10.0 Excellent
Pros: Evergreen is an awesome place. There are daybeds everywhere, there are hammocks everywhere... It‘s hard to decide where to relax first. It‘s so nicely done, decorated with so much love. Try the turkish menemen for breakfast! Claudia and Mustafa, the owners, are super nice and helpful. Then the staff is so nice, too. They also make great cocktails. You stay in lovely bungalows and wake up to the sound of the waves. Can‘t get any better. We wanted to travel the island and ended up staying just there. It‘s hard to leave, that‘s the only sad feeling I felt when staying there. HUGE recommendation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A Home away from Home...we found the Perfect and quiet place, we were Looking for! We will defo be back❤️❤️
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, good food. Can definitely recommend this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and amazing landscape. The bungalows fit very well with the location and everything looks like a postcard. There is few people around. The location is paradise.
Cons: It could be more clean and more attention to details around the room and the bathroom. Although I really appreciate that they take care of dogs and cats which were absolutely harmless, I don’t think they should be allowed around people when eating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The bungalows are beautiful with an extremely rustic feeling to them! The beach area is perfect and cleaned every morning. The water is amazing! The staff at Evergreen are fantastic also. Claudia the owner helped us out when we arrived a day early by mistake and when she noticed we were burned from the sun brought us some fresh aloe vera!! And Paul's cocktails!! <3 There is not loads to do around, the guys can help you find bars and parties but the place is perfect to just relax and enjoy thinking about nothing! Thanks guys!
Cons: You can't not like anything about this place! It's paradise!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: + Quiet place without any beach boys + Bungalows with an ocean view (amazing) + Big rooms + Great breakfast + Really nice and helpful staff + Swahili BBQ was great + Very good restaurant (e.g. for snacks)
Cons: - Water pressure was comparatively much worse - Next (local) market (e.g. for buying water) is far away - so bring it in advance!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for some peace and quiet. And the place is so cozy and charming. Great owners but special mention to Paul the guy was outstanding throughout my stay!
Cons: Nothing major

9.2 Excellent
Pros: the beach is fantastic. We had a great time swimming and scuba diving in the sea. The place is quite and could enjoy the private beach with only one or two other people or only yourself!! the place is very cute and well designed. If you look around you could find hand made art and crafts in every corner. If you drive, you could get access anywhere close by in 10 mins with lots of restaurants to explore. Don't miss the Rock Restaurant!!
Cons: the breakfast is a bit simple but you could order extra if you want
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome place! The Garden is just beautiful, monkeys in the trees, 3 lovely dogs an really friendly and lovely stuff! I can highly recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm and welcoming place. Charming rustic setting and very clean, with many attractive and personal touches. The food was beautifully presented, using fresh and local produce. Tours and driver were easily organised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bellevue is decorated with thoughtful touches for a nature loving and eco-conscious traveler. Hosts and staff are amazing and make terrific recommendations for activities. Rooms are comfortable, with a lot of privacy. Property is beautiful and lush with many places to hang out. As a solo traveler I appreciated that immensely as I met interesting people during my stay. Food was delicious! Beach is lovely and not crowded. Also property is one hour from the airport and close to great snorkeling, the forest and other activities.
Cons: As noted in reviews the location of the property means the beach has a very low tide-so you will see a lot of seaweed, but it was interesting as local farmers and fishermen are harvesting seaweed and fish at this time. I enjoyed it but if you want to do nothing but sit on the beach all day-you May prefer elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Book the villa! It has amazing views and you will never feel like leaving. Full of character, is busted by friendly monkeys sometimes. The bed is super comfy and the food is super tasty. If you like good music Paul will surprise you, he is also full of stories. Thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property blends the experience of staying in a natural environment with easy access to the beach. The experience is more environmentally friendly than the large resorts and has a lot of local charm. The staff were both efficient and friendly and we were well looked after. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend time on the east coast of the island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone here is so kind! Perfect peaceful stay. We hope to return to Bellevue someday soon! For those who are sure-footed and adventurous, try the “Sea Safari” with Moussa. You’ll have to dodge sea urchins but you’ll learn about seaweed harvesting, coconut rope making, and fishing. We’d highly recommend Bellevue to anyone- keep your eye out for monkeys!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. We wanted to stay for one night and made it three (would have stayed longer if there weren't a flight home calling). We don't know how to say anything bad about our stay here - Paul is an amazing host taking care of everyone and you can have a great chat with him. The food is exceptional and worth every penny you pay. Rooms are clean, bed is comfy and every night they get rid of the mosquitoes before you go to bed. Eventhough you're dependent on the tides for swimming in the ocean you can switch to the pool at low tide and have an amazing view from there to the ocean. We could continue writing but if you have the chance try it for yourself!

