everything. I felt she just was just trying to get out of doing her job. I like having my room cleaned when on vacation.
The price and the location. The hotel seemed a little too outdated.
No room service after 3:00
We were passing through town and needed a place for 1 night. It was clean, safe, and right on the beach! It isn't a luxury resort but for the price, it was nice, clean and the staff was helpful. The mattresses weren't top notch but again, for the price, it did the trick. The rooms are a little dated but for a reasonably priced hotel on the beach it is fine. Big plus is we could see the Neptune statue from our balcony. If you want a romantic stay, this would not be the place. But for a beach-front place to stay, it is worth it.
I came down for the night to enjoy the record breaking warm temperatures at Virginia Beach. I stayed at the Oceanfront Inn for the first time and I will be back for sure! The staff was wonderful and so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet and in a great location. The price was right too. The hotel is right next to the Hilton and so I loved the location to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend!
Location,oceanfront Smell in room,hall,small beds,breakfast not included
The Oceanfront is a very comfortable, non-pretentious and convenient location on the Virginia Beach boardwalk. We love it. It was our second time there. We'll definitely be back - no better value!!
Beach, balcony, location on beach, restaurant Plastic mattress pad on bed, tight bathroom
The location is good and if you like live music the restaurant is great! Live music daily. They were an hour late in getting our room ready, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the room is very outdated. Our towels were stolen and the staff didn't seem to care and were not very accommodating.
The Calypso bar and grill connected to the hotel is basically the only reason worth even considering staying here Booked the room because I read that this hotel had been completed renovated for 2016. The pictures matched what you got, but the musty smell of old smoke lingered. We had to leave the balcony door open the whole time because of it. The wifi didn't work the entire time we stayed there, it would log in and and then immediately kick you out. When I called the front desk to ask if others were having the same issue the person said "yeah they are, but I don't know what you want me to tell you." I would have even accepted a bulsh** response of them saying that they had someone working on it, instead of the response I got. This made the think that they probably have this issue all the time and are doing nothing to fix it. Overall between a cheaply done renovation, musty rooms and no wifi/poor customer service regarding issues with wifi, I would not choose to stay here again.
I like the location of the hotel it was right next to the beach. I didn't like how long I had to wait when I requested extra stuff from the front desk.
Great balcony view. The beds were comfy. Rooms were clean. Guest Laundry washer was broke . Check in time was bad because so many people checking in and so few spots available right at the hotel.
Convenience and Location. The night Club “Calypso” is right outside the rear of the hotel with a live band on the weekends and they are loud, but they do stop at 11 pm
The ocean front and staff The music here is horrible all night long . The bar is connected to hotel and it's really loud the shower pressure sucks they fixed it but it still sucked . It's a little run down more for ppl who want to party
This hotel is dirty and gross. I felt like I was going to get bed bugs from the sheets. The balcony had chunks of cement missing and the couch and chair had black dirt embedded in it. Plus, I had booked on a weekend when a hurricane was coming and they would not give me a refund. There was a hurricane coming, how was I suppose to control that.
I like that we had ocean view. THATS IT!! First of all, I had to wait about 30 minutes in line just to check in there was a long line just for that, there was only 1 stuff checking in everyone, that is ridiculous. the bathroom was dirty and old looked like no one had cleaned it. we paid to much just for one night, didn't like the fact that the room didn't have a sink, only one old microwave and fridge next to the bed. not staying here again.
It was a clean and quiet hotel. I love that in included the tickets for the park. It was a great place for my family to have a weekend get away
Location, parking space Coffee at the Lobby The cleanliness really Poor, in Public areas, room, balcony
Great ocean view from the room. Located right on the beach which was great for my kids. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great value for the money to stay on the beach. The only problem we had at all was a minor thing, we didn't have a shower curtain in our room. We asked about the first night and we were told they would have to find one. It took until the second night before we got a shower curtain in the room.
Comfort of the room. The path to the beach was right next to a busy, loud restaurant also the pool was directly right in front of the view of diners.
