hotel restaurant has very limited selection of meals ala card, breakfast was less than average
The food was great and it was across the street from the Kloster Ettal - a monestary that brews some very fine beer.
Location, food, comfortable spacious bedroom, tastefully decorated throughout, easy parking. No direct access from reception to restaurant. No English translation of hotel information in folder in bedroom.
Swimming pool, sauna and the restaurant I was told, prior to making my reservation, that the hotel took the VAT forms (tax forms), at check out they did not (cost me an extra 45 euros). Makes hotel guest an unhappy camper.
The town was lovely and the Church was spectacular. The hotel was in the middle of reservations and the receptionist directed us to our rooms as if there was access through these as normal. There wasn't. and when we got back to reception, there was no-one there. We wandered around for about 10 minuets until we met some workmen and they took pity on us. It was a trek into the next county to get to our room. This hotel is more like a nunnery or monastery than a hotel. Unable to use the Spa as it was closed. The breakfaast was sparse in the morning.
The beautiful scenery. Using a key for locking/unlocking the room from the inside!. This is a safety issue. No one should ever have to use a key to get out of a room!
I stayed at the hotel last month, no issues using the VAT (19% tax savings form for the US Military). This time, the accountant wasn't there and the front desk staffed did not have a clue. Will have to drive to the local VAT office in Stuttgart and have them work the issue. As nice as the hotel was, and it was nice, made for a poor ending.
sauna and swimming pool are great The furniture in the holiday apartment was very old and/or very cheap. It was close to a parking place - too much noise.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
All excellent, to include the food and the value.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. They accommodated all our needs and were extremely patient with the language differences. The location and scenery was breathtaking.
We stayed at this hotel because they had triple rooms available and allowed pets. It was 20 minutes from Garmisch where we went snowboarding for the weekend. The hotel was located in a cute little town, however after 6pm the town didn't offer much to do except eat. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and gave suggestions about what to do. The road leading up to the hotel was snow and ice covered and very narrow. We were trapped when a Jeep was coming down the hill as we began to go up the hill. The first morning the water in the shower was barely luke warm, made for an unpleasant shower. The problem was remedied by that evening however and we enjoyed steaming hot showers the remainder of our trip.
Good hotel for a weekend, excelent view from the room, free parking places, free internet wi-fi, good place for nordic skiing and not far from Garmisch
Gasthaus was very traditional, very nice, great location and scenery
nothing the hotel was over booked and moved us to another hotel that was not very nice at all.
The setting was outstanding, and view fantastic. The breakfast selection was adequate. It would have been nice if a selection of cut fruit were offered. Although the whole fruits were nice. The staff was very nice and friendly. There was no blowdryer in the room as show on the website. It was difficult to ask for one, as no one was available to help in the late afternoon or evening.
spectacular view no bar
We booked the Guesthouse at first, which I can not recommend. It is 20 Euros cheaper then the hotel it self, but you really get downgraded. The bathroom reminded me at a bathroom in a ship and the rooms.... not cosy at all. The rooms smelled like food since the kitchen is right underneath the Guesthouse. We didn't like that. We changed into the hotel the very next morning. The room at the hotel was very cosy, the bathroom very nice and we even had a balcony with a beautiful view. Amazing what 20 Euros can do! Overall I can say that we liked the hotel and would go there again but only if we can book a room in the hotel itself and not in the Guesthouse.
Location was excellent. The waiter at the hotel restaurant was horrible - inattentive, incompetent, and rude.
Great location, beautiful surroundings, excellent staff, the room was clean and modern. One staff member, a server in the restaurant and bar, was impatient. Otherwise, there were no bad points.
Edcellent standards in all areas, food particularly good.would go there again really good value
Everything was perfect. Only the town of Ettal itself is not fantastic, but it is close to beautiful mountains and places.
The hotel was a great find. Terrific staff, large clean rooms, pool and activities to help you relax, and the resturants food was a highlight. Great selection on the menu and worth every penny. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat.
This was a darling gasthaus with great food and an English-speaking staff. The location was quiet but an easy walk to town. It's also close to Oberammergau and all the wood carving.
