Pros: The location was on a hillside with a beautiful view of Maple Bay. Sharon was a welcoming host who let us charge our ebikes. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and generous, served on the deck while viewing the birds and deer.

Pros: We had the best time ever! Sharon and Barry made our stay unforgettable. They were lovely, caring and kind! The B&B is close to the ocean. The view is fantastic. There are animals all around. We loved every second of our stay! Everything was perfectly clean and comfy and the breakfast was amazing. Thank you Sharon and Barry for the perfect time we had and for having us!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The two bedrooms of this lovely B&B are located in the lower walkout area of the house and had a private entrance. We had everything that we needed and enjoyed the peace and quiet in this wonderful location on the hill above the bay. My husband and I both slept very well in our cozy room and comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent -we all enjoyed yogurt with fresh berries and granola and the homemade blueberry pancakes were delicious! Sharon is an amazing host and made us feel right at home. We liked that she and her husband Barry joined us for breakfast and we were especially happy that a couple from Germany was staying in the other room. It made for lively and interesting conversation over breakfast. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Duncan.

Pros: Sharon and Barry are VERY friendly and make you feel at home; breakfast was AMAZING!!!! and I loved sitting in the garden watching all the birds -tons of yellow finches and, of course, hummingbirds ;)
Cons: I never thought that road could be so noisy, but if you bring ear plugs you will be ok. Also, if you are a late riser, it is not good. Action upstairs starts early and the sounds travel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is not a B&B - so no breakfast was prepared. But, our host Dave left some fresh goodies in the fridge, and you could have made a pretty nice breakfast for yourself if you wanted to.
Cons: The only thing (THE ONLY THING) that I would quibble about was the fact that the lighting in my bedroom had only 1 option - ambient, low intensity. Sounds nice right? But when you're working, you need a place (often at a dark time of day) when you need to crank-up the lighting to get work done. You also need a bright light option when you're packing (often early or late) to get out and make your travel itinerary on time. Again - that's a small thing. When my associate and I were there, we had the whole house to ourselves, so we could improvise work space locations. All-in, it was a pleasure staying there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Terrific host. Beautiful home. Great location for all area amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This bed and breakfast was the best I have stayed in. It has a welcoming atmosphere and you feel encouraged to use all areas of the home. The front sitting area has large windows so you can see the mountains and lake view. The kitchen is stocked with breakfast items and has spices etc if you wanted to cook your own meals. The bedrooms are roomy and luxurious. A pool table is available for use along with a elliptical machine. As the owner lives in a different house right beside this one, he is close enough for assistance but you do not feel that you are living in their home like most B&B's.
Cons: Although there are TV's in all the common areas there was no TV in my bedroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owner, very high quality facilities and a good location.
Cons: We were at first disappointed that a prepared breakfast wasn't provided as it is in most B&B's.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The hosts let us drop off some of our things early so that we could hike all day without carrying so much. The hosts were very friendly.

Cons: Very poor internet connection.
5.8 Okay
Pros: comfortable bed
Cons: a screen door on main entrance to loft would allow for cross ventilation. otherwise, the only fresh air comes from smallish window above bed. Hosts were not home to greet us upon arrival and had committed to text dinner recommendation but didn't. Breakfast was not up to expectations (fruit appeared not to be fresh, but thawed from frozen).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hi-Point is a fully functioning farm with horses, cattle, dogs and deer in the field. It sits beautifully in the rolling hills, fields and nearby vineyards. There is a lovely spring fed small lake with an open air cabin for meals and wine. The host is very gracious and helpful and the accommodation is large and bright with a garden patio. The breakfast is homemade and tasty.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast consisted of fresh homemade waffles,, bacon, home grown blueberries, eggs and toast. Plenty to eat. Service by our hosts were fantastic. Very easy to talk to.
Cons: I came with a large group of horses and people. There was plenty of room for everyone. On the down side a few of our horses chose not to drink the water as the sulfur smell took awhile to dissipate. The footing for the first leg of our rides was quite rocky. I would recommend bring boots or have shoes on your horses and a backup plan for water just in case

4.3 Okay
Pros: Very nice spot. Centrally located.
Cons: The owner was rude, disorganized and we left early a day early as this is not what I was expecting. The other guest within the house were told where to sit at breakfast, questioned how many times we flushed the toilets, and then when served breakfast she got our order wrong and then when tried to correct her it was if we were getting scolded by my grandmother. I was very very disappointed and actually shocked when I came home and re-read the reviews.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Owners attention, ambience of the house including a fireside breakfast, close to venues and awesome Indian restaurant. Delicious breakfast and meal presentation was great. Pillows and bedding were perfect.
Cons: No place to sit for early morning sun, I was comfortable but my husband felt the bed was small for two adults and a little hard. The grounds could use some tender loving care (tlc) .