9.7 Excellent
Pros: A bit off the beaten path is just the way to stay of in Zanzibar. Hotel was super friendly and the rooms very comfortable.
Cons: Shower curtains...there were none.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The cats are an extra lovely bonus! I would highly recommend the Sahari!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommend Sahari hotel! Beautiful beach, super friendly stuff, nice rooms, very clean and well maintained property.
7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel has beautiful surroundings, great pool, rooms are quite cozy and very good terrace next to our room with beautiful view. The food at the restaurant was delicious at dinner time. Very cute cats.
Cons: Very bad and unattended beach next to the hotel, swimming was only possible 20 minutes further towards Paje. Breakfast is quite poor, and if you come for breakfast a little later, you may find nothing to eat at all. The restaurant bill was billed incorrectly, so I had to figure it out, which is quite unpleasant.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, in a good sorrounding, the dinner was very good and they have many meals to choose from.
Cons: The toilet didn’t work well, there was a time that we didn’t have hot water, wi-fi was very bad, lost the connection in every 3rd minute.. Breskfast wasn’t good and we’ve been told at the reception that the it starts at 7:00am, but there was a day when it wasn’t fully prepared even on 7:30.. Bread was cold and cakes were dry. Salt was wet and was not much to choose from. The room is full of beetles that chew the tree and are very loud. Extras, like laundry service were gratuitously expensive, we wanted them to organize us some programes but they we also for high price. (We were before in a 5 star hotel and it was 40% cheaper there) Actually it could be a good place, just maybe the owner should put some more money back into it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - The hotel itself is really pretty, especially the pool & its surroundings - Good location if you are looking for peace & quiet (outside of town) - The hotel beach has a guard keeping the beach boys from bothering the guests (luckily there are not as many in this part of Bwejuu) - Very clean rooms - Friendly and helpful staff - Varied menu in the hotel restaurant, tasty meals - Afternoon tea served before dinner was a really nice touch
Cons: - Restaurant service - the food takes quite a long time to arrive. I definitely recommend ordering in advance if possible - Breakfast could be more varied (it’s correct but nothing special, fresh fruits are definitely a plus) - “Sea view” means the room is facing this way, there is not that much of a view of the sea itself (but you still see a lovely garden) - Wifi is extremely slow - I personally didn’t mind (great chance to disconnect from technology) but if you really have to use it then it gets a bit problematic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love this place! - great Beach: quiet and direct access - People (management & staff) is always smiling, approachable and eager to help - the hotel is nicely designed with a pool in the middle and dining room overlooking the beach. - Boutique hotel.with a truly 5- star service (turn down service with different towels deco in the bed daily, breakfast buffet with daily variation which is a nice touch) - Location is great (you can feel the paradisiac island vibe) and you can walk (30mins) along the beach to Paje for more dining options and kite surfing activities
Cons: Just a small detail: No hangers in the room
7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean place, helpful staff. Nice pool.
Cons: Bad food, there was no cold water in the shower, water has only little preassure. Unfortunately, we paid local tax and commision twice (at booking and in the hotel). And invisible ocean view, far away behind the trees (but beautiful trees).
7.1 Good
Pros: It was very peaceful and beautiful. The food is really good!
Cons: The big boss is very rude. There was a mistake with our reservation. And he was making it our problem... the man at the reception was very kind and was helping us to make our stay perfect. But the big boss was not nice, he was saying to me that I complained to much... unfortunately, because the hotel is really good, but because of him we'll never come back

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very tasty cuisine ! Friendly staff . Nice spacious villas with comfortable beds. Very nice beach and warm calm sea . We loved it there .