Nice hotel located close to Ludwig's castles. There is a monestary within walking distance. Excellent ice cream at the hotel.
everything was great, warm, pleasant rooms, friendly staff, nice lokation the price we paid was more than the one we booked
Spa area, beautiful scenery around, wonderful selection and quality of food. We didn't know how nice it was and stayed only one night.
the staff was very efficient and it was very quiet. nothing
Nice area, decent breakfast, fairly quiet. No reception, dining room doubles as reception.
This was a wonderful hotel. The rooms where large and well equipped. We had two rooms for this stay. The preferred room was the one with a balcony which provided excellent sunrise and sunset views of the mountains. The other room was fine, just no amazing views.
When we first arrived, we were offered free coffee and cake. Very nice! The hotel has a nice smell of fresh wood and has the feel of a modern log cabin. The rooms were very nice with unique decorations. We enjoyed being able to have a joined room for a family of six. Breakfast had a very nice variety of food. Just across the street at the river bridge you can see the Zugspitze as well. I would definitely stay here again.
This place is beautiful! We loved the atmosphere and the warm hospitality. The afternoon pasteries are incredible and tasted so good after a day of traveling. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The decor was great for this location and the wood detail was amazing. We felt like we were in a storybook. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of choices and the hot chocolate was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a true "German" experience in the beautiful mountain atmosphere. I should have asked for directions to the hotel before leaving for our trip. It was a bit difficult to find late at night. It is off the main road that goes through town. People are very nice and we stopped at a gas station to ask for directions.
Really good service, kind staff, nice location, and free cake with coffee!
They provided a small bar of soap They did not provide a wash cloth for the shower
Great staff, friendly, & helpful. Wonderful breakfast included & coffee/cake all day long. WiFi in room was excellent with codes from staff. Will stay here again! Flat screen TV had at least 16 German channels. CNN/BBC should be part of service with many international guests.
The staff was extremely kind. Location was beautiful. The breakfast was tasty. The rooms were kept very clean.
Nice breakfast and friendly staff. I have a hard time trying to connect to the free wifi.
Wonderful hotel -- very friendly with children -- I had my 10 year old granddaughter with me and she was well received and treated. I will return. I have already recommended it. No
Opening of breakfast should be earlier than 0700 and the sauna should be longer open than 1900.
Great location, beautiful rooms and bathroom. Received welcome drink and fruit bowl upon arrival. Fantastic.
This is a reasonably small hotel with rooms on three floors. All rooms clean and comfortable. The food was good, even for vegetarians and the locally brewed beer was delicious. The courtesy car was not always available but staff did cooperate. The pillows are synthetic but, for this class, should really be feather. That would also make it more comfortable. The unusual window to the bathroom is not for everybody and caused some inconvenience for our teenage children sharing one room. The beds are king size rather than twin, but are two full single mattresses.
Very nice hotel staff. The breakfast was outstanding. Without a doubt the best hotel in the area. It was not possible to lower the room temperature during the night. We stayed four nights, and the temperature stayed at 23 degrees C the whole time, even if we set the temperature to 18 degrees. That is not good enough for a five star hotel. A hotel of this standard should have 2 racks for suitcases in the double rooms.
The customer focus is exceptional; restaurant is excellent; and the facilities are first class plus.
Everything! The excellent service, the design, the luxury and the quality furniture of the room & bath, the wonderful view from the room, the fine bedlinen & bath facilities, the stereo and TV, even the high quality of the material of the switches! The atmospheric restaurant with bier! A really high class Hotel! Absolutely nothing! It cannot be improved!
Lack of a relaxing lounge area with comfy armchairs
Friendly and courteous service of all members of staff, from the reception desk to the housekeeping staff. Hotel well-designed, clean and efficient.
Best hotel I ever stay. Nice welcome drink in the room with small apetiser. Free parking with valet service. best restaurant in the town with home brewed beer. Order made breakfast. Very kind hotel staff.
Quiet surroundings yet in town. Close to many tourist attractions. Pleasant staff and the buffet breakfast is very good.
Very comfortable and cosy hotel to stay in that reflects the atmosphere of Ettal. There are some beautiful hiking trails nearby that overlook the monestary...a real highlight during our trip! We arrived early in Ettal (2pm) and found the front door locked and a note in German with a phone number to call. At first we were worried this might be some online booking nightmare but when we called the number the host said we were too early and to come back after 4pm. We walked around Ettal but had to leave our bags unattended at the side door of the hotel in the rain. The hotel could also use more staff as it seemed this host was all by herself. One last thing the Visa machine was not working so thankfully Ettal has an ATM.
