Excellent location in the the Cotswolds. Clean, tidy rooms with white sheets on lofty down comforter. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner in the the restaurant was fantastic...very gourmet and excellent value. Service was impeccable. Very friendly staff. Welcoming and accommodating. Took the time to orient us to the region and even gave us a hand-drawn map. Excellent value for money. Our room in the front of the building (on the Square) did get some noise from the street. Not bad but if you're sensitive, you might request a garden-facing room. Also, the room was a bit dark and closet had no light.
Very comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms. Staff were friendly and thoughtful and the breakfasts were great. Nothing. Very impressed with everything regarding the hotel.
Room was great, and very clean. Food good, would stay again.. More lighting needed in car park
Very individual ,great furnishing without being too busy it was lovely and clean with plenty of room
In the heart of the Cotswolds. An old hotel which has been sympathetically refurbished. Excellent food-good value.
Apart from the amazing food & great ambience in restaurant I loved the attention to detail of the furnishings- the lighting and tasteful decor was just perfect. We stayed in a downstairs cottage room which was lovely but noisy from the upstairs room. Also there was just a small sort of communal area outside of the bar where you could sit (I think) but it wasn't too inviting or at least no one was sitting there....
Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. Poor mattress, lumpy due to springs.
Roomy and reasonably quiet. Room was rather warm at night. Parking was a minor problem.
The food was excellent and staff very professional Lack of attention in restaurant throughout evening meal Room only had hand held shower
The staff were lovely, welcoming and professional.
relaxing atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff no
It's location for our touring needs. The Hotel gardens gave one an impression of seclusion even in the centre of the village. I know the hotel is old but the squeaking floor boards in both the bedroom and particularly the hallways with the families going up and down any time of day or evening, can become annoying.
The room and the food were excellent It was all good!
The service was pleasant, efficient and courteous. The food was excellent. It was reasonably quiet considering its location in the centre of the town. We were not there long enough to make further judgementts. The hotel is inadequately signed, merely a faded name over the front door. Unless one was familiar with the trade-mark "C", it was very difficult to find the carpark, There is then a longish walk to enter the hotel.
Great parking.......and free! Great position in a lovely town in a beautiful area, and good food - fine dinig if you want, bistro-style if not. One member of staff made a mistake and didn't acknowledge it, but his junior more than made up for him.
The staff were excellent, catering to our every need. The breakfast gave a wide choice and the food was first class. This luxuary hotel is in an excellent location. Unfortunately, unlike our previous stay at Cotswold House Hotel, the carpet in our room had not been cleaned and remained 'unhoovered' for the three days of our stay. The settee was covered in fluff and hair. The Bang & Olefson tv had no BBC channel and the Skybox kept switching itself off.
Quality of staff. Excellent breakfasts Hotel hard to find- badly labelled
Location of the hotel and comfort of rooms I did not like the long wait for food in the resturant
The bathroom was lovley, and the room was nice, the facilities were good. Yes definately. The hotel looked alot more impressive on the website than in reality, and the biggest issue is the cost! It is a lovley hotel with spectacular prices but the hotel is certainly not spectacular enough to warrant the charges. I would have cancelled my reservation if I had been paying full price for a very nice room, but again not impressive enough to justify the cost.
The hotel is lovely, the lobby and bar were very cosy. The bed was comfortable, and I loved the pillow menu. The fridge in our room consisted of water, and milk that had gone off. The fridge was not cold. The room was very very hot, with a very noisy fan, we had a delux double room, but we did not feel that it was a delux double room at all, as room 6 did not look like any of the rooms advertised, if I had known they had rooms like this I would not have stayed here.
The location was excellent for exploring the Cotswolds. Staff were always friendly and helpful during our stay. The mattress on the bed was very lumpy. The toilet did not flush well, and sometimes it ran without the water turning off. There was no lift for travelers with heavy luggage.
The excellent breakfast, the room upgrade and the public rooms and newspapers. Was disappointed that the log fire had not been lit
We enjoyed the atmostphere and charm of the hotel and we were upgraded to a four poster room on arrival. The room was quite cold and we had problems with no hot water for the majority of our stay.
Traditional place but over rated in some ways The staff were fine but sometimes had the feeling they were laughing at guests and talking in their own language together.
Restaurant food was good, Staff were helpful, location etc. very good. Restaurant Menu selection could be wider. Details of parking could be provided before arrival.