Cons: Butler is more a waiter than a butler . Huge tide - have to wait for water for more than 6 hours during the day. Expensive snorkling tour ( one person 80 USD , two persons 120 USD) Do not walk on the beach the right side from the hotel -there is jungle and it is not safe there - turists are often robbed there . Left side is very safe - hotels and shops .
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Bathroom had a nice shower. The local staff was very accommodating. Good on premise store.
Cons: We were lied to, tricked, cheated and ripped off. The entire experience was very disappointing. After booking online, the property confirmed our booking. Around the time we were boarding the plane (about 12 hours before arrival), I received an email from the property telling me that there was a leak in our villa and that they might not have a room for us. They said that they would refund our money, and that they would find other accommodations for us. We immediately called them but we got no answer. We sent emails and continued calling without answer. While on the plane, we managed to get internet access and spent the rest of the flight getting reservations elsewhere (hotels, rental car, NYE dinner). About an hour or two before landing, we received whatsapp messages from the staff that they had found a solution. We were told by the staff to cancel our alternative reservations. We trusted them and cancelled. We regretted that for the rest of the trip. They had us cancel our car booking and then they couldnt get us a car for the next couple of days. Their solution was to move us rooms twice. They did not refund any of the nights stayed and charged over 1,500 USD per night. It wasnt even worth 300... We later found out that their excuse of a leak in the room was a lie and that the server had a glitch and had overbooked the hotel. In any case, even without the whole booking screw up, the hotel is overpriced, not very clean, and definitely not worth its cost. The other hotel that we booked and then were told to cancel was about 40% cheaper and much superior. We actually went to visit it for comparison. It was in a whole other league... To be fair, we were offered a full refund if we chose not to stay but it was near impossible to go through finding (again...) a new place 5 hrs before midnight on Dec 31st and without a car. It was also very difficult to arrange alternative plans on Jan 1st. We stayed and regretted it...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Every aspect of the hotel exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding, rooms well equipped and spacious, staff excellent without being intrusive and the beautiful gardens on the premises add to the experience.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Xanadu was a quiet paradise on Zanzibar Island. Excellent surroundings, attentive staff, gourmet food offerings, in a beautiful facility!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have just enjoyed the most perfect of weeks here at Xanadu! The property itself is just stunning and the photos can’t do it justice! Located with its own private beach it’s a beautiful haven. The food is exceptional from freshly caught seafood to dishes flavoured with the spices of the island..we were in food heaven!! But what we loved the most is the staff here! We were so well looked after with every need met before we even thought about it! Highly professional with a lot of warmth and laughter! The most perfect of weeks

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - Burhani made everything special for us - nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Neema, Pieter and Gloria, who were super-friendly and helpful throughout.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Xanadu was incredible. The attention to details (fresh flowers in the bedroom and on the dining table every day, fresh cocktails/cocunuts to welcome guests back to the hotel) and the Butler service are excellent. The food was top quality too. We can only recommend Xanadu to everyone! Paradise on earth!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked the privacy of the Villas. Its good for those who need a private chilling holiday or those who need a quiet time far from the madding crowds.

Anna of Zanzibar - Bwejuu - Pool
6
8.9 Excellent (38 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This Dongwe property is on the beach, 2.9 mi (4.6 km) from Pingwe Beach, and within 9 mi (15 km) of Jambiani Beach and Paje Beach. Kuza Cave is 8.7 mi (14.1 km) away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. Good food. Nice rooms.