The location and view were excellent. The staff was pleasant. When we arrived, around 3:30 pm, the front desk was unmanned and the hotel locked. There was a number to call, but we had no phone. If we hadn't found a door which was accidentally left open, we would have had to wait outside in the snow for about 90 minutes. Fortunately, we were able to get in out of the weather, but still had to wait 90 minutes before another guest with a phone called for us. This was not how we wanted to start our vacation, especially after being awake for about 36 hours straight for the trip over from the USA.
The village of Ettal is lovely. The hotel was nice. We arrived at the hotel at 1pm as advised, and it was locked, with no staff present to let us in. Had to leave luggage at the back door. When we arrived back to the hotel, although it was now open, our luggage had not been brought in. Only one staff member seemed to run this hotel which was inadequate.
Lovely owner and just a beautiful hotel - wonderful experience
The staff (one lady) was very nice. I liked my stay. It was only for one night but it was very cozy.
The location and the hotel itself are absolutely charming. Just want you want when visiting that region. As an international traveler I was very annoyed that I could not pay with creditcard (cash only). I realize that it's common for smaller and family run hotels in the area not to accept credit cards. However if I am making an online booking using my credit card, I expect to be able to pay with it.
We found it very homely and you all made us feel very welcome Well done... many thanks to the chief for a wonderful Christmas dinner
the typical bavarian style and the view from my room
Friendly staff, family atmosphere, clean and comfortable rooms.
The hotel is charming, the restaurant is very good, the rooms are comfortable, and quiet.
The best hotel in my opinion for the NATO school students. Only 10 minutes walk from the NATO school and not far from the town center. Friendly personnel, very clean room, excellent breakfast and dinner.
Free access for internet connection and wireless available.
very nice and quiet hotel, nice place, free Wifi second door between hall and bedroom in hotel room and too noisy construction of floors, made of wood
Very close to the NATO School in O'Gau. Friendly staff. The one thing I didn't like was that the two restaurants in the Arnika were both closed for the period of my stay. Normally I avoid hotel restaurants, but I'll make an exception for the schnitzels in the Arnika. According to the notice, the restaurants should re-open today, but that's a bit late.
Love this hotel- we will be back. Very clean and very friendly.
Excellent location in town center, staff, and facilities. I had not stayed there since 1988 and it is still excellent.
Very good service, very good value for money, Rooms are nice and comfort but simple, 45 min drive to the ski site
A nice hotel in a charming place, near to the city center. Parking is on the street with a parking park of the hotel, free of charge.
Location and friendly staff. N/A
Huge room with balcony and tub. Probably the biggest room I've seen in Europe so far. Staff was excellent and very nice and lent me an outlet adapter when I asked where I might purchase one. Big great breakfast.
Our 2nd stay here. Just as excellent as the first time! I would highly recommend for families with strollers as the have a lift.
Hotel staff extremely friendly, speaks good English, and very helpful throughout the stay. Hotel is centrally located in Oberammergau with easy walking access to many restaurants.
This hotel was located right in the heart of Oberammergau and surrounded with lots of cafes and shops. While the building is several hundred years old, the interior has been updated beautifully and everything (bedding, carpet, furniture) is fresh and very clean. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the square. The bathroom was completely up-to-date and even included a receptacle wired for 120V with a US-style socket. Parking passes were provided by the hotel and we had no problem finding a spot right around the side of the building. All in all, this is just the right combination of cozy and historic with modern conveniences at a very reasonable price.
This place is terrific!!! Mrs. Richter treats you like you are part of her family. The rooms were awesome, the breakfast she prepares is fabulous! I could move into the Richter Gaestehaus in a minute!
Owner was extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was wonderful- full of fresh ingredients and local produce. Location was within easy walk of important sights in Oberammergau. no
Nice room; nothing fancy, but certainly nothing to complain about. The woman who operates this B&B is incredibly friendly and personable. She provided a fabulous breakfast. That we didn't stay multiple nights ;-) Really, there are no complaints that I can think of.
