What are the pros of staying at Blue Ocean Hotel?
Nice big rooms and very clean. The staff is very friendly. Great location and very helpful team. Perfect location for restaurants and boats trips. The staff here were the best. Extremely friendly and very helpful. Great size room with sea view is a must when staying here. The staff is extremely friendly as well. Amazing stuff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Location: walking distance to harbour, restaurants etc. Room was spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable.
What are the cons of staying at Blue Ocean Hotel?
Road side rooms are noisy. And my friends room under me got leaked. The AC never got very cold and the bed wasn’t very comfortable. The lobby is on the second floor because downstairs is a warung so a bit confusing but otherwise okay (can't recall seeing a lift). The facilities are dated and need an upgrade. Shower glass divider had a crack which was fixed with tape. The only thing that was a little annoying was that the street gets a little noisy at night. The entrance is 2 flights of steep stairs so getting 2 x 30kg cases up them was hard but the staff came and helped a bit. Pipes in the bathroom were a bit smelly, but it's standard for a lot of places.
What practical information should I know about the hotel's location?
Everything for the tourist is within walking distance so you can't complain about the hotel location. Perfect location for restaurants and boats trips. The location was excellent, very central. The location is fantastic. Right in the middle of a very happy “happening" street. The harbour is walking distance as are several party places and shops. The location is good in front of the Labuan Bajo Port and the main road.
What are the dining options and food quality at Blue Ocean Hotel?
The breakfast was good with a great view. The breakfast was okay but not the choices listed on Booking.com so a bit disappointing. The breakfast is basic but yummy. Breakfast on the rooftop was nice and had drip coffee. Breakfast was ok. Good address for one night before visiting the numerous sites in Komodo. The toilet was a bit smelly but clean. During my stay, the internet was not working most of the time. The tv is also not working.
What are the hotel's cleanliness and maintenance like?
The room was clean, large and cool. The room was a bit dirty and the toilet smelled very bad. The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was comfortable. The room is big and clean. The room is big and so is the balcony. The room was in the upper level and the stairs are steep. The staff helped me move my luggage up to my room, but I had to move them down by myself. The room needed little fixing and shower water pressure was very low. The bad plumbing on the toilet smelled so strong we couldn’t sleep. We run away after one night!

Opt for a Room with Sea View
Guests highly recommend choosing a room with a sea view and balcony to enjoy the beautiful scenery and avoid noise from the street.
Consider Noise Levels
Roadside rooms can be noisy, especially for light sleepers, so consider requesting a room away from the street to ensure a quieter stay.
Check Room Cleanliness
Some guests reported issues with room cleanliness, including stained towels and sheets, so it's advisable to inspect the room upon arrival and request a change if necessary.
Be Mindful of Mosque Proximity
The hotel is close to a mosque, and the call to prayer may be audible, so light sleepers should consider this when choosing a room.
Note Bathroom Conditions
Several guests mentioned issues with bathroom cleanliness and functionality, so it's recommended to check the bathroom upon arrival and request a change if needed.
Consider Room Facilities
Some facilities, such as the shower and TV, may need maintenance, so it's advisable to inquire about the condition of these amenities before booking.
Be Prepared for Stairs
The hotel is located on the second floor, and there may not be a lift, so guests with heavy luggage should be prepared to climb stairs to reach the reception and their rooms.
Check for Room Upgrades
Premium rooms may have better amenities and fewer maintenance issues, so it's worth considering an upgrade for a more comfortable stay.
Manage Expectations for Breakfast
While the breakfast location offers a lovely view, some guests found the breakfast options to be limited compared to expectations, so it's advisable to anticipate a simple breakfast.
Address Any Maintenance Issues Promptly
If encountering any maintenance issues during the stay, promptly notify the staff to seek resolution and ensure a more comfortable experience.
