Friendly staff, and hostel layout. The living room and kitchen being far enough away from the bedrooms.
That there was nobody there for an hour to let us in when we arrived.
The staff was super friendly - they gave a lot of recommendations about what to see in the city. The room was tidy, with nice view. The atmosphere of the hostel is extra warm and the common room is very comfy and suited for long conversations with newly found friends. The kitchen is well equipped and there is even free home-made mint tea.
There were only two bathrooms, however, they were still enough as the hostel is not too big.
The staff here were the best. In all the places I've stayed on this trip, this hostel was the most sociable of them all with the staff in the centre of this happy vibe. They spoke excellent English with excellent knowledge of the area, great tourist advice and it was clear that their first priority was the guest experience. The hostel itself was in a pedestrianised expensive shopping street accessed via a courtyard behind the shops. The area felt very safe. Rooms were spacious with plenty of places to sit in the communal areas. I've already recommended the Monk's Bunk to others who were heading for Kaunas.
A decent safe shopping area, but a bit of a trek to the old town.
Perfect location, with good bars and restaurants nearby, and a short walk to the old town. Friendly and helpful staff.
With only two bathrooms, queuing was common.
It was a pleasure to stay in Monk's Bunk and thanks to Paul! Apart from that, met really nice people as the atmosphere is great. They don't have breakfast, but offer good discount in good bakery downstairs. Very well located and clean.
