Featured amenities include express check-in, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. For a surcharge, guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle (available on request) and a cruise ship terminal shuttle.
Pros: second visit staff makes your stay perfect i love the close hiking and the country side is nice the food is great i am rested after my visit they pick me up take me ware ever i want to go for a great low price airport trip is free
Pros: Food is terrific. Nice walks nearby.
Pros: The hosts are amazing. They served an amazing dinner. Eva speaks excellent English and Russian. The rooms are super clean and comfortable and the location is very quiet in an amazing setting of rice fields and forests. Very highly recommended.
Pros: Hiro and Iva entertained us very well . They work really hard to meet their guests exoectations. Its above and beyond. The food that they served were the best that we had . We will highly recommend this very quiet and relaxing place
Cons: We arrive late and the weather was not good
Pros: The idea was great. I was a little confused on the process but found it a great way to end my trip to Japan.
Cons: There were a few extra charges and we were pretty much pushed out of the hotel. They were a little angry that we were not out the door exactly at 10 AM yet the breakfast was not served until after 9 AM . Having a 3 year old it this was a little challenging. They literally started taking our luggage and putting it in the car. We wound up sitting at the airport for 6 hours.
Pros: A beautiful place set amongst rice fields. We loved the traditional feel of this ryokan and everything was of high quality - especially Iwa’s cooking! The owners are wonderfully friendly and helpful, even taking us to a local eatery and supermarket on the way from the airport as we didn’t have a car. The area is peaceful and great for walking. We will definitely be back.
Pros: We love the food made for us , and the house was clean.
Cons: The room is small , the House was made for guest , but not really owner's house .
Pros: The staffs is very friendly. I believe she’s western who move to Japan with good Japanese accent. She told me that the food there will cook from very fresh ingredients and you should try that by adding it into your stay as well. Unfortunately, I have to leave early to the airport , so no chance for that. The ryokan is very clean and equipped with all the things you need like kitchen , bathroom. There is lovely garden around the house , so you can enjoy the view while you stay.
Cons: Just a bit too far from city. If you come for different season , there is nothing much to see. The best moment should be when the rice field bloom.
Pros: The owners are super nice! A true Japanese experience.
Pros: Very welcoming hosts. Clean, authentic, traditional rooms. Wonderful food.
Located in Katori-shi, HOSTEL Co-EDO is a 1-minute drive from Sawara Historic Streets and 7 minutes from Kasumigaura Bay. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, microwave in a common area, and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The room was super clean and comfortable. Double pane windows covered up the train noises.
Cons: Neighbors were pretty loud. Could not sleep in...
Pros: New and tidy. Facilities are good. Very economical. Have private bathrooms.
Cons: The rooms are too close to each other. A bit noisy at night.
Pros: It was easy to access from railway and very close to the main Sawara shops. It was very quiet and relaxing.
Pros: The cosiness, cleanliness and cooking facilities....seating shower is great, they even have a hand grinder for coffee beans
Pros: Ken, the owner is extremely nice and accomodating. The atmosphere was calming and very family friendly. The common room is lovely and a great place to meet and talk with the other visitors and the owner. The price is very reasonable to the value of the stay. If I ever get the opportunity I will definitely stop by again. I've already referred the place to a friend of mine going up there next year.
Cons: No complaints on my part.
Pros: This place is very fresh and clean and feels brand new with every amenity. It is very accessible from the station and the historic area making it a great base. The manager is very helpful and speaks english.
Pros: Location was unbelievable, loved every part of it. Hostel was extremely clean and hotel manager very friendly.
Cons: Hotel walls very thin, was very loud with the other tourists next door.
Pros: The hostel is new one and so everything is really nice and super clean, also it's just next to the river and historical area. The staff is helpful and I really can't complain about anything.
Pros: I'm not that type of person who leaves comments. But I LOVE my stay at this hostel. I was there just for a night in between my long travel. The location is good, not far from Sawara station (The station itself has many connecting trains to other regions of Japan). The hostel is very spaces, so as the bedrooms, toilets and shower rooms. I love the wooden house, it makes everything extra comfortable. The opposite is a super yum (and famous) restaurant that serves eel with rice. Definitely recommended. The bed is lovely, more than enough room to roll around, the blanket is soft and comfy. I have only met one stuff who lives there, he was kind and friendly. The highlight of the hostel is the shower, I have never been to any hostel that has such an amazing shower. Totally worth it! I would come back again.
When you stay at Hotel Bettei Umi To Mori in Choshi, you'll be near the beach, within a 10-minute walk of Manganji Temple and Inubosaki Marine Park. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We loved everything. The room, the view, perfect. The meals were very traditional, but delicious. Do arrive closer to check in to experience everything if you only stay one night. I wish we had more time.
Cons: Pricing on this website was inaccurate compared to the actual rate and caught us off guard at check in. Due to tradition, tattoos are not allowed in the onsen downstairs and the charter bath they advertise is no longer available.
