The location of Caretta Beach is excellent and facilities are good considering the moderate price. The 2-room apartment we got is very spacious with 2 toilets and a big balcony that has a great view. The hotel staffs are very friendly and customer minded; there is a nice and cosy atmosphere. We really enjoyed our 5 days stay there. It would be even better, if the hotel could provide beach towel to the guest. The swimming pool could be better cleaned.
The hotel has the ideal location as it is situated directly on an endless sandy beach, the rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff is also very kind and helpful. We loved waking up late and being served our breakfast while enjoying the view over the Mediterranean! To sum up, it was a wonderful holiday experience and we would strongly recommend the Caretta Beach!
Pleasant, helpful staff. Clean rooms and grounds. Beautiful setting on the beach. Better than expected food at the pool bar. Convenient access to more touristic services within 10 minutes drive. Walk to many local restaurants yet hotel itself is quiet and peaceful Beach was windy and pebbly.
Cleanliness, location, helpful staff It would be nice if the kitchen was equipped with a kettle and toaster.
The hotel is clean, easy to reach, stuff friendly and helpful, close to the bus station. Apartments are spacious. Not enough parking places for a number of rooms. The internet was not working (which wasn't caused by hotel).
Two persons stayed in an 1BR flat for 5 nights. I liked the village and the position of the hotel which offers excellent accessibility to Chania and all other attractions and beaches of the area. Also the flat was spacious and bright. But, these are the only positive comments. 1. Over 20 years old central air-conditioning system with floor units, low performance, extremeley noisy, with vertical piping between the floors that gives home and access into the room to huge cockroaches (the worst problem). 2. Too many mosquitos, no way to open any window in the evening. An old grille that was fitted outside the blinds of the bathroom window, to protect from mosquitos etc., was destroyed and not replaced. 3. Stayed five nights and no change of towels or linen. 4. There was no warm water in the night or early morning, seemed to run out late in the evening. 5. Parking places very limited for the size of the hotel, three in front of the entrance and six in the underground garage (need to get out in reverse .!!!)
Nice location, good rooms and pool area. Excelent food. Friendly and helpful staff. We were there for 16 days and I hope that we will have the chance to do the same next year since we didn't manage to visit all the places of Western Creta that we planed to.
The staff were exceptional. Incredibly polite and extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
The people at the hotel was friendly. The room was very big and nice, convinient fridge and even though we stayed a very short time it was nice. There is a parking at the hotel which was convenient. Our room was above the pool and we could not sleep in the evening, very noisy. There was quite a lot of ants in our room. This hotel is good for people who want to stay at the same place and enjoy the pool.
Wonderful hotel. Very clean with a great staff (family owned and very friendly and helpful). All marble interiors and great large pool with a complete bar serving both drinks and food. Restaurant off to the side of the pool catty corner to the bar. Internet service available and a workout room. On main street of Meleme (easy to find) and close to the beach. All in all---good value for Euro dollar. Great base for exploring western Crete.
location of room near pool and restaurant too many steps on footpath
The Futura hotel is only a 25 minute bus ride from Chania; a great place to relax by the beautiful pool or a short walk to the beach. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant and bar and the owners' hospitality is amazing. The rooms were modern and very clean and even an enclosed shower. We liked everything
Breakfast: tasty, yummy & unique; not to be missed. Room: quite traditional. Restaurant: well maintained & aesthetically furnished. Good value for money. Location: great for visting Balos lagoon, Falasarna & the rest of W.Crete. Bathroom: needs improvement; water leaked during our stay. TV: old & v.few channels. Food@lunch/dinner: just ok; not great. Bar on location wasn't open.
Good position, easy way to reach Balos e Falasarna. Great confort and food. Quality/price ok.
The location is great, with a big terrace with sea view. The Hotel is also a restaurant conduced by Eftihia, with excellent food (don't miss "Goat with Honey" and "Meat Balls"). The breakfast was one of the best we've ever done (ask for "Kaliviani Breakfast", with delicious yogurt with honey, fruits, and other things). All the staff was incredible kind, specially Giannis who helped us with the strike gasoline problem. During our 4 nights, room was cleaned just one day and towels were not changed. If you are a couple, mind that they have only twin beds, that cannot be united without a gap in the middle. In any case, these problems were very little things compared to all the other positive things.
Courtesy of the staff and strategic location near the main beashes of the west coast of crete (Balos, Falasarna...). Very relaxing environment and typical greek style.
The location was superb in an unspoilt Cretan village. It was also close to the historic site of Falasarna, which was well worth a visit. Room was spacious with a pleasant balcony offering distant sea views. Bathroom needs refurbishing. Water was cold, as weather was not sunny and warm enough for solar heating, but hotel should make alternative heating arrangments.
Staff execllent, food varied, good quality and plentiful. Great pools for all the family. Nice quiet location, great for families with kids as everything was close. Rooms a little small for a family and need renovation. The animation team were ok, but could have been a little better esp. the evening show.
Lots of space, good swimming pools, all-inclusive Worn-off, noisy and crowded, poor catering
front desk staff was terrible.
Great value for the bucks -- overall awesome! I read a few negative reviews regarding the resort's rocky beach, but we found the rocks no hinderance and enjoyed it all the same. I also read that there weren't many other venues around, but we found that beachside boardwalk and other venues (behind/next to resort) there to be delightful. A truly wonderful holiday--many thanks!!
beach is not prepared as hotels facilities, a lot of rocks, only few beach umbrellas
Location- close to nice town Chania, but in the same time isolated from the street croud. Entertaiment was applicable for all generations. Sometimes, food was not tasty!
Staff courtesy and efficiency, great swimming pool complex, food plenty and of reasonable quality. Lounge and common areas climate control (air conditioning was available only in rooms and dinning areas), needs refurbishment in many areas, as most facilities are quite old, room service is an issue.
