Pros: Staff was attentive
Clean and Comfortable
Awesome location - near the action, but not in the action
Easy to get in and out of from Highway
Restaurant Looked Great - although we didn't have a chance to eat there.
Cons: TV volume was terrible - even turned up half way was still quite

Pros: This was our first trip with an infant so we weren't sure what to expect but the room was perfect for our needs and staff were uber-friendly. We could not believe what a great experience we had for the price. Parking is an additional charge but the valets are super responsive and you can get your car as many times as you need- it was worth it.
Pros: The hotel was very clean and the staff we had interaction with were nice and accommodating.
Cons: Only complaint is with other guests, but that's not the hotel's fault.
Pros: Excellent customer service. Comfortable and well appointed rooms.
Pros: Very clean, new and modern.
Pros: it was clean. the room
Cons: THEY DID NOT INFORM US THAT THE ELEATOR WAS BEING WORKED ON AT 9am .Not even housekeeping know.
Pros: The general atmosphere of the hotel
Cons: Having to ask 3 times for towels for the swimming pool, therefore having to go in the hotel lobby in a bathing suit.
No toilet paper in the hotel bathroom on the first floor.

Pros: Other than the fire alarm issue the stay was very comfortable.
Cons: We were there for a medical reason. Went to bed early but a homeless person was able to get to the fire alarm and pull it.
We had to evacuate & couldn't get back to sleep. That issue needs to be addressed so it doesn't happen again.
Pros: Room, staff, breskfast. Proximity to Standard Bakery
Cons: Valet parking is good but expensive
Pros: Friendly staff. Downtown.
Pros: Absolutely wonderful staff from the valet parking to the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Professional yet friendly.
Pros: Outstanding service from their front desk staff.

Cons: Our room was on the first floor and it sounded as though every toilet in the building was directly above us.
Pros: All of the staff - from valets to room service, desk clerks to lounge staff, housekeeping to spa staff - were friendly, knowledgeable, professional
Pros: I loved the location and the hotel/room was very clean.
Cons: There was a continuous noise above the bed. It sounded like a pipe clanging. Thank goodness for the sound machine feature on the alarm clock. Also, the bed was very firm with starchy sheets. The terry cloth robe had a large rip in it as well.
Pros: I liked the historical nature of the building, and the architectural details. I found the hotel to be big on comfort, cleanliness, and friendly and helpful staff. Loved the complimentary coffee delivered to your room in the morning, much nicer than having to make substandard coffee in the room. The Mill St. restaurant on the premises has wonderful food and a lovely ambience.
I didn't take advantage of any of the spa offerings, so I can't comment on those.
Cons: It would be helpful for rooms to have a small fridge. The lighting in my room was not great for reading, but the huge windows let in a lot of natural light. The internet was painfully slow. I didn't understand the need for the valet parking, since the lot was just across the street, and I would have happily parked on my own and walked over. But it was inexpensive, $12, so this is not really a complaint, just an observation.
Cons: would have enjoyed a fridge and coffee maker in room
Pros: I am a female and was travelling alone to see my son. I got my room and from then on, felt comfortable, secure, close to conveniences and within walking distance to great shops, restaurants and more.
I was also given the gift of a spa treatment while there, and that experience was heavenly!
The dining room was decorated for Christmas and was absolutely lovely! I was also quite comfortable eating alone here, with a seat by a warming fire.
I will be returning to Portland shortly, and would like my same room and experience. Loved it.
Pros: Everyone at the hotel was so nice and went above and beyond to be helpful. The location is perfect right in the center of the city. There are so many great restaurants just around the corner. I also really enjoyed the spa at the hotel. The facilities are very relaxing and everyone that works there can help you figure out exactly what you need. We had a great stay and will definitely be coming back.
Pros: Great location. Walking distance to the old port and lots of restaurants and bars. A great stay.
Pros: The room service staff and valet were super friendly and extremely helpful. Other than that, it was a horrible experience...not a bit relaxing!
Cons: I work in the hospitality industry, so I know what great service is. When I got there, the TV wasn't even plugged in...then I went out with some friends, came back to a dark room, and when I tried to turn on the lamps on the side tables, I found that neither of them were plugged in. It was as if the room hadn't been used in months! When I called the front desk to complain, the woman at the front desk blew it off like it was no big deal! I ordered room service at 8:30 in the morning (which was great) and then put the do not disturb sign on the door. Well evidently it was irrelevant...I had fallen back asleep after I ate my breakfast, then at 10:30 I got a call from housekeeping seeing if I was still there...she didn't even apologize for waking me up, but at 11 I got a knock on my door from housekeeping! Check out was at 12, and I felt very rushed! For the money I spent, it was a horrible experience! I will never go back, and I will spread the word about my awful experience.
Pros: Perfect location in downtown Portland - a very short walk to the wharf and local restaurants/pubs
Cons: A bit pricy, but it's in line with other hotels in the area.
The city's vibrant Old Port, with dozens of shops, restaurants, and cafés along cobblestone streets, is the setting for this hotel, housed in a historic 1895 armory just two blocks from the waterfront.
Cons: Not best price I could have used my AAA and got better rate . No mini bar difficult using internet
Pros: Value, clean room, friendly service, you can walk to downtown amenities, affordable parking, breakfast was good for hotel food.
Cons: Strong propane smell in 2nd floor hallway during our entire stay. The mattress was on the soft side.
Pros: Generally speaking, everything was great. The room was modern and comfortable. Staff was friendly.
Cons: When we were attempting to check in, the front desk was having an issue with a rather unpleasant and annoying group of young women who were giving them quite a hard time. I felt badly that they had to deal with this issue. However, at one point they had all three of the front desk people dealing with this issue and nobody assisting the queue of people who were waiting for assistance. It would have been nice if one of those people were prioritizing the guests who were waiting in line. We were tired from a long drive and did not appreciate having to wait 20 minutes just to get our room assignment and key. Also, the price was incredibly high, and it seemed crazy to me that the parking was not included in the room cost.
Cons: They over booked and was not able to give me the room even though I booked and had a confirmation number.... I am extremely flustered and disappointed with the services.
Pros: The hotel is perfectly located, right in the old port near everything you could want. It was great to be able to valet the car (for one of the cheaper valet rates in the city) and just walk everywhere. The complementary breakfast each morning was good, nothing exceptional but enough to get us going. The staff were great and helpful with recommendations and making us comfortable. The room was comfortable and the bed was great-however I would suggest bringing your own pillow if you like a firmer pillow the pillows here are very, very soft-not a complaint but not my preference.
Cons: Overall we enjoyed our stay. However, on our first night we left the room for dinner and when we arrived back at the room it smelt like pot. Not a faint smell but very strong and over powering and, frankly, incredibly off putting smell. I went to the front desk and the night desk man seemed aware of the issue and the solution was for someone to come up to my room with a bottle of febreeze. For a non-smoking floor/hotel I was underwhelmed by this fix. We only had this issue once but it was enough. Overall though i would stay here again simply due to the location and the ease of getting around.
Cons: Over use of fabrreze in room, price, view, not a $200+ non refundable value. Forced to valet park in their lot.
Pros: Clean, inviting place overall. Comfortable beds and pillows. Good size room and bathroom. Nice breakfast in the morning. Really nice and helpful staff. Felt very welcome. I liked the free apples too.
Cons: I liked everything.

