The room was very clean and tidy. The staff were very welcoming and always there to help. The was a large choice for breakfasts and very good portions.Altogether a welcome stay. The 24hr room service at the weekend has room for improvement.Although they guarantee small snacks they varied with the staff that were on shift. The sandwiches one night were very good. The next night they were very poor. This was about the only problems we encountered.
Very helpfull and friendly staff ideal location for our visit to family and friends 2nd visit this year. more expensive on second visit breakfast not included.
It had a sense of class about it.
The fact that the room was booked with the breakfast included was brilliant as the price of the breakfast on top of the room would have been very expensive
Staff were nice, nothing too much trouble. Drinks were a bit expensive
Everything was good
First time I've been inside the Old Palace Lodge despite growing-up in the town; not disappointed - lovely hotel and a very plush room. A nice treat for my 40th birthday weekend! Bit of noise from other guests in the early hours, but not enough to spoil our stay.
Pleasant staff and old world character of the building. Lack of service for residents due to functions being held at the hotel
Courteous staff, evening meral in the Hotel was excellent, overall , enjoyed my stay and will return Room layout was a bit confusing, but this has to do with the building layout
Cosy bar/lobby area where you can eat as well. In general this is a nice hotel. Its looks a bit old but that because it is and part of the charm. The rooms are good though and the hotel has a relaxed pleasant overall atmosphere. The room price is really out of range for this kind of hotel. Its nice but in the rest of europe it would classify as a mid range hotel (not more then 100 euro a night).
The food was ok in the pub next door Rooms run down and need refurb, need new tv's
The location was good for Dunstable and the surrounding area, security cameras gave confidence that the car parking facilities were safe. The hotel fire escape doors at the rear of the building were often left open, this did not give confidence that access to the rooms was restricted to guests only, poor security.
Price, cleanliness of room and quality of breakfast served Receptionist stood outside the hotel smoking! Only 4 channels available on tv
Standard of room for price paid, ease of parking and access. Simple booking in procedures and also check out. Standard of catering at breakfast and dinner was not as good as when I stayed before.Prefer buffet breakfast although service staff were very giood
Receptionist was really helpfull, organisied taxi for early in the morning and iron & iron board so that I could press my clothes Bar stuff unhelpfull- arrived at 9,02pm but while they had food on Display I was told the kitchen was closed. Best offer was to ring a "take-away"!!!!!!!!!!
Close proximity to meeting the next day. Arrived too late to have dinner, not offered any other food as substitute. Had 1/2" thick pillow & told no other additional pillows available. Room so small it was like sleeping in a cupboard. Breakfast cooked all at once so fried eggs looked as if kept warm for the previous 2 hours - asked for a fresh egg to be cooked but told that was not possible. My stay was altogether a bad experience.
the food on offer in the restuarant was excellent. especially the carvery everyday
Upon arrival, the hotel had not booked the correct number of rooms for my party. They admitted this was due to an internal administrative error (not related to www.booking.com). After a 10 minute wait in reception they managed to find a spare room which we could utilise. However, just after midnight, a woman let herself into this room where one of my party was asleep in bed insisting it was her room. My friend attempted to call reception to try and sort the matter out but there was no response. When this matter was raised with reception the following morning, no explanation was offered and we received no apology.
Friendly and helpful staff
The rooms are very nice, clean, facilities good. Bright and airy, plenty of parking. No problems what so ever!!!! Breakfast could be worked on....slightly unorganised...but ok.
nice having a bar, free breakfrast buffet, coffee and tea started at 430am. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Convenience. Restaurant good for what it does. Order off the specials board. Very well sound-proofed.
Location location location Nothing bad
Hotel is very near to airport and i was satying to pick up some friend of mine and it became very easy for me .
Ran out of things at breakfast time
closeness to airport, clean, efficient room no warning that there would be a charge for parking the car overnight check in staff short on charm!
Excellent location close to airport. Very quiet and comfortable room with good shower. Complimentary breakfast was fine with good quality ingredients .On a freezing cold weekend, the hotel was very warm and cosy. Whilst dinner was of acceptable quality, the menu was perhaps overpriced because of the captive market. I do resent paying £5.90 for a glass of not very good wine.
