B&B Al Cuore Del Borgo - Castelmezzano - Bedroom
2
9.8 Excellent (56 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in the historic center of Castelmezzano, the "Al Cuore del Borgo" Bed and Breakfast is the ideal place to stay and experience one of the most beautiful villages in Italy in complete tranquility. The B & B comes to life within the walls of an old family home, renovated and made welcoming to convey to the guests the intimacy of their own home; in fact, in addition to being complete with the classic services (bed and breakfast), it offers total privacy and independence as there are no common areas. At the heart of the Borgo offers a large bedroom, with 4 beds (double bed and bunk bed), bathroom and a kitchen-living room at guests' disposal with LCD TV, stove, Wi-Fi and the heat of an efficient pellet stove that will warm up in the colder periods. Waking up we offer a hearty breakfast, with cakes and / or cupcakes made with fresh products, biscuits, croissants, cereals, biscuits, jam, nutella, milk, juice, tea, chamomile and coffee. A breakfast that will give you the right charge both to set off to discover our wonderful landscapes through tracking paths, and to face the extraordinary experience of the angel's flight. From our balcony you can enjoy a breathtaking view, admiring the square with the facade of the mother church, the scenery of the Lucanian Dolomites and the famous "Flight of the Angel" whose cables connect Castelmezzano with Pietrapertosa (highest municipality of Basilicata). A few miles away you can reach the park of the Grancia in Brindisi di Montagna, the city of Utopia in Campomaggiore, the park of Gallipoli Cognato and the archaeological excavations in Vaglio di Basilicata. Other interesting places, from a historical-cultural and environmental point of view, to visit are: the famous coast of Maratea, the Sassi di Matera (European capital of culture 2019), the ghost town of Craco, the castle of Frederick II Melfi, the Lakes of Monticchio, the waterfalls of San Fele and Venosa, the city of Orazio.

Pros: The hospitality from Vincenzo and friends in town went beyond expectation. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. Shower was excellent. Vincenzo was fast in his replies and consistent in communication. We had a blast in Castelmezzano and wish we had more time to spend with our new friends!!
Cons: We liked everything about our stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view. The village atmosphere.Vicenco was a great host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely stunning, the owner was really friendly and came to meet us at the car park. Children enjoyed the Italian breakfast and homemade cakes. It is close to a really nice pizza place, we would love to visit this place again to do some trekking maybe in the cooler season.
Cons: Due to the hilly location and narrow streets, there is no parking outside the premises and a few hundred metres walk to the b&b. We didn't mind this at all because it was such a scenic little walk. One very tiny little petty comment, which nobody else in the family minded was that the towels were not very soft, they seemed more like sheets, which British people are not used to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely host vincenzo - with strong support Unbelievable village

Pros: The view is amazing. The owner Vincenzo was very helpful with assisting us with our luggage. The property is very clean. The village is a great place to walk around, with good restaurants. Fresh baked cake for breakfast from Vincenzo wife.

Pros: Our exceptional hostess greeted us very warmly, making us coffee and giving us pastries on our arrival, and filling our water bottles. The friendly guest house is in a great location on the edge of the town with parking outside, and no need to take the car into the small streets. We had a brilliant view of the valley from our balcony. Breakfast was freshly brought in from the local bakery with more coffee and more interesting conversation with our hostess.
Cons: We got into a conversation about Brexit with two other guests which we could have done without..

Pros: We liked the view over Pietrapertosa and the host was very nice. Also, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Having access to the kitchen to prepare your own breakfast is a plus, especially as we are not used to the sweet food italian breakfast. The location is also close to the Castle.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host is very nice and brought a homemade cake. the breakfast good.
Cons: The parking is very far and and requires climbing to the place and no view to the mountains as described in the room description.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little apartment
8.8 Excellent
Pros: B & B L'Arrabatana is a precious little B & B located in the citta vecchia of Pietrapertosa, Italy. My maternal grandparents were born here in the late 1800's. The scenery there is unlike anywhere. Sabrina is a wonderful hostess. The apartment itself is tucked away among the steps and jagged rocks. It was immaculate and stocked with yogurt, sweets and dolce for our breakfast. Sabrina outlined all the places we should see in Pietrapertosa and was very hospitable. It was quiet and peaceful. Once there, you walk everywhere and it was close to the City Center and good restaurants.
Cons: My husband and I are in our 70's and getting access to the B & B was a bit difficult. For younger people it will be just fine as part of the charm is that it is tucked away among the rocks. There are many stairs to get to the B & B itself and to take to get anywhere. We are fairly healthy and didn't mind but for those who are not physically fit, the location could be a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome from neighbors and Sabrina was very warm in fact we were warmly greeted by everyone we meant over our time in the village. The accommodation was perfect and Sabrina even helped us bring our luggage from the car ( interesting free street parking) There are quite a few steps up to and down to the apartment as there is within the whole village. Much of what makes this a really unique experience, so pack comfortable walking shoes. We found the little extra touches delightful especially the home baked apricot breakfast tart. The newly renovated apartment offers a very comfortable stay and is in a great position in the old town, allowing you to experience the village life. Many thanks to Sabrina and her family too. The only unfortunate aspect was the lack of wifi in the apartment and while the town has free internet in some public spaces you need an Italian phone number to register to it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in a lovely part of the village. Very friendly host, speaking good English, which happens very rarely in this part of Italy. Appartment was really clean and well equipped.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything!!!
Cons: The breakfast - you must find another village!

8.8 Excellent (32 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ferdinanda and Antonio were perfect hosts. Their B&B is absolutely charming. They were so accommodating. I was in the Trivigno area to find the town where my grandfather was born. When I told Ferdinanda, she immediately called someone in the area who helps visitors connect with ancestors. I was able to find the birth certificate and walk on the same streets of my grandmother and grandfather. I would have not have been able to do that without her help. The breakfast was very good... the bread was amazing. We communicated all with a google app and everything was perfect!
Cons: It was perfect!

Cons: breafast is lean

Pros: Very nice welcome and a hospitality. The room was spatious and had all the necessary amenities. The balcony is great to use and the hammock in the courtyard is a nice addition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As with most properties in Castelmezzano, it is a good walk uphill to the apartment but well worth the hike. What a beautiful view! What an interesting and enchanting town!
Cons: It was a little challenging figuring out the location at first but the hostess provided a phone number and met us in the plaza close to where we parked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful! Amazing host who made us a fresh breakfast pie and was incredibly welcoming! Charming town and an amazing view from the patio, with an extra seating area outside the main entrance.
Cons: Nothing, it was perfect!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the balcony is outstanding. Peaceful environment and self serve delicious breakfast. The owner bought us delicious cakes. The little lounge and kitchenette are nice extras. Parking was not a problem outside of the village and we took a small overnight backpack which made walking to the accommodation so much easier.
Cons: The bathroom is very small and not much room in the shower. The decor is a bit dated but quite a retro style to it which many would love.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The view was very nice
Cons: It is not a b&b and it is terrible. The host was not there. The host of another b&b helped me. The host finally showed up at 5:00. The room is a semi studio apartment. It is old and tired. The pillows are horrible! The heat was turned on for us at 5pm and went off by midnight. This place is nowhere near where Bookings claims it is. There is no breakfast on site. You are sent a quarter mile away to a dark bar. The people in the neighboring room “came home” at 1 in the morning. Do not stay here!

Pros: Lovely appartment in an authentic and unspoilt village with beautiful mountain view, very quiet. For dinner we had to drive to a nearby village as there was no restaurant, however there are supermarkets for self-caterers (the appartment has a well equipped kitchen).
Cons: Nothing.
