The front desc staff were absolutely wonderful and most helpful in both the usual ways and also in requests that were less common, Like coming out to help me use the parking meter We liked everything
Very central and for Reykjavik excellently value. Breakfast and locale
The location of the hotel is perfect for walking around the shops and grabbing dinner. Our room was really small especially the shower. We both banged our arms on it trying to shower. Not what we are used to.
The location was great with plenty of street parking nearby. We are only a few blocks away from the main church. You can easily walk anywhere n the Reykjavik area. The room was also comfortable and very clean. The Snaps restaurant is also great for a meal.
Nice room in great location. Simple, elegant hotel. Would definitely stay again.
The front desk staff was amazing. They helped us several time with questions we had We rented one of their apartments for a couple days and it was huge. Wonderful street views and easy walking distance to everything you need. We never ate at their restaurant but we have heard is very good and reasonably priced.
The friendly front desk staff + the view of city/harbor from the room. No on-site parking. Free parking in nearby lot from 6 p.m to 10:00 am...I had to get up and move the car to an area about four blocks away for the rest of the day...otherwise pay about $ 1. per hour to park.
Attractive Scandinavian decor, perfect location, cheerful and knowledgeable 24 hour staff.
Location, view from room and very service minded staff.
Great location. Easy waking distance to harbor area. Very nice staff. Very good Breakfast. Restaurant extremely busy every night with locals and tourists so difficult to have dinner without reservation. Very noisy until after midnight every night as patrons exited restaurant/bar and hung around on street below our bedroom. Recommend you request room at back of hotel or bring earplugs
Location Working on the room above use for two days. Couldn't. Be in our room during the day to relax. While on vacation till after 18:00..
We liked the location near city center and the view out our 3rd floor balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower was especially welcome after a day of horseback riding and sightseeing. The restaurant in the hotel, Snaps was very accommodating by seating us near closing. They served an excellent meal. On street parking was a little unnerving but turned out fine. It seems that after 6:30pm free parking on the streets is a free-for-all in Reykjavik with anything goes.
We loved the swimming pool and the Hotel bar. Great food and service. The staff was very friendly. We didnt get the hotel we thought we would, but it turned out that we were fine. The hair dryer was too old, I couldn't wash my hair for 3 days cause I wouldn't be able to dry it.
Great staff and very help full.. Great restaurant with okay prices even for a student..
Good parking, location, room size Right next to airport runway
The room and all amnesties were great. Very comfortable for our last night in Iceland. The extra charges for breakfast were quite high.
Service and staff.
Crisp, clean rooms. Sharp lines very modern look inside Breakfast is a barely mediocre buffet for 3000isk (about $30) a person
Nice rooms, welcoming staff at reception, very clean and comfy. Not walking distance to downtown Reykajvik, but still a very pleasant hotel. If you are going to leisure I would make sure you have a rental car. The restaurant wasn't that great, (underdone chicken), waitstaff wasn't friendly, especially if your breakfast wasn't part of the package. The spa staff gave contradictory information to reception staff, so better communication would've been helpful .
Located directly next to domestic airport in Reykjavik - very convenient since I flew in/out of airport - walked to airport - no need to take expensive taxi - clean room - friendly staff
Location. Even need to catch taxi to the Reykjavik airport so there is no real benefit of staying there.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with information on getting around Reykjavik. The food was excellent. Loved the Folk art and displays in the lobby. It was a very nice stay for my first visit to Iceland. The only thing that didn't work was th TV in our room. When the staff couldn't seem to fix it we were given vouchers for a beverage of our choice from the bar. It worked out just fine, instead of sitting in our room we went out and about the city and had a great time, better than TV any day!
Stay at the same location as the conference and I used the swimmingpool in the morning
Nice location, but the rooms were dated, the TV was very old, the wifi worked intermittently, the breakfast buffet was pricey, and the beds were not comfortable.
laid back fun atmosphere There was nothing I didn't like
Just the cutestest hostel ever. Very trendy, clean and comfortable. Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms and showers. Guests were very respectful. Had no trouble sleeping in the evenings. Great bar and sitting area in the reception area to drink and meet other travelers. Food was delicious at the restaurant. Excellent location, located on the main road, central in downtown. Most tours pick up just outside their door steps, as well as local bus stops. Although, it's easy to walk everywhere from there. Absolutely, love it and hope to stay there again one day. No negatives.