Pros: We liked everything, including the food! It should be clear to other guests that the food is very Japanese so if someone is not used to or not open to different flavors, then you should be clear with the hotel staff. We also liked the open bath and the reminder about the sunrise time. It was cloudy but we could imagine how beautiful it would look like on a clear morning.
Cons: Unless you speak a good amount of Japanese, it can be hard to communicate with staff. This was the case with the food menu where they described it in Japanese. We ate everything but would like to have known what we were eating, in English. It is also important to have travel information for non-Japanese speakers. It is VERY easy to get to hotel since it's basically the last stop on the bus from Tokyo Station. If you don't know this, however, then you might take the train there since it's easier to understand. We also struggled to find where the bus stop for the Inubosaki was. Please help us foreigners get to this wonderful place more easily!
Pros: The location is one of the best aspects but the food, hotel room, amenities, and calm nature of the surrounding area makes this one of the best hotels in the area.
Cons: The price, while the staff was very accommodating for the addition of another person in my reservation It didn't change the fact that this was a very expensive one night.
With a stay at Gyoukeikan in Choshi, you'll be a 3-minute walk from Nagasaki Beach and 8 minutes by foot from Manganji Temple. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and an elevator (lift). A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Everything else was great! Service was so friendly and accommodating and even though our Japanese language skills are non-existent they did everything they could to help. Breakfast was delicious and dinner served in the room each night was always fresh and varied. Our waitress was fabulous too. Also loved the onsen overlooking the ocean.
Cons: Charge for ice was an unexpected downer when we checked out. We bought a bottle of sake on our first night and were provided glasses and ice included in the price. We finished the bottle over the next two nights but were charged 560JPY for the ice and glasses for each of the following two nights. The ice was really nice and plentiful but as we only needed about a cup it seemed excessive. This may be the norm in Japan, I don't know so I'm not judging too harshly (especially as it's possible it was written on the menu and we didn't realise because we don't speak the language!). Just a buyer beware! The building itself is a little tired and worn but I didn't mind that - everything was clean and comfortable.
Pros: room with beautiful seaview Serve the dinner in room, the dinner was fancy and yum Around this town can eat a lot fresh and nice seafood
Cons: It was pity, during stay the weather was cloudy can’t see the sunrise in the room, wish to have a chance can come here again can see
Pros: Great location, lovely staff, love the food
Cons: Nothing to complain
With a stay at Hotel Route-Inn Kashima in Kashima, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Minato Park and Katori Shrine. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a computer station, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Not much around within walking distance. A 7-11, Sukiya & Yayoiten was about it.
Cons: One review said the breakfast was good but I was disappointed. If you want western style you’re in for a disappointment. No fruit. Bread was ok. No black tea. If you’re a tea drinker take your own.
Pros: Very clean and modern
Pros: Excellent free breakfast Excellent rooms, clean, individual AC, showers are clean, water pressure strong and hot. Choice of smoking and non smoking rooms Good location, right on main highway easy access to both north and south.
Pros: The rooms were really clean and modern looking. Also, the staff were friendly and the food was great. On the whole, the bed was comfy. The free wifi in your room was excellent. Thank you
Cons: The pillow was a little hard.
Pros: This is a Route-Inn Hotel and they've really improved their decor and quality. It's an excellent stay with coin laundry and a hot public bath (in addition to the one in your room.)
Cons: Most of the service counter people were good but the one that I checked-in with just wanted to speak as fast as possible and get me out of the way.
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: Pillows a little to hard
Pros: clean and so comfortable. i always enjoy staying here, and the delicious breakfast, too!!
Pros: Its clean and peacefull
Cons: My opinion only I found the beds to be really hard, I cant fault it though as its probably my own issue
Located in Katori-shi, NIPPONIA Sawara Merchant Town Hotel is in the historical district, a 1-minute drive from Sawara Historic Streets and 15 minutes from Narita Dream Dairy Farm. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It was a real treat staying here and we were very well taken care of. It was off season and we got an offer to upgrade our room so we got to check out a couple and choose. We ended up staying in a two-floor house with a great wooden bath. The manager was great, accommodating a last-minute request for dinner and then even translating the menu for a nearby restaurant. Overall, this was a very special experience and great for a two nights’ stay. We’re very glad we got to explore the town too :)
Pros: Kind staff who explained the history of the building thoroughly. The stay was the best introduction to japan I could ask for.
Cons: Possibly a little more direction from staff to local eateries .
Pros: We stay in Room 102 Yata. There is no handrail to go upstair bedroom which is rather dangereous. The front door is extremely heavy and there is no handle to help you to close the door. The wooden bathtub is seriously leaking. There is no staff to take you to the Room (which is a house ) which is located about 7 minute walk from the Reception Desk. Luckily we bumped into a staff and asked the direction. Or else it is quiet house where you can enjoy you stay. It's homely and cosy.