Cons: They could use a few more processes to make things flow smoother, but it was not terrible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unprecedented service, great location, beautiful beach, quality food and superb hospitality. The hotel arranged our visit to Stone Town and they have provided us with snacks, umbrellas, ice box full of drinks and water which shows their extraordinary hospitality Literally the staff strive to make all dreams come true
Cons: Nothing really, would only recommend putting window nets or some other solutions to prevent geckos from going into the room, geckos are very common on the island so not an issue with the hotel and they rarely go inside the rooms. However that is only a recommendation as we had encountered only 1 instance during our stay and the staff sorted it out swiftly and fast but we had to keep doors and windows locked all the time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anna of Zanzibar is a quality accommodation; the villa's are very roomy and spacious. The staff cannot do enough for you and are very friendly and helpful. On an 'all inclusive' there is an abundance of exceptionally tasty food that can be taken when and where you like on the property - great breakfast on the villa deck, lunch served by the beach or the pool, dinner in the main house. An absolute treat and great way to get a few days relaxation
Cons: The Aircon was great in the bedroom; but less so in the Lounge and another couple said the same of their villa lounge. There is wifi throughout the property but the actual link to the internet was patchy and slow. We stayed at another property not far up the same road and the wifi there was 5 x better
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owner and staff are amazing, the location- amazing! Everything is amazing- more than you can ask for on a tiny, beautiful island. The small details tell a tale all of their own... enjoy. The food- omg- amazing!!! Honestly, as a family of five we can not rate this stay enough!!! We felt like were, and were treated like kings and queens. All the staff go above and beyond. In fact there’s more staff than there are guests- that’s the attention to detail this place has got!
Cons: It’s not even a compliant- soo much good food... all bloody day..... every day.... And so often!! My son asked for some crisps.. “Potato chips” they replied... He waited for 15 minutes and had home made crisps- delivered to him by the pool!! !! This place is bloody awesome!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We spent a magical three days at Anna of Zanzibar. The location is beautiful, the staff very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious and plentiful. It was perfect!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about the hotel! It was peaceful, relaxing, mind clearing stay! Definitely recommend this hotel for couples. For escaping from reality!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious Bungalows located in a lavish garden. Super nice staff, delicious food, very calm. Lovingly decorated. Overall a fantastic place to stay and relax
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were excellent. Hotel only has 5 rooms, all were full when we were there. Pool beds and towels were a little dated.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The service is great! Friendly, personal, yet not overly eager. Laid-back. The garden, pool and beach are lovely. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. Very relaxing!
Cons: Perhaps the food was a little inconsistent at times but overall it didn't really matter much.
Mellow Moods Guesthouse - Bwejuu - Building
7
9.3 Excellent (13 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Welcome to Mellow Moods Guesthouse Zanzibar. Our newly renovated guesthouse is situated on the south east coast of Zanzibar, north of the village of Bwejuu. We offer 9 rooms, from basic with shared bathroom to family room with private bathroom. The name Mellow Moods comes from an equally named, relaxed reggae song of Bob Marley and the Waylers. Mellow Moods stands for a relaxed mellow atmosphere, on the long stretched beach, to completely unwind in a garden full of palmtrees and other tropical plants and fruits. We have a beach bar with a great list of cocktails, cold beers and softdrinks, and a restaurant with stunning ocean view. We do not have a swimming pool, but our guests are welcome at our neighbour resort which have a big pool at the beach, 5 min walk from Mellow Moods. So pick a hammock or a sunbed and enjoy the laid back holiday feeling, spoil yourself with a fresh tropical cocktail while listening to the background music full of African and reggae sounds, Karibuni Sana!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is amazingly placed right on the beach and if you're lucky for a mid day high tide, it's gonna look like paradise. It's a great exemple of value for money. The rooms are simple, but you can make perfect use of them, and the lovely cleaning ladies will make the room with fresh flowers and uplifting messages. The food surprised us by how good it was, from the local dishes, to the seafood or the pasta. YES, Chef Samuel can cook a mean PASTA! Man, that gentleman's got talent! You'll be waiting a little for the food but it's freshly made for each and every customer and worth the wait. Petra is a great manager. She and her staff will give you all their best and beyond. If you need them discreet they will be laying low and if you're the friendly and exuberant they will make you feel at home. We felt like part of a family. Petra will also give you tips and tricks, put together day trips . She helped us put together visit to a local school and Babu Issa's farm to get in touch with the local community and I think was the best cultural trip we took there. She will also join in whenever she had the time and was a pleasure to have her around. The WiFi is a little slow, but considering that it's an island issue, try a Wi-Fi detox. Thank you for a great holiday, it has been bliss.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was simple and perfect, everything you need. Very clean and the upstairs and outside seating area is gorgeous too! Right on the beach! I especially loved the little Eco friendly touches, like supplying water so you could refill your bottle and paper straws in the bar etc. So great to see places do their bit and make the change as every little bit helps. Would definitely go back. Good value for money. Jacqueline was fantastic too! :)
Cons: Nothing. Wouldn't change anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fantastic - the room was beautiful, the beach right in front of the room, the staff was uncomplicated and very nice, everything was clean - we could have stayed longer
Cons: Breakfast was nothing special and dinner was overpriced
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and the atmosphere nice. It's right at the beach!