Decent price and location Much dirtier in person Kitchen appliances don't work (stoves, ovens, microwaves) so use and need of kitchen is pointless People staying there do not clean their dishes, and cleaning crew doesn't do them either, so there's always a sink full of dirty dishes and no utensils. Advertises soap and shampoo provided yet they give 1 tiny bottle of shampoo that people end up stealing so no soap or shampoo Same with the soap in the bathrooms. No soap. Checked out a day early (almost 30 hours early) yet told that no refund would be given because not given 24 hours notice (?)
Friendly staff, decent location, clean dorms, nice locker for suitcase. Not having bathrooms for both sexes on both sides of the floor. Layout of dorms not great. Bad internet
This review is about the two floors of the hotel which are a hostel, not a hotel. They lend you a tiny (nearly a joke, I guess) lock to put on the small cubby boxes in the room. 1000ISK deposit. The kitchen contains dishwashers. I stayed in a room with 12 or 14 beds. The doors on these rooms are "underdamped", meaning they are designed or adjusted to slam very very loudly if you let them close by themselves. It shakes not just the room, but is even obnoxious during the day if you're in a common kitchen or lounge down/across the hall. The door in my room was slammed AT ALL HOURS of the day except 12h30 -- 03h00 a.m. by the absurdly inconsiderate guests. The problem is that there is no effort by the hostel to tell people how to behave, and for some reason a large cross-section of the sample of young travellers in my room seem entirely oblivious to the surely-obvious effects of their actions on other people. There were no quiet hours announced. No one was told to close doors quietly. I was dumbfounded how people stayed up shouting, drinking, etc inside the dorm room (there are couches) until midnight, even when others were obviously trying to sleep, and the same people when they were on a different schedule, were up at 03h a.m. sharp talking loudly, and slamming the door countless times again. I mentioned to the staff that there was an educational solution (maybe) to this problem, but they didn't seem very interested. In addition to all that, the rooms, which look nothing nice as clean as in the pictures online (of course), have little cubby boxes below the beds where you supposedly can lock your valuables. The locking tabs are a bit of a joke, maybe, but in my room several were actually broken off anyway, so there was no way to lock them. This was my worst hostel experience ever.
Classy breakfast buffet, wide spaces in the dorm rooms, not too cramped, evening shift front desk worker "Gary the Great" is a not a cool friendly dude, but extremely helpful.
Staff is very helpful Smaller rooms on a busy street
Great location on the harbor; within walking distance of the main Reykjavik attractions; very cool vibe for both adults and children; excellent service.
bar was good breakfast location road outside can be loud
Nice parking lot Room was very warn, sheets did not fit the bed and furniture was dirty. Staff was not friendly. The hotel was not inexpensive and was probably the second worst I have ever stayed in. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel.
Luxury hotel Location was a bit away from the city centre. Taxi cabs are very expensive.
Everything about this stay was fantastic. The rooms were massive by European standards and so were the beds. They were heated nicely and had heated towel racks, lighting and tech was great. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location was pretty good. The only downside is you aren't right downtown but it's tough to say really what downtown actually is. It's such a big sprawl of a city so it's in Reykjavik but just not the heart I guess, they have a shuttle to make up for this.
They have all the basics. The hotel may be good for large groups/bus loads of people who need a place far from city center to rest for a night. Politely rude staff: At 1:45 PM and earlier they say "Checkin is at 2 PM". Service Industry speak for Piss Off. 1:58 PM, "Your room is not ready". 2:02 PM, "We don't know if it is ready" (communication problems with housekeeping?) They sometimes seemed annoyed answering questions people had about how to go somewhere in the city or which day excursions are available. "Here's a brochure." is their typical answer. They never tell you the actual details of where to go or what to expect. Rooms were very basic. Tiny pillows on bed. Two cotton comforters on double bed, each was the size of a large towel. Breakfast and Dinner are very over priced.
