The rooms were very nice and clean. The pillows were small and not fluffy enough.
Comfy bed. Ok food. Out of order door
Good people and very comfortable. Lack of security in parking area.
Rooms comfortable, clean. Breakfast included. Pool looked nice. Breakfast very basic. TV on dresses to side of bed making viewing awkward. Location not interesting.
Rooms clean, staff helpful. Continental breakfast is amazing TOP 5 in the country!. If I'm in the area again will certainly stay again. Had issue with keys card working with card reader on side door. But worked after 4 or 5 trys.
Convenience to interstate and any necessary shopping for travel Cont Breakfast is ok to good. Staff has always been friendly and professional I stay at this hotel a couple times per year. My parents are snowbirds from upstate NY and I drive them down and visit them in FL. This is the stop I make after 12 hours or so of driving which only leaves me with 8 hours the next day. I have always been happy here. However this time the room left alot to be desired. Toilet had a major leak between the tank and the bowl. One that just couldnt be missed, it left massive flooding on bathroom floor. Granted not sewage but just the same unpleasant. There were no tissues in any dispensers either. We got in so late I was to tired to call up front and complain or switch rooms. We left 10 hours later anyway. I alerted the front desk at checkout. I will still comeback to this hotel this was just one bad experience.
Clean rooms, clean hotel Area looked shifty. Im a smoker and I had to go outside and I saw some sketchy things and people in the parking lots. Maybe they were customers also but they looked suspicious. I would have been better on the 2nd floor where there was actually a balcony patio. The 1st floor has a patio doors but it's really not accessible.
The hotel was clean and well decorated. The staff was friendly and breakfast was good. 10/10
The lobby was very clean, check in staff was super friendly. I liked that there we're several entrances so I didnt have to walk very far. The beds were clean and soft and the towels were in good condition. Room was clean as well. Rate was reasonable for the area
First, I hope everyone in South Carlina has gotten through the mind boggling relentless storms that have battered the area. This hotel is a relatively short ride, mostly by highway , to USC. Price was reasonable being the many of the downtown Columbia hotels certainly work the supply and demand factor to the max on Parents weekend. Hotel has a nice outdoor pool and indoor hot tub. Breakfast was decent but nothing beyond standard. Hot and cold cereal, waffles, yogurt, etc. Bed was comfortable and employees were friendly and helpful. Walmart across street. Does seem to be in a good area. Were housing some construction workers who had stored some of their items outside their sliding doors making it appear like shanty town from the parking lot. Otherwise outside presentation was fine. Hallways were extremely warm and damp. AC in first room sounded like a freight train. Second room it was quiet and comfortable. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel when taking all factors into account.
The maintenance man was very helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. Original room key didn't work. In the room, TV didn't work. Changed rooms, the room was smaller with no chair and very cramped. Saw bugs in bedroom and bathroom.
Belgium waffles was the best part of the trip. Staff very courteous Curtains were ripped. Screen door was ripped off. Coffee machine was a hazzard waiting to happen, button was missing and exposed electrical wires. Pillows were small, bed not comfortable. Holes in towels. No vents in the bathroom
Location Old, dirty, creaky floors, rusting hinges, noisy, etc. The housekeeping staff (and using that term for them is a stretch) was the rudest, kst inconsiderate I have ever encountered.
Definitely worth the stay. Updated rooms in old historic building.
good workout facility hard to get a hold of staff TV reception horrible
Location I entered the property with s ankle injury and soft cast. While in shower I held onto hand hold bar and it collapsed and fell apart with large metal peices falling onto my leg creating tremendous pain Unbelieve you would approve a room for rental in that shadow.
The help the staff was able to do or the suggestion if they could not It could use a little bit better maintenance team
Location Rusty towel bars; unexpected stay in poorly designed handicap access room; unique bar (in old bank vault) closed; ice machines on 4 floors inoperable; laundry chute door left open with no staff anywhere around making us glad we didn't bring our children with us. Will never stay there again.
We really liked the atmosphere and the friendly staff. They made our stay very comfortable. The farmer's market on Saturday morning was a special treat with many great food options.
Stop by the rooftop bar at sunset for the best view of Columbia.
Valet was pricey for Columbia
Valet was great , very prompt and courteous. Overall bad experience.Staff not personable. Room very cold and not very clean,(found hair in bath tub) Valet staff very nice. Breakfast room service disappointing. I will not recommend to friends and family
The staff was very nice, and the bed was wonderful! Rooms very clean Parking was not included in the price of your room. Valet was $22 a night, or you could park your own car for $16 a day in the parking garage. We got in at two in the morning, so this was kind of a problem, as I decided to park at the meter due to the expense. Breakfast is not included in the price of the hotel, although there are several restaurants around the hotel.