10.0 Excellent
Pros: So many thoughtful details and Teresa was so lovely
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A minute or two from the main highway it was a peaceful stay sleeping in a very comfortable bed waking up to the birds singing in the a.m. Facilities were shared but excellent and Teresa had everything on hand from sunscreen to q tips. I chose the breakfast option and was glad I did as it was fantastic. Thank you Teresa for your hospitality, it was very much appreciated.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very sweet and a great cook. We really enjoyed the breakfast and friendly email communication. We really appreciated the host making a smoothie for my partner with a broken jaw.
Cons: The tv in the bedroom wasn’t hooked up to any cable or anything, so it wasn’t able to play any channels. For the shared bathroom shower, you would need to go downstairs and past the kitchen. I read TV and bathroom on the ad and assumed that meant a TV that worked and a private bathroom. The host was also very confused when I called about my booking and had me feeling as though my booking wasn’t confirmed or perhaps it was on the wrong night, but then the host explained she just forgot and her book wasn’t in front of her at the time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very kind and helpful, Theresa is one of a kind. The house is very nice indeed. Breakfast was great!
Cons: You need to know that you have to share bathrooms with other guests but it was no problem. I would recommend a car to get around.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Our host made us a delicious early breakfast to work with our schedule. Lovely heritage building and park-like setting. Convenient location just off the main highway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A couple of cold beverages from Teresa and Jim when we first arrived after a long hot hike. And two bananas (besides breakfast) to send us on the way the next morning. A small sample of hotel proprietor friendliness from this great guest house!
Cons: Nothing; a wonderful place for the tired traveller.

6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were pleasant and extremely responsive whenever we had problems. Location is good. Beds are comfortable.
Cons: We were in what may be their worst room, #32, back in a dark corner, so the room was dim even with lights on and curtains open. Some more powerful light bulbs are needed in this particular room. The toilet seat was broken at the time of check in. While staff immediately came to fix the problem, I believe this is something housekeeping should have noticed and addressed prior to checking anyone into the room. The following morning, the shower broke, with the tap attachment suddenly falling into 5 pieces. Again, staff came immediately to fix the issue, but I really do feel these kind of things should be checked regularly and maintained before they inconvenience guests. Also, the floors were tiled, which I like as it is much cleaner than carpeting, however, it does require a DAMP mop rather than just a vacuum cleaner. The floor always felt gritty, even right after housekeeping had been in. I am a barefoot indoors kinda person and after spending the evening walking across these floors, my feet were as dirty as if I had been walking outside.....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: spacious room and clean; with a bathtub!

7.0 Good
Pros: We’ve stayed here a number of times and the staff are always friendly and the room is always clean. This time we had a problem with the coffee maker and the housekeeping staff dealt with it immediately.
Cons: I feel like for the price you pay for the room, a few extra amenities wouldn’t hurt. Things like a towel rack, and a box of tissue would go a long way.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great
Cons: The bed are slightly less hard than plywood sheets

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Louisa is an awesome straight shooter. Great to do business with. Suites were huge and had everything imaginable for meal preparations. Furnishings looked quite new and were large and comfortable. Did I say the suites were huge ? Quiet building so I'm guessing they do a pretty good job scrutinizing guests.
Cons: On the negative the laneways and parking are very narrow and edged with abrasive raised curbs that will destroy your hubcaps. A big deal in a rental. They could use a smoking area or outdoor ashtray. East facing rooms can get quite warm but a shower and fan fixes that. There is no aircon. They could save a fortune by updating their shower/.bath hardware as it's either a gushing full blast or nothing. Just to switch from bath faucette to shower was multiple turns of a knob. I never did figure out whether the TV was pay for view or had any free channels.

Cons: I have knee issues so all the stairs involved were a bit of an issue. In retrospect i might have stayed someplace else but i managed for the rwo nights i was there. There was a TV in my room but it had not been hooked up yet so one day i had time to kill before i was being picked up it would have been nice to watch some TV.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. It was awesome. Great people. Great location. Heaven on earth
Cons: I couldn't stay longer as I had to go back to deadmonton.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Did not like anything about this B&B....Bedroom door had no lock, had to go down main stairs through owners house to get to the shower room, towels never changed, shortage of plugs so had to boil kettle in toilet, waste bin never emptied. Breakfast awful...what you did not eat was left out for the next day... Booked in for 3 days and stayed as the location was convenient for our needs. They had no payment machine that takes your card number and to top it all....stayed for 3 nights and the owners did not even know our names...NOT GOOD... not how to run a B&B...VERY PRICEY