They were very Eco-friendly and "green." Pretty clean and modern. The staff was not very accommodating at all. I reserved a superior room with a double bed, and they gave us 2 twin beds. After speaking with the front desk, all they could tell us was that they are fully booked, and that you're never guaranteed the type of bed you want, but we could push the 2 twin beds together if we'd like. No, thank you. We were only staying there for one night, so we decided not to push the issue. Checkout is at noon, but after reading the hotel info they provide you with in the room, I saw they offer late checkout at 2pm as an option. So, that evening I called the desk to request late checkout, and the woman I spoke with could not give me a yes or no. She said I have to speak with the day staff. I called at 8am the following morning and the woman informed me again that they are fully booked. Ok, but I'm just asking to check out at 2pm. Check in for any new guests is at 4pm. That still gives cleaning crew 2 hours to get the room ready for any new guests arriving. I even tried to compromise and say can we at least stay until 1pm? We were catching the shuttle to the airport at 2pm from the hotel, and didn't have anywhere to go for 2 hours if we checked out at noon. She told me they could hold our luggage and we could go downtown and shop. No, I'm not risking missing the airport shuttle because you told me to go to town and spend $$. So after me asking the same question in 4 different ways, she finally said ok, you can check out at 1pm. Well wow! Thanks a million, Grand Hotel. We won't be staying with you on our next trip to Iceland.
The duvet. Very comfortable. The breakfast is included and very filling, especially to brave the cold of Rekyavik. The staff did mess up our tour reservation once and we had to ask management time and again for something to be done about it. The desk in the room had some coffee stains and the shower door does not prevent the water from going all over the bathroom! Plus the hotel was definitely a bit distant from city center.
Breakfast Buffet was excellent, lots of nice areas to sit in in lobby and restaurant. Nice staff.
The hotel was very clean, staff were helpful, our room had a beautiful view of the city and the water, and the room itself was nice. The double bed fit two large adults easily, which was a concern when we were booking. The bathroom also included a tub in addition to the shower. The lobby area was nice with large doors to see out when waiting for tour guides or cabs, and was filled with pamphlets of various activities. Hair dryer/iron & board/mini fridge and laundry service pick up available. The location was a bit further from the city than anticipated, it's listed as a medium walking distance, it is walkable, just not desirable on cold/rainy nights, approximately 20kr cab ride. The dinner buffet was fairly expensive and we didn't really care for it, we preferred the restaurants around the corner or in town and the cost was similar or less, potentially regular ordering tasted better than the buffet. No shampoo/conditioner/lotion, I always bring my own, but wanted to note.
Easy access, lots of parking, modern building and rooms Great to see Monaco and Cyprus Olympic teams there too,
Great service, friendly staff, range of services. 1-> Standard single room is extremely snug. Marvel of engineering how they are able to fit all the necessities into such a small area without compromising on available amenities. 2-> location from core downtown. Several free shuttles are provided however, the frequency is limited to a handful per day which may limit flexibility when sightseeing, etc.
Great view of the bay, executive lounge was first class.
The hotel was pretty good, however, nothing extremely special. It is for people who like an extra touch but do not go into extremes.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the restaurant was excellent. You can book tours from the operator in the lobby. Great views from our top floor room. We definitely recommend that you stay here and enjoy the beautiful country. Location is just a wee bit far away but buses or a short walk will get you downtown and closer to more dining choices
Very friendly staff, good food, beautiful room.
It was a good value for the money. Nice, airy rooms and I enjoyed being able to walk around the neighborhood. The hotel cost for breakfast was high. I have stayed at 2 other Reykjavik hotels in the last 5 years and breakfast was always included. The selection was fine but $20.00 us equivalent was high. I prefer the breakfast at Hotel Bjork and it was included in the room cost. Also the shuttle to town was conveneient but not the return to the hotel. It was inconvenient and wse had to take a taxi back both days because their was so much time to wait before 6 pm. I would like to see at least 2 other trips in that schedule.
Modern hotel with efficient staff. Spacious and clean. 20 minutes walk to town. Very expensive restaurant which even by Icelandic standards was just too much. We ate at Pizza hut around the corner.
I enjoyed the high end quality from top to bottom of the hotel! It was immaculate, stylish and staff was helpful and enjoyable. I would have preferred to have been closer to downtown so I could walk to the downtown area. However, that would mean having a big hotel in the middle of a great little town. I understand that they are building something closer to town that fits in to the surroundings, so I'll have to try that when it opens.
Clean and quiet rooms. A poorly communicated fire drill at noon while having an infant sleeping in the room is a life event.
Spa, staff, dining Need for a cab to get downtown
clean, good parking, good food management very inflexible on check out time. a 1 hour extension would have cost 25 US$.
Staff helpful and courteous. Everything was clean, tidy and well presented. The food was very good and the breakfast to die for!!