This hotel has a ton to offer and the price is right
went to relax in indoor pool cause im disabled and could have some fun with family. and for two of the 3 days pool was down. broke my heart and families too only live an hour away but wanted to relieve/relax so pressure off back and actually get to play with kids. paid an incredible amount to stay was basically our vaction for the year cause cant afford another. Pool was down all day on two of the days. All management said you booked 3rd party and its out of our control . well thanks for nothing but heartbreak and depression setting in killing me inside literally. dont know how much longer i have on this earth to spend with my kids and wife, but this is not what i need mentally
We were in Columbia for a nephew's wedding and his parents reserved rooms and held their reception here. From the moment we pulled into the unloading area it was nothing but incredible service! Everything was immaculate, the food in the restaurant was great. Our room was impeccable! THe beds were so incredibly comfortable, with down matress pads and comforters, six pillows on each bed... Our son wanted a portable crib so we called room service and they brought us a Graco Pack-N-Play. It was perfect! In the middle of the night (around 1am), my husband was sick and we needed some cleaning supplies and they brought them right up. Then, at 4am, my son woke up and wanted some milk. The kitchen was closed and the doors were locked, but they opened it up to get us some milk and brought it to us. The reception was incredible as well. The food was delicious and again, the service was great! The parking garage is attached to the hotel through a breezeway and is convenient and it feels safe to have your car parked there. The pool is really nice but it was FREEZING cold. The spa was very nice, as was the gym facility! I will definately think of Marriott every time I'm in need of accomodations anywhere!
have been stayed twice in half year.Very friendly, helpful staff. The last time we checked in early, the room was not ready. We got free starbucks coffe coupon and free breakfast coupon.Room was ready in an hour when we were having lunch in the Center City Grille. We will def stay in there again!
Good accomodation downtown. I had arranged for a hotel shuttle to pick me up which turned into an hour plus wait. To their credit, the hotel comped me breakfast and apologized for the inconvenience. Cab fare from the Columbia airport is $25 plus tip...
We have stayed here twice and both times I was very pleased with the service as well as the hotel. They also now have a Starbucks downstairs!!!!!
As Marriotts go, this one is OK. The rooms are comfy & nicely decorated. The hotel is clean and offers convenient dining options. The concierge/front desk were quite satisfactory. At check-in, the clerk was confused about how I had made and paid for the reservation- which made my nervous. I had issues with my door key every time I needed to get into my room. No mini-bar; room service was late. Overall, quite comfortable and very convenient location. SMOKERS beware, though- you'll be going outside at all times of day and night.
I didn't want to leave the bed! The only problem was the shuttle to the hotel but the manager was great about making up for it!
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful Marriott while visiting our daughter at USC. From the moment we stepped out of the car, the bellman, Eugene, greeted us with his Southern charm. I can see why many guests stay at the Marriott in Columbia. With the exceptional service and great location, we will come back to this grand hotel several more times in the upcoming years!
Great view and convenient to local bars and restaurants.
Best staff ever, very welcoming and helpful! Best staff ever, very welcoming and helpful!
Courteous staff. Great valet parking. Rooms acceptable but not spectacular. Flat TVs would perk up the property. Nice bath products. Some excellent views. I've stayed in this hotel half a dozen times and it's usually a good value for the money.
I stayed here for a conference being held so my job payed the bill. Very nice hotel but pricey... The staff was very courteous. Both the restaurant and bar served good meals. The common areas were clean. Internet was not free nor was parking. The bed was comfortable and I was unable to hear anything outside of the room which is always a plus (the hotel was pretty full because of the conference). But I have stayed in as nice and nicer hotels for 3/4 of the price...
Breakfast is excellent with made to order omelets and waffles as well as a good selection of other foods. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Doors allowed hallway noise and light in even when locked. Breakfast shut down at 9am on Thanksgiving day and Black Friday. And when it shuts down, it's OVER! Even the coffee goes away!
Good location 1 o'clock in the morning the transformer and all of the electricity went out and made everybody evacuate the building And her around 4 o'clock they decided to let everybody back in but the power was not going to be fixed . So we had to get all of our stuff with no power to see on the top 9 floor to get another hotel which they said they would accommodate but they have not yet done so so I had to pay for two hotels and no sleep because I had to be up the same day at 7 o'clock so the time I got to the new hotel at 5 o'clock it was pointless trying to sleep . Hoping they will refund my money for the trip and the hassle of everything .
Staff were friendly. Lots of street noise. Sirens, train whistle. And long wait for shuttle.
