Pros: Breakfast was excellent, fresh and delicious. The table was set beautifully and welcomed us with a perfect start to our day. our hosts were fluent in several languages and helped us to navigate the local area with maps and insightful advice.
Cons: An extra luggage rack would have been useful because the beautiful furnishings were antique and we didn't want to stress them with our heavy suitcases.

Pros: We loved our stay at Maison d’Hotes Anne Fouquet! Everything: the luxurious room, the grounds, the location, the breakfast was wonderful, but the best part was Anne. She went above and beyond to assure that we were happy, comfortable, had dinner reservations, day trip ideas and lovely conversation while she served delicious breakfasts. La Roque-Gageac is one of the most beautiful areas we’ve travelled through. So close to chateaus, great restaurants and charming towns. I highly recommend this lovely B&B!
Cons: It was all fabulous!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a total pleasure staying here. The accommodation, location (lovely views from the room and communal sitting area) and breakfast were wonderful. Our host, Anne, was most helpful and gracious and was fun to chat to in my halting French (she speaks excellent English as well). We'd certainly return.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anne was an exceptional host. And rooms very newly decorated and luxurious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An exceptional stay in an exceedingly comfortable and perfectly located haven in one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. We stayed for 5 nights and Anne went to great lengths to provide much more than we expected, or even knew that we wanted. The service she provides is comparable to having an on-call concierge at a five star hotel. I'm not exaggerating! Anne is not just friendly, she is a consummate professional in the very best sense. And of course - the view!
Cons: We wished we could have stayed longer!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. More so than anywhere we stayed on our 2 week holiday - 2 nights here was the most relaxing and enjoyable. We are already planning our next trip back
Cons: Didn’t stay long enough :( next time we stay at least 3-4 nights
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is located near the Dordogne River which is peaceful and tranquil, so in addition to it being a beautifully appointed place to spend a week exploring the villages in the Dordogne, you can also hear the happy sounds of singing and people talking as they paddle their canoes and kayaks down the river. Reg, Allison, and their amazing dog Murphy were the perfect hosts to provide breakfast each morning in our room and answer a myriad of questions that we peppered them with as we planned our daily itinerary.
Cons: We should have stayed for two weeks and skipped the coast since we went to Brittany after leaving the Dordogne region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding everything : the rooms, the country side location , the environment , the fresh country style made and generous breakfast // the owners are absolutely great // the river, the view ... the perfect country side Dordonha !

Pros: The property is gorgeous and feels secluded even though it’s not far at all from the main sights. Our room was gigantic and very beautifully styled. Breakfast was fantastic, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was incredibly spacious and modern! We weren’t ready to leave in the slightest and would love to come back one day!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts, Allison and Reg, provide an exceptional experience beginning with the beautiful accommodation, the excellent healthy, fresh and substantial breakfast, the generous replenishment of the drinks fridge at no charge to the indoor and outdoor furnishings and don’t forget the pool. The surrounding tourist sites are beyond belief. The best way to describe our stay is 12/10. Give yourself a minimum of 3 days to take in what the area has to offer. Karen and Ken.

Pros: Very friendly host who likes to have a joke with guests. Two lovely friendly dogs, a pair of geese & lots of breeding rabbits to provide interest for kids / animal lovers. The room had a blackout shutter for a properly dark bedroom
Cons: Aircon in the bedrooms would make it perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Neat and clean with modern amenities. Even if he doesn't know English ,Eric is a very kind and helpful owner. He gave us a big pack of walnuts as a souvenir. spacious room. secure private parking. GPS coordinates are accurate. Basic breakfast. Try to have your dinner before reach the hotel. Outdoor sitting area. Good air conditioner. Big lobby with full of tourist brochures.
