Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tastefully renovation historic property. Room was large, bed comfortable and pillows plush. Breakfast was decent as were the cocktails at the bar. Service was overall was friendly and capable.
Cons: My 2nd floor room at the back of the hotel looked into the roof of an adjacent building.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: TOP! THE BEST !
Cons: All is ok!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect - in downtown. Walking distance to many restaurants & sites. The hotel is absolutely perfect! The staff really kind too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excelsior Hotel is a renovated colonial building, furnished elegantly with good taste, clean, situated in the old (British) center of town, just around the corner from Sulé Pagoda. If you are looking for a place to escape crowdy, damp and bad smelling downtown Yangon, this is it.
Cons: The breakfast is perfect, but the restaurant offers nearly exlusively international food of not exceptional quality and overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything... Each and every thing a traveller could visualise.. Service, style, comfort, politeness, room size... Old world charm, luxurious toilets... Truly one of the most memorable stays.. Despite my hectic business schedule, I relished each and every aspect of this property. A la carte breakfast was another unique experience..
Cons: Perhaps, the only thing which slightly disappointed me was approach road from Sule Pagoda side, a bit narrow and crowded lane.. However, in evening this lane was quite less crowded and also I also learnt another approach from the KBZ bank building side.. That was quite good. Also, I realised that downtown Yangon overall is crowded and full of lanes so my initial disappointment faded considering what the property offered me during my stay there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. This an excellent hotel.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: All the staff is outstanding and the rooms have a hip design.

Pros: Staff was so nice and helpfull, thank you for your warm welcome! The room was super cozy, nice decoration, clean, and equipped with everything you may need!
Cons: As an advice I would just add some tea bags in the complimentary bar set, considering you have such good teas in your country ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Like everything about this hotel. Gorgeous rooms. Cute courtyard to drink a few cans of ABC in the afternoon when it gets too hot to walk around. Superb location, dead center. Just a few blocks away is Aung Mingalar, one of the best Shan noodles in town. Also Easy Cafe/Gentleman Roasters with elite coffee. Can walk to almost everything here in 30 mins or less, Schwedagon pagoda, the lake, Chinatown, downtown, train. Ultimately though, it is the staff that really makes this place great. No matter who you see, they are kind, helpful, warm, and friendly. As good as it gets. We ended up staying here twice on our return to Yangon, could not really imagine having a better experience anywhere else.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived late to the hotel after our journey from Bagan and the staff arranged a quick check-in, recommended somewhere for dinner and booked us a taxi so it was ready once we had taken our bags to the room. Incredible service - thank you!!!! Breakfast is amazing - so many options and good coffee.

Pros: Staff is generally helpful and tried their best to meet my needs .
Cons: Bathroom is very old. The view is really terrible The air con is goes hot and cold The staff is very green. They rushed out to ask me to ask me with the check out slip to almost not letting me leave the hotel just because I am taking my small luggage out. They should well know that I have another few more days to stay especially when the hotel almost very very few guests. I feel quite offended as it happened twice as they kept asking me if I have checked out before I leave the hotel in the morning g.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service was excellent.
Cons: Location was not close to city attractions.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is by far the best place to stay in Yangon. Everything was flawless during our stay. Top notch service, great staff, beautiful hotel. Everyone went above and beyond. A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Tin Aye Khine, the guest relations manager/concierge. She was beyond excellent - there's nothing she can't arrange or provide. Truly one of the best concierges in the world. On a scale of 1 - 10, The Strand is a 20 !!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Strand offers the best you can ever expect from a distinguished hotel. We were pampered by our butlers and made welcome by all its attentive staff. And the beauty of the teak beams and marble floors and lacquered furniture... superb!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best hotel in Yangon! The service and level of details is incomparable to any other hotel I have been. This is really high standard on each level of service. We felt really welcome by the staff and the friendly hostess that guided us. It's quite special how they make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. And a special thanks for Mr. Tom at the reception and Ms. Suzy. We had 2 really good menus in their 2 restaurants supervised by Mr. Patrick Perié.
Cons: To stay only 3 days.......
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Love Love Love -Super friendly staffs -Room is big and very comfortable -Love the high ceiling -Decoration is very classic and elegant -Breakfast is superb
Cons: -Water in the shower room is NOT HOT
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great quality and ultra-spacious room considering its' a 100 years building. The butler and overall services was top-notch. We arrived at around mid-night but found out dental kits were not supplied. The hotel didn't have them but suggested to go out to buy for us. We declined as it's already very late. We planned to buy them our own next morning. When we went out for breakfast the next day, the butler was standing outside our room with tooth brushes in her hands. The breakfast was among the best À la cart breakfast I ever had. We were spoiled with choices every morning. (OTOH, the famous high-tea was nothing to write home about.)
Cons: Sound proofing issues. The hotel moved us to the most expensive Strand Suite in the first night because the guests next to our original room were super noisy. On the 2nd and 3rd night, we had another room facing the side street and didn't have any issue in getting into sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel with high ceilings and spacious room with table and 4 armchairs, floor -to-ceiling curtains with remote control, king-size comfortable bed, great service from the doormen to the cafe' and historic bar, butler service on our floor, gave us fruit and tea every day, froze our "blue ice" for our car rides, had excellent custom breakfast with good chef, overall this historic hotel was great. Nice pool and exercise room overlooking pool. Hotel manager stopped over several times to check on us, had a 5-course French dinner with French chef celebrating lobster.
Cons: Sometimes lack of hot water in the shower.

