Very large, modern room. Good location and an indoor swimming pool. Nice price for this type of accommodation. It took a while before the receptionist showed up. Sauna wasn't working.
Poor quality of breakfast.
Good location and value for money
Huge room, free wifi by madeira government, decent breakfast, nice and spacious loby and dining area, beachfront. All for 40 eur including taxes at booking.com I guess because its off season. Gym includes one dieing running machine and is in heated swimmingpool area . But outside there's a good strech of oceanside jogging path.
The shower was amazing. Food was international and not only Madeira standard cuisine.
Fine sandy beach. Nice restaurants. Easy to park the car. Fine supermarket in the hotelbuilding
nice and relaxing no
Location and view It is not 4 **** hotel
friendly staff, sand beach, free levada walk
Comfortable room, great seaviews, great location for access to walks at Rabacal Horrible pokey multi-storey car park
There is no access to internet in the hotel rooms.
staff very helpful buffet evening meal was a bit of a let down
Placed just next to wonderful beach, and not far from Funchal and beatiful walking passes, very clean, the pool and the plage are great for kids, people are extremely kind, not expensive for its quality
It's a very nice resort hotel, especially at a low season price. Apart from a supermarket right across the street, there isn't anywhere to walk to.
Meals cooked using local produce. Restaurant staff were very friendly. The bedroom was very comfortable As it was out of season there was very limited choice in the restaurant, the lounge area was cold, and we were asked to eat at 7.00 pm. We were also asked for payment, in cash if possible, on arrival. It was 5km from the main road up a very steep hill.
The original features of the quinta and the peaceful relaxing surroundings It did require a car to get to it
Everything was great. What a stunning location, wonderful views in every direction. The staff could not do enough to make our stay special, including cooking what we asked to be prepared as a special meal. there is a wonderful local bar next door that serves great, if lethal, ponchas. there are great levada walks within a few minutes walking distance, the one to the east leads to a second levada that is now unused but retains a superb and spectacular path. It was one of the best levada walks out of the 12 we completed on the holiday. We long to return and enjoy the hotel, room 3 especially, and do more local walking. there are other great restaurants in nearby Ponta do Sol.
Hotel has been totally refurbished and has new owners. We were one of the first couples to stay. Only 2 of the 12 rooms occupied. Staff v helpful - we ate dinner in the restaurant alone - cooked by the cook - excellent home grown avocados, rabbit and dessert. Beautiful gardens - many free silver bananas. Very restful location - ideal contrast to Funchal No complaints about hotel but it is a long way from Ponta Del Sol and really is a hotel rural. Suited us ideally but you could not walk to restaurants nearby if you wanted.
The hotel itself is a beautiful building in a fantastic setting. Not being too big you get good, friendly personal service from the staff. The meals were excellent with most of the food being grown and sourced locally (i.e. on the ewstate). Although in a beautiful setting, access via car (which is really needed due to the position on a steep hillside) is difficult, and the car parking spaces are limited.
rooms are spacious Furniture needs an upgrade.. more modern furniture...
It is central to the area we need to be in. We visit family nearby.
Large room with good views. No parking ,had to park near the small harbour, until a storm put paid to that.
I liked the fact that it's so close to two "levada" walks and the fact that it has a pool, though small. The fact that the pool was not always heated that much, the surrounding gardens need to be taken care of...some flowers are clearly dry. Photos on site are misleading in this case.
This is just one of the best hotels I've stayed at - small yet very cosy and modern! Fantastic ocean view from the room! We stayed there in November, but I've enjoyed taking a swim in the morning and in the evening even if the water was cold. Very good breakfast. There's no bar or restaurant at the hotel, so you have to bring your own food. There's a very small local shop uphill, though, if you don't mind to climb for a wine bottle :) You might find it difficult to locate the hotel on the maps, but the staff will help you.
scenery, silence, comfort, value for money, village environment maybe a welcome drink :)
Super location with excellent view. It was like staying in a private house. Friendly welcome, nice rooms and a good breakfast None
I lived 11 years in Madeira and I never thought that could be such a gorgeous place. Accomodation was equivalent to 5 stars hotel. Ideal place to relax and disconnect from a big city.