Cons: Don't expect a lift in a B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eric our host was very welcoming, he even carried our suitcases to our room upon arrival. Our room L'Hirondelle was tastefully decorated with a lovely en-suite shower room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. Eric is a great host and takes care of all your needs. The accommodation is good in every respect. Breakfast (croissants, bread and some homemade conserves) was delicious and filling. This is a fantastic base for touring the Dordogne region. There are superb restaurants in nearby Domme and Sarlat and Cenac has everything you need for a picnic with its supermarket and boulangeries. We will be back!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I had the room with 2 bunkbeds, modern fittings ample for 4, ditto the huge ensuite with openable double glazed skylight to lose summer heat, well thought out & spacious, catches morning sun. Great waking to rural views & farm location close to local sights. Eric is an attentive helpful host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely accomodation in a rural setting but only 10-20mins from main attractions: Sarlat, Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Marqueyassac Gardens, Castleaud and numerous other chateaus. So a great base from which to explore.  Very clean, modern and bright. Beautifully presented.  Air con for hot summer nights and plenty of outdoor areas to relax.  Shower was terrific and bed very comfortable.  Sound proofed walls so very quiet.  Parking not a problem.  Breakfast was amazing and lots of it: bread, croissants, baguettes and a selection of preserves.  Eric (the host) is a lovable and friendly chap who is keen to help his visitors.  Despite our embarassing lack of French language (!) we managed to communicate with lots of hand gestures and nodding and were very appreciative of his patience with us!  We would stay here again and highly recommend La Maravela.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception. Excellent location near Domme. Quiet surroundings. Genuinely French! Nice breakfast. Good parking at property.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was about 5-10 minutes drive from Domme. 20 minutes from Sarlat
Cons: Breakfast was a bit basic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was superb. Helpful, friendly chatty . Great security with 2 dogs, 2 geese . There was even a pet wild boar to entertain us. Highly recommended.

Pros: This is a beautiful property with a great view. The swimming pool was really a plus. The best part were the hosts. Really super nice people who wanted to help. We liked them and the property so much we extended our stay with them. I highly recommend this property. Dave and Linda
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely high thread count sheets, nothing too much trouble for hosts, fabulous swimming pool , more fabulous views, even more fabulous breakfast !
Cons: Nothing ,it was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully situated, lovely view, small but heated and very comfortable pool. Comfortable beds and all amenities of high quality. Great helpful and hospitable hosts; nice places around to visit, the beautiful village of Roque-Gageac at walking distance - which has the fantastic restaurant La Belle Etoile
Cons: You could say that our room was of modest size - but enough for two adults and we did not spend much time there anyway
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything about it. Beautiful room. Beautiful view. Lovely staff.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room though not huge was tastefully furnished with a beautiful on suite bathroom. The grounds were beautifully laid out with a good selection of shrubs. The swimming pool, together with the chairs and parasols made relaxation so easy. Especially with only 3 rooms you have a very good chance of having the area to yourself. Our hosts Frederick and Laurence could not do enough for you. They are kind and considerate and made us very welcome. They helped us with booking restaurants and attractions.
Cons: But there are a few things I feel I must mention to give my review credibility. I have lung cancer and although I can walk up a flight of stairs, I had problem walking up the very steep slope (roughly 7.2 incline) to the property. I drove up it once but the rancid smell of the clutch burning out stopped me from doing it again. In fairness Frederick offered to run me up or down whenever we needed but we felt uncomfortable about asking him all the time. In all honesty this place is not suitable for those who are disabled or have trouble walking. Staying for 14 days we found the breakfast to be repetitive and boring
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is lovely with a grand view, beautifully restored stone home, but with remodeled modern bathrooms, great WiFi connection, lovely warm pool, exercise equipment, and lovely forested backdrop. The owners, Frederick and Lawrence, are thoughtful, charming, and helpful with local knowledge of sights and restaurants. The breakfast is excellent, with fresh fruit, homemade yoghurt, fresh breads and juices, and homemade jams.
Cons: Nothing. I would love to come here again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Owners amazing and very accommodating. Went above and beyond
Cons: Very difficult to drive up to property. Requires backing up a hill to get proper angle to make the turn
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view, 10mins walk from the town, very serene
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Feels like a B&B with warmth of hosts. Location up the hill from the Main Street of town providing lovely views. Great breakfast.
Cons: We stayed in the first floor room which has been very nicely decorated and organised. The room is small with low ceiling which may impact taller guests.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice views. Friendly host spoke enough English to help us with suggestions. Beautiful little village nearby. Good location for exploring the area. Friendly local bread, fruit, yogurt breakfast in cool old farmhouse.