Pros: Everything was top notch
Cons: Nothing. We liked everything
Pros: Kimonos and socks provided. Great wooden Japanese tub. Excellent breakfast. Cell phone provided with speed dial to hotel. Fabulous location to wander through Japanese history. Very helpful hotel staff. Fun local restaurants. Close to Sawara train station and Katori shrine. The float museum is fantastic. Makes you want to return to see it in person.
Cons: Only choice other than hotel for breakfast was 7-11 or bakery/coffee shop.
Pros: The room was actually a house, with a big balcony. The environment was very quite and comfortable. I am not able to eat dairy food, and the chief did a very delicious and delicate french course for me, exactly look like the same with my wife's course. The breakfast was Japanese style and also awesome . The reception was very very friendly and explanation everything clearly. No trouble to communiation to the staff with english even in a small historical town in japan.
Cons: Because the room was acutally the house, it was a little difficult to identify which switch to witch light. The the bathtub controller was also confusion with only Japanese. It would be perfect if some instruction could be provided. There was no TV in the room, I agree that but if there was speaker (better with bluetooth for play song from our phone) for some music will be awesome and excellent atmosphere.
Pros: Very unique! Actually you live in a house but not a apartment! Old house refurbished with new design! Worth to go again! Btw, the dinner is quite impressive as it is French Japanese fusion with reasonable price!
Pros: It was wonderful having an entire small house. The young front desk staff were lovely although when I stayed only one had good English. I had mucked-up my dates on this non-changeable booking but the Nipponia and Booking.com sorted everything for me without penalties. Thank you, much appreciated!
Cons: I was looking forward to the hinoki bath but it was electronically controlled and I needed help to fill it (the staff were great here). Sadly the controls were defective and the bath leaked (Room Seigaku 303). I was offered another room but I enjoyed my bath at last and a quiet, restful sleep.
Pros: The staff are excellent, they all are nice, polite, and fluent in English. Love the scent of pine wood made for the room. Relaxing and fascinating.
Located in Choshi, Zekkei no Yado Inubohsaki hotel is a 4-minute walk from Cape Inubozaki and 7 minutes by foot from Inubozaki Lighthouse. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Breakfast was much better than expected with lots of variety
Pros: A lovely spot looking at the Inubosaki Lighthouse and along the coast. Beautiful sunrise. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Hated to see the poor penguins in a small enclosure outside the hotel.
Cons: The price doesn't worth it
It is a hotel that offers you an opportunity to spend such holidays that you have feast and party with the sounds of the sea breaking on the shore as background music, and you are awaken by the sounds of waves.
Pros: Staff didn't speak English, but they are friendly & helpful.
Pros: Hotel was very neat and good comfort
Cons: WiFi connection was very bad
Pros: wonderful staff and great food
Pros: A nice hotel with kind and friendly staff. Clean rooms with a nice little sitting area. We very much enjoyed the unique black water of the onsen. There were also massage chairs to use for a fee, and foot massagers for free. You could also play ping pong and the piano.
Cons: It does have a beach view as advertised, but the beach itself is across the main road and is not the best to look at. I do also think that for this price, breakfast should be included.
Pros: The view was
Pros: nice view and comfortable

Pros: Can see the sunrise from the room! Very nice sea view. Helpful and friendly staff.
Pros: Breakfast so delicious and nice view
Pros: Big and comfortable room with good view
Cons: A little bit old
Pros: The staff was extra careful seeing as my Japanese was not 100%. They made sure my stay was comfortable as well as made sure I understood the tours and offerings the town had. The room and the meals were both great as well. The outdoor baths were also beautiful and the whole hotel features its beach-side scenery prominently.
Pros: Very traditional bed-setting, like it. The view is excellent!! The beach is beautiful.
Pros: Everything set and ready to relax and have fun, totally will go again. The food of the hotel is delicious and the location is perfect.
Cons: There was nothing wrong or bad.
Pros: Next to the ocean. Great if you like the sound of waves lulling you to sleep, not great if that same sound keeps you awake.

Pros: Great view overlooking the ocean. Free parking. Manager assisted us in using the in-room payment system when we couldn't understand the instructions written in Japanese
Cons: Found the door being locked a little weird but no deal breaker
Pros: I've never been to a love hotel and didn't know what to expect. The experience is meant to be completely anonymous - you aren't supposed to see any staff. I couldn't read enough Japanese to check in with the touch-screen concierge so I had to phone the staff, they were helpful showing us the room and how the self-checkout works. I didn't realize that once the door closes it is locked until you have checked out so I had to call back the concierge to let us out to grab our bags! Once we finally settled in we enjoyed the hilarious amenities of a sex-toy vending machine, two-person bathtub, and hilarious selection of music in the bed console.
Cons: It's a love hotel so there's no illusions about what's supposed to happen there. That being said our upstairs neighbors were VERY loud about it (good for them.) There was also no option for a non-smoking room so the room had a stale tobacco smell about it.