Somehow this isn't mentioned on their website or any reviews I've seen, but Hotel Alda gives each guest an android smartphone in lieu of a room phone. This phone works throughout Iceland, has reception on speed dial, and has all the other bells and whistles you'd expect of s smartphone: maps, activity guides, etc. A great and welcome surprise! Unfortunately for the hotel, but fortunately for Reykjavik generally, there is a bit of construction going on near the facilities. Not a big deal if you're getting up early to go on an adventure, but if you intend to sleep in do ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. This advice should be good through the end of summer 2015.
Location and view. Smal room, not much storage room.
The hotel was great. From the atmosphere and decorations to the people working there. The front desk staff were amazing and friendly. They were always ready to help and had a smile on there faces everyday. We got a family sized room for two people just because I heard the rooms might be smaller. However the room was bigger than I expected including the bathroom. You hear that the shower doors fold to make more room. However even extended there is enough room for the other person to use the sink or get ready. The hotel gives you a cell phone with data included, which was honestly amazing. I made the phone into a wifi hotspot and was able to use my own cell phone throughout the trip. Just bring portable charger with you as the phone battery dies quickly this way. The hotel is also located on the main strip and perfect walking distance from restaurants and bars. But a few blocks down so you don't hear the noise of the bars at night. We never tried the breakfast downstairs as we always had say trips planned in the mornings. There is a bakery down the street that is open early I can't remember the name of it but the front desk told us about it. Big enough to sit down and have breakfast, but gets packed as well so give yourself enough time if you have morning plans. The room does come with a pot to make your own hot tea and instant coffee if you are in a rush. Hard to say what I did not like about the hotel. The only thing I can think of is that the room gets very warm and with no thermostat to control temperature. We opened the window everyday however it only opens a tiny crack and doesn't stay open on its own. Probably from the wind outside. Just bring light pajamas with you and you will be fine.
Excellent location within walking distance to busy city center Great value for the money Friendly staff Prompt service from staff & housekeeping Nice little restaurant in the lobby For some reason the TV was messed up most of the time (would get frozen on certain channels and would have to get up and turn it off). However, was not in the room much, so this was not a big issue.
Location! You can not beat the location of the Centrum. Also the front desk staff is awesome. They can book all of your excursions for you and if you would like dinner reservations, they can suggest where and then make the reservations for you. The hotel bar happy hour was excellent if you like beer and craft cocktails. The room size was a little small and there was no place for a second piece of large luggage. Also, even with the radiator in the off position, the room was extremely hot. We were forced to sleep with the windows open. The amount of noise coming from the street from cars and people at all hours of the night caused us not to get a good nights sleep in the 8 days that we were there. I wish I would have brought ear plugs.
Having travelled extensively around the world, it was a pleasure to be greeted by service minded, smiling, friendly staff. The hotel was relaxing and stressless. Maybe, a little more attention should be made to controlling the facilities inside the room. Ensure things are regularly maintained in the bathrooms with drips, leaks, and edges correctly sealed with silicon. Minor issue, but essential to retain the hotel profile
Close to old parts of town. In fact, hotel is built over museum for first settlement.
It was clean, desk staff were pleasant The hotel had messed up the reservations. My reservation through Kayak was fine. However, a hotel block that was to be released 45 days before my arrival was still on the books (I was joining a hiking group) and they tried to get me to pay for that supposed reservation. In talking with the agency that had arranged the room block for this particular hiking group, this is not the first time that this hotel has done this. In addition, a friend of mine who had confirmed her reservation at Hotel Centrum before leaving the US, received an e-mail that they were overbooked and she had to go to another hotel---even though Hotel Centrum had double bookings and indeed did have rooms.
The hotel is centrally located in Reykjavik and next door to some excellent restaurants. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.
The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions about places to visit, providing maps of the city, and arranging the shuttle to the airport. The Location is perfect, right in the centre of the city and close to shops, restaurants, the city lake, and sites. I think it's so unique that the hotel is above a Viking settlement (museum). I Loved this hotel! Although the breakfast is great, I do think it's a bit pricey per person (14 euros or $18 canadian).
Outstanding staff. Very clean. Very central. Convenient bar and restaurant. Slow wifi.
It was homely, comfortable room, nice surroundings, fantastic location, love the building on the corner of the centre of Reykjavik, close to the harbour and lots of great restaurants & cafes & museums. Steff were friendly, breakfast was nice. Breakfast was pricey especially when you could get a huge cooked breakfast and warm coffee down the road for less. tea and coffee facilitirs in the room were poor, there were 2 of us and they didn't have pairs of the same kind of tea bag, no milk, small cups, little sugar, we bought ours from the supermarket. Internet which we paid for kept stopping working but when we called it was fixed and when we mentioned it again at checkout it was deducted from our bill, so was ok in the end.
