Pros: Location,Staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I used to snort at people with their list of "must go places in their lifetime", but after staying here, this has become one of the closest thing to a "Must go list" in my mind. Conclusion: if you upset your girl somehow, and she doesn't accept your apology, bring her here, ask for her forgiveness after a good dinner and bath. Ultimate guide to how to apologize properly. Anyway. Great food, great wine selection and liquor in the room. Nothing that I could complain. Some of the turnips were a bit spicy, but that's personal taste, and we DO have excellent white radish in Taiwan, so... Yeah. Breakfast was satisfying, dinner was great, and the Crème Brûlée was perfect. I also very much enjoyed the Apéritif and the Sherry they provided in the room. The room was also very comfortable with a wonderful view. The next door neighbor and I visited each other, and his room looked awesome as well. A very comfortable bath tub and shower (though the water did spray out a bit in the showers), and the soap and shampoo they provided was also very good smelling. The only thing I regret was not staying long enough to enjoy the hotel to it's fullest. PS. I don't have a girlfriend. So the apology part, take it at your own risk, eh?
Cons: If I had to nitpick, it was the shower pouring out a bit that resulted in wet slippers, and the temperature of the water fluctuated a little bit. Also, it's a long way up the hills towing a luggage almost half my weight. With slippery stone and everything... But hey, it's a castle. It's not meant to be in the middle of the town. So... no. No major issues
Gasthaus Weingut Stahl - Oberwesel - Bedroom
2
9.4 Excellent (176 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Gasthaus Weingut Stahl in Oberwesel, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Falkenau and Pfalzgrafenstein Castle. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we stayed on our trip. The family Stahl were AMAZING. We had biked/cried/climbed the monster hill to get to their place and were exhausted. They welcomed us with open arms, carried our things in, and expedited check in so that we could shower and still order food before the kitchen closed. Throughout the stay, everything was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and homemade. The neighborhood was beautiful, too. Highly recommend to all drivers and bikers (but only the ones more athletic than we were).
Cons: This place is built on top of a hill. When they say Rhine Valley, well, this is not the valley. This is the nice hill overlooking the valley. So, lovely bike rides down the hill. Less fun climbing back up the hill. Still, the scenery was gorgeous and I think we'd do it again, we liked it THAT much.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast and dinner. Really enjoyed the wine tasting in the cellar. Many delicious wines
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, spacious rooms. But so much more important at this establishment was the food. Dinner was delicious and pleantyful. I defy anyone to attempt two courses. Breakfast was exceptional, several tables were laid out with a vast choice of food. I really couldn't do it justice after having dinner.
Cons: Perfect, no problems at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful quiet place, a wonderful break from the usual tourist crowding and commotion. The food was excellent. The breakfast was amazing. The wine tasting in the cellar is an experience not to miss.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay and everything exceeded our expectations! The guest house was recommended to us, and we heard all about the wonderful breakfast. Breakfast certainly lived up to expectation. We were made to feel so welcome by all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality. Delicious breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice area, clean room, nice garden/restaurant, very service-oriented staff, superb breakfast (Danke Krista)
Cons: No airco, fortunately there was a fan in the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved absolutely everything about our stay at Gasthaus Weingut Stahl. The location is wonderful - away from all the train noises in the villages along the Rhine. Our rooms were fantastic, and were spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were modern and well equipped. Breakfast was simply amazing, and Krista, our hostess, kept forcing us to try her home-made cakes (for breakfast!!). We ate dinner out on the deck both nights and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Paul serves his brother's wines, and encouraged us to head down to the cellar for tastings. We could not fault this hotel, and would heartily recommend it. It would be best to have a car if you are staying there however.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We were given a warm welcome and shown to a lovely large room which was very clean. The hotel is a lovely mix of old and new. The Bedroom we had was fresh and modern, while the dining room was more in line with a old traditional Farm House. The evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was exceptional. Huge variety of friut cakes savories both hot and cold. We cannot fault this guest house. full marks

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location with beautiful views
Cons: Very noisy room - could hear returning guests and paper thin walls
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location at the old castle.
Cons: Charging guests additional €6 to visit the castle seems excessive. The little town close by has very little to see or do. Noise from trains and road traffic is quite distracting and disturbs your sleep. Using the supplied ear plugs is not something I look forward to when staying at a hotel.