The warm welcome, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner - she couldn't do enough for for her guests and - as others have said - the fantastic breakfast of course.
the personal attention of Mrs Richter, the extended breakfast and the magnificant view
The staff was wonderful - very helpful and kind. The breakfast buffet, which was included with the stay, was delicious, plentiful, and included many locally produced foods.
The staff (Mr. and Mrs. Richter) were exceptionally friendly. Always ready with information and service with a smile.
The view from the window was magnificent. The room and the bathroom facilities were very good. Breakfast was very fresh, a lot of it and, generally speaking, extraordinary. Our host was welcoming, very caring and nice.
Gaestehaus Richter met our needs perfectly. Our room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast offered a wonderful variety of healthy choices, and Mrs. Paula Richter looked after all our needs when we arrived tired and weary from our oversea flight. The location is ideal for the Passion Play currently happening in Oberammergau. We would definitely stay here again on a return visit.
Wonderful people running a wonderful house that almost feels like you are visiting family, rather than staying in a strange room.
Owner - Paula- was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. Location was excellent- close to train station and town. I would definitely stay here again.
The lady who seemed ot be only person running the hotel was very efficient in doing her business. The hotel location and its general atomosphere were also very good.
Location was great - only 5 minute walk into main part of town. Skimpy on breakfast buffet; bed was too hard.
Hotel was great in every point of view. Room was comfortable, very clean. Balcony was also big and looking at mountains and forest. Breakfast was delicious. Anyone who wants to visit Bavarian castles and small towns in this area should stay in this hotel in Oberammergau.
The staff was most helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and v ery clean. We came by train and were about 200 meters from hotel. We were very conveniant--maybe 200 meters from the main street. I would not be afraid to recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Restaurant was great. Staff were very helpful. The size of the room. The fact the price was higher than their regular rate due to a Trade Show going on in Munich.
The hostess was very helpful. The hotel was clean and had a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The beds were a bit too soft for my liking
Good location, really nice village, good restaurants etc We liked everything
Owner was very pleasant and spoke good English, making it very easy to communicate. Quiet and very scenic location. Hotel was spotless, very clean and well-kept. Beds were a little too hard... Top sheets would be nice too; though in Europe it is common to not supply top sheets...
The front manager was extremely helpful and informative during our stay. Nothing. It was a good experience.
Staff, breakfast, location. A very beautiful place.
The Hotel was in a superb location and the views were very impressive. It was an extremely friendly enviroment and the staff was excellant in taking care of your needs. The food was very good, Breakfast was fine but the Dinners was lovely
Staff was great and opportunity for the great Dinner Buffet was too good to pass up.
It was the only moderately priced hotel within an hour of Munich during Octoberfest that I could find .. we are grateful that your website made it available to us. But we were using it as the first hotel on our European leg and after travelling all night, it would have been good to know that this hotel is a 15 - 20 minute cab ride from the train station, and it's a tiny station in the middle of nowhere; cabs are not always available .... we were lucky, but others weren't. Distance from train station.
Friendly & Helpful Staff. Spacious Room, Great food.
The charming welcome letter and fruit plate that was presented shortly after arrival. Immaculately clean room with great view, adjoining balcony, free, easy wi-fi access, friendly and eager-to-please staff, location, in house bar and restaurant, lovely dining and lobby rooms. Our room was recently remodeled and we had plenty of space to spread out -- desk area, several chairs, a small table, etc. We had a most enjoyable stay and thought it was a great value for the price. Meals were good but breakfast buffet was not as lavish or tasty as many others we enjoyed at several other hotels throughout Bavaria.
friendly staff Shower leaked onto the floor
The staff were attentive and efficient, and the rooms were quiet and clean.
They are good hotel. My worst experience ever. I stayed in the room 205 and I was bit by bed bugs. Even now, almost one month after my stay I still have marks on my hands. http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef636.asp
Great breakfast, perfect location...a must stay and will do so again.
Loved the staff. It was super clean. Very accommodating to families. Beautiful setting. Very peaceful and quiet.
The courtesy and professionalism of the staff and the delicious food.
Расположен удобно Вокруг очень красивая природа Очень тихо и уютно Дизаин номера( национальный колорит) Прекрасный балкон Отличный завтрак
One member of our party did not eat breakfast and the hotel staff came to the room to insure that they were not eating before they finished with the breakfast. That was greatly appreciated that they would insure they were not eating.
