10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful and luxurious B&B in centre of Woodstock
Cons: Nothing everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a lovely old building beautifully decorated and the owners are wonderful hosts. It is also in the perfect location for visiting Blenheim Palace & the local area
Cons: Nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience of staying at the Glove House was lovely. Comfortable beds and lots of little touches like Fresh milk in a flask for the tea instead of powdered milk. It is our second time staying there and we will definitely be back.
Cons: Nothing at all. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All done to a high standard and breakfast was lovely with a good selection .Very attentive host .
Cons: The only (very ) small criticism is that there was no tv in the bedroom in our room it was in the adjacent room .Although we don’t watch much tv it is a real treat when away to watch the news / tv etc as we slowly get up in the mornings .... other than this our stay was great and we loved the comfort of the bed and the care taken in the presentation of our rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My mother and I received the most warm welcome from hosts Francesco and Caroline who looked after us impeccably well during our stay. I can't recommend the comfort and quality of our room enough. We had all the amenities that we needed. My favorite part of our stay? Breakfast was the best I have had in a very long time. Francisco's italian scrambled eggs were a highlight. We had all the breakfast offerings you could think of: delicious pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, fresh jams, juice. What a treat and we felt so spoiled to eat breakfast in the most beautiful setting. The attention to detail was absolutely amazing and created such a special experience.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location close to Oxford, spacious rooms with everything you need. The copper bath was stunning! The breakfast was so delicious and the hosts were very friendly. I cannot recommend it enough and it’s a shame the stay was only 1 night. It’s rare to stay somewhere as nice as this.
Cons: Nothing except the bed was 2 singles pushed together.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning boutique hotel. The whole place was immaculate and Francesco could not do enough for us. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back
Cons: It was perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a very comfortable room which had all the facilities we expected of a boutique guest house. The breakfast was excellent.
Cons: I was a little concerned that parking was in a municipal car park with a restriction of 12 hours. However, this was not in reality a problem but needs to be made clear in the information provided.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome , very attentive owner , little details matter !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, the bathroom was luxurious ... and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
Cons: There was nothing to not like...

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms very clean, bed comfortable, access to a lounge, WiFi, owners very friendly.
Cons: Would’ve preferred to be asked about breakfast options on check in. Previous experiences in other B&B’s included cooked breakfast. Whilst what was on offer was good and eggs were offered after a while I’d have preferred options including bread/croissants which were just given.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the owners here are very friendly and helpful; they greeted us with refreshments, made dinner recommendations and reservations and were flexible about timings. All in all a very pleasant experience to stay here, thank you!
Cons: the only thing I would change would be to have a black out blind as the current one does very little to reduce the light coming in, and with an east facing room it is quite bright from early in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The room was excellent, really comfy bed, spacious bathroom and a powerful lovely shower. Breakfast was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Perfect location for local pubs and Blenheim palace.
Cons: The only thing to make it better given it was such a hot day/night would have been more and colder water, and perhaps a lighter duvet, but we didn’t ask so maybe that would have been an option. Otherwise flawless.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere and position. Charming hosts.
Cons: The room 12 en suite bathroom needs the drains serviced/cleared - run away was slow. Not a big issue but needs attention.

Pros: I thought the location for our visit was superb. The staff are a really friendly bunch, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was a good size.
Cons: There isn't much to say on this answer as I have no complaints. I suppose having an extract in the bathroom would have made a less steamy affair, but opening the window sufficed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, excellent staff and very good breakfast.
Cons: Certain areas could receive a bit of TLC.

