Amateur front desk staff and missing informations
The rooms were beautifully decorated. Each floor has an invidual motif. The staff at check in were courteous and efficient. I enjoyed the experience of choosing the style of room on an iPad. While waiting for staff to fix my door (keycard would not work), I decided to wait at the main bar on the top of the hotel. one side was marked for a private party, one wasn't. I went to the unmarked side, ordered a drink, and as I was about to pay, the bartender asked if I was part of the event. I told him no and he said that he couldn't serve me and took the drink away. I informed him that I was a guest of the hotel and that this area was not marked as reserved. His manager apologized but asked me to leave. This added insult to injury of being locked out of my room. Were it not for an early flight and the hotel's free shuttle, I would have checked out that instant. Furthermore, the hotel is poorly located in the middle of a boring residential neighborhood. It may be a good value for anyone about to travel but the device and amenities do not merit 5 stars.
the design of the hotel
Front desk staff was very responsive. Hotel architecture, floors, rooms, etc are amazing. Never saw anything like them! The restaurant staff was terrible. We were two businessmen dressed in suits. We entered the restaurant at 9:15 pm; It was not busy but had a number of tables with patrons. We walked out at 9:40, having gotten not so much as a glass of water, or even a nod in our direction, let alone an "Ill be right with you." Instead the 3-4 waiters and the captain never even made eye contact with us. So we went to the desk and got a recommendation to a very good restaurant right down the street.
Design of the room and bars. SPA is very small and poor.
The Silken Puerta America is a very well designed hotel. It is completely different to any other hotel I have experienced before. The location was poor, being 5kms from Sol / Plaza Major, which is a little too far to walk. Perhaps if they offered a shuttle service to drop guests into town.
Thi is one of the best hotel in Madrid, one of the best in the world. I'm travelling alot, but this is the best hotel i've staied in. The desing is different in each room, in the room u have a real king size bad. The service is perfect. Donstairs there is a restaurant, i would recomment to visit it. I'll come back again.)
Rooms were modern, hallways narrow and dark. Only 2 English speaking television stations (CNN, BBC News). Internet access was simple and reasonable. Staff were very efficient and polite. Breakfast was very expensive (25 Euros) for a buffet. This is more than double what the price should have been. No desk the room, so had to use a small coffee table for business and computer requirements.
Very ecological Staff was very friendly Staff was always helpful Very unique floors Excellent breakfast I wished the room's shower had had a door for privacy (second floor)
design. nothing at all.
Facilities, food, service internet and web connection wifi did not work
Cool design, friendly staff, good restaurant, close to airport slow wi-fi, no workspace for business traveler, small gym
Room was comfortable and great location Internet connection in the business centre was too slow!
The location and my room was cozy for a single occupant no cork screw in room -- minor
Great location, double glazed for noise outside, which is abundant as it's right in the city center. Air conditioner, Tv monitor which is also a computer screeen. I didn't expect carpets on floors and some surfaces in a 4 star hotel and in a hot country like Spain. It makes the rooms very stuffy. Also the bath quite claustrophobic, narrow, left very little room for movement in what it looked like more like a niche in a cemetery.
The location was GREAT!!!!! One block away from main street, so quiet in the evening, and perfect during the day. I would definitely stay here again!!!
The location was good. The staff was not helpful at all. There was a long queue at both check in and check out. Upon check in we were not given any instructions about the breakfast that was included in our rate and consequently we needless paid twice for our meal. Since we had booked online, the hotel was "unable" to make restitution. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it. There are too many other wonderful options available in Madrid. establishment.
Discovered bedbugs before going to sleep. Had to pack up my belongings in the middle of the night and move hotels. Staff had said they were going to pass along my contact information to the manager. Days later and I've heard from nobody.
Staff courtesy ,amiability .Clean enviroment
My boyfriend and I stayed here with extended family for a week. Great location, everyone that worked there was really nice/helpful and the rooms were great. So happy to have stayed here during our European adventure! Breakfast/buffet was not included in our stay but there are great little breakfast spots for a cheaper price right down the road from the hotel. workout facilities were a little older
Location & comfort of the rooms. Concierges were very helpful General off hand manner of all waiters and bar staff.
