This luxury hotel is a modern landmark in Kansas City, the City of Fountains. Just steps from the hotel, the Diana and Cherubs fountain greets you at historic Country Club Plaza, where Seville-inspired architecture houses exclusive boutique shopping over 15 blocks. This luxury hotel in Kansas is well appointed, offering beautifully designed suites, an outdoor pool and elegant Oak Room Bar where guests can enjoy stunning views of the Plaza and live music five nights a week.
We are checking into having our family christmas party in the ball room on the top floor. The service was great the staff made us feel welcome. We would recomend a view of the Plaza.
For the price this was a very nice hotel. Great location, and excellent service!
We were in KC for a wedding and are glad we stayed at the Intercontinental. Shopping and restaurants are terrific at the Plaza, which is within walking distance. I only wish I had brought my running shoes!
Enjoyed my stay. Convenient to Plaza.
I was very surprised after the cost to find snot smeared on the light switch plate and cobwebs in the corners of the room. Upon check out, front desk did not act like it was an issue when I brought it to their attention. Even took pictures with my phone. Would probably have stayed again.
Returned again .... service and accommodations again TOP LEVEL. Oak Room served a great steak ... if you get a chance Get the Conceire Club Lounge beautiful and great service.
Great Classic Room, really comfortable mattress, beautiful decor throughout hotel, swimming pool was great !!! Conceige service was 5 Stars thanks to Craig and Melissa. The Bellmen are great too ! Again, sunning and swimming in a fine pool, then enjoying a light refreshments in a grand Conceige Louge, then across the street to Plaza III and finish up back at the Conceige Lounge for a final night cap. A special rich downstairs bar and louge with LIVE entertainment most evenings is also a great spot to enjoy. Best fireplace in Kansas. Oak Room was so-so but the rest made up for its weakness. Bob C.
At $*** we expected something special. Room was small, noisy and did not have the promised view of the plaza lights. Elevator shaft across the hall was busy all night. Neighbors ironed pants - banging the wall... heard them talking. Food at the party we attended was generic - egg rolls and quiches from Sam's. Very disappointed.
I'm pretty sure they don't have any kind of training for their servers. Our server for our Saturday night meal was completely unaware of any standard dining protocol. It started when I requested a wine recommendation for our steak and he grabbed the wine menu from me, turned to the whites and said, 'These two are pretty good.' Later I had to prompt him to bring serving plates for our apps! I would have been angry if it wasn't so obvious that he simply had no idea what he was expected to do for service in a fine dining restaurant. And it wasn't just him, there were a few other food runners, etc. which we encountered and they all seemed very out of place... I guess it says it all that we went to a chain restaurant for lunch the next day and we both commented that our server there was a remarkable contrast in terms of professionalism from what we had seen the night before. Sad.
Talk about exceeding expectations! After reading older reviews, we elected to stay here due to the location. However, with their recent room renovations, all aspects of our stay at the Intercontinental were just fantastic! From the reservation agent to the bellmen, the staff was delightful as well knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Our renovated deluxe double room in the west wing was beautiful and very comfortable. The hotel?s location is exceptional, so close to excellent shopping with the best view of the Plaza holiday lights available. The last two floors are currently in the process of being renovated and the lobby and public areas are to be renovated in Jan ? Feb 08. While there was still was work being done on our floor, the area was draped off, we saw no construction equipment, and heard no noise. We did not eat in the restaurant this visit, but have in the past and it was great. Highly recommend this hotel!
I stayed on the concierge floor in a room with the worst view, worst set up - ever. TV and bed at 90 degree angle from each other. One saving grace: X in the concierge lounge - he was fantastic.
This hotel hasn't seen a remodel in decades. The postage stamp, marble bath looked like an advanced penicillin experiement was in progress. It's across the creek from The Plaza, but way extraordinarily overpriced for what you get.
We really liked the Intercontinental. It's in an excellent location directly off the Plaza. The rooms were very nice and clean. It was our anniversary so they sent up complimentary champagne. The service was okay but needs some improving. Overall we had a great stay.