Excellent location by the airport, nice and professional personnel, professional services, clean
the attention given by check-in staff and the comfort of the rooms, good food none
Staff were Awesome, polite, extremely helpful and very friendly. Couldn't have asked for more! Rooms are excellent for the value and purpose of short breaks - comfortable, very clean and have all necessary amenties
We would like to congratulate all the staff, including those in the 'Horse & Jockey' pub next to the hotel. They were very friendly and the hotel including breakfast and lunch were excellent - we would like to thank them and will be booking this hotel again as we have family close by. Thank you.
Very easy to find & very friendly staff
The hotel was close to where my appointment was.
The breakfast was a 10/10 night staff on reception left us waiting for entry into the hotel, until he had finished a phone call. Barman ignored us when we tried to order food and drinks and served a customer who had obviously been in the bar all night giving tips to the staff! Night staff were very poor to say the least!
Location, excellent breakfast buffet, good food in evening offerings Unable to call internationally and night staff had no clue about solving situation.
Location for airport. Good bar and restaurant area unusual for an Ibis. Usual Ibis cleanliness.. Watch out for the pricing policy. The published rate is a fiction. Always book in advance to fix the rate.
No obvious directions from the airport terminal to Ibis Hotel for guests not arriving by car. There is a regular bus service (stop en route to Parkway) but it isn't well promoted.
Nothing The room was very small The shower was very small Nothing was good about this place
We arrived late and the staff were welcoming, friendly and gave an excellent service. Location very good. 24-hour bar a great asset. Room was much too small, very clostrophobic. We stayed in room nbr 106 (ground floor), window faced the car park and we had no privacy - only if the curtains were drawn. Curtains were damaged and did not close properly. Price of gbp 79 far too high for these standards.
the bed was really comfortable none
The location from the airport, very convienient. Ideal for a business person or a family looking for a one night stay. Staff very friendly and efficient There are no complaints
Friendly staff at the reception. Within 10 minutes' walk from the Luton airport. We sat at the hotel restaurant table for 20 minutes without even being noticed by the staff. And oh yes, we tried everything except shouting. They just walked on by, so we left to dine elsewhere. The Internet tv image resolution was lousy and the tv channels did not show properly (antenna or cable defect?)
Restaurant staff seem to be bothered by our presence and not too will to see if we required service at all or not
perfect location for very early flight next morning
It's less than 15 minutes walk to Luton Airport The bed in the first room they gave me apparently hadn't been changed from the last occupant since it contained several long black hairs. I asked for a different room and was given one, but this changeover ate into the five hours sleep I was already limited to and should not have been necessary.
Room was comfortable, cosy and very clean. Lobby/bar area was cold, was freezing outside but maybe heating could've been turned up.
Lovely new and clean hotel, friendly porofessional staff and a very comfortable night. The restuarant is large and rather lacks atmosphere. £9.50 extra per person for breakfast a bit expensive so we gave it a miss.
Clean. New. No bar facilities in room. No bar late for customers. Cold reception. Staff foregin and not very warm on arrival. Food awful
chack in took too long
the cleanliness of the room and facilities in general was quite impressive the shower was faulty in my room, sort it out guys! it's an unnecessary blip on your otherwise unblemished record
Very nice room with upmarket fittings. Paper thin walls between rooms. You could hear everything going on. Very poor breakfast that doesn't do justice to the Hilton brand. Surprisingly the breakfast was no better in quality over a premier Inn. Premier Inn comes out on top in terms of quietness. Their doors don't slam.
Lovely room, excellent value for money
Hotel staff very friendly, room very clean and comfortable
so the bed was very comfortable as was the room in general the view from the room wasn't fantastic but thats a stretch to find something wrong to say
Nicely decorated reception area and room. The location isn't great for central Luton.
For the £65 I paid I wasn't expecting one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I include in this list some prestigious 4 and 5 star hotels and lodges. The room was large, well appointed, the bed supremely comfortable, the shower large and like standing under Niagara Falls and the free internet access and widescreen tv were an added bonus. We stayed in the hotel for dinner and were very impressed with the quality and value. Breakfast at £9.95 was also excellent. I cannot fault any aspect of this place and would highly recommend it to anyone. Let's hope that once the smell of fresh paint subsides the staff are equally enthusiastic.
the perfect comfort of beds, the cleanliness of the room and bath, the restaurant and its prices No bus to and from the Luton airport. Distance to Luton Airport; although on websites it says the hotel is pretty close to the airport, actually it is not that close.
