Pros: Everything. All clean, great location (10 m ride on subway to the airport, 5 m to main train station) Staff helpful and kind and try everything to help. Beds (bunk for us) were comfy. Enough toilets (on every floor like 4) and bathrooms for everyone. Very spacey and room for luggage and storage lockers. Every morning new towel free. Nice balcony and kitchen/resting place (books, tv, vending machines). Very recommended place to stay the night or couple!

Cons: Being served catsup with the crispy duck
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, attentiveness unsurpassed, cleanliness, outside restaurant recommendations —from fugu to bone broth basic ramen — all excellent. Truly deserving of first class rating.
Cons: Like most Japanese lodging, a bit tight for two 6’2” men, father and son. We managed, but suitcases, backpacks, etc had us moving furniture. No solution, other than room upgrade it would seem. More room space, with same amenities, would have been *****. Additionally, the exercise/pool facilities were amazing -BUT it should be clear that use costs you plenty. Room size, additional cost for access to gym/pool would be nice in package or to know clearly in advance.
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, good amount of choices and authentic.
Cons: Location was a bit distant from major commercial/shopping areas.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, clean
Cons:
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were consistently helpful and attentive.
Cons: The room could use a do over. Everything was old and slightly worn. Worst of all, it was cluttered: it was as if the hotel was so busy trying to provide for every contingency, filling every empty space with something that might be useful to someone, sometime, that they forgot to leave room for the guests’ own belongings. Literally, I had a square foot of space on the 8 foot sink counter for my toiletries, etc. The bathroom was very old fashioned and reminded me of those I came across in Japan 15 years ago. A common complaint in earlier reviews I’d read on several sites, which the management continues to ignore, is that breakfast is served cold. Not room temperature: ice cold. Eggs Benedict should not be cold, nor should the Hollandaise be gelid. The Western buffet selections were severely limited, so unless you’re an adventurous eater, and don’t mind fish and soup for breakfast, you might best look for some place in the area to have breakfast.

Pros: We had a lovely stay at last leg of our holiday in Fukuoka. 1. the room was big and spacious and so was the twin beds and bathroom. However the bath tub was huge and had no aid like hand rails to get out of the huge tub as it was very deep to get out. 2. there were an amenities list in the room that you can "borrow" from the hotel like organic shampoo or moisturizing tissues etc...and what "cannot be taken" but borrow like the types of pillows etc. 3. there is an Nespresso machine in the room as well as tea bags for free consumption. Did not use the mini bar. 4. the hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating to a certain extend in Japanese culture. Loved the fact they are able to help hold one of my luggages for 6 days for when I checked in after my trip around Kyushu. And they bought it to my room on my checkin. However I suggest to check with the hotel 1st like I did for confirmation on holding luggages. 5. the location is excellent as there is a huge mall next to it as well as the Seiryu Park where the outdoor stalls called yatai are at night. Hakata Station is about 10mins walk from Grand Hyatt. Thank you Grand Hyatt Fukuoka for a wonderful but short stay. Enjoyed your hospitality.

Pros: Good location and price for what you get. Big chains have lost much of their appeal for me as I want a simple and reasonably priced experience free of pretentiousness, so this type of hotel, or the growing number of hotel/apartments popping up in Japan's bigger cities are great for me. Small room with narrow desk; tidy and comfortable.

Pros: Location. It is 10mins walk from Canal City and 10mins to Tenjin Underground Mall. There are restaurants and cafe nearby the hotel some opened til 4am! Especially the noodles and gyoza shop just across the street. The beds are very comfortable and clean. The hotel provides beverages in the lobby/cafe dining area. Every night we tried all different types of fruit juice and fruit infused drinks. Loved it! Also tea and coffee machine available there as well as in the rooms. There are vending machines and washing and dryer machines on the lobby level. The key cards are tapped in the elevator access to your rooms for security. There is a fresh supermarket just down the road besides the Family Mart, 7-11 and Lawson.

Pros: The room was contemporary and clean. The best thing about this hotel is the location right near a subway station and across the canal from two parks and the symphony hall building, which is a great attraction alone because of its green-covered pyramid that you can climb. In the evening, several yatai food stalls set up down the street. It's a great Japanese summer pastime to stroll the canal and get some yakitori. Great location for that.

Pros: Close to canal city it is a good place to stay to visit hakata by foot.

