Located within a protected building dating from 1832, this 3-star hotel is just off Cochem's historic market square. It offers award-winning gourmet cuisine and free WiFi in the public areas. Set in a quiet side street, the family-run Boutique-Hotel Lohspeicher has non-smoking rooms with romantic décor, a TV, and a modern bathroom. The Boutique-Hotel Lohspeicher’s L'Auberge Du Vin restaurant is listed in gourmet guides including Michelin and Gault Millau. The restaurant is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 18:00, and advance bookings are necessary. The property is only a 7-minute walk from Reichsburg Castle. It is also a good base for outings in the scenic Moselle River Valley.
Location in the city, no river view but nice combination of old building with modern renovation style. Really friendly staff and owners. Room was big and bathroom was ok. Restaurant was expensive but worth every cent. Breakfast was good too.
We liked the hotel but maybe someone might not like the steep streets around.
Fabulous food provided by very gracious hosts...fairy tale location & pristine hotel accomodations.
The staff were very friendly, and very helpful. They could not be faulted. Breakfast was fabulous - very relaxed. Despite beds, would definitely stay there again.
Beds not so great, although this is personal none of the 4 in our party slept well due to the bedsPoor bathroom storage. Could have done with some better signposting to hotel which is difficult to find - but in a fabulous location.
It was simply fantastic - both the hotel and the restaurant were first class and the staff absolutely wonderful
beautiful setting and wonderful friendly welcoming staff. The car park was up the hill a bit away but the hotel staff helped with the baggage so this wasnt a problem
Excellent location, just off the main market square. Not too long of a walk from the train station, and pretty quiet at night, in spite of the central location. Also the breakfast is very nice.
The room was a bit cramped for the cost. The shower did not work particularly well.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of the city and in easy walking distance of the main atractions. Side trips to other towns are easy by car or by train. The breakfast included in the price is excellent. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable.
No real negatives but be aware that the great location is a double edged sword in that being in the center of action you can get street noise and so sleeping in is not possible. But, who cares? We were there for doing things and seeing things and wanted early starts anyway.
The room was small to average size, but quite luxurious. Although a little cramped, the bathroom was modern. The bed was large and comfortable. Our room had a nice view of the fortress. The host was by far the best part of the experience, being extremely friendly and helpful.
People who are driving here need to know that the hotel is inaccessible by car. The hotel parking is only a 2 minute walk away, but requires a key, available from reception, for entry. Also, the parking is a little tricky to get to, requiring one to drive a large loop up a hill then back down again. It is technically possible to get to the parking directly from the riverside road, but this requires driving through the market place - very scary, and needs a permit, again avaiable from the hotel.
It was great to be able to speak directly with Birgit and Ingo, the owners of the Lohspeicher. In our too-short stay of four nights, they made us feel as if we were "at home" in their home. The accommodations we had in the "deluxe" non-smoking room were lovely--lots of space, a very modern, large, updated bathroom, and extremely clean. There was even a teddy bear on each bed to welcome us! Outstanding dinner offered in Chef Ingo's 3-star dining room, L'Auberge du Vin, where they even serve wine from the family vineyards!
While this was not a negative to us, if a guest has trouble walking up stairs, they might find it difficult accessing the hotel as it is accessible only by climbing a set of cobblestone stairs to get there.
No entertainment, no tv, no phone, no internet