Great room, nice size, clean bigger bathroom than expected. Terrific restaurant with delicious coffee and pastries. We arrived well ahead of check-in and were graciously given our 2 rooms hours early with a smile. The street noise could be heard in room, somewhat.
modern, centrally located. Able to get quiet ground floor room (no need to use elevator) location is in the Red Light District--many "characters" loitering about
Hotel is well situated for shopping and the Retiro, very easy to get to by car, but see comments below. Despite assurances by phone that parking would be no problem, no space was available. A hotel of this size should have spaces, or at least access to public parking. Reception and lifts are overwhelmed at peak hours. I have stayed here often, but it's showing signs of a lack of care. Good hotel if the price is right.
Pretty average hotel My room was not ready upon arrival and had to wait whilst it was cleaned, staff generally not too friendly, the 'gym' facilities are a joke - the singular machine was broken, the restaurtant is expensive ... i could go on - my advice is dont stay at this hotel - very poor
This hotel was great value.Staff were very helpful on places to eat and things to do.Its is 2mins from a metro station which you can get straight from the airport.
Hotel was very reasonably priced, convenient to two metro lines, room was confortable, staff were friendly Room was just a little too warm, however, I was able to open the window.
Location, size of room The sauna was not working and the staff was not very apologetic about that. Our room was also not ready on time.
Restaurant menu was a bit poor.
The staff was friendly, helpful and most spoke at least some English. Very helpful in a foreign city. The hotel was just 2 blocks from the Metro. It was very modern and clean. Most signs, menus and notices were in both English and Spanish. The beds were more firm than I was used to and the pushed-together twin beds would separate creating a crack in the middle making it difficult to sleep close to my wife.
Very pleaseant staff, very well equipped hotel, one of best I have had the pleasure to stay in for some time. Certainly to be reccomended nothing
The staff, comfort and location were very good The poached eggs for breakfast were very poor. They were cooked, tasted of and presented in vinegar which soaked into the toast. My wife had to leave her full cooked breakfast as a result of this.
What I liked the most is how accessible to the metro it was. It was easy to get around Madrid and offered a quiet atmosphere which I very much appreciated. The staff was very friendly.
Clean room, good location and quiet. Good value.
breackfast 19 euros very expensive bar excellent
Pleasant and friendly staff
Room size, good A/C, and location The shower doesn't have lights, very slippy, and water gets out of the tub when showering.
New and clean.
Service, location and view were great. Rooms clean and comfortable and within easy walking distance to metro. Rates were very good as well.
Hotel was very nice, modern and rooms spacious and stylish The staff are abismal. Receptionists act as if you are annoying them, restaurant staff are rude and do not ever smile, the only nice ones are the cleaning ladies. This doesnt normally bother me so much but they were just so depressingly unpleasant it did affect my stay without a doubt. They should sack the lot of them and start again with the amount of people who need a job in Spain at the moment!
Nice room isolation
Great location, close to anything and anywhere you want to be in Madrid. The room was too small.
Superb rooms, and perfect location! I found some of the staff members at the reception desk a bit intimidating.
Close to everywhere and clean room Nothing to dislike
Good location. Comfortable, ckean room. Good size
Location View from the window on a interior court
the view from the balcony was superb. the room was large. no emphasis on free sauna etc
the ground of the bathroom was dirty around the WC. The frame of the door of the bathroom is broken.
Great location: shops, restaurants, bars and an underground station just around the corner. The room was quite spacious and had a small balcony. The staff was really friendly. The room was very noisy. To some point I do understand that because Gran Via is just under the window but then again the insulation of balcony doors could have been more proper and the windows thicker. And frankly, the room (inlcuding the bathroom) needs a serious updating. And there was no safety deposit box. Or there actually was one but it had no lock on it.
service room standard not so good
spacious rooms the variety of breakfast
good location. good hotel
Nice service from the staff N/A
The hotel is centrally located and very clean
Perfect coffe in the bar, good staff, quite modern, good location and amaizing terrace Quite small and poor room
Excellent staff, super clean room, amazing shower, I was completely satisfied. Didn't stay long enough to try the restaurant but it looked good ;)
The staff was nice and helpful although sometime English was a little limited. Right next to a subway station and although we had a street-side room it was quiet at night. breakfast is really over priced, just go to a cafe nearby.