Pros: Amazing old historic building
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you’re debating spending the money - just do it. This place is fantastic. We were wowed from the moment we arrived. Booked the $25 saloon car transfer and our driver was waiting for us. He also duly waited whilst we got a local SIM card and local currency from ATM. The hotel is beautiful. We had booked a Governors Room as we wanted a balcony (pre requested as not all of these have balconies). The attention to detail maintaining this hotel is quite something. We had the “Tiffin Box” local cuisine tasting menu for dinner in the restaurant - what an absolute delight. The food is fresh and healthy. Completely recommend this. Salads like I’ve never tasted before. There’s something to do every day. Went on the complimentary “travel like a local” - market / train / bus / trishaw tour on day one. We were so lucky to arrive on a Sunday as this tour is just on a Monday - and it’s superb. Just fantastic. Had complimentary cocktails on the Tuesday with canapés and the GM. Used the spa - a wonderful rainy season promotion on for guests. We loved this place and are definitely going back. Highly recommend.
Cons: it was all fantastic
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet is incredible - amazing options. The fruit, the pastries, the cheese... wow. The staff couldn’t do more for you - nothing is too much. Our room was beautiful and immaculate. They made my birthday really special.
Cons: The restaurant was a little pricey - if you are staying here for more than a few days you will almost certainly have to head down town for budget friendly options.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room is clean and bed is comfortable. Fresh young coconuts are available at breakfast.
Cons: I like everything.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Decoration, location
Cons: Pool- had better clean more often
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant surprised by the upgrade, the complimentary daily activities (we took the circular train and got toured to local markets and tea shop), the croque balls, the massive pool, the free cookies. Staff went above and beyond to delight in expecting the unexpected and I cannot wait to experience belmond again somewhere else!
Cons: Too many mosquitoes in room and around property, was bitten a lot!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have travelled in Asia for the past 15 years. This small (only 49 rooms) hotel has a fantastic boutique ambience with a exclusive heritage / feeling. Restaurant, SPA, pool, property and service were “top notch”. Do not miss the complimentary activities such as cocktail evening and the guided trip on the railway!
Cons: There is unfortunately no gym, only minus.
9.1 Excellent
Cons: More taxis available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautful setting, fantastic service
Cons: Everything was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Old world charm. Great welcome and intimate service, lovely swimming pool and nice food. Just the way a hotel should be run.
Cons: No bath in our room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was interesting and there was enough variety for two mornings. Surroundings (especially garden) looked particularly beautiful in the monsoon rains.
Cons: Room was located in a shabby corner and showed signs of age. Hot water supply was intermittent, which is unacceptable for the price that you are charging.

7.9 Good
Pros: I think their breakfast should have been great but I have no time to test it since I had to run for meetings super early before breakfast time started. Location is super wonderful. I can even walk from Myanmar Plaza to the property. It will be great to stay here during other seasons like Summer and Winter time.
Cons: I hope owner will think about adding extra rails on to bed. It really is scary when they used thick comfortable mattress and no higher rail then I have to sleep with my back against wall since I slept upper bed. Afraid I will fall out from bed to wooden parquet floor. So cannot have deep sleep cause of fear.

