Enjoyed a multi-day stay in this charming, friendly and well-situated inn. My 83 yr old mother and I received excellent service from a server who remembered our breakfast order each morning and gave us tips on area attractions. Front desk staff was unfailingly friendly. The lovely front porch, breakfast area, bar, rear veranda, party room and pool areas are attractive and welcoming. There is a pleasant park within walking distance. The inn hosted a wedding during our stay, and is well suited to events. Our room wasn't stellar, but was clean and overall acceptable (and had good coffee for the in-room coffeemaker, which doesn't always happen). In this era of corporate chains, I was glad to patronize an alternative with history and character. Owners are making a number of upgrades, so I look forward to a future stay to see the progress. The inn is being remodeled so some people might find it a bit off-putting to have an older room or not have use of the lounge. Not a big deal for me. I get tired of the corporate chains. As to the reviewer who complained about the service staff, we observed staff being stretched a little thin during the busy Sunday brunch time, but a bit of patience and walking over to a server to ask for assistance worked wonders. The dining area doesn't have a check in station, so the servers have to multi-task, watching the door and serving customers.
Couldn't beat it for the price. Clean and comfortable. It felt like home.
It was affordable and close to the area I was visiting. The staff was great, and they allow you to cancel a reservation up to 6pm on day of check-in. I didn't cancel, but with changing plans it was comforting to know I could. It was a little noisy outside my room, the location of my room was near offices and I could hear staff and patrons at night. There could be better outlets, or a charging area on the night stand, having more than one item to charge and use was challenging.
Good location in the middle of Aurora. Dank musty room. Construction in progress. Had bottom level room. It felt and smelled like it had been flooded. They had one very small dehumidifier in the hall for the entire floor. They needed a couple in the hallway and one in each room to dry it out. Went to the restaurant for dinner nobody sat us. Walked to the bar to ask if it was self seating. She said seat yourself and somebody will find you. They didn't. Saw staff walking around the far end of the restaurant and know they saw us but nobody came over. After we walked out, I asked the man at the front desk if the restaurant had table service. He said usually to just go sit down and wait. I said that ship had sailed. When I first checked in they said there were no more rooms at the in but it was ok because they booked me a room in a hotel in a nearby town. I said that was unacceptable because my reunion had events scheduled at the hotel that weekend. After a while they came up with a room. That was why I couldn't get a room other than they ground floor. Beds were saggy and pillows were flat. Overall terrible experience.