The hotel is quiet, clean and the staff are attentive. the staff also spoke english which was a great help. I stayed at the hotel at the start and end of my visit to Spain and the staff were professional and helpful on both occasions. I liked the Hotel location as it was a nice area of Madrid and easy to get to the Metro station which was just round the corner. both the rooms I stayed in were air conditioned. The room I had at the end of my trip however did not have a control switch for the air conditioning and I found it a bit noisy.
We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was very good. Staff most helpful. Very happy with location We had no complaint about Gran Versalles
Very well connected to centre and various points of interest. It was cold during the night and even with 2 blankets we could not warm up. Bed was hard and not recommended to people with back problems. Several times at night and very early mornings we heard loud , extended noise, as if someone would move the furniture. It is still a mistery where this noise came from, very unlikely that the hotel guests made it. I would be curious to find out.
The stuff is really nice. The breakfast was rather rich. Just small things - no remote control for TV, and for me the room was a bit too warm. Otherwise it is good place to stay.
Nice place to stay as was within walking distance of all city ammenities but not in the center well its a 4* but would say its a border line 3* - 4*
The facilities at Gran Versalles was filled with comfort. The shower facility is different from the rest with separate shower head with clean towels and separated sink for each person. Thank you!
Recommended. We parked a car there; the garage is a tight fit. Everything else about or room and the assistance we received was simply excellent. We did not dine at the hotel, but only because we had other commitments.
it had good value for the money paid, and the staff was very helpful.
location (easy walk to the museums or to sol and grand via), staff, can easily book excursions from the hotel. air conditioning is very low, but open the window and the room cools down. air conditioning is too weak to cool the room on its own.
We arrived at around 11:00 in the morning and they were kind enough to give us an "early check-in". Room was really clean and there was a very nice toiletry kit on the bathroom. Nice little restaurants around the area. Although not at city "centre", it was really easy to get around, especially on the red bus. Would recommend Gran Versalles to everyone!
Very moderm, clean and efficiant. Great staff, simple comfortable design. Close to a large shopping centre with food and supermarket facilities and a great airport shuttle service. Amazing showers. Nothing to complain about at all.
Great hotel, but far from everything, in a middle of a industrial/commercial area. If you arrive late, it's difficult to find some food to grab.
The location to the airport. Not easy to get to public transportation from hotel to downtown area.
Appealing Building, modern, internet free available, computers available. Slow checkin at late evening, Breakfast little bit disappointing, scrambled eggs 2 mornings cold, cold draught trough breakfastroom. Asking for the way to Centre Madrid, received poor and incomplete information resulting in unnessecary waste of time to get to the centre. No Madrid Maps
Only stayed here for a night in between flights and it offered everything we needed. Loved the free shuttle to and from airport. This saved us a lot of money not having to buy a taxi. Also, the room was a lot larger than expected and very clean and modern. It's not really close to anything other than the airport though, so don't book here if you're looking for a good vacation spot.
Nice modern hotel, well fitted out. It was very hard to get a taxi to take us to the hotel late at night as it wasn't a long enough fare for them. 2 taxis refused to take us.
Staff were very helpful and buffet breakfast was excellent No
very clean and smart hotel the food in the dinner restaurant, was served steak and potatoes, overcooked and no vegetables or salad
It was clean, calm ,and the facilities very correct. The transport to the aereoport very good idea. The restaurant
The reception staff was resolutive but I think they were a little bit short of time to manage.