Shwe Yo Vintage Hostel - Yangon - Building
8
9.0 Excellent (933 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Shwe Yo Vintage Hostel in Yangon (Yangon downtown), you'll be a 2-minute drive from Sule Pagoda and 6 minutes from Shwedagon Pagoda. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the location was perfect
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were very good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely family run the hostel. Each morning they cook a local breakfast option for you (you don't really get a choice on what you have for breakfast, this didn't bother us, the breakfast was delicious everyday - however, if you're not a fan of noodles or rice for breakfast then you may not be a fan). Good sized room. The hostel helped us book our night-bus to Bagan, they also organised us a taxi to the bus station (and organised it so we could share the taxi with another couple and split the cost). Great location to explore downtown Yangon.
Cons: We booked a double room, it had no windows in it, the bathroom was small (not the greatest shower, but it was OK), and if the ceiling fan in the hallway outside was on then it echoed along the beam and caused a drum like sound in the room - not an issue as long as you turn the ceiling fan off (but the switch for it is outside of the room, so anybody can turn it on). Not the cleanest accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Myanmar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location.
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Just the perfect location in Yangon : perfectly situated (in the heart of the city but in a calm street), genuinely nice staff, very clean place and nice rooms. We've stayed there when we arrived in Yangon and went back there to go back to France, we've been in the double room/the family room/dormitory and every one of these were perfect, spotless clean and very comfortable. Also, you can meet a lot of backpackers, so expect to spend some nice evenings getting and giving advice about Myanmar and its surroundings.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was yummy!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly towards us and made us feel very welcome. Always greeted us with a smile. Our bed in a private room was more comfortable than the majority of places that we have stayed during our travels in South-East Asia. They cook tasty food and helped organize our transport to the bus station. They provide you with water in the common area with tea and coffee also available. This is a great place to stay when you first arrive in Yangon.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is in the center of Yangon. Easy access to some popular places like Sule Pagoda, City Hall, and Mahar Bandula Park. I love their breakfast. They have a different dish every day. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable with curtains for your privacy which I liked. The staffs are nice.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful with booking our onward travels. Met some great people there to hang out with in Yangon.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: God breakfast, very, very nice and polite stuff
Cons: Small room but that is pretty normal in this area.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was first-rate. The free breakfast buffet offered many different options.
7.9 Good
Pros: location!
Cons: gym was not airconditioned, no sunbeds at the pool
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: A receptionist asked me if I need a room cleaning. I said NO. After I am back to my room in the hotel I found 150USD disappeared from a plastic bag. So I lost 150USD in cash because of cleaning service person stealing or negligence. Be aware to leave your money and other treasuries in the hotel!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A good location near the famous temple Shwedagon, the room was clean and they offer a good service and the breakfast was good.
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean room Staff Quiet area
6.7 Good
Pros: The best buffet breakfast we had among the three hotels from Bagan, Lake Inle and Yangon. Great varieties, nice restaurant, staff replenished food very fast. The only hotel covered the cut fruits. Room was ok, though it could be clearly seen that our double room was originally a twin room. The room really had a view to the temple, and it was just 10min walk to Shwedagon Pagoda North Gate, 30min drive from JJ Express Bus Station, and less than 1hr drive to airport (including some traffic time). We got late check-out at 2pm which was perfect for our flight at 5pm.
Cons: Staff were the least helpful among the three hotels we stayed (maybe it was comment at Yangon), and gave us very bad impressions. On our arrival, we had issues with the taxi driver on the fares as we did not have exact changes, and driver could not speak English at all. The hotel staff did picked our luggage but none of them tried to help us until I approached them and asked for changes of our notes. After getting rid of the driver, we were told by the reception girl with a bit annoying face that it was too early for check-in, which was fine as it was only 7am. We understand early check in was not always complimentary, though luggage storage service was not offered until we asked. Then we left after leaving the luggage and returned at 5pm in a rain. The first thing staff asked, before getting us the room key, was how would we settle the room rate, cash or card. We were wet, tired and full of stuff on our hands. At the end they did let us go to the room to settle down then went down to pay for the fees and arranged for late check-out. The next morning, we went out after breakfast and returned at 1pm preparing to check out, and we found the room key card was inactivated (well, as normal check out time was noon). So, we had to go down to the reception desk to request for activating the card. It seems the staff need some more training to learn to anticipate guests' needs and be a little bit more friendly and helpful. The room with the breakfast themselves were not bad however the impression from staff could not be worse as a highly rated hotel. This might simply due to the limited English ability of the staff, a tip is, smiling faces will make things much differently. In term of facility, the hotel has a roof top mini mini swimming pool, could tell that they have tried their best to fit in a pool in the building.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was nice and okay! Every day different breakfast and many choice! Friendly staff Very good bed!
Cons: Really nothing!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The best thing the staff. Always smiling and helping. Not to mention the room. It was very comfortable.
Cons: I dont think there is anything I can say that it was negative about this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly helpful. The rooms were very comfortable. Great location for visiting the pagoda
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super clean, comfortable hotel. Felt more like a 4 star. We loved the wooden interior. Beautiful rooftop with pool (which we did not get to try), spacious, tidy and well equipped rooms, the staff is excellent, breakfast choice varies every day and is a good mix between Asian and Western. Air conditioning works reliably, which is vital in Yangon. Complimentary water and hot drinks, plus a minibar in your fridge, which offers you a good choice of softdrinks as well as beer. The surrounding area is quiet and offers a good range of different restaurants, perfect location to visit the Shwedagon at different times of the day. Amazing price value. We'd stay at this place again without considering others.
Cons: The black coffee from the machine is a bit strong.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was very good
Cons: The breakfast. Quite poor
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed, linen and food
Cons: The room did not have a good view of the university campus with lots of greenery opposite which would have been great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, fine.
Cons: Onigiri (Japanese food) needs improvement in taste.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room, clean and comfort. Location was great, next to the big shopping center. I guess half way to downtown so no need to worry for transferring to the airport. Traffic was quite bad in Yangon so this is one of the factor to be considered.
Cons: Getting out from the elevator, need to take few steps of stairs to reach the room. In case if we have a large suitcase will not be suitable to carry up the stairs. Confused with the maze and can't find the elevator.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The pool is nice and the breakfast is ok.
Cons: The staff weren’t very friendly. The walk-in price is cheaper than the online price. It was overpriced and we feel cheated. Rooms weren’t very clean. The housekeeping staffs didn’t really made the bed properly. The bedsheets were crumpled. They don’t give basic toiletries. They only give us the shampoo and lotion after we asked. Also didn’t give the complimentary water bottles. Bathroom weren’t so clean either. We found lots of hair on the bathroom floor. I don’t think this hotel meets the standards of the Novotel franchise. Also, The hotel was situated at a heavy traffic location.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and provided very good services. Nice swimming pool.
Cons: Location is quite a bit far from city center. Nothing to do around the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff could not be more helpful, taking a huge amount of bags to our room (we were leaving Yangon after 4 years of living there). The hotel is increasingly developing plastic free and more sustainable practises, jugs of water in rooms, water dispensers, paper straws, battery recycling. Thanks for an awesome stay.