Love the Bed/Mattress/comforter in the room (Very Luxurious) and the indoor pool and hot tub. Check in took over half a hour. Way too long for a what I expect out of a Westin. Definitely at a Holiday Inn level of speed. I arrived a half hour before dinner reservations (to a restaurant next door). Lost my table on Valentines Day. So, the "perfect date" had an extra half-hour at the bar, because of an un-prepared hotel staff. Very disappointing, time is a precious commodity.
I was very pleased that I could get an early check in. I liked having Starbucks Coffee in the room. The shower head was nice and had great water pressure. The bed was very cozy. Parking was very convenient. The remote didn't work very well on the TV and there was no guide channel or print out that I could find. The complimentary bath products could use an upgrade. When I called for an early check in I was told that it shouldn't be a problem since there were many vacant rooms available. I was slightly dissapointed to then be assigned a room with a poor view.
Room was very nice Room was not ready at check in and were told twice to come back in an hour due to problems with housekeeping. They did compensate by offering free Sunday brunch. Billed twice for room - had to request a credit for second charge.
My wife and I had a great time and the hotel was modern, big size rooms, nice view/looking at the city and parking area was accesible no hassle. Definitely will be coming back and will stay at Westin! awesome Easter weekend!
I found its location good for the reasons of my travel.
They were having some technical difficulties with the AC but it wasn't a big problem.
close to resturants had to wait for room to be ready at 5:00 p.m. Needed to call back housekeeping to supply towels, put furniture back, take away dirty glasses. Room never cooled off and we were sweating inside the room from heat
Nothing really. Over priced and didn't provide what we paid for. See avove/
clean, excellent hotel, nice staff
I enjoyed the area. Lots to see and do within walking distance.
Felt very new and clean, nice contemporary decor, everything worked as expected. Parking attendant and luggage porter were very pleasant and helpful. In room internet (wi Fi or wired) is not free. Check in process way too long considering SPG and pre-paid, desk staff not knowledgeable and not very accommodating (late checkout of an hour request was not granted, instead a half hour was barely offered).
Room ready early and very clean. Ebony at front desk is very helpful & always smiling. Archie in the breakfast room is very pleasant & kind. Every employee was very nice, kind and on top of their job. We had a fantastic time!
I very much liked the staff. Very nice people, helpful, polite, professional. The hotel reminds me of of something designed and built in the late 60's or early 70's. Most important, I found the room clean, bathroom updated, housekeeping on top of things. Therefore, keeping in mind the hotel is something out of the 70's I would recommend it, I would return again. Continental breakfast was pretty sad, sorry. All in all, this is no setback for the Barclay.
The online reviews were very good, but only the location is excellent. Everything they had to do themselves was fair at best. Second day no cleaning of the room at all. Bad smelling hall and a bit worn down.
Location to the ocean, assistance of the staff, and a large room with what we needed. The beds aren't that comfortable, and the walls are paper thin. However, for budget minded people like us, it didn't take much to overlook these inconveniences.
The complimentary breakfast, kitchens in room, and oceanfront view.
It was on the beach and you did not have to pay for parking. The all suite was also nice for a family. There was nothing luxury about this place, not a cut above, as advertised. Very plain and simple. Nothing elegant. The shower was backed up and the toilet ran all the time.
The staff was extremely helpful and nice, especially Dana! On the Booking.com website it gave me the option of having a smoking room. Upon arrival the Hotel appeared to be a nonsmoking Hotel.
great location along the boardwalk, clean rooms, great view wish there was an outdoor pool
Good location Ocean front view Unfriendly staffs Bad customer services Bad smell everywhere ( elevator, hallways, carpets, etc.) Poorly upgraded sofa bed.
good value, good location, clean rooms and great maid service, good front desk assistance, great view, nice continental breakfast (with pastries, cereal, yogurt, great coffee, juice, bagles), friendly staff. Laundry and ice available. Nice size safe in room. Public computer available. Nice size heated pool. Felt safe and secure. the website was missing information as to what kitchen items, etc were actually in the suite. We wound up spending about $25-$30 on kitchen items which we could have brought from home had we known. Also, it should be mentioned that the fridge is not a full size and but is a half size without a decent freezer. Parking may need a bit more broad explanation as to what is available. Sat check in was hectic, hot, and frustrating for weary travelers.