Location: Near the airport (hotel provides free airport transfer and it takes around 15 min on a weekend's night), shopping mall at a 7 mins walk, quiet zone. Rooms: Confortable, clean and functional. Hotel: Free wireless in the rooms, free internet access zone (for those that do not carry any device), a wiizone if you want to chill out playing some console games, reasonable breakfast. The free transfer back to the airport was overbooked.
For a 1 day layover in Madrid, best of 5 hotels, many similar that I have experienced. Will book here again. Great internet.
Well-located hotel. We had a top floor room that had a balcony that overlooke a monestery with its beautiful ancient tile roofs. No place to set up one, much less two, suitcases.
Their elevator is so unique! Very clean, amazing location for the money. Staff was really nice and helpful
Location and access to points of interest.
The central location of the hotel near Pl.Mayor, Puerta del Sol
Breakfast too expensive
Staff was very helpful (and most spoke english), quick response to requests (towels, room service), very good location near Callao metro stop Bathroom was cramped, you could smell cigarette smoke when running the ac
Beautiful hotel, facing nice old square. Check-in took 30 sec. Comfortable and charming: old-fashioned elevator, bell epoque decor... Bathroom big, new and clean. my room on second floor had a vague smoking smell, I had to open a window while out for a dinner
We stayed at the hotel 4 days and what we liked most was it centric location, within walking distance to everything in old Madrid, and close to bus an metro stops. Plaza San Martin is at the very heart of the city and very close (5 minutes walking) to such city highlights as Plaza mayor, La Opera, Palacio Real, Gran Via, etc. Corte Ingles (the department store) is just around the corner, and also there is parking available (although pricey, $28 euros per 24 hours) just outside the hotel (parking belongs to Corte Ingles). If you have a car, do not park on the city streets as they are "residents only" parking. Breakfast is not included, and if you chose to eat at the hotel, it is pricey. Just walk to any of the coffee shops close to the hotel and have a good continental breakfast at very low price (2-5 euros).
5 minute walk to Puerto Del Sol (Kilometer 0) and Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful. A little tough to get to if you are driving your own car. As is often the case in Madrid, it is off a side, side, side street so more conducive to walking than driving in an out. Would have preferred a second bed in the room vs. a rollaway for our adult son, although it worked out okay.
The location is superb! In the city centre, next to the shopping streets, the city discos and with a choice of 3 metro stations. Good value for money too! The breakfast room on the 6th floor has one of the best views of the city. Our room saw the inner court since we had to chose between a double bed or a nice view....but that was ok actually, quiet and neat. The one and only elevator is sometimes too slow but the hotel is a restaured old building with a long history. Absolutely worth the experience!
The location was perfect, the Jr. Suite offered plenty of room, the balcony was quite nice. The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. 1 room the A/C and the hair dryer weren't working properly and that was never resolved. The parking was very expensive. Need to vacuum under the beds.
I like its location ,near to metro stations (Callao and Sol) and well deserved . Also, breakfast buffet tasteful and good service . The room was confortable and space of its bathroom nicely shaped . This hotel is quite silence . Staff working at the Front Desk (ridiculous space !) lack of professional skills. Indeed , a no smart people . Also, at the first day of my stay (6 nights) , and in spite of my previous on line booking, they gve me a room without windows in the 1st floor .Smaller and noisy which standart can be compared with a one star in Eurpean hotel.
Well I like the breakfast buffet that's all. This wrongly starred hotel do not offer airconditioning in their rooms ,do you believe that. If you are asthmatic do not stay here, super dusty rooms, damp bathrooms ,no airconditioning means no air filtration This hotel is 2 not a 4 star hotel , when you see the name you think well Petit is a nice name but when you arrive at the hotel you realize that everything is really petit indeed from the tiny reception ,to the tiny elevators, tiny restaurant, tiny room.
Excellent location, everything worthwhile seeing within walking distance
the friendly doormen It was great!