5.1 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very centrally located to shopping, restaurants and bars as well as the subway line and buses. The staff were friendly enough and the breakfast is good.
Cons: I arrived with an early morning flight after flying all night and arrived at the hotel by 10am. I was advised that official check in wasn't until 2pm and I would have to wait until this time. I found this somewhat strange considering most North American hotels will allow you to check in if they have a room ready. Even if they didn't immediately have a room ready, they usually make an effort to get you into a room as soon as one is cleaned and ready. I sat patiently in the lobby for the next two hours and then made another attempt at noon to see if any rooms had been cleaned and were ready to be moved into. The front desk's English was very poor so it was difficult to communicate but they again told me that check in wasn't until 2pm. I tried to reason with them that surely some of the rooms must have been cleaned by this point and but was told again that check in would only take place at 2pm. I was told that if I wanted to check in earlier, I would need to pay 3500 Yen for the "overtime". I couldn't quite understand what overtime would be involved since they had to clean my room regardless -- it was just a case of what order they were going to clean it compared to other rooms. I refused to pay this fee and returned to sit on the sofa in the lobby for another two hours. Finally at 2pm I was permitted to check in. I got up to my room only to discover that it was a smoking room (yes, there is still such a thing!). I called down to the desk and explained that I had been assigned a smoking room but wasn't a smoker (interestingly, the kayak site that I booked the hotel on didn't ask for a smoking preference). I was told that there were no non-smoking rooms available (despite me presumably being the first person to check in today!) and that they would send someone up to get rid of the smoke smell. Unfortunately we know how that goes... they attempted to get the smoke smell out but it didn't make much difference. Even thought I was only there for one night, my clothes and luggage still came away smelling like smoke. Hardly an enjoyable experience for the price paid!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is very convenient to Hakata and Tenjin area. The room size is bigger than average Japanese hotel room. 24/7 restaurant and shops nearby.

Pros: Staff are professional and very helpful. The location is nice, close to Hakata station and Tenjin with walkable distance. The neighborhood is safe and lively with many good restaurants and shops. Breakfast is well-prepared and served with a variety of food.
Cons: The room is pretty small as Japanese standard. May add surcharge for event and trade fair.

Pros:
Cons: The mattress is very soft and it inclines, need change.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful , room was lovely, it was a great location for me , so much within walking distance . I would return without a problem.
Cons: I know you are going for a particular atmospheric feel but I find the lack of lighting in the hotel in general just a bit annoying. It reminds me of an Abercrombie & Fitch type store regarding the lighting or a hotel in Las Vegas where they consciously try to keep you in night time (gambling) mode. It is just slightly annoying as I say . Maybe at least turn the lights up in the lifts and a little bit in the corridors leading to bedrooms. I had to help an elderly couple who could not see the room numbers .
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location, good view from our room, good size room
Cons: Staff were not particularly friendly. No hotel information in room in English. Not disabled or luggage friendly, we had to drag our heavy bags up a lot of stairs which were not well lit in order to reach reception. Poor air conditioning in room. Inadequate signage indicating how to enter the hotel upon arrival.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Locatiom
Cons: 20 steps to climb to get to the lobby. With baggage without help.under sun or rain. What about disabled or older clients? Nothing is said in the hotel description. Common parts dark and poorly lighten (find it smart?) In the lift you barely distinguish floor numbers on the board. Staff kind but not english speeking.communication very difficult. No directory in the room.impossible to call room service. No social spaces.bar closed used as luggage storage.

Pros: The hotel is strategically located, close to city and my meeting location.

7.1 Good
Pros: The location was great
Cons: The whole property smelled like smoking. I was in a non-smoking room and it still smelled like stale smoke as did the hallways. My clothes all smell like that now too. The bed was hard and the pillows were lumpy. This is not the quality I am used to. The bathroom was tiny. The noise from the mall below was very loud in the room. I didn’t rest well. I won’t be back.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location ok for Fukuoka
Cons: Rooms were very small
7.5 Good
Pros: Connected to Canal City mall. Rooms larger than your average Japanese hotel rooms (compared to Tokyo or Osaka). Breakfast offerings were abundant. Staff courteous.
Cons: 15 min walk to either JR Hakata Station or Gion station. But lots of restaurants and convenience stores around so still accessible.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean and great location.
Cons: Although clean there was a bathroom odor. Could not regulate the room temperature which was extremely warm. Opening the window provided some relief but the music from the adjacent mall to late in the evening was a trade off for the heat.
6.3 Good
Pros: Easy to have shopping in Canal City .
Cons: But not convenience to go to other places cause we need to take bus or taxi to Hakata or Tinsin station
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, right at the Canal City shopping center and about 15 min walk from the Hakata central station. Many food options around, including nice restaurants and Fukuoka's famous street food stalls (which are overrated in terms of food quality). Hotel is OK, but not really great, but value for money is fair, I guess.
Cons: The room was overheated and could not be regulated. I had to keep the window cranked open, which is an issue because of outside noise. Other people (colleagues) had the same problem and it was obvious from the street to see that many windows were open. (In November!). Breakfast was ok-ish, but strongly leaning towards Japanese style and very limited for westerner's needs; needs improvement. Same hotel chain owns the Gracery in Shinjuku, Tokyo, which is orders of magnitude better in every respect (including breakfast) - I got fooled by trusting in this brand.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really comfy beds and great view
Cons: The barh could of been a little bigger. And no change machines for the laundry
7.1 Good
Pros:
Cons: Window does not open for fresh air

Cons: The bath is old and was not so clean.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful, extremely close to the centre of Tenjin making it super convenient to shop.
Cons: Parking costs 2800 yen per day, it’s a little pricy considered there were many available spaces at the hotel parking lot. The bathroom in the room was all dark, it was spacious but still it wasn’t enjoyable. When I asked the front desk staff to help to reserve a restaurant, he refused to do so, wasn’t sure if it was because of the hotel regulations or something else though.

Pros:
Cons: The fact that you can still smoke in bedrooms. All my clothes smell of old cigarette (despite the room not having a strong cigarette smell).
