They accommodated us and we got to see three different rooms due to last minute decisions to stay one extra night each morning :) the breakfasts were grand, the orange salad and fish carpaccio were exceptional, the wine collection is unique and the conversations with them were always a pleasure. In short, STAY HERE.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location of these rooms is beautiful, right on the seafront of a small bay. Book a room with a balcony and sea view. This bay is way down the Mani. It gets busy at lunch times but once the day trippers have gone its idyllic. We have been here many times before but this year we stayed and it is well worth it. Swimming in the crystal clear waters of the bay, drinking the odd beer or two and eating locally prepared food and fresh fish is what a relaxing holiday should be about.
Cons: Nothing - it was exactly as we expected

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Alika resort was all we could hope for and event more! Where to start? The owners were absolutely lovely, we actually had the opportunity to meet and both Theresa and her dad took the time to give us recommendations for food, walks and beaches. The facilities are very well located, with a gorgeous view over the breath-taking Mani scenery. The rooms are decorated with taste, every room is different, and you can feel all the elements of decoration have been chosen with attention. The breakfast was amazing. First of all, it was a proper meal (with both sweet and salty elements) and with local delicacies. It was actually a pleasure to try traditional greek recipies every day together with fresh fruits and homemade cakes (the "carpouzopita" or watermelon pie, was unforgettable). The outdoor spaces are beautiful and the distance to the beach is perfect. All in all, we would highly recommend Alika resort, and are very likely to visit again - very soon!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff who recognised us from a previous stay. Great food and amazing location and atmosphere
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel but the restaurant was awful.
Cons: We stayed at the hotel and went to a restaurant for dinner... and were totally unsatisfied with the service there. We got a table a bit outside, close to the water, because the tables on the first line were booked. A waiter brought the starters, bread and wine fast enough. But then we were waiting for the main dishes for 30 minutes almost. We ordered pasta with shrimps and grilled fish with mussels - nothing difficult. They can not being cooked so long. Also he did not bring us plates for shells. It is obvious that if you order mussels and shrimps, you will have shells after and you will need to put them somewhere. We asked about it and were waiting for the plates for the next 5-7 minutes. Of course our main dishes became cold while we were waiting, and we could not really enjoy the food. The bread was finished until they brought us the main dishes. And a waiter did not ask if we want more or not. Also a waiter brought wine in the ice basket but the ice basket had cold water inside instead of ice. A waiter recommended us really good wine, but it was too warm. We asked to change the ice basket for the newone (with ice) so as it could make the wine really cold. And we were waiting for him for the next 10 minutes... But when he came, he brought another basket with cold water again... It seems that he just put the basket into the fridge instead of changing it completely for the iced one. So, we ate cold food and drunk warm wine, and the most of the time we were waiting for a waiter just to order something, because nobody came to out table for a long time even to take dirty plates! At the end of the dinner, a waiter did not offer us a dessert - nothing. We said that we were not satisfied with the service today, but again - nothing was done to change this impression. It seemed that they don’t really care of their guests. Sorry, but the restaurant changed all our good impressions about the hotel for the bad ones:(

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, nice rooms, undisturbed nature, friendly owners, very good breakfast, excellent restaurant
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was a good size and very comfortable. All shampoo, toothbrush, comb and hotel extras were supplied . The breakfast was good with nice coffee. It is right by the water and the owner was helpful and pleasant.
Cons: However this property is still being finished and we were the only ones staying there. It was very isolated being 4 kilometres from a town that had restaurants and bars . No evening meal was available. Whilst it is on the water it has rocks infront of it so that you could not swim there...it is a walk to a very stony beach where it was hard getting in and out of the water without plastic shoes. We were disappointed in the location and environment. 4 kilometres down the road is Gerolimenas which is a much better option to stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, nice view.
Cons: We were charged 2 euros per teabag for the tea we made in the room. On the first day the room was quite cold (it's winter), the heating didn't cope. On the following days it was ok.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here for 2 nights. What a gorgeous setting! Awesome view from our large balcony with comfortable furniture, good size room, breakfast is served on a lovely balcony too and was one of the most elaborate we had, including the typical homemade cakes and marmelades. Great location to explore the southern tip, also a few nice remote pebbled beaches close to the hotel.
Cons: Wifi didn't work from the room. Would have been nice to have some fresh fruits at this price rate (the owner did offer me a peach after he saw me looking for fruit on one occasion).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located on a beautiful coastal site with amazing uninterrupted seaviews. Welcoming staff, quiet relaxing atmosphere all around the facility, traditional stone architecture with all conveniences supplied to us, on foot access to a small beach with crystal clear waters and one of the best breakfasts I've had in Europe! Will definately visit again!
Cons: There was nothing not to like.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views over the wild and remote coastline plus the room comfort equals that which you'd find in a 4* hotel elsewhere in Western Europe.
Cons: No fresh fruit at breakfast and as the restaurant wasn't open when we visited in mid-September, guests need to be aware that for any amenities, (restaurants, bars etc), you need to drive the winding road for 10mins to Geroliminas, (no problem in the light but slightly more tricky coming back in the dark for nervous drivers).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good accomodation, very kindly host
Cons: Everything was ok
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay in the deep Mani. This hotel is very traditional and has great character. Don’t expect big chain frippery here. It provides bed and breakfast. You can get dinner at a taverna nearby. The hotel owner is great: old school courteousness; like Patrick Leigh Fermor wrote about. Breakfast was very good. Beautiful garden. Scenery unique.
Cons: Not applicable
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Super welcoming host, beautiful place in a lost village. Nice location to explore Magna. The small family grill restaurant located at 100m is perfect to end the day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner, mr. Mihalis, is an awesome host. He offered us drinks upon arrival and regaled us with stories relating to our own country home. The setting is wonderful, breakfast is more than adequate, wifi is about the best we've had in Greece and there was even an air of friendliness with other guests I've only seen in campsites.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit dungeon-like and the mattress too soft. Nothing too bad in either case.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Parking could have been closer to room.
9.3 Excellent