- Pet friendly - Beautiful building with beautiful rooms and beautiful gardens - The kitchen is just regular - We had to queue for the breakfast because the room is too small - We had to reserve even for the 5 o clock tea hours in advance
i booked for my 21st wedding anniversary as a surprise for my wife. The entire weekend was absolutely brilliant, outstanding historic building, great facilities, wonderful staff, fab food, we enjoyed the spa too. We will recommend to freinds and return without doubt. no
The buildings and grounds are superb, the spa is very good but most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Anthony at concierge.
Luton Hoo is a superb hotel The staff are excellent and very professional the buildings impressive and the dining rooms spectacular .. we did not play golf but we did think the course looked very boring ...the spa was wonderful and the rooms very comfortable and extremely spacious We had a room in the coach house [ an ungrade not asked for but offered ! ] It was above the pro shop of the golf course and very noisy [ beware ]
For a stately home it had a homely atmosphere.
The restaurant in the hotel, The Wernher, was superb. The food was totally excellent. Worth every penny! The service was very good too. The hotel itself is beautiful , inside and outside. The grounds are lovely. When i booked, i was given the impression that the room would have views of the grounds,as that was part of the room description. But we were given a room that was far away from the grounds and below the ground floor. But the room itself was gorgeous.
Every aspect was ideal for the peaceful, luxurious and celebratory stay for which we were looking. The management of the restaurant seemed to leave something to be desired. Whilst the staff were pleasant, helpful and courteous, many of them appeared to be wandering around aimlessly as if they did not know what they were supposed to be doing. Further, there must surely be something to be said for guests to be allocated tables for the duration of their stay, rather that allocated haphazardly at each meal.
The hotel itself is grand and beautiful with lots of character. The staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable and the food was delicious. We loved pre dinner drinks and the atmosphere in the lounge with the fire burning. The swimming pool and sauna and steam room were great. The jacuzzi had the most powerful jets and we thoroughly enjoyed being the only guests that afternoon as they only just opened the pool. The walk around the hotel is lovely with the secret garden making it more attractive.
There was insufficient lighting in the bathroom and bedroom to make up. Please please allow pets!
Hotel was Luxurious, Staff friendly and Spa facility amazing, would Highly recommend. No, all good
Please write at least 15 words
The breakfast was OK Very Noisy, road traffic, trains, banging doors from the bar below. Restaraunt not open for dinner due to refurbishment, which it badly needs.
As commented. Bad description of location
The hotel was clean and central to Luton. We used it purely for "a bed for the night" before going to the airport in the morning. The rooms were simple but had all we needed, bed, shower and TV. The hotel is noisy, both through loud music in the bar and the traffic outside (only single glazed windows I think!). However you do get what you pay for and what can you really expect for £40l! If you want a luxury hotel don't stay here, but if you looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel then this is as good as any.
Good breakfast, room clean but lacking in maintenance - see below. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in - the base had plywood screwed to it for support, the matress should have been skipped years ago. Shower/toilet floor tiles loose and cracked. tv picture very poor.
The staff was very kind, and helpful! The rooms were comfortable. During our stay the hotl was under reconstruction, the workers were a little noisy. The breakfast serving was clumsy.
The room was clean and spacious with tea & Coffee facilities. Normal check- out time is 11 A.M. but they allowed us in our room until 12.15 (reluctantly) and provided storage for our cases until we departed for the airport in the evening. There was loud noise from the Bar on Saturday Night but Sunday Night was fine. Last breakfast is served at 9.00 am., which is a little early for people on a leisure break. My sister asked reception if she could buy some milk (we had run out in the room) and was told to go up town, they could not give her any. Perhaps they didn't have any.
Clean sheets and comfortable bed. Pleasant and friendly check-in person. Asked for quiet room but were given one on main road and next to a noisy couple despite the hotel not seeming to be occupied by many guests on the night. Difficult to find hotel due to no name on the building. Dirty carpets in room. Electronic safe advertised but not in working order. Walls very thin, could hear every noise from next room, and I mean every noise! Wake up early call requested but not received. Stains on room ceiling. Noisy late music from downstairs bar until late. Pictures of hotel on internet very misleading. They flattered the actual condition of the hotel.
