If you are expecting a 5-star, exclusive resort experience, you probably won't like this spot. But let's be honest... nowhere in Helen is there a 5-star, exclusive resort. Let's be up front and honest here... This is a cheap hotel. That's what I was expecting, and that's what I got. What I wasn't expecting was how clean the room was. It looked clean and it smelled clean. The shower was clean, and the water pressure was strong. The staff was super friendly. There are closer hotels to the heart of Helen, but this was an easy 15-minute (easy, flat) walk to The Heidelberg. If you want a premier resort experience, you won't find it anywhere in Helen. People don't go to Helen for the hotel anyway. Spend $80 for a nice, clean room and a comfortable bed, and spend the rest of your time floating on the river and drinking a boot full of beer!

Pros:-The location is good, and the price is low. -I got used to the smell very quickly. -Our bed had brand new sheets and pillows.
Cons:-The smell was bad (old cigarette smoke and mold). -This smell was worsened when we turned on the heater and got a room full of that burned dust smell. had to step outside and "air it out." -Room is very dirty, with floor to ceiling stains. Carpet looked especially bad. -Room is a disarray. No batteries in TV remote, alarm clock not plugged in, 30% of light fixtures actually had bulbs, and walls had lots of unpainted drywall patches where someone globbed that stuff on to fix holes. -A corner of the room was just a pile of mismatched furniture. Very depressing. -Thin walls meant I could hear my neighbors television quite loudly. -Hard, unyielding, uncomfortable bed. -Copious amounts of black mold under the sink, with a bonus pair of someone's dirty socks and a fast food cafeteria tray, probably used to catch dripping water. -Bonus: the night I stayed here me and my fiancee had nightmares about our hotel room, like strangers getting in and creatures crawling over us in our bed. Didn't discover the mold until the morning, and I'm wondering if breathing in mold spores gave us a hallucinogenic experience. Mold induced trippy nightmare experience was probably brought on by the overall unsafe feeling I got from staying here. I recommend camping or sleeping in your car before staying at this !@#$hole. Maybe splurge for a franchise hotel, corporate standards would have shut this place down or made an effort to make this place livable.
Pros:The Hotel sex
Cons:Hair waiting for us in the tub basin.... Used razor on soap holder and loud house keeping at 7am. No trash can in room or hairdryer. The drawers fell apart and the air-conditioning unit filled only half the gap. Felt like people where being run out of the rooms as fast as possible so the cleaning crew could get to there river jobs. Will not stay here again.
Cons:Not very nice at all. Not kept up very well. Old and run down.