Location in town. Ridiculous price for room that had no amenities. Paid five star price for two star motel. Room small, bed uncomfortable. Everything extra.
Location was good. Parking was listed but it was public parking. We had to drive around and parked a few blocks away.
cafe and breakfast
proximity to downtown and shopping; friendly staff; comfortable lobby; luggage storage room. It was unfortunate to not be able to get into our room earlier since it was requested at the time of the reservation and our flight arrived from the US at 6:30 am. Also, our room was lovely and spacious, but way too warm and we were unable to be comfortable without the windows open, and the noise from the bars on the street was so loud, we had difficulty sleeping. I'd suggest air conditioning or blankets that aren't so hot so that we could sleep!
Great location. Quiet and close to everything. Room was adequate for my purposes and comfortable to sleep in. The staff was helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back.
Staffs are very attentive to customers. refrigerator door key should stay unlocked once unlocked until locking again
Excellent restaurant There should be more sitting area(s)
the location was second to none, city centre. very accomodating and friendly staff, a true credit to the warm and inviting icelandic style nothing
Very nice hotel. Good location, nice rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows. Municipal parking is very close to the hotel. The restaurant is very expensive.
Clean rooms, nice decor Not best value for the money. Breakfast expensive
The building was beautiful, and the rooms were very nice. Our television did not work most of the time. The hotel advertised a flat screen television. In as much as we certainly did not go to Iceland to watch tv, the television was also set up for viewing the bill on line, setting up a wakeup call, etc. It was also a problem because it was so noisy outside that we did not sleep. We usually would have just turned the television on to offset the street noice, but we did not have the option. This was a lot of money to pay without getting a good night's rest. It is actually the principle of paying so much for less than advertised than the actual television itself.
The hotel has a brilliant central location right next to the parliament (which is actually so small that we almost missed it) and all the major nightlife and shopping areas. Also very close to the harbour. The rooms were lovely, warm and cosy - beds very comfy! We had a great stay at this hotel, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was too expensive for what it was. One thing that we felt the hotel could improve on would be a spa area - perhaps a project for next time?
Quiet, private. I arrived at 7am but paid for the night before because I needed to sleep. At 12 noon it here was a nock on the door and a moment later a phone call. They wanted me to check out even though I had a five day reservation . Actually should not of been charged for the first day because I didn't get what I paid for, sleep. The staff was always to busy on the computer to acknowledge guest unless you engaged them.
The room was large by European standards. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.
Very nice staff. Good location if you want to be in the City Centre. Not a good location for anyone who wants to get sleep on Friday or Saturday night in the summer, due to young people who party all night in the streets outside. Very noisy until about 5:30 a.m. But a good place for young people who want to be at the center of the action.
Very good location. The staf was friendly and the high speed internet connection was highly appreciated. Soundproofing needs to be improved, we could hear people talking in the room next to us, even though they were talking low.
The art gallery and the food. The entire hotel is like a huge art gallery. The staff is very friendly and the kitchen excellent. I can recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Reykjavik.
Friendly and helpful staff, good location. Two single beds used as a double, very uncomfortable.
Very good staff, clean and comfortable, splurge restaurant. Arranged several details including transfers and day trips via the staff. Quick walk to old town in both directions - reflecting pool or Hallgrimskirka. Solid. Not cheap, rooms are not large, but that's not their fault.
Helpful staff, good location. Room was quite small
Quiet location, but 10 min walk to everything. Breakfast buffet (hot) included. Absolutely best staff attentive, accommodating, engaging. Houses one of the finer restaurants in the city plus a nice bar downstairs. Tea and coffee and mini bar in the room. Would absolutely stay again. Single rooms on the top floor are drafty because of the balcony doors.
Very noisy from street traffic. This may turn me away from visiting again.
The young lady receptionist there helped me a lot re the confusion of tour operator about location of picking me up. Really appreciate it.
hotel de charme .... we really enjoyed our stay there. everything was perfect!!!
The art. Wi-fi availability. Friendliness of the staff. Warm a touch of traditional and old fashion The rooms were just a little tired but nothing a make-over wouldn't fix. Could hear the traffic a little too much.
