We spent three nights at Sak Nok in order to visit Yaxchilan and Bonampak ruins. The driver was excellent and complemented our visits with his own sensitivity. We were the only guest at Sak Nok and enjoyed the spacious room and bathroom. The room had windows all around, fan and mosquito net over the bed; the ceiling space though interconnects with the corridor and adjacent room.
The camp is run by two teenagers chalenged at communication: found out the last day the location of common room, best place to swim (natural river spot with cascade 2.5 km from base camp) and that credit or debit cards were not accepted minutes before leaving. The outdoor dining is 5 minutes walk on a path through the jungle. Homemade food is prepared and served by a local family at a reasonable cost; bring a flashlight or cell. Internet is only available at dining? Facilities overstated and overpriced for what they provided.
Kind staff, trying their best to help out. This is a jungle experience, so you need to forget about the comforts of a city hotel. Actually, there are quite some facilities that are working fine: wifi, hot water,...
The rooms are not perfectly isolated. As a result, light in the main hall is visible in your room. This is also true for noise. Finally, I didn't like the fact that the booking.com account of this hotel is managed by an external agency. They do a very poor job of answering questions (couldn't give me an address for my GPS) and make it very difficult for you to confirm your reservation (you need to make an advance payment to pay for the agency's commission).