Pros: A most accommodating and charming owner.
Cons: Having booked for 4 nights, we realised that a 2 night stay would have been preferable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard garden is beautifully kept. It is a very peaceful place in a remote setting. Sitting on the terrace under the stars was special. Being greeted with a cold beer on arrival.
Cons: The shower and bathroom are a little tired, function ok. Breakfast was good but a little unexciting.

Guests can enjoy their breakfast in their room or on the balcony. Castello is at 38 km from ancient Areopolis and 35 km from the caves of Diros. Cape Tenaro is at 6 km. Kalamata Airport is 129 km away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the room is much better than the pictures you see on booking: large, nicely furnished with a lovely sea view. the owners are very nice and accomodating, they waited for us to get back from an early day trip to give us breakfast. Breakfast was served on our room terrace and was really good for us (coffe, toast, fresh bread, butter, jam and freshly squeezed orange juice). Strategic location as it is on second lane vs the beach road in a quite spot - the village is VERY SMALL with 1 way to get in and out, having access to easy parking was also a plus. I would surely choose it again.
Cons: I am going to be a bit picky here...the electricity generator for the fridge in the room was a bit noisy, we turned it off and solved the problem ;)
6.8 Good
Pros: Mr. Spyros & mrs. Kanella were very very pleasant and good people. They were very accomodating and easy going people. The beaches in the area are beautiful with clean waters.
Cons: No internet.... The nearest mini market is 30 km away. The nearest pharmacy is 47 km away. You are forced to eat and drink from 3 family owned taverns. No place to throw away the garbage. Poto kayio is a monopoly as it is solo owned by 4 brothers amd sisters.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stelios and Kanella are the sweetest hosts of this traditional guesthouse. Porto Kayio is a very small place with three tavernas and some guesthouses right on the beach. The Castello is located in the "second row", but still has beach view. <3
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hosts who do their best to make you feel al home. The breakfast is very generous. The room is simple but clean, spacious and quiet, with bathroom, airco and tv. The entrance is very private with an outside seating area surrounded by oleander trees and overlooking the sea. The room is 30 meters from the beach. Very good value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly sweet and helpful owners, a lovely breakfast in front of our room when we woke up, a very Nice and cozy environment to wake up in! Would recommend staying at their place, if you happen to be around!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Full breakfast served on the veranda every morning by the owners: eggs, toasts, bread and butter, jam, honey, coffee or tea. Location was great and very quiet. Some nice restaurants on the beach a stone away from the room. We had to leave very early in the morning this is at 06:00 and owners were happy to serve us breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed the rich breakfast prepared so fresh and friendly by Canella and Stelios and were looking forward to it every morning. There was always shade, a breeze and view of the sea on the balcony. The beach was so close and perfect even for a swim even before breakfast!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of the host and his wife!
Akrotainaritis - Gerolimenas - Building
11
8.5 Excellent (103 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right on the sea front of the little bay of Gerolimenas. The hosting family is wonderful and kind. The mother is also a great cook!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Character and location. Directly opposite sea.
Cons: Lots of barking dogs but not hotel’s fault. Balcony lacked a few comforts but staff happy to oblige.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, right on the sea front, with pebbly beaches. The room was a good size with a small balcony. We had a pleasant walk at Cape Tenaro.
Cons: The service at the on site taverna was quite slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gerolimenas is a fascinating village and Akrotainaritis hotel is great! The owners are a really friendly family who also run the restaurant bellow where anyone can find really good food. The room was excellent and I would like to visit them again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay at Akrotainaritis. It was in the middle of the charming small town and very down to earth accommodation with a tavern downstairs and small pebble beach directly across the road. The family room had all we needed. The food in the tavern was lovely and we enjoyed our breakfast each morning including the best Greek yogurt we had in Greece. We'd definitely stay again!
Cons: The room was quite warm in the sleeping area upstairs even with air-con on very hot days
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location in the Deep Mani. Our room had a long balcony with views in two directions, looking over the beautiful little harbour and to the mountains behind the village. Parking was easy. A small number of harbourside tavernas provided sufficient dining choices.
Cons: Dogs barking in the night.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The view from the balcony and the hotel location
Cons: Unfriendly and rude owners. Serice was non-existent. Although the hotel had a seaside restaurant terrace, we were forced to have breakfast in the lugubrious indoors restaurant. Cleanliness was substandard to say the least. We even had close encounters with cockroaches travelling on the bed. The shower had naked power cables hanging from the ceiling. Terrible value for money!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, characterful, clean and spacious rooms, great food at the restaurant downstairs and absolutely lovely staff. Hugely exceeded my expectations and would readily return!
Cons: Nothing!
7.5 Good
Pros: On the beach in a miniscule village. You hear the sea in your room. Big balcony. Friendly staff. Good breakfast served by grandpa.
Cons: Somewhat outdated facility.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Our room was nice, little balcony though not overlooking the sea, very clean
Cons: There was clearly a lot of negative energy and tension within the family that owns the hotel and restaurant. They were not very friendly to us and generally I wouldn’t stay there again. The rooms are pretty but too tight, squeezing in four beds when they would be better suited for 2 or 3. And we were forced to have breakfast inside instead of enjoying the view of the beautiful bay of Gerolimenas. Generally it is not value for money.