I enjoyed my stay very much. Friendly staff, clean environment, and great location. continental breakfast was not much to desire, and out of date television in the living room.
Clean room lots of space big room and sitting area although it's looks like a old hotel seems like it's been well maintained The the breakfast was a let down would like to see a little more than just bagels and juice should add some hot food too(eggs, sausage, ect.) When on a trip it's always nice to save a little money with a free breakfast but we only ate the one morning and went out for the following two.the quality in next door has a great breakfast.
Terrific, friendly staff Free use of bikes! Great view Clean room Would have liked a comforter or bedspread on beds - the sheet/blanket/sheet combo was pretty thin, but we found another blanket and requested a 2nd for other bed, and that worked out fine.
Fun. Clean. Large rooms. Ocean view. On the strip at 16th st. Perfect location. Great food.
Very close to food and shops. Central location. Staff was friendly. Room was not as clean as would like. Bathroom was not clean and the sheets were visibly soiled.
Nice quiet time. Very relaxing. The pay per view movie channel didn't work in the room. After I reported it, it took maintenance until the day before I left to come check on it. By that time I didn't want it.
Sheratons beds and pillows are always comfy. Having the fridge is a plus. Starbucks coffee is always nice to wake up to. TV did not work properly and creamers had spoiled.
The hospitality of the front desk staff. Loved the availability of the bar/internet services in a relaxing atmosphere. Having the choice of swimming in a pool or the ocean!
Beach access, parking, restaurant, staff
It was for the most part clean and the staff was nice. The biggest downfall was that our hotel room faced part of the hotel's rooftop which was filled with beer cans, cigarette butts, you name it we could see it from our room. It definitely wasn't the "city view" we thought we were going to get when booking the room.
Oceanfront room had a great view, beds were comfy, room was clean; bathroom could use an exhaust fan. Pools & tiki bar were a plus, & location was great for us. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Lobby staff were very gracious & friendly (Emanual was excellent). Housekeeping could have been a little quicker to clean our room since we were gone from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, & my dad (77) wanted to stay out of afternoon heat. So, our room was not cleaned. However, was it Nik? who came to our door in the evening & made sure we had everything we needed ... more towels was all. I would stay there again. No exhaust fan in bathroom.
I was especially impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
We liked the quality of the room. Granite in the bath, crown moulding, colorful bed coverings. And, what a view. Possibly the only drawback, and not always, was the wait for the elevator. It gets a lot of use.
It's good to bring pets to the hotel Too many dogs barking everywhere. Also some folks let the dogs run around with a leash.
i like the service and the hospitality
Bed was amazing
Great location with lots to do, convenient to everything. Nice room decor. Comfy beds. Very nice oceanfront restaurant. Waitresses and bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Couldn't get oceanfront room because its an indirect booking. Housekeeping didn't clean the room because we came back from the beach before they got to it at 4pm one day.
The hotel seemed very clean. It had a small pool, work out area, and restaurant & bar inside. The complimentary cookie was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of parking spaces available and its only 1 mile from the beach! There was no microwave or small refrigerator to cook and store food in. We only stayed 1 night so it wasnt really that big if a deal.
Great updates and room prep notifications. Requested extra blankets. Receive extra towels instead. Could not add to our Hilton Honors points by booking through Kayak. BUT only through Kayak could I book two nights. When I tried to book directly the hotel only had one night available.
Staff was very friendly Roms are small but convenient.
Pool closes some what late , breakfast was good Dirty room , room service didnt even vacuum the room or take the trash out. When i asked for a cookie without nuts they still gave me ones with nuts on 4 different time! I ended up getting sick because of the nuts. Really wish i choose a different place to stay. Lesson learned !