The staff was great!!! The smoking
The room was clean . The wait staff was very efficient. They don't turn the air conditioning on until June regardless of the weather. The temperature in our room was in the 80's. The food was very average and should be warmer.
there were activities thru out the day for children and adults; also evening activity for children and adults. kids LOVED it!
Amazing Hotel at the suburban of Chania in a great location at seaside with great surrounding pools everywhere almost in frond of every room !!! Parking in big parking area in frond of the hotel. Our room and bathroom was very clean and in a good size. Really polite stuff and good quality service. Good value for money.
the location The price for lunch was far to high for what we did receive.
terrible very expensive for what they offer
Great breakfast, very helpful staff.
Rooms a step away from the sea and very well cleaned The most smiling staff we have ever met in a hotel.
good and clean environment, pleasant swimming pool, good food and large servings at hotel restaurant, spacy rooms, attentive to the rooms by the cleaners Stinginess in toilet paper, nasty smell around the garden- dirty beach by the hotel
Bianca, the receptionist. She was delightful. We stayed at the hotel during a petrol strike and she was very understanding and helpful. Out of the way with very little else around the area. Long way from Plateneas.
The staff were invariably friendly and helpful. The ppol was always clean and it was very close to the beach. It was very remote and a warning that it would be difficult without personal transport would have been very helpful. Although we didn't eat dinner in the hotel, the buffet food looked very unappetising and overpriced. The hotel was incredibly difficult to find at 11pm with appallingly inadequate sign; we drove past it 3 times without seeing it.
staff were very friendly and helpful, prices of food items served was very reasonable the music played at the pool area was too loud
Size of 2bed appt and quiet location on beach
We were at Asterion in the last week of season and practically had the hotel to ourselves! The people at Asterion were very friendly & polite & helpful! Thank you! Please heat the pool!
It was quiet and exellent swimming pool and benks and the rooms very nice. no
Excellent host, extremely helpful without being pushy. Very nice surroundings. Nice rooms.
Swimming Pool, Flexibility, Hospitality Room Cleaning Rota, Lack of Meal Services
Stayed 4 nights. Sheets and towels changed once. Beds very uncomfortable (springs and only 5 inches high). Our sheets had a few tiny holes (old cigarette burns?) and so did the other party staying with us. Someone else's old filthy towel left in other parties room after cleaning. Towels on arrival and replaced ones had old stains on them. Not the kind of place you would want to hang around. Just ok if you have a hire car and can go out for the day.
The pool, the breakfastplace, the kindness of the staff
The price of the room and the friendliness of the owners and the room was lovely. It was very clean and was cleaned often, the pool was really nice and enjoyed my time there very much.
Very good value for money, very nice host, nice greeck style decoration
Friendly, clean and good value for money. Traditional style pension
that it was close to the beach; beautifully set out and the people who ran it absolutely gorgeous!!
nice and friendley staff
Very friendly welcome; pleasant surroundings; basic, traditional Greek rooms; good value for money; sheets and towels changed and room cleaned even though we only stayed 5 days; lots of information available about the area; lovely family atmosphere. Close to Chania for sightseeing. No
Hotel staff was nice and helpful, room was nice, quiet and clean. We certainly enjoyed our stay.
Value for money, clean. I would recommend this hotel if you want a place to stay in western Crete and want to visit the Chania area (very beautiful places around). We didn't like the fact that when we arrived there was nobody to help us take the luggage to the rooms and there was no elevator.
Friendly hotel with great service. Quiet location yet still convenient to road network. No fresh orange juice at breakfast
Very good hotel with a very good price, highly recommended! A lot of mosquitos, i don't know if they can do anything with that!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and pool/bar/restaurant terrace areas were lovely. Breakfast was good (although could do with more variety of fresh fruit). Rooms were large, clean and adequate (although the little kitchen could do with a kettle and maybe a microwave). Nice balcony and we had a lovely view of the sea. The hotel advertises that it has a gym (there's even a photo in their glossy brochure) but this is very misleading. The "gym" consisted of about 5 pieces of very old delapidated equipment - most of which didn't work.
Everything, especially the staff. Rose, our waitress, was absolutely wonderful. We can't wait to go back! The beds were a little uncomfortable, but this wouldn't deter me from going there again.
I liked its position, the view from the balcony The kitchen was scarcely equipped; at a rate of more than 80 euros per night one expects to be shown the room, to be explained how things work, etc.. but they simply took us to the room and bye; the fridge was disconnected when we arrived; they offered a free wifi access to customers with a laptop but there was no pc available to the public, which is strange since nowadays all hotels provide this service
For a a start, the name Balos Beach Hotel should not be applied to this hotel as it is located around 7 km from the famous beach (very misleading). No point of going there if you don't have a car. The road to the beach is a perilous dirt track on the cliff. The hotel did not offer food but it had a beautiful menu in the room. Breakfast which was not an option on Booking.com was offered to us for £7.00 after the lady said she had only toast. The nearest village Kaliviani is 1km away with 1 tavern and lots of dogs and the nearest supermarket 5km away. 3stars???? The owner did not want to refund us the last night as we wanted to leave one day earlier, saying Booking.com would not allow it in their contract. It's a no go for me..
I booked a room with a private pool which has fantastic The personnel is uneducated and there almost no services. The food is terrible do not book a package that will include food it is better to select a Bed and Breakfast package.
good facilities, nice friendly staff breakfast was the same every day. expensive internet
nice room, and all instalations staff
The general family atmosphere for the hotel , the pool was fantastic and well organized .. The food was not so good both breakfast and dinner. The lady staff were so at all friendly.. The room that we stayed in had a broken toilet but we didnt report since we were there for a short time , and very untidy rooms..
