Great location, comfortable the room is big .
The staff can’t speak English. We try to book tickets to the forbidden city and the staff told us that the city was close till 5 of October and was wrong . The city opened on the 3 of October and at that time we couldn’t buy the tickets . We just missed a great opportunity, because the staff just couldn’t understand and the tickets site is only in Chinese..
It was the best booking I ever made in China. Actually I've never seen a hotel like that in China before: simple, beautiful, cosy, with a good price and breakfast delivered to the room. It made my stay: I just enjoyed every moment in this place and I didn't want to leave this beautiful room with the inner balcony, sofa and perfect bathroom.
The location is not easy to find: taxi can't always get to hutong area and you never know in advance where the taxi driver will drive you to.
The location was perfect!
The bathroom was sadly very dirty, a lot of grime on the walls in the shower.
Amazingly comfy bed. Great location in the middle of a quaint Hutong district. Roof terrace at the cafe to enjoy sunset. Great bathrooms and shower. Overall decor very tasteful. The building is very traditional.
Value for money was lacking slightly here. Breakfast wasn’t great for example. Like other reviewers, the place can get quite noisy in the mornings when staff are wondering around as the rooms are off communal walkways. This is just due to the layout of the building however. For the price you pay, you expect the staff to be able to speak reasonable English for international guests however, this was lacking with only 1 member of staff being able to speak English. Taxis also find very difficult to locate the place so I suggest using the Hutong street which connects to the big main road: Qianyuan'ensi Hutong.
Friendly and helpful staff; well equipped room; nice location in a historical place.
Communication in English seems to be always a problem in China; the coffee has a weak taste; due to the location it is not always possible to reach the hotel by car, this means that some 100 m have to be done walking; but the staff is helpfull and will carry the luggage for you!