Cons: The clear shower in the bedroom would have been better if we were not fat in our fifties. The drive approach is tight and a bit precarious. We dinged the rental car backing down the narrow switchback- my fault, but it would be much more difficult on a rainy night . If you don’t want to drive up to the house, there is parking down the hill with a fairly steep climb up.
Les Chambres d'Harmonie - Cénac-et-Saint-Julien - Building

9.1 Excellent (216 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming host and husband, accommodated a late check in without issue
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, the very comfortable bed, the wonderful family who hosted our stay, the delicious breakfast, and how charming our room was.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location near many attractions. Spacious room with very good en suite. Excellent owners went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Good and variable breakfasts.
Cons: Bed was just about ok but not great. Floors creaky.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really well located, calm place, very nice house, the owner is very available, and all was very clean.
Cons: The room has no A/C, which in hot nights as the one i was in the hotel, may become difficult (there’s a fan)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, great breakfast and spotlessly clean
Cons: Late arrivals were noisy
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the country charm of our room and balcony. Absolutely delightful! The owners were so welcoming, gracious and helpful. We would highly recommend this Chambre d’ Hote! A special memory of our journey on France
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money, comfortable room, good location and a lovely breakfast. Francoise was such a kind and helpful host; she gave us lots of ideas and advice of good places to visit in the local area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideal home for visiting all the different parts of Dordogne if you have a car. 1. There is free parking right next to the property (whereas parking spots appear to be harder to find in busier cities eg Beynac/Sarlat) 2. It’s easy to come in and out of the cute little town (I imagine it would get a bit tiring if you always had to deal with traffic coming in and out of busier towns every day) 3. The breakfast is a great start to the day, the owners are incredibly attentive and offer great advice and restaurant recommendations 4. They have the cutest pets 5. There were other guests but we never heard anything through the walls - good soundproofing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the studio downstairs. It was as described and was well fitted out with a kitchenette in the room. Breakfast was very good and our host was helpful and accommodating. Cenac is a great base for exploring the area.
Cons: There is a little private area to sit in outside the studio - the only downside is that you have the noise from the main road going through the village. Not a problem if you're out and about!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent two nights very comfortably, and our two children especially enjoyed the chance to meet the puppies. The host Françoise has good English and was gracious about our late arrival. Excellent breakfast w some homemade jam..

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and impressive garden and pool. The dinner was very pleasant (and sociable with other guests from various countries) as was breakfast. Our host was charming and helpful.
Cons: The gite we occupied is a little tired in its fixtures and fittings (especially the bed).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was so beautiful and comfortable. The swimming pool was refreshing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We rented a gite at this site. There were some excellent features - especially the swimming pool and the ability to eat outside beside the barbecue. The owner was friendly and helpful.
Cons: There were two main problems. First, because the rooms of the gite are on several different levels there were many stairs connecting them. This made life difficult for my wife, who is blind. Had this been made clear in the description of the gite we would not have booked it. The second problem was just that the cooker in the kitchen did not work well - we could only cook on one ring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great country location in a beautiful area
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pool and surrounding areas were beautiful. Plus an amazing breakfast!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and the 4 beds for the family room very comfy. There's no air con but a fan was provided as well as cold bottles of water when we arrived which was a nice touch as it was very hot. We didn't get to try the breakfast as we were meeting up with friends. The staff was nice & welcoming.
Cons: The water for the shower kept jumping from hot to cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful owners and staff made for a fantastic one night stay Delightful newly refurbished bedrooms and make sure to book dinner in the restaurant where the talented chefs produce delicious value for money meals
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners of the hotel and staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We ate in the attached restaurant on our second evening and, in truth, wish we had done so on our first night rather than eating in nearby Domme. The restaurant was good value and had a fun/buzzy atmosphere. Although the room was basic, it had everything we needed and, above all, it was spotlessly clean.
Cons: Were disturbed at 6.30 am. by the food delivery lorry parking and unloading beneath our window, but it wasn't a major problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great staff- excellent food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is quality. Great food, great service and value for money.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the room large, the shower excellent. Portable fan managed the heat excellently. Also liked that they were okay with me dropping bags earlier although when I arrived to do so, was told the room was ready, which was perfect.