Cons: The Wi-Fi wasn't working and the mattress not very comfortabele.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Mellow Moods was a wonderful place to relax and bring in the new year. The property is right on the beach and the mellow atmosphere is truly felt through out. Petra is very welcoming and the staff always had a smile on their faces ready to help. The food is amazing and lots to chose from for a reasonable price. From local sea food to the best club sandwiches and smoothies. The bar has a wide selection of drinks and a whole page dedicated to gin and tonic specialties. The ambiance and the people are not to be missed! If given the opportunity, I would definitely go back and stay again.
Cons: Being pretty tall, the twin beds were a bit short and small. At times there was no water available for showers and brushing teeth due to the low tide and not being able to pump water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is what you call value for money! Awesome staff, clean room, cold beer, THE best food in the east coast and right on the beach. What else does one need? If you're an expat living in Zanzibar, this is the place you want to go to!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Petra is a great host. She will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The food is outstanding and the staff is nice and friendly. The rooms are clean, nice and cozy. I can reccomend everybody to stay in this place. Mellow moods is direct on the beach and the perfect place to enjoy a well deserved holiday. Im definitely going back again!

Cons: Ur Bungalow was very small and dark inside, but inside was clean. Staff is very friend and breakfast delicious. I have a good Time there
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our time at this lovely african style bungalow parc. The staff was the kindest. The garden has all different types of trees, which create the perfect atmosphere to relax in the much needed shade. If like to stay outside of the big resorts, this place is the best.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing garden with daybeds and a lot of green. This was the most comfortable hotel i stayed at during my trip. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The food is ok.
Cons: Everything was ok. The food is slightly more expensive than in other paces.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Had a good stay at FGV. Good service and courteous staff. Tropical grounds and plants make it a relaxing atmosphere from the onset. Loved my breakfast (maybe because had no access to food to eat outside of FGV breakfast until end of ramadan fast at 6:30pm! everyday) I was only one staying there the entire time (low season), but did not mind. *) The mosquito's were a real problem (because of the "makuti", the woven palm trees used to clad bungalows), this is a problem throughout Zanzibar, not just at FGV. They are agressive and HUNGRY both evening and morning!. I was fully prepared with mosquito coil, tablets etc but had to get Doom and even with blasts of Doom, they don't die straight away. The hotel were also very helpful with this, but there is not much they can do, as mosquito's just return via the gaps in makuti. *) Greeted with a lovely green coconut drink, straight from the tree! when I arrived which was really special. *) Distance of FGV is a big problem if single / travelling alone, especially at night and have to rely on taxi's at extra high costs. The main road is far and not well served, then there are scary bushes and NO LIGHTS at all. It gets dark at 6:30pm so you need to be indoors at this time. The lady at reception was kind enough to show me the road to use the first time I arrived which was helpful. It's a great place to chill though if you can get around the travel by using private transport or are in a group. *) Lady serving breakfast went out of her way to get me advocado which was nice although not necessary for breakfast. *No hot water and WiFi was a problem so used my own hotspot. Same problem in many places, not just here! *) Room was serviced and linen changed daily by hardworking lady with a big smile :) New management and the lovely yellow paint has been replaced by blue
Cons: Extra tips - : *) Do not go to Zanzibar during Ramadan!...cannot eat anywhere and it's not polite to do so anyway as everyone is fasting, some people say they can take you in jail. You can buy and make your food at home, not an option if a tourist. *) Masai men will always try to ? with you and ask for money! - be warned if single women & there's lots more where that came from - NOT RELATED THE RESORT :) *) Have stayed in several places in Zanzibar before and have not given them a rating, so this is the first place I will rate as had a good experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean with lovely staff. Quiet and chilled out location, cute room, great value for money.