Cons: Needed an elevator access to room on top floor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice meal and quiet ambiance at the hotel. And fun to explore the castle/museum grounds adjacent to the hospital.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely wonderful. We were greeted by a very friendly lady at the front desk and then an absolute angel was going to take us to our room. We were talking about our trip to Europe winding down and how we were celebrating our 30th Anniversary about 6 months late due to some circumstances beyond our control. She excused herself for a moment and said she would be right back. When she came back she had upgraded us to an amazing room and truly blessed us more than she knows. Our upgraded room had wonerful amenities and an amazing view of the castle and river. The facilities were fantastic and we really enjoyed the breakfast as it had plenty to choose from. The castle was great to tour and we couldn't be happier.
Cons: Everything was wonderful. The parking is probably the only thing they might look into.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love this special feeling of what is called "Rhine Romantic " and this place appears to be the essence of it. The place, architecture, the age, the informality but excellence of service, the great food in the restaurant with traditional touch, wonderful experience.
Cons: no dislikes, nothing worth to mention, from the moment we opened the door we could feel that it's a good place
6.7 Good
Pros: The location of this hotel was premium and so lovely to walk around the old town. We were able to get some incredible pictures and videos. So appreciative of the townsfolk.
Cons: You can only check in until 9pm. It was difficult to get there from Nuremburg due to many traffic accidents and the way our GPS was directing us. Five hours in the rain along uncertain roads. We attempted to contact the management, and even had someone at the restaurant call and advise we would not be there until 10:30p. Upon arrival I had to deal with a curt, angry person, which really put a damper on our vacation. I didn't need that kind of stress. In the end, she charged us another 20 euros for late check-in.

Pros: This is such a lovely, friendly, family run hotel. Our room was at the back, overlooking the vineyards so we didn't hear the trains. Lorch was a lovely town with a lot of restaurants to pick from. We ended up having our best meal on our trip so far at Lorch. The breakfast at the hotel was also lovely.

Cons: Nothing, very happy

Pros: Had a nice tiny garden we could reach from our terrace. Everything in the room was newly renovated. Vending machines with all you need. Parking lot just outside the hotel
Cons: The door and walls are absolutely not soundproof, you can hear everything little thing guests are saying in the hall way, I could even here the hydraulic system as in one room they were taking a shower. Needless to say I was not well rested

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a peaceful area. We had a large comfortable bed and a good shower. There was a large garden equipped with sun loungers and outdoor furniture where you could relax and read after a hard day's sightseeing and enjoy the lovely view. Our hosts were very friendly and did their utmost to make us comfortable and welcome. Our host was also the chef in the restaurant, which was especially good, and we enjoyed exceptional meals here. He also spoke fluent English.
Cons: The hotel is a little way outside of Oberwesel and uphill and although you could walk down to the town you really need a car to get you back up to the hotel unless you are very fit! We did not find this a problem as we were using our car anyway to visitl the other villages on the Rhine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff, excellent food! Faultless
6.3 Good

5.0 Okay
Pros: 1 lady of the staff is very friendly and tried to look after everyone. They food is nice. The backyard-area is quiet big.
Cons: Service is a disaster. Totally understaffed and therefore: Waiting as a standard. Unfriendly and not at all obliging. Booked room with balcony - but the answer when I checked in: "this room does not exist!". Sure to had breakfast included - but somehow, it was gone when checked at the hotel. Maybe my fault. BUT: We went to the breakfast (with still 1 hour to go) - yet, everything was gone. No eggs, only 3 slices of cheese, only 1 sort of bread, coffee sitting on the stove for 3 hours ... an absolute no go for this price.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and good service!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I couldn't get over how big the room was and it had everything you could need. Tea/coffee facilities, soaps, shampoo, moisturisers were all supplied. You could help yourself to beer and wine from the fridges and just pay at time of checkout. And while it wasn't mentioned in the hotel facilities the pool area should be finished and ready for guests any day now.
Cons: Not that we didn't like it just took a bit to get used to the fact it is located in a business park area. Not the normal location for accomodation but it worked fine.

Pros: The hosts were very friendly and helpful in explaining everything. Location was awesome, right in the center of town. Breakfast was delicious.
Cons: The shower is quite small, especially if you're tall. We had to park down the street and dragging luggage down the street wasn't much fun.

Cons: the staff/ owner was very rude in my opinion. they are very strict, in my breakfast I asked hot water refill for my tea 2 minutes before 10 and they refused to give me and saying that they already told us that the breakfast time is 8 to 10. they always use excuse that they already told us before and asking things make me feel like fool.. the lady also keep complain if you make a mistake or ask for the same thing the checkout time is too early they don't provide shower gell the towel not very clean

Pros: Cute room, nice bathroom, great view onto main street. Hosts were friendly and the breakfast was perfect!
Cons: There is no air conditioning and there was no fan available. It was during a heat wave and 100 degrees. The windows all had to remain open all night and there was constant traffic on the road below us so it was noisy.

Pros: We had a couple of nightsto fill inonour German trip so, upon the advice of friends.decided to spend them inBacharach. Just 30 or 40 minutes from Mainz, depending on train taken, which itself is a second train of 17 to 30 minutes from Frankfurt airport. The Hof was a great selection. We had a very roomy suite #31 with a very large and modern bath. The hosts spoke excellent English and were remarkably warm and welcoming. The hot and cold breakfast selections were worth every penny. We also had dinner here one night and it was excellent! We would highly recommend this hotel for a 2 night stay, not longer as there are limited activities and have given them a rare 10.