Excellent Location, Great Service, Fabulous Restaurant. They even gave us a free upgrade as they were not too fully booked. The staff were very friendly and could help with anything. Certainly a great base from which to enjoy the City of Reykjavik or from which to take any of the multiple day tours on offer (which the staff were helpful and informed of to help organise). I will stay here again next time.
Location was easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful. They say that they provide a hot breakfast, but I found that this really meant just buffet style eggs and bacon. Everything else was more of a continental breakfast style.
The breakfast was very nice, the rooms were clean, it was a quiet place to stay at, it was not a far walk (5 minutes) from the main downtown area.
Very comfortable rooms, good breakfast and helpful staff. Free guest computer was available for checking emails etc. Easy walk to resturants and tourist information office.
Close to everything, but quiet. Beds were comfortable, staff were nice. Parking available. Breakfast was sufficient. Internet access Small tv's and showers, but this is typical for Iceland.
The receptionist was very helpful. Rooms in good clean condition and attractive restaurant attached was very convenient.
Warm, comfortable and clean room with plenty of hot water for the shower. Tv remote was difficult to work. Not enough tea, coffee, sugar & milk available in the room.
The staff was very friendly and there were no bad surprises of any kind. It is not in a very busy area. I wasn't as close to stores and things as I would have liked on this trip. During a busy party season, it would be a quiet place to stay.
The warmth and flexibility of the desk staff (who had my room ready early after a 2:30 am arrival (Boston time) at the airport), and my lovely view of the mountains across the bay. Th desk staff also phoned the flybus when I left my gloves on it and packed me a sandwich breakfast for an early departure. The location is a little remote from the town, and the steps up are a little steep - but well compensated by the fact that the view is great!
It is a bit further from the centre on the ground than it looks on the map :) Still within the range when walking doesn't get annoying (takes 20 min or so). Friendly staff and good price (got 51 euro/night for a week long stay). Free Wi-Fi (but they seem to charge for cable connection). The room was rather basic (compared with "average" 3 star hotels "on continent") and I certainly would wish for a somewhat larger bed. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to be excited about.
Great Service, Very Clean, Very Hospitable. Bring your walking shoes, it is about 20 min walk to downtown, but its well worth it for the quality of this hotel.
Good reasonable food in related resturant. Good quite but convienent location. Staff most helpful and friendly. Our group of 6 had no complaints. Met or exceded all expectations for type of hotel.
Location and breakfast were great!
Tyeblocation, size of the room, value and the included breakfast No way to wash our clothes, no hot tub and only five channels to choose from
Everything. This place was fantastic. The Staff was helpful, the location can't be beat; you're in the middle of town, on the main street. walking distance to shops and restaurants. Nice size room, fridge - really the best value / location we stayed in Iceland. Good breakfast options compared to other places we stayed. Recommended. Nothing
Very clean and modern. I didn't realize it had a kitchen included. Perfect location, quiet but on a nice street right in the middle of everything. Good Buffett breakfast. Good security. Good heating.
The rooms and location were excellent. The breakfast was included but not that impressive.
Hotel was walking distance to shopping. Had a small kitchen with burners, microwave, refrigerator and dishes. Stayed 4 nights and made dinner 3 of those nights.Going out to eat very expensive Bonus (supermarket) is just 2 blocks away. Staff is extremely helpful. We arrived at 8am and there was a room ready for us. Make sure you get to breakfast on time. Close doors exactly at 9:30 and by 9:15 slim pickings on options. It could be that it is early but staff wasn't that welcoming for breakfast. Just basic offerings - toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, meat, cheese, yogurt. Was fine for us but for those who like a hot breakfast it isn't available They cut fruit in half so for those of you who like to grab and apple for later in the day that isn't an option.
Best location for shopping, central to the city. Complimentary breakfast is a great way to start the day--so convenient! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again! Although I didn't experience any noise (staying early in the week), I could foresee noise issues near the weekend and in the summer.
We booked a double room and it was really more like a one bedroom. Had a stove and separate seating area, was clean and we had no problems with noise!
Walking distance to most of towns best sights and restaurants. Felt very safe and the breakfast was great. I would stay here again. Parking was hard to find. That is to be expected when staying in any downtown area. Dining is expensive everywhere in Iceland. For a one in a lifetime place to see. It was still worth it.
Nice, clean, spacious rooms
Very clean, close to town and restaurants, shopping, tours and night life. Staff was great!
Staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Location is an excellent base for walking around shopping and restaurants in downtown.