9.5 Excellent (14 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location @maple bay close to Duncan - bayview in a calm area!!! The lovely guesthouse is divided in 4 different parts: sleeping lot, kitchen, living room and terrace. Special: hot tub and sauna and very friendly host Renee!!! The only thing to know for other guests: very steep and small ladder to the bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: LOVED the property - ocean view, beautiful scenery, LOVED the (clean) little cabins - the sleeping one is really a bunk bed with the bathroom underneath. The patio has plastic coverings that you can open in the summer so it doesn't obstruct the view, and zip up the see-through plastic if it's windy ( we didn't need to). LOVED the privacy - they even have a curtain so you can feel really alone. PERFECT for romantic getaways. (Has sauna and hot tub too - didn't need that in August!) Host very friendly and helpful.
Cons: 1) You have to drive just a little ways to get groceries if you are planning on preparing meals. 2) That I couldn't move in permanently
7.5 Good
Pros: The location. It is very quiet and the view of the water is amazing
Cons: The size. It is really small and there is no place to stand beside the bed and the ceiling is low in the bedroom.

Pros: Ocean/marina facing rooms in Cowichan which is so relaxed and friendly. Lovely stopover after busy Victoria before Tofino.
Cons: There was a party in a function room directly above our bedroom which did not cease music and dancing (could hear the heel noise) until nearly midnight. Was really unhappy as they should have told us. Were offered a reduction on the rate but still didn’t feel that compensated us properly.

Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love the view from Room #214 - we want to come back soon :)
Cons: I found it a little bit run down but I still loved it for the view.
6.3 Good
Pros: Loved the view and all the shops so close by Loved the spaciousness of the room and having a kitchen was awesome We really enjoyed walking around the peer and loved the fact that there was a little market within walking distance
Cons: The price for the weekend nights was over $300 CD and the condition of the room is not worth that much. All the grout in the bathroom needs to be re-done, the ceiling in the bathroom was very shabby, when we arrived there wasn’t much toilet paper on the roll and no extra rolls to be found, and there weren’t enough towels for the three of us. You’re paying for the view and the ambiance of the location but it’s too bad the rooms aren’t updated more. The walk down to the shops is also very unsafe because there really are no sidewalks. You have to walk along the very narrow road where the cars are driving. We didn’t have any people in our group that have mobility issues but if we did it would have been difficult for them to maneuver around the street.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The view is spectacular! The owners are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Some of the other guests were a bit noisy, (large group of kids one night, but we don't fault the owners for that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean! The view was great
Cons: The tv was small and I guess the room could use some updating
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly owners
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent budget choice in a small tourist-focused town. The in-room mini-refrigerator was a nice feature. The beds were comfortable.
Cons: This is a rather ‘tired’ property - the window wouldn’t slide open, the carpeting wasn’t very clean.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: There was no breakfast. The only thing that worked for us was the short distance to the tennis club.
Cons: The room was dark. We asked for a second floor room, but was denied. There is not enough room in the kitchen and a cutting board would have been nice. The bathroom faucet needs fixing as it rotates past the turn-off point.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Liked everything. Rooms are better than they look in photos on the internet (we 3 couples had rooms on 2nd for at front facing the sea). Free WIFI in rooms and grounds worked really well. PowerPoints in good locations. Lighting good. Water pressure fine. Friendly owners. Washing machine ($2.50, 30min cycle) & Dryer ($1.50, 45min cycle) in common area Great location just on very edge of tiny Cowichan Bay (lovely town with a few great eating places overlooking the water). Is right across from the bird estuary on the inlet. Don't need a car for town activities (even though we had one). Car useful if going to Kinsol Trestle bridge or to wineries or the Raptor Ctr up at Duncan etc. About 50min drive to Butchart Gardens.
Cons: Only minor improvements I can think of would be: a PC & printer available at reception (for travellers to print out things like boarding passes) and a couple more plates in kitchenette (does have 2 of everything in room, but when cooking a third plate, etc, can be extremely handy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Couple who run it were friendly & professional & went out of their way to make sure we were happy and had a good stay. Quiet sleep, great view, good value for money. We'll be back & would absolutely recommend.
Cons: Decor isn't super modern but is clean and comfortable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly and accomodating staff. Good location. Quiet at night.
Cons: Side room was a little dark with natural light. Had to have lights on most of the time. Could use new pillows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners who had provided everything one needs to be able to cook meals in the kitchen area. Lovely location with ocean view. Plenty of parking. Very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows.
Cons: Nothing.
