8.3 Excellent
Pros: This Estancia is literally "in the middle of nowhere". The closest town is about 2 hs. away. The place is beautiful and very close to Punta Tombo (where the penguins are). It is family owned and operated. We payed the owner for a tour of the property. It was magnificent!!! First he took us in his pick up truck to see the shearing of the sheep. Then, we drove about 20 minutes to a deserted beach, where we got very close to the sea elephants. He shared with us pastafrola cake and mate. It was truly an outstanding experience!!!!
Cons: Be careful with the food. They offer you coffee and meals, but there's no menu or prices posted anywhere. We were charged city prices for very meager and improvised meals. ASK ahead of time!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Guido the owner of the ranch was very hospitable. Took us to the ranch’s private beach to see the Sea Elephants
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location to Tombo was the best and worth a little extra cost of the lodging. Also the dinner was very nice. The owner and staff are very nice and helpful. They have 6 adorable puppies. It is an historical Estancia and that is cool. Stargazing is great if the moon cooperates. Sitting on the porch was relaxing after a day of driving.
Cons: There is no internet, but it is coming in a month or so per the owner. The electricity is by solar. There are no refrigerators as booking . com stated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Being able to unplug. Elephant seals.
6.3 Good
Pros: Near by punta tomba
Cons: To expensive for Argentinia. Everthing is charged separat. Seeelefant tour USD 35.-. Dinner cost also separat. You have no idea what you get for your money as you book the dinner in advance.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the excursions to see the elephant seals and the penguins. I really appreciated how much the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic time.
Cons: There was no electricity during our stay. The pricing of individual meals, transfers, excursions, etc was unclear until the bill at the end of our stay. Credit card facilities would be very helpful.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The location is fabulous. It is very close to the gravel road that goes to Punta Tombo, where there is a large penguin colony. If you stay in the hotel, you can leave in the morning and miss all of the tourists who come from Puerto Madryn and Trelew, and arrive much later. The landscape surrounding the hotel is sparse, rugged and stunning.
Cons: This hotel is totally off the grid. There is no land line phone, and no wifi . The phone number that is listed for the hotel is the owner's own satellite phone, but he was not there when we were there. (He lives in Puerto Madryn two hours away, and that weekend he was not at the hotel, so there was no phone at the hotel. That means that if there is an emergency, there is no way you can get help. Or, if somebody from your home or work needs to get in contact with you, it is impossible. I think, for safety reasons, the owner should install a satellite phone at the hotel to be there permanently to be used in case of emergencies. The hotel uses solar energy for electricity. You cannot use a hair dryer as it uses too much electricity. We came on a cloudy day, so there was not enough hot water to take a shower. The sink in the bathroom does not have hot running water, only cold. If you need hot water to shave, better go without. The menu was extremely limited for dinner and breakfast. With a little bit more investment, this place could be welcoming, as it is, it is very overpriced.