Pros: Staff, location, facilities, beautiful building
5.8 Okay
Pros: The traditional stone buildings
Cons: I am 1,75cm y’all and my husband 1,87cm. We chose an attic for our stay ( we could imagine from photos that it was a small but cost room) we couldn’t imagine that we wouldn’t be able to stand up outside the room ( in the corridor, to lock and unlock) and that we had to bend low to walk the room. We hit our heads multiple times on the roof....,
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel was good, right on the harbour and close to restaurants and the little grocery store in town. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was quiet and relaxing.
Cons: Being in an historic building, the windows in the room were small, which unfortunately didn't enable a good view of the harbour even though it was on the waterfront.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice family run hotel. Our room was well maintained and had all the necessary facilities. Breakfast as well as other meals can be eaten at the beach a few meters from the sea.
Cons: Rooms are a bit compact and the matresses are soft.

Pros: A jewel of a place in an amazing spot. Our host upgraded us to a room overlooking the harbour. Delicious fish supper in the restaurant next door.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Georgia was so delightful, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much problem. Huge bedroom with great views from the balcony. The bed was comfortable and the location very peaceful. Very useful to have a fridge and two-ring cooker in the room to prepare our own food if we wanted to, and the breakfast buffet had so much variety- cereals, breads, cakes, jams (some home-made), boiled eggs, sliced meats, cheese, fresh fruit, coffee and tea.....it was well worth the reasonable room rate. Also the abundance of roses around the garden areas gave a gorgeous scent - beautiful!
Cons: Couldn't get wi-fi in the room and had to go to the reception area, but that was because the area is so big and most rooms were too far away for reception.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unique view from the rooms and the restaurant. Small beach 2 meters from the restaurant & family hotel. ! Amazing location for swimming or paddling in a breathless bay! Traditional excellent food served by a warmfull family. Gerolimenas is a very nice place, 4 hours from Athens, best place to discover the uniqueness of the Mani Region : the pearl between the sea, the sky and the mountains with the typical stone houses & towers.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great location. The room was basic (reflected in the price) and extremely clean. The fantastic view from the balcony was an added bonus.
Cons: Just be aware that the shower is not sectioned off in the bathroom and there's no shower curtain, so you need to pay attention to the direction of the water spray to avoid soaking whatever else is in the bathroom.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a large balcony directly overlooking the small harbour. Very very special. The owner, Spiros and the young woman who cooked in the restaurant and cleaned our room were both welcoming hosts.
Cons: No complaints
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great situation in pleasant former fishing village, several good tavernas and even a couple of bars for later.
Cons: Wish there had been bike hire in town. WiFi not much use in my room. But good ‘rooms’ standard, will be familiar to long-term Visitors to Greece, no real complaints.