Almost nothing. The staff was nice, and the sheets were clean. But nothing memorable or special at all about this hotel. The water in the shower didn't get hot, visible damage in the bathroom. Our carpet was damp when we got there. No mini fridge or safe in the room. Not one piece of artwork in the whole room, very stark and un welcoming. We needed a pet friendly room and this is the first time I've ever booked one, they don't tell you anywhere when you make the reservation that pets are not to be left unattended in the room at any time. And also didn't tell me that when I called to verify the reservation and to let them know that we were bringing two small dogs. So after driving 14 hours and booking a non refundable room for $400, they made me sign something at the front desk saying that if I did leave my dog in the room that they would call animal control to safely remove the dog. We were traveling for a wedding, what was I supposed to do? So the second day we were there, while at a wedding function, I got a call saying the dogs were barking and I needed to come back to the hotel and take them to a kennel if I was going to leave them unattended. I would have taken them to a kennel in my home town and left them while we were out of town if I would have known any of that. Absolutely ridiculous. And then the hotel manager had the nerve to tell me that he would work with me when I said we couldn't make it back to the hotel for about 30 minutes. You better work with me because last time I checked, I was the one paying you guys, not the other way around.
I loved it. The staff was amazing! ! Rooms were nice. Close to the beach, definitely will come back next year. The restaurant, food took too long.
Location Some minor issues with plumbing.
Did like the room itself. Comfy and good for us. Did not like the fact that the pool closed so early and that it was "closed for maintenance" two of the three days we were there. It would have been nice to go swimming since it was over 100 degrees outside everyday. The beach is not my goto choice when I think of swimming. We chose this room with swimming and a bar in mind. Room had a horrible odor. Air purifier was provided by staff, but had no lasting effect; had to be run daily for several hours.
Comfortable Allergic to pets, and room was on let floor. Resulted in bad allergies during stay.
The staff was awesome and super helpful. The pool was amazing too! Room had a great view, very clean. Will definitely return!! Nope!
The staff!! Hands down the friendliest and most knowledgeable The name causes confusion with multiple hilton hotels on the same street
Location Everything was fine.
The facility is amazing but more so is the staff! Hotel employee with engineering was not only helpful but very personable. Will definatley stay at this hotel again!
It was on the ocean had a restaurant and was just in the right spot for us. The heated pool was perfect. It is not full service which I should have paid more attention to the services, but that aside it is in the perfect location and rooms and bathrooms were clean and sparkling. Beautiful view from the balcony out into the ocean with sunrises and moonrises
view from room proximity to beach fighter planes from air base extremely loud ,fly over constantly for entire day. unable to enjoy ocean sound with sliding door open due to very loud air conditioner noise from adjoining rooms.

Proximity to beach. Selection of amenities offered. Room was overpriced for accommodations. Room was dirty upon arrival. Housekeeping often didn't clean, even when multiple requests were made. Music from restaurant was too loud and nonstop. Staff was inept, didn't care, and made that abundantly clear.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved that the room had a balcony facing the beach, and it was very clean. I enjoyed everything about the hotel.

Oceanfront Oceanfront balcony was small, bathroom was small. Beware of the Concierge in the lobby. They will talk you into going to a timeshare presentation they claim will take 90 minutes but actually takes 3 hours. 3 hours of my life wasted I can never get back.
Beachfront, newness (2 years old) great lobby, friendly staff. 7 dead flies on ceiling above bed discovered at bedtime. Room seemed a little worn....
The staff was very friendly. Having a young child we enjoyed the activities available for children.
The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly. Great view of the beach and they have very nice pools It only has one elevator that goes to the 7th floor and that one elevator takes forever and a day to get you to where you're going. I reserved and paid for an oceanfront room with a king bed and I received a queen oceanfront room.
Took the family for the weekend and it turned out to be a good choice, sits ON the beach and close to all the main attractions.
