I liked the breakfast. We didn't like hearing the fire alarm go off at 3am in the morning & standing outside. Management & guests were very polite...they think someone was smoking.
The fact I could still get a smoking room.
After the fire alarm in the middle of the night and the chaois during the breakfast, leaving The breakfast conditions
Good location for my trip down to St Ives area, good stop of point going and on the way back up. Very comfortable, quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the breakfast. Clean room, big asset, would stay again.
easily assessable in the process of being refurbished. no notification until you arrived
better than expected for type of hotel soap dispensers in bathroom
was great for a quick easy overnight stay the pull out sofa for the children was amazingly uncomfortable, wouldn't have wanted to stay a second night
Good parking - near to motorway - clean no drawers to put away underwear - in fact all clothes had to be hung on a wall unit which looked very untidy
Clean comfortable and helpful staff heating
Helpful reception staff, pleasant decor, in very good condition. Good comination of being aboe to open windows and air con
Comfortable, quiet, large bedroom, good bar menu, excellent breakfast, helpful staff
Good room size, restaurant and bar
Very peaceful; attentive, friendly staff; good food; comfortable furnishings
The staff at the walnut tree were very friendly and helpfull at all times. Over all a very enjoyable stay .
Friendliness of staff
Attitude of all staff No outside window or natural ventilation to the room
We arrived after 11pm and the night porter was there to check us in (unlike the Old Vicarage where they cancel your reservation if you don't check-in before 10.30pm!!). The staff were friendly and cheerful. Breakfast was fantastic. The rooms (an Executive Double) were huge with a wonderfully powerful shower.
The staff were very helpful to my elderly mother. It was an excellent half way location for our trip to Cornwall. Would have preferred walk in shower.
Room was clean, quiet and adequately appointed. A 24 hour front desk in such a small town was nice. Breakfast was cooked to order and well prepared. The hallways to my room were narrow.
Very warm welcome from staf. The heating was off (only put on when we took key to room) and the room smelled damp and dank as a result.
Nice old hotel. Brasserie so-so. First breakfast one small butter (wrapped) for 2 people!! Both breakfasts no plates"!!
Very good service, excellent room The restauarnt was shut, not aware at the time of booking.
Service and style of the Castle Breakfast
Excellent service & restaurant
The hotel is ideally situated in Taunton. The bedroom was very comfortable with good flat screen tv. Booklet describing places of interest to visit was most helpful. Breakfast excellent, evening meal too fancy - prefer plainer food.
Location.Comfortable room Pretentious expensive not very good dinner.
The breakfast was excellent
The Castle Hotel is a stunning beautiful historic Hotel situated in the heart of Taunton, very convenient town's pubs and restuarants and in particular the Somerset County Cricket ground. Room were a bit small. Not value for money.
Reception desk staff very welcoming and helpful. ditto staff in the Brasserie. a very good meal there too The bathroom extractor fan did not work, we were rather disappointed in this.
staff attention to detail and care was exceptional nothing was too much trouble service in all areas was outstanding there was nothing not to like
beautiful surroundings. dinner over priced.
Peaceful, quiet, very relaxing. 10 minutes from motorway but did not feel like that. Elegance of the dining room, meal etc.
Great hotel, great and convenient location It will be even better when the building work is complete.
Friendliness of owners and staff (all local people). Very good meals and service. Well appointed bedrooms. A lot of the guests were repeat visitors, which gave the lounge area a social atmosphere. We would stay again !!
The Hotel owners and staff were friendly and hospitable, public areas were clean and well presented, breakfast was of a good standard and sufficient. On entering the Hotel there was an unpleasant odure, on entering the guest facilities the presentation of the Hotel dropped, decor being tired and worn, on entering our room 5 there was a pungent smell like raw sewage, The room was small cramped furnishings were of a low standard, cupboards had strong smell of tobacco, cieling was water stained, bedroom over looked a weed infested bank which had nettles touching the window, the smell was over whelming, value for money was very poor, points out of 10 I'm affraid 3, The owners act has to be cleaned up considerably, low class guest house, evening menue was very limited.
Very very friendly, lovely Breakfast, the room was very comfortable and clean. Will stay there again if we are ever that way again.
All adequate facillities Noise from room above until 0130 in the morning. Central heating noise and creaking pipes from 0545. Went home early did not stay for breakfast as too tired and feeling Ill. Did complain.
Very friendly relaxed atmosphere, food was lovely, good service nothing was to much trouble
This hotel was a magic find, outstanding value, outstanding staff, outstanding food perfect
Very friendly and helpful staff who were prepared to go out of their way for us, pleasant accomodation, very nice location
Comfortable The lack of a view. Couldn't get wireless Internet in my room.
The room was excellent and we thorughly enjoyed our stay Although the breakfast was excellent we would have preferred a buffet in order to expand the selection of options
We asked and were given a room upgrade as the pool was being demolished and rebuilt We had chosen this holel as it advertised the indoor heated swiming pool. Very disapointed not to have an indoor pool as this was advertised and we chose this hotel for this reason. The pool room (Cedar cabin) was in fact located in the grounds aprox 30mts walk from the main building (would have been a bit cold in Jan),the dining room was cold and lacked any atmosphere. We decided to eat out in the evening. A lot of money for B&B.
The food, particularly the breakfast. My room was too cold
The location is secluded and in a lovely position. There are numerous walks in and around the hotel and they provide an OS map and guided literature. The food was very good ,well cooked nicely presented but a litte over priced for some main meals A tennis court is advertised, but the surface is crumbling tarmac with out markings and there did not appear to be a net. It could not have been used anyway during our stay because of the heavy rains.
Very clean and comfortable excellant service from staff Room a little noisy over reception Food a little expensive
It is very peacefull and friendly hotel Nothing
Location. Very comfortable bed.
The very friendly service and attentive staff. The well presented and well cooked food, the comfortable accommodation and pleasant surroundings