The hotel is situated in central Madrid on a surprisingly quiet street corner. Both the room and its bathroom were spacious, spotlessly clean, well furnished and equipped. Staff was polite and helpful, their english skills varied. We asked for a street side room for light on an upper floor for quiet and we got one but we had to take two lifts and walk a long lonely corridor between them. A bit creepy late at night!
the staff were very helpful, room was clean
The closeness to the centre The bar of the hotel was too small and uncomfortable
very good location but the rooms are too small. The breakfast was excellent.
the decoration and attention to detail amazed us, stunning!!. beautiful hotel. staff very friendly and efficient. location superb, literally round the corner from neptune fountain, prado museum and thyssen museum. cocktail bar sooooo cool. restaurant mediteranean asian fusion not too expensive. and you might catch a glimpse of tom cruise as the church of scientology is across the road.
THe location was great, the room was very comfortable with a large bed. It was noisy becasue it was on the street and the walls are thin. Also think the staff could be knowledgeable about the area, especially place to eat.
The atmosphere is wonderful. The rooms are very nice and the employees are very helpful. Really enjoyed staying here.
Location is great, right in the middle of town, restraunts, bars tapas and shopping.my room was big although I took a superior room. There are no views from any room windows. I took the advice of other reviews and asked for a room away from corridor to be quiet Bad inroom breakfast. Also the morning buffet breakfast is not very exciting and too expensive
very comfortabe, interior design was great..
The hotel's location is a huge asset. It's central location enhances access to the various interests in the city. Room was slightly smaller than expected - but acceptable nontheless.
Location - excellent size room - TV channels poor - I do not watch TV but others may and would find it dissapointing
Location, helpfulness from staff, roof pool, fantastic room - two showers!! and great view also
Only the pool is the only big pool in Gran via sed the is open till 9 pm when summer time in Madrid is light till 11 pm First when I arrive after long fly from New York the told me the room no ready I bin waiting from 9 am till 2:30 pm service sooo slow line for the front desk is over size waiting and the worst the don't speak English well , when I get the room finely it was look sooo different from the pic and so small that I was can move there I sleep I wake up and I cancel all my rest of the stay in this hotel and I go to other hotel horrible experience never recomed this hotel
Location is perfect. Wi Fi it far too expensive. View.
swimming pool room walls where damaged: visible has had a water leakage on the roof, poor facilities, small room, not enough water pressure in the shower.
The location of the hotel was perfect and so was the parking service which is so difficult to find in hotels nearby. The room was really good, really confortable and clean. The staff were very helpful. The beds were too small for a hotel like this and I don't understand how possible it is to have staff in the reception who speak english so so bad!!
-The location was great -Staff was very helpful -The pool and roof deck were amazing -Hotel was very clean -The wifi was slow and it had a two device limit -The room was somewhat small
loction executive lounge marginal, no wine available
hotel statt , facilities , cleqnliness of hotel and room , situation of hotel hard of Madrid
location quality dropped a bit compared with my visit 5 year ago
The roof pool and the central location of the hotel
The welcome bottle of wine and flower and the fact that the maid service was efficient. No on site swimming pool.
location and its was realatively clean poor facilities no pool,no proper bar, limited seating in restaurant, staff didnt speak english and were not helpful
The friendly reception and needs all met in a straightforward way. We had a nice quiet room.
It was a lovely hotel with a helpful staff. Great location across from the Prado Museum. You can walk to all attractions. The room was a great layout with a sitting area downstairs from the beds. Restaurant/Bar were excellent. Hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival. They have a free computer if you need the internet. They also provide a CD player in the room. Wish I purchased the CD of Spanish music. Would highly recommend this hotel.
the good location I was deeply disappointed by the size of the room, and the fact that it needed a good refurbishment. I felt I paid I very high room cost for something that didn't warrant it. My guide book had said the Villa Real was a deluxe hotel; perhaps I was just given the worst smallest room on the top floor.
Great view and beautiful suite on the 5th floor
only location next to del prado museum and park The hotel must be 3 or 4 star and doesnt look like 5 star and it is too expensive. The bathroom was small and terrible and after a shower water pours down, the WIFI too slow and only free for 1 hour.