There was adequate parking next to the hotel. The room was ready on arrival. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice room. Breakfast was good. Our room was directly above the bar and on the night of our stay there was a DJ and disco. The noise was loud and the base made the floor vibrate, however, although it did not prevent us from sleeping because we were really tired I feel that other guests would find this a problem.
Staff were helpful - if somewhat disorganised. The location of the hotel (between the railway line and a main road) made it extremely noisy. The rooms and corridors were smelly. The hotel seemed to be in the midst of refurbishing some function rooms - the bedrooms also badly need to be updated, decorated and recarpeted.
Really big room, bath in the bathroom, not a shower as you usually get. close to the airport, you can get a taxi for 5 pounds. Noisy at night not because of the train or planes but because of other customers coming back late at night at taking showers at 1-2am, extreamly noisy plumming
Clean, friendly staff, basic but all that was required was there, good value for money Bathroom light didn't work, orange walls, small, small bed, only one pillow each.
Checking in speed very good, location very close to restaurants and train station. I think the rooms need a shelf or small table, and the air conditioning when its sub zero outside should be turned off.
Ther was no smokin in the rooms that was the only down fall. I think there should be smoking rooms available and also I asked for a room with window and the windows didnt open got vry warm in the room.
Welcoming staff.Cooperative and eager to help.Clean environment. No wardrobe and no bedside table or desk for using stationery. No tea making facility in room.
funny because it seemed to be at legoland a small room with no desk and a tub as big as that of a plane easyjet. do not walk near the airport. luton town is a terrible, if you can fly to Gatwick or Heathrow
Staff was excellent, and her assistance: hiring taxi, quick process for check-in. I also liker having drinks and snacks in the lobby. It took me a long time to figure out how to set the alarm clock, and even so I couldn't set at the time I wanted. No soap/shower gel in bathroom (it was over)
it was crap couldn't adjust heating, couldn't breathe.
For one night stay it was good, very clean
Price The sheets in the bed appeared not to have been changed. I slept on top of the comforter.
Found the place 2 b spotless and the 2 staff members on desk the 2 guys were very helpful and polite and know how 2 do there jobs. Justb when booking on line the money taken out off card straight away prefer just 2 book with card and pay on arrival because my card is in euros and occured some stupid charges on exchange rates and so on.
the service was brilliant
Very quiet room, which was what I asked for! Very nice meal at the bar and lovely breakfast Nothing really
facilities found the staff rude and unfriendly
Very friendly and pleasant staff, relaxing bar area, rooms great Bar meals menu not great, but restaurant fine. A little noise at times from planes passing over.
Excellent value. Used as a stop over for an early flight from Luton airport. Good location. Only about 12 minutes from airport. Price included use of health club which we did not use but gives added value.
Poor to Average hotel Reservation details that were sent to the hotel were incorrect, wrong rate. Hotel staff knowledge of facilities was poor.
Very good value for the price paid. Clean, spacious room with good facilities. Comfortable bed and even a choice of pillows. Helpful, friendly staff at reception. Hotel is in a convenient location for Luton Airport which was ideal for us, because my girlfriend was here just for the weekend from France. Also convenient for for Whipsnade Zoo, which is only 10 miles away.
Value for money and easy to get to. Well located for Luton airport. Friendly, polite staff. All seemed very reasonable. Walls very thin though!
A nice clean bed between working hours! No
Very nice, comfortable hotel. Being slightly hard of hearing, the TV sound was not loud enough and not anyone available to adjust it. This seems to be general in Holiday Inns therefore this would make me reluctant to book Holiday Inns again.
Friendly staff, clean room, everything as it should be Cold room, acsses bad with luggage, no smocking
The bar. Room wasn't clean. Breakfast consusted of cornflakes in the room and UHT milk. Mattress was uncomfortable. Walls paper thin, kept awake by snoring and phone calls next door.
Staff were very nice Shower was faulty and to small so flooded the bathroom
Value for money evening meal. Cheap. Blocked shower with 'gunge' coming up from the waste pipe. Blocked toilet. Bad smell. ONe light fitting removed and bare wires hanging down. Basic breakfast served in room with no tables or trays to eat from - had to perch on end of bed.