5.5 Okay
Pros: The location and breakfast were good.
Cons: The room was dark and dreary. It was a hot day and the small fan was very noisy, keeping us awake. The bed was small and the mattress worn. The shower screen did not close from the inside. Tissue box was empty and the lighting poor. Expensive for what it was.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved having the pub below. The site was perfect for our Blenheim Palace excursion. All the staff were top notch; considerate, efficient, and pro-active.
Cons: Everything was grand but the heat... Mother Nature turned up her charm for us while there. But, lucky for us, the facility provided a fan. They were thinking!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quaint hotel, friendly staff, all good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location near Blenheim palace
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Slap bang in the middle of Woodstock, and a 10 minute walk from Blenheim Palace. Very friendly and helpful staff. The accommodation is not cheap, but there is limited space in Woodstock so all places are expensive. The evening meal was very good value for money, and we spent a lovely evening in the beer garden sampling the excellent selection of beer.
Cons: Room was quite dear, but then everywhere in Woodstock is expensive.
The Blenheim Buttery - Woodstock - Bedroom
9
8.7 Excellent (579 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Woodstock, The Blenheim Buttery is within a 15-minute drive of Blenheim Palace and University of Oxford.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Buttery's location was excellent and the staff were very, very good - could not have been more helpful explaining to us where to park and how to get to the Country life show..
Cons: I don't think the room and breakfast warranted £120 a night. We travel around the country quite extensively. The bathroom was tiny, absolutely tiny! You couldn't get in it without squeezing round the door and once inside it was too small. They added a premium rate because of the popularity at the time re the Country Life show at Blenheim Palace. A lovely, lovely village though absolutely beautiful.
4.0 Okay
Pros: We were there when the weather was extremely hot and thankfully a fan had been provided in the room.
Cons: The room that we were allocated was not at all similar to those photographed on the website. It was a 'standard' double but was very small and the bathroom tiny. The toilet was not clean and the drain missing from the bason.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just very good value for money
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcoming staff & great breakfast choice. We had a fan in our room on a very hot day! The Jasmine filled Courtyard. Brilliant location to be able to walk to Blenheim.
Cons: The room could have done with a dressing table... Would have been more useful than two armchairs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and the staff friendly. It was in a marvellous position for Blenheim palace which is why we went
Cons: My sofa bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. No vegetarian option at breakfast eg. Veggi sausage
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the building , the location to Blenheim palace which I was there to visit , and the area of Woodstock , with its buildings and array of places to eat and drink.
Cons: room wasn't massive but acceptable . shower was a bit small for me. 16 st.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation is fantastic we couldn't fault it, the breakfast was excellent all the staff were friendly. The buses were a 5 minute walk away. We specifically stayed in Woodstock as we went to the pop up theatre in the grounds of Blenheim worth going to if you like Shakespeare. The coffee shops are excellent with so many yummy cakes and a Coop is 5 minutes down the road and open till 10'oclock. There were even armchairs in our room which are always nice to come back to after a day in Oxford. I would totally recommend the accommodation to anyone.
Cons: it was all good no down sides at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: On early arrival before a special party we needed to change. We were allowed to use our booked room to do so before they had finished. Laura arranged this for us within minutes, we thank her so much as we had just had a long journey up from Dorset. The room was lovely, the bed exceptionally comfy. Lovely bedding and towels. Food and service perfect. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful location. And so close to our party at Blenheim Palace. What more could we ask for. We will highly recommend you to anyone. Karen and Duncan Lewis. Thank you.

Pros: The staff was very helpful in advice about travel plans. My room was in another building with steep stairs, but it had lots of quaint charm.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for Blenheim Palace. Helpful and friendly staff

Pros: Friendly staff and atmosphere
Cons: Very warm room as air con had broken down
6.8 Good
Pros: location great for Blenheim palace visit. Young lady who served us at breakfast was very pleasant.
Cons: No table reservation had been made which as a resident of the hotel I would naturally expect. We could not have a reservation before 8 pm when we wanted to eat earlier and then no outside table was available as open to the public. Only alternate was to eat in dining room with only 2 other tables taken and with no atmosphere. We ate in pub across the road which was much better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff n hotel walking distance to the palace and loved the gin bar
Cons: The stairs
7.0 Good
Pros: breakfast excellent and receptio staff at checkout superb
Cons: Management staff attitude in evening. They had a large party in the restaurant and and made it very clear they didn"t want anyone else even though we were residents! As a result a number of residents were eating in other restaurants. Room had no aircon...it was a suite! Third bed was a very uncomfortable sofa bed and my son had a poor nights sleep
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully decorated and a great location
Cons: The floor in our room sloped very badly which may it uncomfortable to walk around
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and bedroom