Pros: Big spacious clean room in an excellent location. Close to all the dining, drinking, shopping in Old Port.
Cons: There was some construction going on on the floor, rooms being redone, the halls were dusty and smelled from this work, also the wireless connection was very iffy.
Pros: I wanted to catch the ferry to the islands, so it was a great location!
Parking was very convenient. and downtown area and shopping was a few steps away.
I came up a week earlier that my original reservation, and the staff was able to accomodate me. They were very friendly and professional.
Cons: What was not to like!
Pros: Location is close to harbor yet far enough away to avoid all the noise from Commercial Street. Lots of good restaurants/bars within walking distance such as Fore Street, Duckfat, Street and Company, Vena's, Gritty's and more. Free breakfast.
Cons: Parking isn't free - $15 per night.
Pros: Great value, wonderful room (spacious, modern) we will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Portland!
Pros: I loved the staff, they where friendly and very helpful in giving me directions around town and what cool things to check out. I was not expecting the hotel to have a shuttle service that took me wherever I wanted to go downtown, and the driver was super friendly. My room was incredible, well lit, well decorated with a bag of popcorn waiting for me. I all around enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was good.
Cons: I paid extra for the "seaside" suite - this does not mean it is a view of the ocean. It means it's on the seaside but that your view will be of a fish manufacturing plant. I was a little disappointed that I spent an extra $30 to stare are a fishery.
Pros: Very comfortable bed and large rooms.
Cons: Near a brewery that gave off odors that were not that pleasant.
Pros: Great amenities, great location, excellent staff.

Pros: I liked that the hotel was pet friendly and had a reception in the evening. The location was convenient to bother the jet port and downtown Portland.
Cons: The hotel did not have a requested item set up in the room upon arrival. The shower had hair on the walls and there were people smoking underneath our window all night, which came directly into the room through a vent. It was very slippery out and all of the walkways and sidewalks remained untreated, making it very unsafe for both guests and pets. Management was not particularly responsive to any of these concerns.

