Bed bugs everywhere
The bathroom had mold over the ceiling. The walls were dirty. The furniture was battered and scuffed. If you only want a bed its ok and cheap.
In a good location being set along Hagley Road, not too far from the city centre a short taxi trip or a good stroll if you fancied it! 20 mins fom the NEC also! There is a really cool TGI friday and a Beefeater just 5 mins down the street for some good grub and a Spearmint Rhino if that floats your boat!!
It was ideal for me as I was just on a 2 night stay alone visiting the city for some local attractions ie The NEC. But did find the Hotel was a bit of a maze and also looked like it was in the middle of some unfinished building work, at times it was noisey during the night with groups of youths up and down the corridors and slamming doors, a little annoying every 10 mins as they were going for a smoke, but this is to be expected i guess and could happen anywhere at anytime! The TV in the room did not work but the staff were quick to help and got it going for me, I feel the hotel is for youngsters really, I dont think its a place id choose to stay with a young family or for a romantic weekend away im afraid!
Reception could be quite attractive
The standard of the hotel was appaling. Either it is in the middle of closing down or the middle of a complete renovation. Corridors and rooms are disgraceful and I doubt meet even low level standards of health and safety. Light fitting hanging off the walls, even the lift button had exposed wiring. The rooms are grotty, curtains hanging off the rails, cold. Breakfast was poor, albeit I paid for continental, I did expect danish patries, not a tray of stale bread for toasting, no fresh orange juice. Although to give credit, there were scrambled and boiled eggs which were very good. In summary, £30 for a single room £50 for a twin room, you get what you pay for. Youngsters love it as a cheap hotel for a weekend Birmingham stay. Be warned!!!
room smelted of odour, the other occupents were smoking weed, the other resident i did meet were either hoemless staying at the hotel, or the government, paying them ti stay.
The standard of the room and its condition was extremely poor with damp patches on the ceiling and general wear of the room
comfort & excelent venue for what i required
the evening meals were cancelled due to refirbishment. apart from that o.k.
the linnen was not impressing no soap and tooth paste in the rooms but it was fairly good
The cleanliness of the room was terrible!
O k location. Reasonable breakfast.
Very tired and worn decor. Evening meal and quality of house wine nowhere matching the prices asked. No problem paying 10 for house wine if it equates to a 3 bottle in a shop and 12.95 for one course of dinner if it has flavour.
easy to find and central to city
to hot with no way of turning of heating
tray charge for room service was not indicated aywhere othert han the seperate paper breakfast slip