Cons: There is children policy in the lounge - at first we weren't allowed to get a room with lounge facility but they allow special treatment for my 3 yo and 6 mo to continue with our booking and use the lounge since we only stay for one night (though we have to keep our kids quiet in the lounge)

Cons: Nothing to dislike about this hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. The location was quiet and lots of trees outside which was nice. Facilities in the room were reasonably good.
Cons: Was disappointed that they emailed me asking to upgrade the room to a premium room with a view of the pagoda but the room they gave me did not have a pagoda view. They didn't charge me the second night when I mentioned this but then using a few small items from the mini bar cost nearly as much as the savings anyway. I expect mini bars to have markup but not 6 or 7 times retail. Overall was too costly for what was on offer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff made this stay simply amazing for us. Always had a smile. The rooms were comfortable with great showers. The massage at the new spa was the best I’ve ever had. The breakfast was lovely and our happy hour cocktails in the Verander Bar were great! thank you to everyone.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast gave many alternatives. Also Japanese and Chinese food. The pool large and not so hot. Close to center and Schwedagon Pagoda. Service minded staff. Lots of staff. Nice Burmese Steakhouse opposite.
Cons: It took too long time to get a beer at the pool. Otherwise nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is wonderful. One of the best buffets anywhere. Staff are so helpful. The chillie omelette is out of this world, as is the mango shake. Also, the happy hour have wonderful staff. It was quiet season, so a bit more quiet than usual, but the help and attention to any requests was superb. This is a well run hotel with smart and obliging staff and it does not feel like it is "pretend" - they're just very warm, hospitable staff who have been very well trained in all aspects of the jobs they do. Also the washing and ironing is of the highest possible standard.
Cons: I can't single out a thing that needs attention.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Terrific selection. Everything well done. Clean. Attentive staff. The omelettes were wonderful.

Pros: The staff are friendly
Cons: The photo on booking.com is does not represent the actual hotel. They blame booking.com. The bed was the worst i have slept in when traveling. False advertising on satellite tv which was non existent. The place is not worth the stay, pay extra and get what they advertise.