Room design was exactly I expected from photo. It had sitting area at few steps donw form bedding area, with sofa and coffee table wtih freash rose in the vase, gave more relaxing space after sightseeing in busy town. Hotel gives upscale/rustic/cosy feeling all together. Front desk personnel, porters, and door men were all nice. Location is great for sigtseeing and dining. A bar next to hotel was nice to visit for small drink or tea at late night too. Bathroom was clean but had a strong oddor (smell like sewer). Also, one day we were back to room duing day time to take a break from sighseeing, the noise from outside (from either roof or pipe repaire) was very loud. So we went back out to sightseeing.
The location and facilities are excellent. The staff, especially the front desk personnel, were great—very helpful and knowledge. Noise from other rooms and service vendors is a bit distracting in the evening. Breakfast in the restaurant is very nice but formal. it would be nice to also a venue that is simpler and more low key without the white linens
The location and friendliness of the staff was excellent.
DATED, ROOMS ARE LOUD, NO ISALATION CAN HEAR NEIGHBORS ON ALL SIDES AND CLEANING STAFF, THE BED WAS 2 MATTRESS PUT TOGETHER AND VERRY UNCOMFORTABLE, IM 5,10 AND MY FEET HUNG OFF THE END, ONCE INSIDE YOU FEEL LIKE A HOTEL FROM THE 70s THE DECORE IS OLD. THE BREAKFAST WAS AGOOD VALUE. OVERALL WE DID NOT ENJOY OUR STAY. MADE 2 PHONE CALL TO TRY AND GET A REFUND WITH NO SUCCESS, IT WAS SO BAD WE CHECKED OUT 1 DAY EARLY.
friendly staff. When I needed to call an ambulance for my husband who was unwell they were efficient and helpful a bigger restaurant for the evening would have been better.
The location, the staff, the room decorations, the room service, the quiet at night and particularily the breakfast. hi speed internet, Rather small elevators [to be expected in a building of that age], A/C a bit undersized.
Clean, nice staff. Great location. Strongly recommended!
It's clean easy access hotel No food available in the afternoon (not even a sandwich)after our arrival.
hotel had a great central location near lots of great bars and shops.staff very good toilet had damp smell
Free wifi, Centro, quiet, friendly, clean, exellent bed. Smelly pipeline, water on bathroom floor after taiking shower.
Just a block or two from Plaza Mayor and Sol. Most points of interest and diverse neighborhoods. The breakfast service was excellent. I also respect well executed retrofitting of old, historic old buildings. Minor, did not get one of the rooms with a French balcony.
Situation in Madrid, Internet access in Room No info on what number to call to get recpetion
Fantastic position and really helpful and friendly staff
staff v friendly. good location. nice comfortable room. bikes one morning the shower was only warm, but that was fixed for remainder
It was central placed in Madrid No
The location was ideal, the use of the internet. The breakfast was very nice, tasty and fresh. No english speaking channels on the TV. The room was a bit small.
This hotel is in a great location. It was easy to stroll around and see the sights and eat in great restaurants. Also, I felt safe here. The door is kept locked and is opened only by staff. The staff respect your privacy as well. This hotel should have a bar. The breakfast wasn't worth the 10 euros in my opinion. I hated the design of the shower! Impossible to have a shower and not flood the floor.
Yes, there are several reasons that I will not return to this hotel. The hallways smelled of smoke and dog urine. The room's inside smelled of smoke and dampness. I felt the sheets were dirty. I thought the room was too small for the price.
The location to the Plaza Major and Sol was perfect. The internet was reliable and accessible in the room. The showerhead was marvelous. The first room was very small and cramped, but after moving rooms, the second room was a bit more spacious.