Pros: Something different
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable

Cons: Overzealous cleaning staff that threw away personal items...
Pros: A great hotel in a great downtown location.
Cons: Paid a little bit extra for a higher floor room. Got a room overlooking their generators and parking garage.
Pros: Great location, very easy to walk to shops, restaurants. Higly recommended! Room was clean and comfortable.
Pros: It was a nice place. Bathroom could have been a little more clean but the staff was excellent and location was great
Pros: Water front view rooms offer beautiful views of Portland's working waterfront.
Cons: Night time noise can be disruptive to light sleepers
Pros: The room
Pros: My husband and I stayed there for our first night away after having a newborn. Overall the hotel was clean and modern and comfortable. The location is very convenient for multiple choices for dinner and cocktails.
Cons: Unfortunately we had a room facing Fore street right across the street from the bars. We visited on a weeknight and the noise was still pretty loud coming from the streets at 1 am. I was initially pretty frustrated after being woken up at 1 AM... But then I discovered that there is a fan in the room that can be turned on and it drowns out the noise from the streets. my only recommendation would be adding some sort of white noise option for the guests to drown out the noise from the bars
Cons: Didn't like the size of the pool, thought it was very small. even my 13 yr old didn't think it was appealing enough to use.
Pros: Nice location which, as the heart of the bar scene you should expect some night noise and even though the staff pointed this out at check in it wasn't the outside noise that was bad.
Cons: We could hear everything that was happening inside the hotel. Toilets, conversations, doors etc. It would appear the hotel was built without any sound insulation. Very disappointed.
Pros: The area, the location, and the cleanliness were fantastic.
Cons: The water pressure was interesting. Don't know if it's common between the hotels, but it was way too soft.
Pros: Nice clean hotel
Cons: Breakfast was not great.
Hyatt Place Old Port is situated in the heart of Old Port near many popular attractions, restaurants and local businesses. We are 7 floors with 130 guest rooms including 11 suites with beautiful views of the Old Port area, Casco Bay and the Portland skyline. The hotel is within walking distance to local shopping, spas and minutes from the Portland airport.
Pros: Great location. Downtown Portland is very nice
Cons: Bed/Pillows weren't the best, but did the job
Pros: Room was very clean and was ready early.
Cons: The restaurant wasn't very good and their wait staff was horrible.
Cons: It was a big disappointment. The hotel was very dated, and the front desk staff was cold/unfriendly. This hotel should have cost below $100. Instead, we paid approx $375.
Pros: Location is ok, on the edge of easy walking distance to the Old Port area.
Cons: For the price would have expected bigger, nicer rooms. It was just "ok", not a great value for the price paid.
Pros: Best all around hotel stay in the area
Pros: Good location. Spacious room. Great view. The window in our room needed replacing, could have been an even better view. Good TV, comfortable bed with choices of pillows. We didn't eat at restaurant in hotel since it did not get good reviews.
Pros: There were no frills but my overnight stay was comfortable and refreshing. location right between Old Port and the Arts District was great.
Cons: No snack machines, just soda machines
Pros: It was clean, quiet and had a great view of the bay. The staff was professional ,friendly and helpful. Loved the snacks at the front desk.
Cons: Was not happy at how much the room price was for the weekend we were there. Looked like a great deal until I put in my date of arrival. We went after Columbus day to avoid the crowds and high prices. No crowds but hotel price was high.
Cons: Poor value. Super expensive for what you get.
I was stuck in a smoking room because Kayak's system (or the booking one - whatever) doesn't make it obvious that the room is smoking. There shod be a huge notice that the room being booked is a smoking room.
Weird smells throughout... Room "mostly" clean.
Internet didn't work and when I reported it I was given a support number to call. Sitting on the phone for an hour (which didn't solve the problem) was a big waste of my time.
I stayed at the Westin after this place and it was night and day. They obviously train there staff at the Westin because from checkin to cleaning people they were helpful, courteous, and friendly. Everything about the Holiday Inn lacked, the Westin excelled at . Stay there instead.

Pros: Very nice hotel, great customer service, comfortable beds and pillows.
Cons: Wasn't sure how to utilize the free shuttle service.
Pros: Friendly staff, quiet rooms, clean, central
Cons: valey took time
Pros: service was good
Cons: I hate to rate the overall experience based on this, but it sticks in my mind. When taking a shower i noticed there was an unpleasant oder coming from somewhere, I quickly realized it was coming from the shower curtain .. I quickly finished and got out of there .. i felt like the smell stuck with me for a few hours after ... yuk!
Cons: Good value
Pros: Lovely room and common areas. Interesting city.
Cons: Paying for parking wasn't so great.
Pros: room is nice
Cons: The hotel had a bulldozer moving snow from midnight to at least 2am. Absolutely no regard for hotel guests/
Pros: Very comfort and great view if you booked a higher floor room.
Cons: I preferred the waterfront location, but Westin also stays in a very good location as many fine restaurants are in this area.
Pros: Good downtown location and the beds were super comfy. We had a nice room. This is probably one of the better values in Portland as there are not a lot of hotels in the city.
Cons: of all the hotels I've stayed in this was one of them. No free wifi which is ridiculous considering the cost of a room.
Pros: Excellent Coustmer service and high quality room!
Cons: Breakfast option in morning was minimal and expensive.
Pros: Very nice staff
convenient to many locations
Cons: have to pay a lot for parking
have to pay for wifi
Pros: They charge for internet, but if you go to Congress St Park, which is adjacent, they have free wi-fi.