Cons: The check-in time (6pm) although my room was ready early. The blistering heat meant shutters had to stay closed so room was dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect -- especially the details, for example we were offered bottles of water when we checked in (it was a very hot day!) Staff were particularly friendly and helpful all along our stay.
Cons: Nothing -- it could not not have been better! In fact, the value for money is amazing, both in the hotel and restaurant, and in all honesty, we could have paid more for the rooms and the delicious dinner!
6.8 Good
Pros: Food was excellent.
Cons: It was annoying that we had to wait until 1800 to get access to our room in 35 deg heat. Room was small. But it was cheap and where we wanted to be for the night
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is superb and very popular in the village so recommend booking in advance. Cooked by proprietor Fabien who speaks perfect English and was very helpful, driving us back to Sarlat Domme airfield next morning.
Cons: Room was basic but adequate for the budget.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A pleasant surprise in terms of value for money, very clean, efficiently welcomed. The restaurant offers extremely good food and is understandably very popular with locals so we felt lucky to secure a table at short notice.
Cons: Probably unfair but the 6pm check in is exactly that. We arrived a little earlier and it was locked up.
L'Esplanade - Domme - Building
9
8.5 Excellent (295 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Domme, L'Esplanade is within a 10-minute drive of Gardens of Marqueyssac and Chateau de Marqueyssac.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view was out of this world - so be sure to book panoramic view as only a few rooms have it. Fine dining and good wine list
7.5 Good
Pros: Service and food were great!
8.5 Excellent
Pros: A very traditional family-run hotel in one of the glorious spots on the Dordogne. Nice rooms, adequate staff, the menu sticks to the now very overdone Perigordian recipe thing, which has blighted so much imagination in kitchens of the region, and the restaurant itself is not well laid out which makes its posh pretention a bit irritating. It is however very much a memorable experience overall and if I'm in that way I may well stay, if not eat there again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: View from room and dinner terrace
Cons: Dinner menu sounded great, but when it arrived, food was very bland and lacked any form of spiciness or herby flavour.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is the best location in Domme, for rooms river valley side.
Cons: For the room you get it is a bit too pricey.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food (evening meals) were outstanding. We had chosen the hotel because of the panorama from its exceptional location. The view from the terrace and our bedroom was indeed stupendous. We were superbly well looked after by the staff there.
Cons: Our room was small - although there may have been larger ones available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: spectacular location overlooking the valley of the Dordogne, fabulous views from the terrace and my room, great food and wine, easy parking
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Just wish there was a coffee machine in room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: L'Esplanade is a very charming and comfortable hotel. The cuisine is excellent - be sure to dine. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very good. Dinner was average but slow. Locationexcellent and have stayed in this hotel before on several occasions.
Cons: Service at Dinner was slow

Cons: Needing to book the restaurant before arrival.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very comfortable with super showers.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good clean large room in an old well maintained hotel with good size swimming pool, restaurant, bar and easy access to lots of sights to enjoy and things to do like rowng a boat or canoeing, boat trips etc. Good restaurant, though offer of the chef (fried duck --pricey and not so original----no sign of good cuisine. Will go back.
Cons: Plat du jour from chef's recommendation. Excellent welcome.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very good restaurant, newly decorated rooms are OK but basic. The pool and garden is great. Good shaded car parking. Petrol station just down the road. Reachable in one day from the UK.
Cons: Located on a busy road which isn’t great when relaxing by the pool
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Private parking and centrally located. Very quiet at night. Light and cheery nearly done over room full breakfast buffet with many choices. They also spoke English
Cons: Our bedroom did not have Wi-Fi The proprietors wife was gracious and hospitable but her husband less so
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good position to explore the Dordogne area.
Cons: Rooms basic but adequate but only 3 with balconys despite description and all on road side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The multi lingual hosts were very welcoming, the room was comfortable and quiet, we ate dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal complemented by local wine. A perfect hotel for our needs.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hosts: ***** 5 stars to Patrick and his wife for their hospitality and local information. Location: ***** 5 stars, this is a perfect location to explore the region. Restaurant:***** 5 Stars, we only dined-in one evening, but the food was excellent. Room: **** 4 Stars, nice view form the rear of the hotel.