The hotel was in a walking distance to most major touristy locations. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it is an old hotel, and rooms are somewhat small, latest renovations in rooms are impressive. Breakfast was not included, which allowed us to eat in a nice place across the street. It saved us from overeating and overspending:)) but if you don't mind 17 euro for breakfast - food selection there is great. Many Cab drivers in Madrid are not honest. Hotel staff got us an amazing reliable driver, who we used throughout our stay. (Her name is Beatriz. She only speaks Spanish. But she is punctual and honest and very pleasant - ph.662-272-407) . Keep in mind the temperature cannot be controlled from your room (at least in our room we couldn't). Simple call to the front desk, and it was adjusted to our comfort level. Only 2 small suggestions- I wish a gym in the hotel had water and towels. And I wish the hotel used different type of air freshener - automatic sprays, or diffusers. The one they use, that plugs into electric outlet, is doing more harm than good - it produced very unpleasant (for me and my family) smell.
Great location. Large, clean rooms. Daniel, our waiter and new friend, was outstanding in the sidewalk café and bar. Incredibly friendly and entertaining. The rest of the world needs to take a lesson on how to pour a drink. Not much. We did have to pull up on the "sidewalk" road, in front of the hotel, to have them take the car to park. However, this is quite common when staying in the larger cities in Spain.
Everything. The hotel was in immaculate condition. Its very central and loved the shutters to keep the city noise out.
Great location, helpful staff, clean and fresh rooms, brilliant bathroom, free mini-bar, welcoming chocolates and cava and Madrid is a brilliant city. Can we move in for good?
The staff was very pleasant and accomodated our need for a triple based on a simple e-mail. Although the room had no ash trays, it had cleary been smoked in. The wood floors help with reduction of smoke but the pillows and mattresses retain the odor.
I researched hotels for days to get the perfect hotel and the Preciados was perfect. The rooms are small but that is true of most hotels in Europe. The staff were great, the room clean, beds comfortable, the minibar was a great value. It's Proximity to the center was perfect for everything. I read the review "the rooms weren't as nice as they looked in the picture", that review made me nervous, but the rooms were nicer than the picture in my opinion. It was quite. I would deinitely stay there again. We went with my 2 older teenagers and my younger daughter. It was perfect... nothing
Free Wireless connection, free minibar, clean and well equipped room. Quite location of the room
Staff service I feel that the breakfast buffet was good but understaffed. You would the folks there running around and quarreling with each other due to amount of work and alignment.
Overpriced - offering poor value for money. I wouldn't stay here again. I also booked a Double/Twin room and received a single room.
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. they really made our trip a pleasure. Small things like extra chocs in the room (unexpected) also made a real difference. Excellent location.
Staff very extremely friendly
the front off staf are really help us with a perfect way & the houes keeper are more than great, just need litel more in english some department need ,english for comunication
Location and cleanliness all signs are in Spanish. the hotel is not designed for international visiters.
Top notch for a European hotel in terms of cleanliness and design. The location is not ideal, but taxis were easy to come by. Architecturally it's stunning. The rooftop pool is subpar (tiny) and has woefully inadequate seating.
Rooftop and lobby bars are amazing Design of the hotel was beautiful and extremely trendy
The hotel is very attractive, sleek and modern. The best feature is the location, just a short walk to Puerta Del Sol and tons of restaurants/tapas bars, and a pleasant walk to the Prado or the Palace Real. The desk staff were very helpful in identifying nearby restaurants and answering questions about Madrid. The bathroom amenities were outstanding, nice big towels and a great shower. Black out curtains and free internet were a big plus. Urban is very attractive and the rooms spacious by European standards, but ours on Floor 1 was very noisy. Not sure about the upper floors, but we heard everyone in the hallway, all the early morning preparations and the popular bar at night. The beds may be to European tastes, but far too firm for us - just a mattress on a platform. The breakfast was inappropriately expensive (a smaller, more affordable option - coffee, juice and croissants, perhaps?). We also missed being able to utilize some of the common spaces, esp. the roof terrace, due to many private functions. The desk staff were great but others seemed more interested in chic than service. This hotel is best suited for (much) younger people and business travelers.