Pros: My 9 year old son and I went for two nights and had a great time. We loved the room it was clean and comfortable. We spent many hours in the pool which was also clean and just a neat room. We ordered room service for dinner both nights and the food was delicious. We had breakfast in the restaurant in the morning and it was also perfect. Overall we would definitely return to this hotel or others in the chain!
Pros: Location, cleanliness, pool,
Cons: Bartender was REALLY slow, and when I asked the front desk for a re-print of my receipt from dinner the night before, she told me she couldn't do it, and didn't offer to figure it out. She did tell me to have a nice day...
Pros: Most everything. Fun to have Starbucks right there and the Mall across the street.
Cons: Toilet clogged before retiring and we were too tired to call the front desk. It made the morning unpleasant to have a clogged toilet. I'm sure they would have fixed it right away but we were only there for the night and checked out early. That's our only complaint.
Cons: Overall the room was great. It was very clean and the staff was nice. The walls however are very thin and we could hear our neighbors that kept us up through the night.

Pros: The hotel staff were so accommodating to our very large group -- I can hardly praise them enough!
Cons: The had a little trouble keeping up with the hot breakfast orders, but we generally weren't in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal.
Cons: Bed was hard. Pillows too soft
Pros: The bathroom door in 346 does not close easily.
Pros: Overall experience was enjoyable. We only stayed one night due to other travel plans, but would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again.

Pros: The room was wonderful and the beds were very comfortable. Every convenience was available to make us comfortable from an upstairs sitting room with home-cooked snacks to a fantastic breakfast. It was very close to all the places we wished to visit and the host was very helpful and friendly. Obviously, he cares deeply about his business and his guests because everything was done to ensure our stay was pleasant. The contrast between this establishment and other bed and breakfasts where I have have stayed was enormous in the best way possible.
Cons: We liked everything.
Located 3.3 mi (5.3 km) from the airport, Morrill Mansion Bed & Breakfast offers a great location, putting you within a 15-minute walk of Portland Museum of Art and Children's Museum of Maine. Free perks include WiFi and buffet breakfast daily between 8 AM and 10 AM. All rooms feature DVD players and refrigerators.
Pros: The rate was affordable, which was nice since we just needed a place to stay after getting into the Portland airport. Our flight arrived at 12AM, so it was convenient to not have to drive far afterwards. Also, the free continental breakfast in the morning was a definite plus!
Cons: The rooms were not clean. There was rust all over the bathroom, and the shower was stained with mildew. Also, the hotel is in a weird part of town, and we didn't feel safe walking to and from the car to get our luggage at night.
Pros: Staff was so very helpful -- allowing us to return our rental car to the airport the night before our flight and then they picked us up there, and they ordered a cab for us early in the morning to get to the airport; they directed us to pick up some breakfast items that were getting ready to be put out even though it was an hour before the official breakfast start time
The place was so clean and the rooms lovely, quite the contrast to a motel we had stayed at the previous two nights
Pros: This hotel has a great location...close to the airport, close to the downtown waterfront, and easy to get around. It is definitely on the low-end of prices for the area and there was nothing bad about the area around the hotel. The complimentary breakfast was nice, nothing too fancy, but worked out great for a quick bite before meetings.
Cons: The rooms are pretty dated. They have tried to dress them up with new bedding, but the rooms smell terribly of smoke, even though they are 100% non-smoking. The first room I got was so bad with a smoke smell, that I asked to be moved, which they accomodated. However, the second room was just as bad as the first, maybe even worse. My business colleague said the exact same thing about his room, so I am guessing that most rooms smell like smoke.
Cons: For an overnight near the airport with our adult daughter before her morning flight out, we looked for a suite, since her parents both snore. The second bed was a fold-out couch two feet from the first. Since we'd booked through Kayak, no .negotiation with the hotel was possible.
Pros: Convenience. My son and I attended a Maine Red Claws basketball game. The hotel was very convenient to the stadium and I envision the same for a Sea Dogs game. Room was basic but decent size.
Cons: Nothing major. Outside, hallways and lobby were a bit plain and drab.
