Pros: When we arrived we were greeted by Joe and straight away he made us feel welcome we only stayed one night but we left feeling like we had known him for a long time. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: Jackie & Joe are warm, friendly, generous, and helpful people. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. The hosts were willing to share their time giving their guests tips on local restaurants and pubs along with some of the local sights to see. They were also very friendly, and when we left, we felt we knew more about them than any of the other 5 B & B hosts we met during our 11-night stay in Ireland. If we were to rebook our trip over again, we would spend more time at 3 of the B & Bs we chose and cut the others. Clonmacnoise would not be on the cut list! Great hosts, ample parking, fantastic breakfast, in a quiet location out in the Irish Midlands, and the best value for your money!.
Cons: The bathroom for our room was not ensuite.

Pros: Loved everything! Owners and staff were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Accommodations were very comfortable and clean and included a private bathroom. Food was top notch and there was a great selection! Since a "continental" breakfast was included, we expected only tea/coffee and a baked good of some kind but were also served bacon and eggs if we wanted them. The owners and staff were a great help to us in finding the locations we wanted to visit and had lots of other helpful advice. They took phone calls for us and helped us get in touch with people who were knowledgeable about the area. A wonderful home away from home centrally located in a quiet and traditional small village in the midlands. Great option for family or friends traveling together as several rooms had multiple beds.
Cons: Everything was great!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was perfect for peaceful night after a long journey, fairly easy to find
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The loveliest of hostesses, we absolutele loved our stay with Margaret and will definitely come again. Our only regret was that we didn't stay for longer. Margaret allowed us have the dog in the room, and gave us a super recommendation for dinner in the neighbouring town. She also allowed our 7 yr old daughter play with a dolls' house which made her day! Breakfast was perfect with cereal, home made scones, apples off her own tree and gorgeous boiled eggs. There were lovely walks near by along the canal.
6.7 Good
Pros: The beds! We've slept amazingly well. Also the quiteness of the location. The springwater of her own well. The size of the big room. How clean it was. The room lacks a cozy touch but it is very functional as a bedroom.
Cons: First she tried to give us the cheap room while we paid for the expensive one. We were the only guests so I have a hard time believing that she was mistaken. Second she led us straight to the room and never showed us the kitchen or said we could use it. When I asked about breakfast she simply said 'I don't do that anymore' and didn't say anything about making tea or coffee or use the fridge or anything. She only gave us a bottle of springwater in the room. It felt quite unwelcome and in the morning we left without eating or drinking anything. I keep hoping that she had a temporal condition as a reason for this. The price for just two good beds was too high in my opinion.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Margaret was so friendly and accommodating. She went above and beyond to help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Lovely view and surroundings.
6.3 Good
Pros: Arrived late but got a friendly welcome
Cons: This property is listed as a B & B (Bed & BREAKFAST) However there is no breakfast available. It is deceiving to list this as a B & B. It should clearly state that it is a room only.

When we arrived late in the evenings we were given tea and biscuits, cakes and bunloaf. The ladies were interested in our day and shared their busy lives with us. When going on several long journeys during the days the hostesses gave us fruit for our journey. They cold not have been more helpful with their recommendations for dinners and activities for day and evening. The cruise on the loch was fabulous and the outings to the nearby pubs and restaurants worthwhile.
Cons: - That couldn't stay longer than a week.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breda was a great host, beautiful house. I love the decor and fixtures. Quiet and tranquil. The bed was very comfy, I value my sleep so I was pleased about that as I had to attend college. I had a feeling of been back in time with the setting in this modern world. I received a warm welcome, and enjoyed my breakfast. I would stay again.

Pros: the breakfast was ok Izzy the dog location a bit remote
Cons: 1 mowing the lawn outside the sunroom from 7:30 till 9 pm was hardly conducive to a pleasant atmosphere( surely this could have been done earlier in the day) 2 the room walls are so thin that any sound from your neighbour (ie small children screaming ) is not pleasant. 3 late arrivals 11.30 pm, who then partied till 2-3 am made sleeping difficult

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host Sheamus was extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, if a bit small. The breakfast was very sufficient (we could help ourselves with everything from the fridge, cereals etc), if only simple, which was fine for the price.
Cons: The showers use very loud heating devices that can actually wake up other guests when used -- annoying when you have to get up early, or when other guests use them at 4 o'clock in the morning (really happened, along with some running and shouting). The one twin room I stayed in was very small, only space for the two single beds and nothing else.

Cons: I likedthe staffand location and everything about the places 5 stars

Pros: Everything was well done. Great food, nice facilities, and excellent hosts.
Cons: Tv was a too small to see from the bed. Not a problem for us as we were mostly away but could be for some travellers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and excellent hosts. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: The only thing that could have improved my stay would have been to have a decent size tv in the room. The one that was in was about the size of a laptop and at the far end of the room. You needed binoculars to watch it so didn't bother.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view.
6.7 Good
Pros: The golf course is amazing. The views from the hotel are lovely and the breakfasts are great. (They seem to rely on the views too much and ignore the actual running of the hotel). Golf checkin and staff were very friendly and the golf academy and club seem very well run.
Cons: The service overall was terrible. Its more a golf type hotel as its run like a golf club. Its no way run like a 4 star hotel. No toilet paper in ojr room, no information given to us on checkin, no receipts or bills issued for anything! We werent asked if we enjoyed our stay. Bar staff kept overcharging as they never issued bills so you couldnt see what you were being billed for. We had to ask for a bill printout and discovered we had been charged twice for drinks in the bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nothing too much trouble staff all very friendly and very helpful
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The setting was beautiful with gorgeous views of Lough Ree.
Cons: Mattress needs updating. WiFi & phone reception were poor. Very noisy early in the morning from ground keeping staff cutting golf greens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting for this hotel is so beautiful. Its tucked away in the country side on the banks of Lough Ree. The views regardless of where you are in the hotel are breathtaking. There is definitely a feel of it being a family run hotel. Staff are very professional and friendly. This really is a place to go if you want to get away from it all and just chill. We are not golfers but certainly enjoyed seeing people play.
Cons: Nothing! Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: quality throughout was excellent. staff friendly, professional and very helpful
Cons: nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was good and the staff in the breakfast room and bar were very pleasant. The views over the lake and the golf course are tremendous
Cons: Upon arrival the receptionist spoke to me while still typing on her computer. Later during my three day visit I asked her assistance regarding facilities in Athlone and she told me I should contact her colleague in the morning she knew nothing about it. I needed my key card re programmed and the guy on reception give me a lecture about putting it with my mobile phone and having it the right way up when putting it in the door as though I had never used this key system before ! The lady on check out the morning I left was very professional.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet, not really a complaint only an observation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice, location excellent, staff friendly
Cons: Bed could be improved
7.1 Good
Pros: I liked the location, setting was beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are large. There is plenty of closet space. You can open the window for fresh air Even though I’ll be a little critical of the dining room menu, the burger I had was very good.
Cons: The beds are too soft- probably too old as I could sense ‘springs’ or ‘coils’. The quilts were too heavy. The sofas in the common area looked very dated. Chairs in the breakfast room not comfortable- very hard No separation from the bar/dining area. There was a large group of golfers there one night and it was very loud and no where to get away from it if you weren’t part of the group. Dining room menu not very exciting, you’re better to go into town for a meal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Beautiful location, setting and hotel!