I loved the awesome levels of customer service given by the staff. Especially the young lady that service as hostess/attendant in the breakfast area. She's always so nice! The only thing that I didn't like was that my stay was so short.
I liked that it was close to the beach The room was filthy, even found trash and someone elses flip flop under a table....YUCK!!! The bathtub wouldnt drain and not enough towels. I will NEVER stay here again unless you like filth and the ghetto.
wifi pool's too small and closed n the morning, rust, ants, sheets not fresh, bed's not soft an elevator about to break
Location, price in low season, friendly receptionist Pee Smell in elevator, old dirty stars with water, dirty curtuins in bath tab, non-existance of fridge
The room was out of date and the spread that was on the bed smell so bad.
Location was great. Rooftop pool provided nice escape from the heat. Beds were very comfortable. The rooms had a grimy feel. Bathroom is tiny. No wifi. Breakfast was minimal. Noise from neighbors at all hours (shouting and blasting music) made sleeping very difficult. Had to keep having keys reset as they would work a few times and then stop.
Nothing Filthy. Stayed for 10 minutes and checked out immediately. Disgusting broken down creepy place.
The staff was helpful and friendly, they even asked what floor we'd prefer. We told them we wanted a good view and we weren't disappointed! The rooms were decent and it was a very short walk to the beach. My only real complaints are that the bathroom was always hot and muggy, and the elevator stunk. The elevator problem could be fixed by putting linoleum on the floor instead of carpet. Also the AC was kind of loud but it didn't bother me too much.
Great ocean view from the roof Guest service is the worst! Called several times because i needed extra blanket and pillow and never got either one. I even went to the front desk and the lady said they would take it to my room which was B.S. Place was falling apart do not book in this hotel!
We didn't get ammenities we were suppose to were told we would receive a credit which we did not.
Nothing. I almost left after first night, but there were no refunds and the front desk hung up on me when I complained, stating that it was a housekeeping issue and they are not responsible for that. There was a long nail on the elevator floor for longer than 24 hours. There was garbage on the hallway floors for the entire stay. There was a cigarette package and cigarette butts on my balcony for the entire stay. The bathroom was horrible and there was mold and mildew all over it. The hotel carpet needed replacing. The guests were making noise all night, and running around banging on doors through the night, including mine. This hotel is good for young hoodlums who don't care about comfort of cleanliness. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in virginia beach. I was taking a nap with my child, with the do not disturb sign up and housekeeping knocked on my foot and entered the room. They had not provided me towels and soap, which I had to get myself earlier. Then when I went to see why they entered, they left one hand towel on the dirty sink for me.
The only thing that we enjoyed was the location of the hotel. The ocean was visible from the room and the location was a fun area. To sum it up the hotel suck. When we arrived at the hotel the lobby wasn't even clean. In need of a vacuum. We got checked in took our stuff to the room (room 414) the room was disgusting. needed vacuumed, the smell was horrible, the door looked like someone tried to kick the door in and the door had one inch play when shut. Didn't feel safe. There was a hole in the one wall the air conditioning didn't work so they had a cheap little fan. I noticed the smoke alarm battery spot was opened so I looked at it and no battery inside so I removed it from the wall to see if it was wired in and nope. No working smoke alarm. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling. We had a coffee maker but no coffee or coffee pot. And the room didn't even have an alarm clock. They had a rooftop pool. But the water was a greenish color. After the travel site discount we were paying about $150 a night I wouldn't even want to pay $30 a night for this room. The breakfast sucked for the price we payed and every time we tried to use the toaster or microwave they had electrical problems and they didn't work. The staff for breakfast was rude. We had to stay that night in that nasty room and the next day I demanded another room and they were not happy about it but got us another room. (room 504) this room was livable and smelled better. Even the new room wasn't worth that much money. I feel like we got ripped off.
The air condition Dirty rooms. Rusted wholey furniture. Whole in ceiling. Bad carpet. Old