5.8 Okay
Pros: Pub restaurant was fantastic. Great quality food. Service very good.
Cons: the decor - the room was like staying in a hospital. Room was terrible. Poorly decorated. A magnolia/peach box with all the appeal of a room in a nursing home. Terrible. I didn't stay - went home in the end, the room was too depressing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner were great and all staff were super friendly and helpful.
Cons: My room was right next to the employee exit so I was disturbed a coiple of times at night when staff left for the night and were having a chat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the service food and accommodation was very good although large portions. The location was perfect to visit the countryfile live show only 3 miles away. Also only a few miles to drive to the park and ride which takes yoy to Oxford.
Cons: not having a fridge or a fan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay and not to far from Blenheim Palace. Fantastic choice for breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Couldn't open windows in the room we were on the top floor. I know its for safety reasons but if you could just open them a little it would be great.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: breakfast very good,no waiting. Room was spacious and well appointed.
Cons: more choice on the menu
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was good for Blenheim Palace and not to far from Oxford. The food was excellent for breakfast and a meal. The staff where very friendly and helpful.
Cons: This is a little unfair as we were originally given an upgraded room which was lovely but I was unable to make the stairs to the first floor. We asked if we could be moved to the ground floor which was sorted straight away. The only shame was we were then in a non refurbished room which was still okay but the bed was extremely uncomfortable with springs in the mattress. The kettle still had water in it and the bathroom bin had not been emptied.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: every thing was lovely all very clean very friendly staff excellent evening meal and a very good choice for breakfast. We shall definitely return to this hotel

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel - don't be put off by its location next to a business park/industrial units. Close to Blenheim for events or visiting the palace - but you need a car to get there unless you are v good walkers. 5 minute walk to the nearby railway station.....use the train to travel into Oxford. Freshly cooked breakfast.
Cons: No negative comments
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant large room. Interior design was modern and bright. Staff very cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was within walking distane of train station and only 9 mins to Oxford. Very short drive to Countryfile location. Surroundings - almost on an industrial estate - was not the most scenic, but this did not affect us unduly. Plenty of nice pubs within short distance for diner.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location to Blenheim Palace was excellent, great pub up the road was also very convenient, as the hotel didn’t have a restaurant for evening meals.
Cons: The room was small for the price, the breakfast was nice but a bit cold, no restaurant either.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Rooms were comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast was poor. First day long wait and overcooked, second day they were running out of items.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff checking me in were friendly and welcoming especially Yan. I travel to nice places a great deal with work but I must say my room was both large and quite lavish with a nice spacious ensuite and the shower was very good. The beds are extremely comfortable and the eggs benedict breakfast (that was actually included) was superb - I'm definitely going back next time I'm at the Oxford office.
Cons: I just wish I had found this place sooner and avoided a few of the not so nice places I've stayed at whilst in the Oxford area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff extremely helpful, plenty of car park space, quiet room, larger than expected, good storage, loved the bathroom, not cramped, Table and chair to work at, as well as chairs to sit in. Comfortable firm bed, plenty of pillows, blinds and curtains!

Pros: Food, both breakfast and evening meal were well cooked and presented. Although comfortable, I would say that the décor is a little tired and could do with a spot of tlc. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind. All was as expected.
7.5 Good
Pros: The host went out of his way to prepare us dinner when the kitchen was already closed... also handed us a list of of sightseeing places with post codes which was most helpful

Pros: Very comfortable and clean. Excellent food and friendly staff.
Cons: Advertised as being in Woodstock but is actually 2 miles outside. It’s a 40 walk into Woodstock.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was good. We didn't have time to linger over breakfast, but we felt we could have asked for more coffee and toast and stayed longer.
Cons: I'm not a lover of stairs and if I was given the choice I would have opted for a ground floor room. This is of course not a criticism, but an observation.