Staff were lovely, very friendly . Rooms clean Rooms too small - bedding - old lumpy duvet needs replacing Bathroom - tiny - shower head broken
Absolutely nothing The room was dirty and tiny the bed was very uncomfortable if this was the last hotel on earth I would go camping without a tent in november.this hotel is the worst I have stayed in avoid it like the plague.
I would just like to thank you for the hospitality shown to me and my colleagues on our stay at yuor hotel last week, I would definitely recommend you too any persons who are asking for a top class hotel within the luton area, all meals were of an above average and really enjoyed by all and accommodation is of a high standered, No bad experiences
Proximiy to Luton airport. The room was far too cramped to fit 3 adults. They had run out of food to give the same sized continental breakfast for each guest.
we had free food as the meal took so long to cook. The food was tasty.the landlord was kind enough to collect us when we could not find the location. The barmaid/waitress was friendly The bed was terrible we could feel the springs through the sheets. I could hear the man next door snoring. The room has no way to get fresh into it.I know you get what you pay for but this was not good place to get a restful night before an early flight, I was exhausted the next day.
Excellent atmosphere :) Very quiet. Overall, excellent price for a quaint pub in Luton! Mattress was a little springy..:)
Staff, food bed creaked although new. manager was going to fix this.
Had to cancel due to a medical emergency, and the staff was very kind and efficient. I would recommend the hotel to others.
The location, beside the main railway line, a busy main road and on route to the hospital.very noisy room did not have air conditioning despite hotel being advertised with it, tried to sleep with windows open, bad mistake, too noisy. Room where we had breakfast not air conditioned either. Very uncomfortable stay
Intimate atmosphere. The stairs! The carpark!
Good breakfast and very clean rooms. No staff at reception on arrival - had to call main number for attention. Tiny bathroom.
The room was nice and the bed very comfortable, the breakfast very good. It was a good idea to stop here for one night after arriving at Luton airport late in the evening and the day after taking the train to London. No complains.
I found it a very comfortable hotel all the staff were very helpfull and the overall standard was excellent. I think the decor in the Main Lounge was a little bit dated. Could do with a renovation
Restaurant food was excellent Requested twin beds and ended up with a double
Room is spacious and bed is comfortable Stairway and hallway are too narrow to walk through with luggages
The bed was crap, and licking shower. Verry big noise from house keeping staf during day
Bery fast check in /checknout, very friendly, nice rooms but not big
Staff very polite and helpful. Noting special to mention concerning the hotel. The room is very small. Definitely not a four star hotel!
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Very stylish & comfortable Location. Very limited of on-site parking. Bedroom too small. Breakfast service very slow - frustrating for business users.
It is a smart, new & well furnished hotel. The tv only had one channel & it was over 24hours before this was corrected. Also, and more seriously, because of alledged wiring problems the lights in the bathroom did not go out unless the "power card" was removed from the wall. This than meant all power to the room was switched off, including the air conditioning. I also advised reception on check out that this fault, which I understand is also in other rooms, could be a fire risk. Not good! There were also problems at breakfast with regards to quantity & quality of food as well as service.
Good service, clean rooms
good but too small room.there was no place to turn around in the room.the drininking water was charged 2.50 pounds a 350 or 500 ML bottle. this is the most expensive water I ever had in my life. there was no place to keep your clothes and no writing table. it was not worth for 123 pounds a night. one night stay it is ok but 4 or 5 night stay it is not a place recomended. The front office staff was extremly very good and they make you feel at home. the English breakfast was excellant. my best wishes to front office staff Virginia and Michel.
Nice interior, good atmosphere the room was a bit cold, but that might be due to the start of winter and heating not yet adapted to the colder temperature?
we arrived after midnight staff was very helpful and nice. the room was small but very cozy shower door didnt close properly which caused flood in the bathroom, but because of late hour didnt complain
The staff were friendly, the room was nice and there were some nice touches. When ordering dinner my starter failed to arrive with everone elses I was then informed that they had run out ! by the time I was told my party had finished theirs. When trying to order wine everything I chose was not available. One of my reasons for picking this hotel was to look at its suitability for hosting future conferences which I organise on a regular basis. Based on my experience I don't feel at present that I would be able to recommend that we use the hotel.