The location was good. Staff were very pleasant. It was great that there was a bar fridge on the landing where one could buy beer, wine and water and it was all cold. There were glasses available, too. The breakfast was the very same every day.
Nice! Good breakfast
Excellent location and good breakfast. Quiet neighborhood.
The comfort of the room and the willingness to help stowing luggage because the train station has no lockers were really good.
The proximity to the city Parking is a bit limited
This hotel is located next to the Bahn, Bus, Ski Shop, Gas Station, Oberamergau Ski Hill, and within a 5 minute walk to the center of town. A 30 minute bus ride took us to Garmisch-Patenkirchen. Perfect! The Hotel Hostesses were absolutely terrific and so accomodating -we loved it.
Basic rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
The personnel was friendly, provided for a home atmosphere and was speaking Russian - very convenient. Besides, location is perfect - near the railway station, ski center and major supermarkets. It looks shabby and poorer in comparison to other Oberammergau hotels, or even 3-star hotels in Munich. It was rather cold in the rooms.
Very friendly staff, family owned nd you are very well taken care of. Very old gasthouse, but it adds to the scenery
Booked two economy rooms (with extra bed) for family of 6, and was given a family suite with beds for 7. This suite had a private bathroom and kids slept in a separate room, for no extra charge over the original booking of two economy rooms. Windows did not have blinds, so the street light kept the room pretty well lit. The cold water handle on faucet would come off in your hand.
Breakfast was very tasty and enough, room service was kind and helpful. Breakfast/dinner room was a little cold from windows.
We drove to Zuqspitza... and the Castles in the area No, we were very happy with the hotel
The couple who owns this guest house is excellent--very welcoming and helpful. We needed to make plans to leave the next morning. They found a son to interpret for us and the next morning the owner wanted to drive us to the train station instead of us walking. Then he unloaded our luggage and asked questions for us to find out which track to go to since the ticket office was not open. The wife prepared breakfast early so we could eat before we left. Great service.
nice pleasant surroundings. friendly owner, good breakfast. room was adequate and clean. ideal for a 1 night stay.
It was a decent place to stay. The hotel staff was very nice and willing to help with anything.
Friendly people in a cute little town. Nice view of the mountains from our balcony.
It was comfortable, very good value abd run by a delightful and efficient husband and wife team. An excellent breakfast is provided No
All the best Old bathroom equipment - mixer tap, for example.
We wanted to eat breakfast before the normal 8am Sat timeframe and they were glad to accomodate us.
Sauna/swimming pool assortment of breads at breakfast was limited
Nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Breakfast lovely. Comfortable bed. Mini bar
Very quiet. Very friendly, accomodating proprietors.
Wonderful hotel! Very clean and comfortable rooms. A cozy and charming atmosphere. Nice service and good breakfast selection (not included in price). No one in reception when I arrived, only a note with a phone number to call. For travelers without a mobile phone, this would have been a problem.
Great staff, very friendly, exceptionally clean room and bathroom, decorated tastefully in a Bavarian Alpine style, comfortable, inviting, a home away from home!
Very close to Schloss Linderhof.
Breakfast was yummy and fresh. The room had a great balcony for outside sitting and a nice view of the surrounding area. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Location was perfect to see the Passion Play. Thank you. Coffee available at breakfast was ok, but tasted a bit like instant coffee. Wi-fi was fast and slow, so mostly ok, but frustrating at times.
Location in ythe middle of the town. Only breakefast served, no other meals
A very clean, conveniently located and quiet room. Nicely appointed with all the necessary immenities. A very nice breakfast room and great breakfast. It was a very pleasant visit....one I will recommend to others.
Hotel staff attention and support. It was my second time, and the first stay was excellent, not this one. Room without view, dark, only window facing an stairs at the view of everybody I had to have it closed, no good internet connexion either. Expensive for what I got. Afte two days, I moved to another nearby hotel, cheaper, better view, bettert room, and with excellent internet connection.
The hotel was right in the center of Oberammergau. The room was great. At breakfast, most of the food was cold. Also the wireless that was supposed to be working in the rooms was not working at all.
Very nice hotel in a great location in the Bavarian Alpes. Staff is friendly. Breakfast was also good Nothing to complain about
Very nice facilities
Very friendly staff and nice rooms; very well managed.