All the staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. Lovely big comfy sofa in lounge and very comfy arm chairs around. Dining conservatory was lovely. Great breakfast and great fish and chips.Beautiful location in lovely village. The only thing was the smoke alarm was directly over the bed and the flashing red light was quite annoying when trying to sleep. I did mention it at reception the following morning and they said they were aware of this and had complaints before. We were given the option of changing rooms but as we were only there for one more night we declined. The main reason being my husband has limited mobility and we were quite happy with where the room was and didn`t want one further away.
Comfortable bed- good food. Wonderful town to visit. Room a bit small, reception rooms a bit worn.
ambience and location
visiting nearby National Trust properties We cannot think of anythjng we didnt like during our stay and enjoyed every minute
Location - Service - Friendly Staff - Quality Food
the central location the bathroom was tired
comfortable, clean rooms and friendly staff no
nothing No wastebin in the room. Springs on the bed sticking up so had to turn mattress over but still too soft and uncomfortable.
Evening meal and good wine
The food and the staff
Dog and owner in that order An invoice would be prefarable to a till receipt
Friendly Good food Conveient for getting around A few minor details could have been improved ieRazor point and light above mirror in bathroom, a mirror in bedroom, a hanging rail in wardrobe and a waste bin!
The location is a wonderful base for touring the Cotswolds. Chipping Campden is a quintessential english country village. The Red Lion is a very useful base with good staff and great food. The rooms are basic but in a quaint old inn so to be expected. The first room we got was on the ground floor and the main road into the village runs along side the inn so it was a little noisy. But once we asked for a change we got a room in the attic no problem.
Good breakfast and food No use of telephone
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the evening meal we enjoyed there was of a high quality, breakfast was very good.
location poor service
very comfortable and relaxing place set in beautiful location. Good base for exploring the Cotswolds
Everything which was promised was delivered.
The hotel staff, especially the porter Matt, could not help you enough. Location is also beautiful. Breakfast on Sunday was a bit hectic, only small dining area with two hour slot is tight with 26 full rooms. No tea/coffe making facilities in room big disappointment, however, we packed our own after reading other reviews on this site. Well done.
The cost of the evening meal and the fact that the cost was not published anywhere not even in the menu or the room.
Extremely polite and helpful staff from in every respect from booking in to departure Price of drinks from the bar were overpriced e.g x2 spritzers at £11
Lovely location, staff were great and hotel and food fantastic
Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Some of the spa facilities were a little tired and needed some attention.
the location There wasnt any information within the rooms abouts meal times - opening and closing of restaurant
Good value and convenient for work in nearby village next day My only quibble is that I like to sleep with a bedroom window open, but did not because my room was on the ground floor.
Great location with extensive well kept grounds
excellent value for money with no compromise to comfort.
scenery rooms were quite dated with stains on carpet and walls ,
Facilities in the room were very good, and it was certainly value for money Would have liked a take away service for food, as a solo traveller did not want to eat alone also earlier breakfast would have been useful.
Great place,fab breakfast.
We had great service from them they are all helpful and cheerful. Had good breakfast as well.
Location, very clean and pleasent hotel, would recommend to anyone to stay, for business and pleasure
Friendly staff, basic but comfortable room, lovely rural setting, nice cooked breakfast buffet included
service and location
Lovely room, with own courtyard. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Good food. None
Excellent location for touring and sightseeing around The Cotswolds. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and dining was a pleasureable experience. The hotel represents good value, especially when compared to hotels of similar quality in nearby Chipping Campden
Staff friendly and efficient. Food excellent Very bad coffee - need to invest in decent coffee machine to enable the making of Americanos, cappucinos etc.
We particulary stayed here for the pudding club eventwhich was a great evening.Breakfast is superb. Rooms are lovely all individual decorated and furnished
Attentive yet informal staff. Disappointed that only terrestrial TV stations available
breakfast was good, the garden was nice, the sitting room very nice.bathroom modern. the room was small and had an old decor.....we were dissapointed as it was quite expensive and we have stayed in much nicer rooms for a lot less,no fridge,no iron, lights too dull to read by.felt a little ripped off.
Excellent hotel, excellent room, excellent service, excellent food !! Absolutely none !!
staff very helpful good all round service, lovely location, food excellent well worth a stay! and yes we would love to visit again - thank you for the warm welcome you gave to us all. n/a
Comfortable room, very clean bathroom. Breakfast arrived on time and was hot. It was very nice to have a radio in the room too.