Cons: Everything met our expectations.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room was nice. Clean, airco, nice shower, good bed. The servants were really nice and helpfull and happy. The pool was nice. And we felt really compfortble. We had a very nice stay. The location is also perfect.
Cons: I like to have tea or coffie supplies in the room. And a minibar is more pleasant.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Trying to escape the unbearable heat of Bordeaux we wanted to spend the weekend in the Dordogne. I was impressed I was able to get a room for a good price in such short notice, and in such a nice hotel. The rooms are big and extremely comfy. The double bed is more like a king size than a double which is perfect. They left extra pillows and covers in case we needed them. They also offer you special towels for the pool, so you don't have to use the ones in the room in case you don't bring any extra ones. The air conditioner was such a plus! we had 2 amazing nights. The pool is absolutely beautiful and clean, and there is a large plot of land to walk your dog in case you come with it (yeap the hotel is dog friendly). I would say if you are looking for a place were to spend a weekend, or even a bit longer this is by far the perfect place. There is a small town very close where you can buy food or have a meal in case you don't want to eat in the restaurant. The river is pretty much at 200 mts from the hotel. Pros: Location is great and owner very friendly
Cons: En-suite needs updating
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We arrived slightly later than expected and found a note on the door for us directing us to our room however the patron was also there and checked us in. Cash on arrival. The parking as mentioned by some other reviewers was on street and this was achieved without problem. The room we were allocated was a good size and had character with the exposed pointed stone work slightly let down by the flock wall paper on other walls. The furniture was adequate although mismatched and the bed was more comfortable than it initially looked. the room and bedding were clean and the shower room was clean although basic and tired and had an adequate supply of toiletries and towels. Three beds in the room three sets of toiletries. The hotel is well positioned on the corner of the square containing the tourist information and several local produce shops. Good value accommodation and basic breakfast. Would I recommend Domme, yes. Would I recommend this hotel, yes although don't expect French Boutique.
Cons: The corners of the entrance to the accommodation was covered with bird droppings from the house martins nesting there. You had to climb 2 small flights of stairs in the dark before coming to a light switch. The shower room in our room was very tired (the grey tiles didn't help). However none of these things detracted from our stay.

Pros: Adequate for 1 night
Cons: Updating shower area needed
7.5 Good
Pros: Great value. No frills, but great value. Convenient breakfast downstairs in the morning if you get there soon enough. Domme doesn’t have much in the way of breakfast cafes but this is one of the only ones with simple coffee, juice, and bread. We booked here to reserve the rooms but had to pay in cash once we arrived.
Cons: Some mold in the bathroom - showers are sub-par but not bad for the price!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, price,
Cons: Parking, reception shut when we arrived.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Full of character. It was excellent value for money, located in the main square in the beautiful Dordogne village. The bathroom may need updating but it was spotlessly clean and for the price we couldn’t fault it. Lovely period furniture and comfy bedding. We had an excellent night’s sleep.
Cons: Nothing. This was great value and an excellent stop-over for us.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, in a historic village. The price of the accommodation is good, as it is in an old building, my wife sais she had slept well for the 2 days we stayed, and this is very important for me for the accommodation. Security ios there, bathroom clean, etc.
Cons: The breakfast is somewhat disappointing, for 7 euro each, we had a cup of coffee, one croissant and a piece of bread, and one glass or orange juice. For 2 nights and 2 persons, this was 28 euro. Knowing there is a local supermarket nearbye…..This could not be right
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice staff and good location.
Cons: Out dated.
7.5 Good
Pros: best location if visiting domm. the bathroom is very small, no shampoo. small and intimate place.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very cheap for the neighbourhood and awesomely located.
Cons: Well, basically for the check-in, the key is left unattended on the door. That's ok though. And for the check-out, you NEED to wait for the owner to arrive at 9 am. He was there at 9:10 and that's when the breakfast starts in a gloomy bar. And you learn that it is not inclusive in the night price and it is 7€ extra. Well, i recommend to decline the breakfast and have one in one of the numerous bar nearby with a fantastic panoramic view.