Very nicely outfitted, high-quality hotel. Modern rooms and lobby. Beds are extremely comfortable and room/bathroom was impeccably cleaned. Entire staff is friendly and helpful. Great location in heart of city/USC campus. Very accessible with easy parking. This is where I will be staying every time IIn the area from now on. The price is extremely good for this level of service and accommodations. Literally not one thing.
We loved the location and the clean and beautiful rooms, but we loved courteous staff the most. They were very friendly and helpful. The parking. We had to park our car across the street in a parking deck.
Hillbilly feather pillows and comforter left down dander in the air of the room that kept my eyes red my entire stay. The room was noisy since it next to a night club that patrons talked loudly coming and going all night. Being close to the train tracks and hearing the train whistle all night didn't help either. Even though the staff removed the feather products it left the feather dander in the air, so I doubt I would stay there again.
Very friendly and accommodating. Had to check out a day early and manager credited account and thanked me for my stay. No hassles just friendly service. This is why I will return for all of my business in Columbia.
Pretty clean, A little dated! Staff kept opening my door before check out.
Breakfast was the best thing Cleanliness, was the worst ever. Bed had hair in it. Pillows had a bad smell. I call the front desk to have housekeeping come clean the room . She did nothing expect re make the bed. I own a cleaning company she would be fired.
No fitted sheet on our bed. They just put another normal sheet on top of the mattress pad. No closet or place to hang clothing in our room. Was not worth the money we paid.
friendly, competent staff; bit dated but comfy. didn't like the room divider that allowed light from the sink area into the sleeping area. bathroom door was nearly touched the toilet when opened - awkward. poor design.
We were visiting Columbia and wanted a clean, comfortable hotel. We were not concerned with whether or not the hotel had a lot of amenities, as we knew we would basically just be there at night. The hotel has been recently redecorated and all areas were clean and fresh. We were very happy with it and the location was good. Easy access to highways and to where we wanted to be. We wished that the breakfast had started earlier. We were getting up and going each morning before the breakfast started. The phone in our room did not work while we were there, even though we told the manager on the first night. This was not really a concern, though, as we did not really need to use it (just once to call the front desk with a question).
The location was ok. The towels were dirty, requested a blanket for the sofa bed and the receptionist didn't want to look for any. She stated that, she didn't THINK they had any blankets, so I had asked her do you mind checking for me please? Her attitude was awful ,I'm assuming bc she didn't want to do it.
I would like an extended stay rate. I'll be staying in a hotel for at least one month but when I asked the front desk if they had a discount for extended stays they said no.
Friendly staff, clean, great hotel for the cost.
I enjoyed the ease of the location while I was traveling through SC and it offered many attractions for food and needs of shopping or leisure. The staff of the hotel were nice, friendly and professional...and the hotel itself was clean and well cared for. Thank you. I would happily return for another stay.
This hotel had a good location near restaurants and felt clean. Breakfast was decent, offerings were as expected but attention to detail was apparent. Location was beside the busy highway and windows were NOT insulated well. Clearly was fairly recently updated, but not exactly well done. Bathroom doors were sliders and had no sound proofing at all, providing absolutely no privacy.
Great location. Complementary breakfast wasn't the best.very limited selection.
Large clean rooms, beautiful sensible layout. The location was great; very nice area walking distance to gorgeous scenery and restaurants and bars. There's a shuttle available, but we didn't need it.
All staff was very friendly in all manners. Would do the stay all over if could.
The beds were so comfortable, I wanted to take it with me ... I slept so good. The high pressure shower heads were awesome too. Also the rooms were clean and the staff was accommodating... The iron in the room was a bit used, leaked water and stain my white shirt
Staff was wonderful and pleasant N/a
Very comfortable, clean, quiet, with great service. I stayed here one night for a residency interview, and had a great experience.
pretty hotel. Things were nice and a perfect location. I was excited to stay there. My wife couldn't stay in our 5th floor room more than 5 minutes due to allergies. Mine bothered me a bit but she is more sensitive. They moved us to another room on the 5th floor which was marginally better. We ended up having to leave the hotel. They were very nice and credited the room back. If you have any allergies don't get room 510. Not sure if it used to be smoking or its moldy, etc.
Friendly staff breakfast was nice location was perfect for my business meeting bed not comfortable pillows not comfortable And these are the usual reasons that I love Hampton Inn.
Surrounded by great restaurants and shops 12.00 parking per day added to bill.
The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was plentiful and had lots of selections. The location was very clean. The rooms were very quiet despite a large number of registered guests. The beds were very comfortable. I did not appreciate having to park my car in the grass across the street from the hotel. There were at least seven vehicles who could not park at the hotel property. When I asked staff about the parking situation I was told that this was the norm.