The wonderful historical environment and building. We had some problems with service at meal times; long waits for table in the restaurant: we were booked in at 20.30 but were not seated until 22.00.
Very nice pool and leisure facilities. Cosy reception rooms with log fires, good breakfast
dinner, breakfast, location bedroom
The hotel is situated in a beautiful village and is quite unique. I was there for a friends wedding and the hotel made every effort to ensure it was a wonderful day for both the couple and there guests. It was a memorable experience.
the staff were wonderful very attentive 5 star There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room
An excellent 'olde worlde' hotel which suits the lovely village of Broadway and is in a firstclass position for tours of the Cotswolds.Friendly staff although the language barrier sometimes got in the way, the Spanish do not understand marmalade! Excellent facilties. Our stay was spoiled by the fact that the heating went off soon after our arrival and was not restored until the early hours of the morning helping to ruin the evening in the hotel especially as this was an annual re-union of eight people, in their seventies who look forward to this occassion
a tad hoity toity, but a whole lot of nice and friendly. excellent breakfast. but plates burned hand. minor blister next day. wait staff warned plates were hot, but one tends to unconsciously touch plate during meal. facility would be sued in a more litigious society. no AC. Fan available, but only upon request. nice pool, and friendly pleasant attendant.
The ambience and setting of the hotel is excellent,as is the history surrounding the it.The position is excellent. The service was extremely slow in the restaurant and we waited over half an hour to place our food order. The restaurant itself was very cold, so much so that one of our party had to fetch a jumper from his room. The cold also stopped us from ordering dessert. Our friends also requested an additional heater for their room.Overall we felt that the experience was not up to the standard expected from such a hotel.
Brasserie restruarant poor - refer to sheet left with the management at the reception on departure. For this reason we cancelled the second night in the restaurant and found somewhere else very local with far better quality food.
staff care, overall ambience Have stayed before and loved it though was slightly less pleased this time - building work at hotel was well managed and not very disruptive though spoiled things somewhat - beakfast nowhere near as fabulous as last time, restaurant moved so little ambience - unavoidable with building works but would have preferred to be told about this in advance. Room very ordinary but, again, building works constrained availability.
The staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming. Great decor, good food and a nice atmosphere in all areas.
The staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Only one the toilet in our room required 3 to 4 flushes. Too little water dispensed at a time, downstairs were toilets fine.
The hotel has lots of character and plenty of olde world charm. Also it has just been modernised so all the bedroom furniture and fittings were very modern and in good condition We have been in room 112 before and in that instance there was damp/leak problem with water coming in the ceiling by the window, despite the refit, there is still a problem with damp in the room. The room smells "damp" when you arrive and the sloped ceiling above the bed is "wet". Also breakfast service could be a little quicker. That first cup of coffee needs to be with us fast!
comfortable room, helpful friendly staff general atmosphere in the bar & dining room, location & food
Spacious room and bathroom, private outside seating area.Good central location.
we stayed one night. The room was a good size, it was clean & the decor was good. We had a good open view of Moreton high street. The bed was comfortable. we got complimentary tea/coffee and sparkling wine brought up to us on our arrival which was great. The only meal we had in the hotel was breakfast and it was very good. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs with no lift but the staff carried our bags up for us.
Relaxed, informal but very good quality. Really liked the decor mixed with the really old beautiful building. Fantastic location for a relaxed weekend - lovely shops and pubs.
A very relaxing hotel in good order. Due to age of building noise from room above was disturbing
There were very few if any good points. Could not check in until 6 pm. Room was small with no chairs. tv was small, ancient without a remote control. Despite particularly cold weather the heating never came on. From ordering breakfast, it took 40 minutes to arrive. Food was unimpressive and not value for money. Safe car parking virtually impossible.
Meals and breakfast excellent. Room excellent. Staff pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. No bad points really except not being able to book in until 6.00 pm
Rooms were very nice, modern but classical. Food was excellent. Check-in can be slightly problematic as it is only available when the bar is open, which is after 6pm mid-week.
Charming location, very atmospheric pub / hotel with old world feel. Staff very helpful and competent. Food excellent. Bed very comfortable. Clean throughout No shower over bath (I believe due to water tank installation problems). Lighting in room not in keeping with decor. Decor a little faded in both the bedroom and bathroom. Access to room from pub / outside rather tatty. Food, although, as above, excellent was rather expensive.
