Great views and facilities Parking on the higher levels was annoying
I stay at Hyatt Trinidad very often and from the first time til now, the service went from great to the best ever in Trinidad. At Hyatt Trinidad you get the best service from entrance, then you check in and the staff behind the counters are perfect. So, from the bell boys at the front to the check in staff and the house keepers, one word, AMAZING! This time around, I got the best service ever from Triciah. She was beyond perfect and should be awarded "Employee of the Year". She assisted us from check in to getting to our room. I also had a housekeeper who I swear was my own personally. Wish I had her name because she too deserves to be highlighted. The staff at the buffet deserved all my change for tips. I never received such over the top customer service Trinidad. When I'm at Hyatt Trinidad, I am welcomed with the greatest warmth ever. I wish Hyatt Trinidad would go around the island and teach other businesses what customer service is truly about. Absolutely nothing
I also made a booking with Kayak, front desk staff couldn't find the reservation..said I didn't have one. I showed my paid confirmation email, and forwarded it to the staff...and they still charged me for the room! Twice... Now I'm filing a request for reimbursement with my credit card company... What a hassle! Would've stayed elsewhere if I knew it would be so complicated for them!
The entire staff are some of the friendliest, most helpful people you'd want to meet. Always service with a smile and give great advice on places to visit and things to do; as well as give great directions. The place felt clean, safe and comfy. You'll love it!! Unfortunately this isn't the beachfront style property we're used to on vacation. But it was close to just about everything else you could want to see and do. Plenty of historic sight-seeing (although many currently going through renovations), zoo and botanical garden nearby, short drive to downtown, malls and a strip of restaurants and bars. Plus an adventurous drive through the mountains to spectacular Maracas Beach.
The staff was the worst staff I have ever dealt with. They told us we had no reservation and that the confirmation email I had from kayak (which was prepaid) was not sufficient. They also made me make a collect call to the kayak.com confirmation line which had me on hold for 40 minutes while they (hilton staff) tried to find appropriate fax numbers and email address. I was very disappointed with the staff. They also wanted to charge me again and were extremely rude in handling the mix up. In contrast the kayak.com staff was VERY helpful and patient with the rude staff at the hilton trinidad/tobago
Love the view from my room..staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool area needed cleaning...went to the restaurant about 12:30 pm to get something to eat and there was no one there to help us only a chef and she was clueless. ..she went to the kitchen or wherever to get a server...we waited for about 20 minutes then left because she never came back...
Stay at Kspok was a breeze. From check in to checkout was seamless. Staff was very helpful and professional. Access to recreation and urban areas ideal. Only drawback, isles were a little narrow.
I was only at the Kapok for one nite and booked last minute and I couldn't have had a better experience at Kapok. When I arrived, they were warm and welcoming and gave me a complimentary upgrade to a King-sized bed. I slept diagonally and like a baby. the next morning I had a meeting at noon and they happily gave me an xtra hour so I could take my meeting in private and then check out at 1. there was also Kava restaurant in the lobby which is a cool little place. it is also located very close to the Savannah and a strip mall area with many shops. highly recommended. wish I could have stayed longer!
Good common spaces, ie, court yard, lounge area I wish it had a complimentary breakfast. Also, it would be nice if the complimentary coffee was available after 6 am.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was not a full service hotel, so when you order food from the restaurant, they did not have room service. Had to pick up food myself.
The hotel was very clean, staff was very friend and made sure all of our needs were met & the hotel is convienetly located right next to a plaza with a shopping mall, many american favorites such as cold stone, starbucks, ruby tuesdays, a movie theater, popeyes, burger king.
I have stayed at the hotel quite a few times and never had a problem with the facility/staff members! very convenient!!
The friendly staff No
In early February 2012, I had the opportunity to visit Trinidad for the first time. I decided on this hotel because of the favorable reviews on this site, as well as others. I truly enjoyed my stay, and if I'm blessed to return, I will stay at the Marriott again. By the way, the hotel is across from the stadium; therefore, it could be a little noisy. However, I did not mine the noise. I was just glad to be there.
Proximity to the airport. Small swimming pool and gym. A little difficult to find the access road to the hotel. No shopping or dining options nearby. Breakfast was mainly continental: juice, toast, yogurt, cereal and pastries (not available both days).
the location, the airport shuttle and the room was amazing!
Very close to the airport. Free shuttle was reliable and quick. Security was good. All the staff were good, friendly and working hard No bar!
Enjoyed the breakfast. Room key stopped working each time we left and went back to the room. The safe in the room stopped working so we had to call for service to get our things out.
Convenience to airport. Front desk staff
Proximity to airport, cleanliness No bar or restaurant, only very limited snack machine.
Amazing location, complimentary breakfast, and complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and mall were highlights to this hotel! The hotel is kid friendly; both my 9 year old and I highly enjoyed our stay.
Clean. Front desk very helpful.
Location and staff
The fact that there was shuttle bus pickup and drop off The fact that even though I bolted and locked my door, it was pushed hard and opened from the outside by someone. The noise woke me up and when I checked I found my door opened. I closed it and barricaded it with the room furniture. My room was 107 .

EXCELENTE HOTEL MUY LIMPIO, LA COMIDA RICA Y VARIADA, NOS LLEVARON AL MALL GRATIS. TODO ME GUSTO
The lobby is pretty ( although it has the same stench the rest of the hotel does). The shuttle service from the airport was fast because it is adjacent to the airport. It has a lot of potential as the hotel boasts many unique but everything appears to have been poorly kept and deteriorating. I stayed at the Regent Star for Carnival Monday and Tuesday 2016. I booked online last minute and paid $450/ night since the hotel stated they only had 1 room available. All of the other hotels were sold out and had no availability so although Regent Star was not my first choice, I did not think I had other options. The Regent Star's advertisement of only having 1 room available was a scam. The hotel was mostly vacant. By day 2 I knew I was the foreign fool who fell for a trick. There were actually approximately less than 10 guests total, I only saw three other guests both days and they were business travelers and one other masquerader. The hotel is NOT in Port of Spain as was advertised and is about a 30 minute commute away. Additionally for $450, the hotel did not provide anything but towels. The shuttle to POS left at 9am and stated that it was only able to come back at 2pm! I was the only person on the shuttle since no one else really was in the hotel. They told me I would have to catch a cab back if I was not ready by 2pm and I would have to call them by 1pm to even secure the shuttle. Anyone tourist who has been to carnival knows that 1) you will miss out on the heart of the parade if you leave at 2pm and 2) making calls during this time is virtually impossible. A few ladies at the front desk were actually kind, however the staff was overwhelmingly unhelpful and some were downright rude. Customer service is not of any standard here. No one even uttered a single "good morning", "good evening" or "welcome" during my stay. The food in the restaurant was extremely overpriced. The top floor was chained off and scary looking. Most of the shrubbery and foliage surrounding the property was dead (minus the ones highlighted in the pictures). I actually looked out my window and viewed a plant graveyard. How do you kill all of those plants in beautiful tropical Trinidad? I think that overall, this hotel just takes advantage of any unwitting tourist or the tired business traveler who is not familiar with Trinidad. On the third day I checked out and went to the Hyatt, I was finally treated decently. As a last insult the hotel located one of the cab services they used to take me to the Hyatt. The cab charged $240TT ($40 USD), I soon learned the going rate for that trip is $180 TT; some drivers will charge you a "local rate" and you wont even have to pay that much.
Location Not as advertised