Hotel employee saved a dinner plate for me and made sure my reservation was completed. Hotel employee was very friendly when I arrived and made me feel welcomed! Ms. Barbra's breakfast and personality was immaculate! The staff here was awes No
Not much ok location. This was one of the worst days I've ever had at the Staybridge. I understand it was a family reunion but the staff was absolutely horrible. When they ran out of breakfast and I was told I can go get breakfast somewhere else was a little too much.
Great location, close to the vista. I wasn't expecting all of the amenities that were included with this hotel. It was Awesome.
location, complimentary breakfast
Great room layout, very updated. Breakfast was excellent. No, everything was wonderful.
Rooms were spacious The road turning in to hotel was not easy
Loved everything about this hotel!! It was clean, the staff was friendly, everything was great!
Wish it was in a more walkable area.
I liked the roominess of the two bedroom suites as well as the cleanliness of the whole hotel. I also appreciated the friendliness of the hotel staff. The only thing that we didn't like was the location of the hotel.
Friendly staff, cleanliness Very good breakfast Would be nice if they could sell beer or wine from the vending shop (not really a complaint, but a suggestion)
Great clean hotel that offer free parking and free breakfast buffet. The location is with in driving distance of all that downtown has to offer. Not within walking distance of nightlife.
I really enjoyed this hotel. It's neat, clean, and well maintained. I always stay there when I go to Columbia !!! It's worth every penny!!! I
When you put in Columbia Maryland and it comes up with a hotel in Columbia, you expect it to be in Maryland not the Carolinas!
Love that it's a 2 bedroom suite. Been there the last 3 years- not again. It was filthy. They only clean rooms even 7 days and I'm not sure that actually happens. Toilet broke, called maintenance at 8:30 am, still not fixed by 10 pm - plunger was in bathroom and all of our towels that we had to beg for, were on the floor to clean up the mess. Had to switch rooms at 10 o'clock at night and they didn't want to do that- apparently not having a usable bathroom is not a problem. Staff is not allowed to do anything except write a note. In fact, she wrote the note and exclaimed that she had now "done her job". I called Corporate, they can't do anything except take a message and I still haven't gotten a call back. Had to fix the bed in the new room, the boxspring wasn't even on the broken frame. Last year, they had a little store by the front desk, we planned on that to buy milk. Everything had been removed from the shop, staff explained the GM got rid of it because people were stealing.
Don't be fooled! All I have to say is this, an actual employee told me that pictures of this hotel are actually pictures from the Marriot. This place was disgusting. My sofa had cigarette burns in it. The refrigerator was rusty. My bed was not made. The lights in my room did not work. Overall, this is a horrible hotel in a nice area. Definitely not worth the money you save.
Very roomy, only non smoking rooms but quiet and decent Non smoking
Roaches in the shower. Rooms unclean. Floors not sweep. No one at the front desk for check in, keep calling hotel, while standing in lobby, had to wait 30 minutes for someone to check in. Room so nasty we left/check out of the Roach motel!
PRICE AND LOCATION Staff is a direct reflection of GM Sharon Craven. She needs a class in Customer Service 101
Didn't get a chance to find out. False advertisement. Lack of communication. We (my pregnant wife, 8,5,and 2 yr olds and I) were 10 mins away from the location between 6 and 7 pm when we got a call that there were no rooms available for us to stay that night. No offer to help find another place, no restitution whatsoever. Hardly a half hearted rushed "sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, have a good night". We had to figure out a nearby substitute very quickly and ended up spending more than we had planned or budgeted to spend on a two nights stay somewhere in the area. Incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional way of handling the situation in my opinion. We had made the reservation 2 DAYS in advance. Lesson learned: Regardless of where you stay, always call the physical location to confirm the reservation.
Location I traveled solo, but when I checked in, I wasn't the only living thing in the room. I checked out and had to go somewhere else and did not get a refund.
I like the location. It's very convenient for getting on the hwy. The price is what drew me there...The first two nights were good until they moved me into a roach infested room. I didn't like the check time and some rooms had no REFRIGERATOR nor microwave and it has ROACHES.I Didn't grow up with them and it's NASTY to be around them
Layout very nice Phone did not work
I liked the the woman at the front desk. She was super nice. There were bedbugs and the place wasn't too clean. There was dust on the lamps and my pillow case had a piece of somebody else's hair on it.
The room rate The room was a filthy mess. Trash, broken glass and the tub was just nasty. I had to buy cleaning supplies and clean the tub to bathe my children. The night clerk was rude and seemed to care less when I showed him photos of all of this.
I sleep great at redroof We only had 3 pillows so I had to sacrifice a little comfort.
