As one of Walt Disney World’s original hotels, the Polynesian, or Poly, has a rich history and is incredibly popular with Disney fans. Disney resorts are all family-friendly, but with an amazing pool area, kids’ club, and large rooms that sleep a family of five, The Poly exceeds expectations.
Located on the northwest side of Walt Disney World, the Poly is connected to several Disney resorts, including the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary, via the resorts ultra-convenient location right on the monorail line. The monorail and ferry also offer transportation to Magic Kingdom, and a short walk to the Transportation Center, which offers rides to Epcot. Traveling to other parks requires a short bus ride.
The Poly is considered a village because of the sprawling layout compromised of 11 longhouses, the Bora Bora Bungalows, and the Great Ceremonial House. There are many on-site amenities, ranging from a grotto pool that features a 40-foot tall volcano and 140-foot-long waterslide, a white sand beach with recreation, an outdoor playground, and a 24-hour video game arcade.
There are three kid-friendly restaurants in addition to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Kona Café, Captain Cook’s, and ‘Ohana are the on-site restaurants offering something for everyone. Plus, the Spirit of Aloha dinner show is extremely popular. For fine dining, the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary are just a short monorail ride away.
The rooms are a huge advantage to families because they sleep up to five people, more than most Disney resorts. They have recently undergone a big renovation in terms of design. Plenty of sleeping space, places to sit, a desk, and furnished balconies are great features for families at the resort.

Cons (-) Our room was in the farthest building from the main lobby area (Great Ceremonial House). Was a bit of a walk to get there, but it was a nice walk.