Every thing was really excellent .. The staff were really friendly helpful , great guidance , with a big smile .. Very modern hotel , very clean and the location was really perfect .. The breakfast was not included in the room rate not even an option when I did the booking so I can include it with the booking
Hotel decor, nice room, central location No window to the outside from the room
As other people have said, it is the staff at this hotel that were really great and I have told people about it that I would not normally tell or make comment to. If all hotels used this one as an example of how to deal with customers from the point you enter it, travelling would be a lot more pleasant. It is the little things that they do so well and always cheerfully, they respond, they are good at what they do from the restaurant to the bar to reception and the doorman and porter. I dont know how they do it, but they need to keep the secret and keep it going!! The size of the gym and the pool!!
Location, the porter (very nice people) the restaurant There were no spa, in a 5* that´s not on.....
At EUR 22 plus per person, breakfast is too expensive. It is good, but out of proportion with what you get ...which ios a good breakfast.
Excellent Design. Great Location. Staff and Amenities. The bed wasn't very comfortable...and the sheets were like sand paper.
the service were very good +++ and very personalliti. and very near the center. the urban hotel desezin to my test. no.
Staff was unfriendly
The calm atmosphere and the beautiful interieur. Luxurious but still nice and comfortable. The price of two drinks was about the same as the price of one flight ticket back to Oslo . . . .. .
Great bed and amazing pillows....very quite despite its central location. Quite expensive breakfast (buffet) for what is offered.
Location of hotel Comfort of bed was spolt by squeaking everytime you moved in the bed!
Close to museums Over priced! Everything is outrageously expensive. Staff is not interested in the guest. No room facilities for heating water for coffee or tea. Not enough towels.
The location was perfect because our goal was to be able to visit the three major art museums within walking distance to our hotel. Parks, restaurants and shopping were also right there. The concierge was excellent in making flamenco arrangements for us. When I called ahead to check our reservation, the clerk answering the phone said that we would need to stay in one queen size bed and that to have twin beds would cost 500 euros per night. When we arrived, the registration clerk upgraded us to two twin beds at no extra cost.
Have stayed there before and was 'welcomed back'. It is ideally located, overall a very pleasant hotel. Excellent staff.
its close proximity to museums and sites. the high cost for internet usage.
Great location. Beautiful old hotel. Concierge excellent. Breakfast very expensive. Staff was not well informed of the hours of restaurant.
Excellent location. Modern hotel.
location was very centric they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
We stayed at this hotel for the fourth time, which speaks for itself. We recommended this hotel to our friends and again they were absolutely satisfied. Would we stay at the Petit Palace Mayor Plaza again? Surely!
The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
Location, location, location & fancy bathroom Heavily stained carpet
petit palace is a great location for cental madrid , great shops and restaurants within minutes walk , awful smell of drains in room 8 , needs better windows , can hear people and traffic outside window
Location was the only strength of this hotel. The carpets were dirty. There were just enough room for 4 adults. We stayed in a Petit Palace in Barcelona and the room were really spacious and decided to book with the same chain. But this one was way below expectations.
the best was the location of the hotel the horrible smell in the bathroom, real problem of drains in the hotel made the stay in the room not confortable
Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much! Rooms were small
location...laptop in the room & the free internet.
The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!
Stayed during a weekend and I had an very pleasant suit for a an affordable price. The beds and linen are fantastic, and the living room comfortable with sofa and chairs. Nice and big bathroom. Speedy internet and a fantastic view from the panorama windows. Don´t have room service. No direct entrance with car. Have to walk 200 meters.
Everything was excellent!
The room was pretty large and well furnished Maybe the fact that 2-3 waitresses , involved in the breakfast service , were not particularely motivated ( no smile ,...)
Location is excellent. The underground railway is right infront of the hotel. The staff of the hotel was very friendly. I lost my passport in Madrid and they were very kind to help me about that.
You should use the stairs for until second floor , then you walk across the corridor (long) to find the lifts.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Metro and bus terminal right out your door. The room was big, comfortable and clean. Garage parking was available I didn't mind a 30 minute commute to Plaza Sol but others might.
Good facilities, practical location (metro, business area) and efficient hotel staff
Excellent service, clean and comfortable rooms
Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, although my Spanish skills are poor. Location of hotel near centre of Madrid and access to public transportation.
the central location
Location, very close to Station