5.3 Okay
Pros: enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find
Cons: located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was perfect fro Blenhaim Palace.
Cons: At £278 plus £10 parking fee it should offer far more than it delivered. The room was small and humid, with no A/C nor through breeze - maintenance was poor (bath/shower seal dirty and broken; cracked paint on sills and walls; cobwebs everywhere, dirt and dust on surfaces, fly droppings on windows and sills. The bed was comfortable but small - with the heat we did not have a good night sleep. Restaurant was poor - boasted 2 Rosettes - but the menu was limited and uninteresting - my wife had bresaola, which was just put on a plate with rocket and parmesan on top and then had Trout of the Day, which I had cooked the exact same dish last week, so it was not special. I had the risotto as did not fancy anything from the limited menu (only 6 items from memory including 2 steaks, fish and chips, catch of day - no specials done save for a soup and catch of day) - risotto was ok, walnut and cheese gave some flavour but did not get to the good level, Wine list was limited and uninteresting - asked for 2 x Kir Royale and was told the bar was small and they could not do them - so we settled for water to complement the rest of the meal - believe we paid a £30 each supplement to include dinner and for £60 excluding drink this was just not worthy. Breakfast was ok , again I believe there is a £30 supplement included in price for this and for that price the buffet and quality was not good - congealed eggs and wasps in the honey and rock hard bread were just not up to standard. Overall the price did not match the facilities offered and on our special occasion we were glad for and turned to the location, local cafes and the Palace to save the weekend. Disappointed the Bear is in no way the special destination
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, food and rooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were very helpful and gave us a ground floor cottage room as requested for my partner . The room was lovely and my stay with the bear was very nice I will be returning in December .
Cons: The price of the breakfast was a lot at £18 .. so we ate at the the Blenheim buttery which was an impressive £5 and very delicious .
7.5 Good
Cons: Someone emptying bottles into the bin at 0630!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent
Cons: The bar and restaurant staff were poor The menu included items such as fish and chips and burgers which are not in keeping with a hotel of this class The wine list was prohibit ably expensive especially with burgers! There were very few reasonably priced wines One guest was heard to observe that it was all a bit like Fawlty Towers And to pay £10 per night to park the car was sheer robbery
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bar staff were great and the hotel is very nice and in a great location, so handy for wondering around Woodstock and close to Blenheim Palace
Cons: The en-suite was a little small, no air conditioning, check in was a little strange with regards payment for the room!
6.8 Good
Pros: Clean, good location
Cons: Reception staff and restaurant menu. Menu very basic and lacked inspiration. Puzzled before we arrived as to why no menu available on line. Highly unusual. Now we know why. Dined elsewhere in one of the many local pubs. Breakfast actually nice and of good value

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely food and plenty of it staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: Only a couple of things that can be sorted the toilet seat was peeling and a coffee stain on the bedside table otherwise a lovely room and a very enjoyable stay!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location was useful for the country file event. Nice staff. Dinner time was better for food quality.
Cons: Could smell and see the mold in the room. Single bed was really uncomfortable. Could feel and hear the poor mattress quality. No tea bags topped up. Disturbed at 1am by next doors room shouting and banging. Breakfast was sad looking with old mushrooms and simple bits of toast. Then a GDPR breach occurred by emailing me the incorrect details (some other residents details were sent to me)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, I was made to feel very welcome
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Traditional old building on top of a pub with lots of character. Lovely staff that made us feel very welcome. Great location with so many things to explore and do.
Cons: We had the family room right at the top. The last set of stairs is very narrow with extremely low ceiling. Wasn’t a problem for us, but might need to be considered by others.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Extortionate cost for a basic room
9.5 Excellent