The breakfast was better than some 5 star hotels we've stayed in as was the evening meal.
location of hotel, and friendliness and layout of the bar meals in restaurant were over-priced
The room was excellent and so was the food and service. N/A (We liked it all)
The room was very warm and comfortable and the evening meal was excellent. Good value for money.
Pleasant friendly atmosphere with a good buffet breakfast included. Excellent evening meals also available. Alarm clock left set from previous resident woke us up at 7:30.
The location to the train station was excellent. The fresh flowers and the complimentary brandy were a great touch to our stay at the Redesdale Arms Hotel. My friend and I wanted and got a great time in the Cotswolds with the help of this hotel.
friendly, relaxed atmosphere, good car parking area.
The room was very comfortable and well equipped. We liked the complimentary sherry in the room! The restaurant was excellent - we had two very good evening meals there. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
good service, warm welcome
The food in the dining room was excellent. The service was prompt and the the food was delicious. Very helpful over my wife's need for a gluten-free diet. The shower had a 'corner door' which made it difficult to use.
the efficiency of the staff during the stay was first rate - rooms fantastic value for money as was the food
Not sure breakfast sausages were local ones as advertised.
The best English Breakfast we had on our recent 10 days in England. Bed was not comfortable.
Very helpful staff, newly-refurbished and large room, lovely breakfast, lacked pretensions of other pubs/hotels in Chipping Campden
Beautiful room with own patio To get to room you had to walk down an alley at the side of rthe pub
Uncomfortable bed. Thin walls - very noisy.
Friendly and helpful staff
An extremely friendly welcome. Staff made us feel like they really appreciated our business. Excellent location. Room was tastefully decorated (perhaps recently done). The bedroom and en-suite shower room were sparkling clean. The shower was one of the best hotel showers we have used. (Your web site shows no reviews as there have not been enough yet)
The breakfasts would set you up for the full day. Room very comfortable and clean. These are not dislike points - but information for further guests - the car park is some distance away, so those with difficulty walking should note. Also the restaurant serves Indian dishes - again I only mention this for information for future guests. All in all - nothing to complain about.
fabulous and very romantic. loved it
Excellent location, restaurant, pub, reception area and lounge. Excellent breakfast. Standard room small, but that is a general problem with older hotels. Bed was small & too soft, but it had to fit the room.
attentive service! knowledgeable staff! restaurant a little expensive
I don't think you can find a better example of an Olde England Cotswold hotel. Log fires, beams, uneven floors, mullioned windows, beautiful garden and courtyard. But a lot of thought and money has been spent on bringing it up to modern standards and the furnishings and design are brilliant. Luxury, but not stuffy. The soft lighting in our bedroom (Room 9, Tudor Moot Room) made it hard to put my makeup on. Had to wait for my husband to finish in the bathroom so I could use the mirror in there , but there was no where to place my makeup bag. The electric shower is feeble. Neither of these points would put me off going to The Manor House again!
Lovely room and helpful staff. Plenty of space in the communal areas and lovely breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the gardens. On arrival, the room was a double not a twin and the beds weren't separated until late. However, the staff were very apologetic and we were offered complimentary drinks.
Pretty garden and garden room where we had a very good breakfast Terrible access to our bedroom, tv did not work clearly and loo flush in bathroom was very poor
Stylish interior whilst maintaining the mature building.
Nice old hotel Our room was above the bar which was extremely noisy
reception staff very pleasant and efficient we found the restaurant service and food a bit fussy.
Location, ambience, friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast and dinner in the Courtyard Restaurant. It was the nicest weekend break we've had for years and the hotel was the major factor. Although it is only rated as a 3 star we think it deserves more.
In the centre of the village. Good restaurant. Comfortable room.
Food - excellent service the weather!
Friendliness of staff
Hotel was quiet, breakfasts were excellent, restaurant dinners were excellent and priced fairly, staff was very helpful and friendly.
restaurant excellent friendly & helpful staff Some areas a bit old and tired
Thought the content and presentation of the breakfast was excellent. Rooms were good value for money. The range of beer at the bar could have been better. Even with radiator off we found the duvets to be too heavy resulting in overheating and a disturbed sleep.
1. Location 2. Historical nature of hotel buildings. 3. Warm attentive nature of staff. Pillows, small square ones - not proper oblong ones. Got to be good if that's all we didn't like !
Location, willingness to accomodate a bed for our 11 year old son, parking facilities and quality of breakfast. An unconfortable, a bit "dangerous" unnecessary short step accesing/leaving the WC.
Bed was to die for!!