Location and views were good, but parking was a bit tight. long walk to rooms. - path was beautiful but not very well maintained.
We loved the location and the view of the mountain from our cosy wooden chalet room. The restaurant had lovely views too and the food for breakfast and dinner was good quality and well presented. The 'welcome' was unfriendly and unwelcoming.
very quiet and in the middle of nature a lot of lizards, sometimes in the room! Keep the windows closed.
The Location was excellant. Good breakfast. Very nice staff. Bathroom could have been better - small shower
The check in process, the overall conditions of the room and the hotel, the room itself was very nice, had a wonderfull view and was very peacefull. In general, everything went just fine. There should have more portuguese channels available in the room.
beatiful, quiet location with superb view; great food; nice, helpful staff, good value for your money no fresh little soaps everyday
Staff was fabulous and the surroundings were beautiful. Food served there was good as well. VERY, VERY hard to find. Need better markings to get there. Also, no air conditioning and was warned not to open the windows due to mosquitos, thus, did not get a good night's sleep, very miserable.
walking, eating! their lovely meals, enjoying the wonderful scenery from inside and out Nothing
The receptionist/waiter (the near sighted one) was extremely friendly. The booking via Booking.com was not registered / arrived at the hotel. After booking with booking.com, it is wish to check the reservation. It worked out fine, but for the same token it would have been full.
Young but very motivated and polite staff. The design of the hotel interior is different to the usual - white and a lot of wood. If you are located in one of the upper rooms you have a beautiful view on the sunset. The menu card of the restaurant is small but every evening they have some different offers - again different to the usual. If you like to get in a hotel which is in a very positive way different to what you usually get and in combination with the hotel facilities of Estalagem Ponta do Sol the Hotel Da Vila represents a very good choice. Ponta do Sol is a calm but very romantic place. At the beginning we had the impression that we were not so welcome when we were going to use the pool or sauna of the mother hotel Estalagem Ponta do Sol. But this impression changed on the third day when we got an individual transfer to the hiking start point because the hotel bus was late. Thanks again!
meals where very good and it was nice sitting at a large table with all the other guests tea and coffee always available which was very good no
Beautiful place and surroundings, lovely staff and food
Lovely old famhouse style hotel on a beautiful vineyard, with a shared pool and views towards the sea.
The hotel was beautiful. The room and the whole facility was very clean, organized and romantic. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. None.
We liked the location, swimming pool, maid service, views and fresh bread in the mornings , ideal getaway from it all and relax type of place. More information is required in the cottages and they are not cool places to sleep in August. Things needed a bit of tlc to bring them up to scratch.
The quiteness, the hospitallity, the styling of the house like the different salons and the kitchen.
The peace, beautiful views, the fact that the cottages were not all on top of each other so that we all had a good measure of privacy. The weather! The cottage provided everything we needed, it was warm and welcoming. The entire staff were helpful, courteous and very welcoming. We felt there needed to be more lighting in the rooms as at night it was difficult to read and the television was not worth watching. Also we felt there needed to be more facilities for light clothes-washing and an iron which is rather essential after a long journey. This should be in each cottage we felt rather than have to go to the Mother House to ask for the loan of an iron.
We were the only people there, it felt like our own house. We were only staying for 2 nights and will return for longer. The entrance gate was slightly difficult to drive into and the drive a bit bumpy.
Homely atmosphere. Communal dining. Self service hot drinks. wi-fi available. Beautiful building and lovely views. Motor access from main road is terrible and it was difficult to negotiate without damaging the hire car. The breakfasts were very good but the dinners could have been better, especially the vegetables.