Cons: Could improve on the breakfast, the coffee, and the pillows. But really it’s still a great choice at this price point!!!! Couldn’t fault the cleanliness and the loveliness of everyone there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: You should be ready that it is a bit far from everything - the village Paje where you can buy nice fruits and chip food is in 3 km - one hour walking by the beach. But it’s quite and there is nobody on the beach, it’s beautiful. I loved small houses - it’s clean, very simple but you have nice clean bed and electricity, wi fi is working in the lobby. It was not a problem for me to have WC and shower outside and finally I was upgraded to a big house that included everything. It’s a bit dark in rooms, but there was no problems with Moskitos and I was fine with having only fan, it was not very hot. You can get to any part of the island from there - by dala dala or rent a car. Dala dala to the village cost 200-300 shillings, a motorbike trip - 3000 shillings. In case if you get bored:) Nice breakfasts (not every day and coffee is only instant that is horrible, but it’s everywhere here like this in Zanzibar).
Cons: It’s a bit far from tourist places but for me it was an advantage:) But you have to be ready to pay 10000-20000 shillings for taxi to get there if you decided to go to a party - to Red Monkey for example. It’s better to buy your own jam because you can’t get it to your breakfast. For transfer to and from airport here asking for 40 dollars, it’s possible to find for 20-25. There could be some problems with wi fi
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners and personnel were very very hospitable and warm. We got an upgrade in our room. The garden is like the garden of eden, there are two playing kittens, two cahouns walking around. And the place looks beautiful.
Cons: There were mosquitos since the place is not windy like the places at the beach side. Eventually, they found a way to get rid of them, so this was in the end not a big problem.
7.1 Good
Pros: -Very pleasant, friendly staff -Chilled, relaxed atmosphere in the lounge/garden with an amazing hammock -Close to the beach
Cons: -Basic rooms and bathrooms, no windows so some noise from outside at night -Repetitive breakfast, no creativity -Slow cooking (waiting time of one hour for lunch or dinner) -Tours offered by the property are more expensive than what we could find elsewhere
7.5 Good
Pros: Silence in the camp.
Cons: Room nice but too dark inside.

Pros: The room was very nice, and we was in front of the beach.
Cons: The kitchen services was very bad. Expensive, poor quality and takes a lot of time to serve it.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff was very helpfull and friendly. We had airconditioning in the room
Cons: The food was absolutely terrible. How you can think to charge $1 for black instant coffee is beyond me.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else about the place, the view, warm staff
Cons: The internet speed was so slow and limited and the evening chef kept adding a lot of salt in the food.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place, clean and spacious rooms, very friendly staff, delicious cusine with comparable prices and on top of it very well maintained privat beach. Masay guys take care about your security in propriety and privat beach. I'll use it again and can highlyrecommend.
Cons: Beach is full of seaweed when low tide. Also you must wait for high tide if you want to swim. Apart of that everything was really good. Best accomodition we had in Zanzibar. Also compare the quality, price was more than excellent. We moved to Kendwa after that and quality of accommodations and prices were disapointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is very nice for staying especially with partner with good service and reception was very goid
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - beautiful and spacious room - view to the garden and sea view as well - very good price comparing accommodations around - it's very calm and quite - great sun beds on the garden
Cons: - dvd player was good but a lot of dvds didnt work properly and no satelit - breakfast is way too expensive (pancakes from the street with banana cost you less than 1000TZS) - sea for swimming is present only from 6-9am and then from 3pm, low tide during the day - one of the workers is not competent to run the hotel (we had difficulty to pay for the room, problems with calculating the price),when we paid 4 more nights, then we were almost asked to leave one 1 night earlier due to wrongly calculated 4 days/nights - wifi not working during the night, they turn it off - village doesn't have any local food, its empty, food only during the morning as bakery store opened - the bed matress is pretty old, a whole in the middle
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place next to a beautiful beach
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Big and nice room with the see view. Food is not included in room price, but they have good restaurant there.

6.0 Good
Pros: I enjoyed the breakfast it was average. The location is a bonus because it's near the beach.