3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Self check in. Nowhere on booking.com was stated that there is a Shared bathroom which was in a terribly dirty state in the morning. I found dirty socks in drawer and Hair on bed. Floors were Very squeaky and there was No sound insulation at all. Window wouldn't close properly, didnt feel safe. Property difficult to find, no signs outside. Very restricted parking.
6.3 Good
Cons: There was no mirror in either the bathroom or the bedroom Considering I was due to be at work at 7am, I really needed to check my appearance and was unable to do that properly before leaving the house.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Facilities are very good Well thought of
Cons: Nothing
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Don’t like at all!!!!
Cons: 1.The house Mouldy smell, 2.When you walk the floor got funny noise, 3.The room 1 door broken when I check in time (19th June 19),the crack between a door can see inside room!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Clean bedding. Clean dining area, well equipped kitchen
Cons: We arrived and rang the owner to get the code for the key box. There was no answer for a good 15 minutes. We finally got a message with details of the code. Today (8th July) we received an email with the details. 2 days too late. Our bedroom (No 5) had a really strong smell of disenfectant (TCP). Opening the windows made no difference. The shower on the ground floor looked like someone had been cleaning trainers in there. The ground floor toilet and shower room was a bit grubby, so we didnt use the shower and just cleaned our teeth in the sink.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Public transport to Oxford very nearby.
Cons: Not too clean, breakfast isn't very hygienic and you have to take care by yourself. My door was completely broken. Very small room. No clothe hangers so wardrobe was useless
7.5 Good
Cons: Having to cross the hall to the bathroom an ensuite would have been better. An outside sign is needed. The Rose's growing across the gate way.
6.3 Good
Pros: Clean, plenty of things to eat at breakfast but in future we will not stay here again and another guest said the same thing.
Cons: One of the rooms we booked (Room 1) had the top two screws missing from the outside door handle and one of the door panels had been partially smashed, as if someone had tried to break into the room. The door lock didn't work every time, maybe as a result of the damage, or maybe because someone got locked inside the room and someone tried to break though the door. I texted the owner and the person who looks after the property, immediately after arrival, to tell them about the damage but they didn't reply. Communication before we arrived was poor ... only when I texted the owner a few days before we arrived did we get any information about our room numbers and how to access the house. When the owner & housekeeper replied, they were both polite & helpful, though. The house is noisy ... when people talk in their rooms, you can hear their conversations. The laminate floors creak when people walk about. The bathroom door sticks and you have to push hard to shut it and pull to open it, which makes noise in the night when people use the toilet. Not good.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is convenient!
4.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was self serve continental so I had what I wanted and there was a reasonable selection
Cons: Nowhere near 5 star. No table or chair in the bedroom, both taps on the tiny sink in the downstairs toilet were loose, there was no plug in the sink and the mirror (which had been placed on the cistern) had to be put on the radiator in order to have a shave. Wooden floors meant that whenever any of the guests were walking around it was noisy. The front door was extremely difficult to unlock once the key had been extracted from the black box outside the front door. Grossly overpriced and an experience I have no intention of repeating.

Pros: Whilst the room was a tad small (Green Room), but that’s what we paid for, everything else was spot on. Hard to judge rom size from images.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent little stopover on route into Oxford and at an excellent price. I was worried that I would be able to check in due to no signs of life but the mobile phone number was answered and I was shown to my room quickly at 1am.
Cons: The room was a little warm but that is just personal preference. I didn't feel right not being able to speak to someone to check out but was in a rush.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Didn't have breakfast, ten pounds for a bowl of cornflakes and a yogurt did seem a little too much. The bed linen was clean and the beds were reasonably comfortable. However, one had a "squeak"that was very audible when one moved!
Cons: The whole place looked "tired" and everywhere was in need of redecoration. It didn't look particularly clean and this was reflected by the dust/dirt transferred from our feet onto the bed sheets after walking from the shower room without shoes on, (no carpet on floor). No bedside table necessitating the need to walk to the other side of the room to extinguish the light. Both room and shower room extremely small, however it is what it is, a cheap overnight stay. The tea/coffee making supplies had not been checked and there was a mouldy milk sachet (opened) in the dish.
6.8 Good
Pros: N/A
Cons: The manager never answers his phone and he's never in the office. He also didn't answer when I first arrived so I had to wait half an hour in front of reception. My cups were never cleaned. The kitchen is filthy.