Cons: Our place of stay was never cleaned during our 3 night stay!!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice common areas, awesome food, clean spacious rooms. Its located between bwajuu and paje. Walking time was about 20 minutes but it didn’t bother us at all, since you have the beach for yourself.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was according to what is described online. Kassim and Maria are really nice and they try there best to make you feel at home. The perfect place for the ones who want peace and quiet.
Cons: The internet was not constant or strong and the ladies that prepared the food could be quite rude, just don't let them ruin your day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Zanzibar Dream Lodge is a nice hidden place very close to the beach. Maria, Kassim an the staff are more then friendly and helpful hosts. We felt like in the middle of friends, sleeping in their home and having this very tasty homemade food - or even the best recommendation for a great italian pizza on the beach. (Thaks again!) The rooftop terrace is a great place for breakfast or just hanging around. We had a perfect time!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and helpfull host, he also organized some excursions trip for me wich was good, good location for quiet stay in Bwejuu, A/C in my room worked very well and not too noisy to sleep with, location close to the private beach, beach location is very quiet but also very close to all activities in Paje if you search for entertainment. Food/restaurant at the Lodge available and tasty. I enjoyed the octopus, calamari and fish a lot.
6.3 Good
Pros: Sunbeds are available at the beach. The rooms are quite clean and comfortable.
Cons: The staff wasn't very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are very expensive.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff was incredibly nice and very helpful. We appreciated alot all their help & hospitality. The location was good and they were happy to accomodate our request to refund us our money for one night as we had to leave earlier. The beach was beautiful and had way less beach boys compared to other areas of the island.
Cons: - Only cold water was available for showers - They had left flowers in the room for decorations, we ended up having ants everywhere( including bed and bathroom) - There is no shade on the beach due to the lak umbrellas. The sunbeds had no mattresses only a thin sports/Yoga mat. - On arrival we were the only guests and were sent to a hostel for dinner. Hostel food turned out really nice though. - WIFI did exist but i could never pick it up apart from the reception where it was abnormaly slow (In comparison to other hotels on the Island). All in all, the rate we paid per night for rooms was way overpriced ($72/night) and the hotel requires urgent renovations. Considering it was our honeymoon, we were disappointed with the standards offered.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The location was good and quieted. The unit we booked was in front of the Ocean, offers good view and breeze, however the breeze didn't go through the bungalow due to think screen window and mosquitoes's net.
Cons: Upepo Boutique Beach Bungalows 8 nights in Bwejuu 7 Feb - 15 Feb Lack of services: food and drink need to order in advance. second accommodate is much smaller than it appears on the booking. third, lack of hot water, cleaning need to order, lack of soap and shampoo. fourth, Internet is very bad, unable to do anything, the property uses a system pay as you go, which mean a service can be cut at anytime. fifth, property doesn't care or heard about any complaint from customer, it kept talking about an agreement with booking as when one book the place there isn't anything it could do....... all fault as the property doesn't deliver its services. sixth, when complaint with the workers, confront with laughter and nothing happened. Workers all seem nice and willing to help but they couldn't do anything to facilitate our need. The mean of communicate were not exist. Issue on security, no secured. The door was broken, it was so poor such anyone could just walk into the place.........seller or massage providers sometime walk up to the front door offering their services. Overall, $80 per night was way way over value, it should be $25 or less. Compare to places nearby, we had checked at $30 with great internet, restaurant, quality of room, and services. We had been robbed.... Thanks
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Bungalows are NOT clean at all, especially the bathroom which was just unusable. Everything is old and poorly maintained, there isn't any furniture you can use, no hot water, the wifi wasn’t working (which was not very important for us but this should be mentioned), staff wasn’t helpful at all, breakfast isn’t good etc. We went to 4 other hotels in Zanzibar (and some of them was way more cheaper) on very good locations, and there was all 10 times better than Upepo Boutique... Once we discovered the bungalows, we understand why this was the only hotel we saw in Zanzibar that forced us to pay the whole amount at your arrival… Considering this, we advise the owners to change their prices to $20/$30 per night maximum (and clean the rooms), or they should renovate everything and upgrade their service to be competitive with the other hotels in the island.
