Pros: The hotel was immaculate and the staff was very accommodating and worked very hard to make sure we were happy. Their restaurant had a wonderful selection of regional foods!

Cons: Nothing specific, but travelers should be aware that it is in a remote area.

Pros: Great view, well equipped room, very nice staff, good breakfast, very good restaurant too.

Cons: No complaints. Perhaps a bit of decoration in the room would be nice.

Pros: Spotless room, nice location in a beautiful little village. Stayed only one night during our roadtrip, but would have liked to stay a couple of days more if only there were time.

Cons: Not enough proper parking lots in the property for guests, but at least there was some space beside the road nearby to leave our car. This was not really a big deal for us though.

Pros: Delicious breakfast with lots of variety. Beautiful Mountain views from room. Excellent service with lots of local tips for hiking, dining, culture, etc. The staff even did our laundry for us for 5€.

Pros: The Location is wonderful! Quiet and beautiful to walk around! Breakfast - anything available, from regional tea till self made bread. I don't know where the coffee is coming from (maybe Italy), but it was sooo good :-). Overall perfect stay!

Cons: Only negative thing was, the mosquitos in the room! There should be mosquito net on all windows. We had a lot of bits over the night! The free WIFI should get more power. The signal in most of the corners are not that good. For vacation perfect ;-)

Pros: The breakfast was very good, with a large variety of products, many of them ecological. There is a playground for kids.

Cons: The hotel is next to the road. It was unfortunate that there were large construction works on the left hand side of the hotel and on the right hand side. Due to the work and the traffic of the trucks, it was noisy during the day and not a relaxing environment. Not extremely important but we stayed two nights and the room has not been cleaned. It would have been nice to at least empty the bins.

Pros: The staff especially the waiter was very friendly and communicative. Even though he has just startet working at this place the day before, he gave us the feeling of being at home. The food was just great. Everything freshly cooked and delicious.

Cons: In the relaxroom in the little spa area, there were no blankets.

Pros: Almost fully renovated rooms in a traditional family hotel. Bathrooms would also need some refreshment but clean and fully functional. Thanks to the warm weather, we had the opportunity to have the dinner on the outside terrace, perfect for a fine cuisine. Great choice of wines. Excellent breakfast, with a wide choice on the proposed buffet. Will come back !

Pros: Very confortable and cosy apartment, very quiet, with a quite nice view. Our host was very nice and helpful, and very flexible in terms of checking-in and checking-out schedules.

Pros: Had a big room for the price of a single. New coffee machine in the room. Comfortable bed. Close to station. The 1st to 5th floor belong to the village council, so all the rooms are from the 6th to 10th floor and therefore you do not hear much noise from the street, restaurants. Late check-in check-out possible

Pros: It was definitely one of the best options in Ilanz. We drove an electric car, and they had charging station in the parking spot! Plus breakfast was very good.

Pros: The room decor was really good and view sensational. Ease of parking was beneficial as was the security key for the room. Breakfast was ok but not spoiled for choice.

Pros: The room was big and clean. We stayed on the eighth floor and we had a fantastic view of the mountains. There was water and coffee/tea in the room. The breakfast was delicious. In special, the staff Carina was excellent person, very friendly and kind, gave us lots of tips that we could visit. We love the stay

Pros: Really nice room with the best view of the city. The hotel is very close to the train station, about one minute walk distance. There are some supermarkets and restaurants around the hotel.

Cons: Not a cold night - bed cover too heavy and thick. Option for a thinner cover would be nice.

Pros: It is really a very cosy place, a hide away from the civilisation, surrounded by beautiful mountains. You cannot do much expect relaxing. I also recommend to book the dinner in advance!! Very much appreciated. Obviously visiting the spa at Vals is a must. The sister hotel in Vals can book it for you at a discounted price!

Cons: The room was VERY small, and the only window was covered with timber - so it felt quite claustrophobic. We found the dinner (and the room) overprised due to the quality of the food (wich was good, but nothing exceptional) and the size of the room.

Pros: I like the location and concept of Casa da Luzi. While I don't think this hotel or restaurant is managed by its owners, the help was kind and lovely.

Cons: Unfortunately, after having been there before, I chose rooms based on what I knew of the property and the pictures provided. The room we received did not deliver. We were leaving home to escape a heat wave, and in what was arguably a very unusually hot period even in Surcasti, we were given a loft room with full setting sun exposure. The room was terribly warm all night. There is very little circulation and the clothes dryer below only contributes to warming of the loft. Had the pictures and information about these rooms been included, I would never have chosen the ones I did. I thought I was getting a morning sun exposure, bottom floor room. Additionally (and unfortunately), the chef had an accident the night we were booked to eat at the property. We had eaten there before, and it was lovely although absolutely overpriced, even by Swiss standards. We arrived to learn that the help was preparing the dinner in any event, and while she did an admirable job, it would have 1) been nice to have been notified that the chef was not going to be present, especially for such a pricey meal and 2) to have a discount on the meal and more options for various courses. We thought, for instance, that we'd be asked if we wanted dessert (we didn't), but then dessert just arrived. If a hotel dinner service is going to be that flexible in the quality of its service and dinner prep, it should also be flexible in its price point, particularly when it is a surprise.

Pros: Rustic hotel in a very small town. What a relief after coming from a tourist heavy area to get to a small town where hardly anyone speaks English. The hotel really feels as old as it is, but some nice touches makes it comfortable and 'modern'. We had a great meal and were treated by Robert the chef to some delicious local food and some undivided attention.

Cons: No dedicated space for bikes, but the room was spacious enough with a little corridor to keep the bikes safe.

Pros: Stunning location within the mountains. Lovely traditional farmhouse. The owner was really friendly and did his best to ensure I enjoyed my stay.

Pros: The host was very friendly and drove us into a restaurant in town for dinner. We also had the breakfast which was served in the garden and it was really nice.

Cons: There was adispute over the room cost which made the check out experience very uncomfortable. Even though the Swiss franc amount was clearly shown on our booking she wanted us to pay the Australian dollar amount in Swiss francs. She said booking.com had made an error.

Cons: The mountain village is very peaceful which also means there is no much choice for the lunch or dinner nearby. I wonder if B&B could be transferred to be a full course accommodation.

Pros: The location is just a 5 min walk to a ski run. Breakfast was included each morning. The mountain offered a good variety of ski runs. The room was a great use of space and maximized beds.

Cons: Wifi wasn't working in the guest house. Parking was difficult because the lot is small and taken up by locals, the staff had us move our vehicle around twice during our stay with no designated place to park. The restraunt was convienetly attached but unnessesarily expensive.

Cons: We were there on Saturday evening and the restaurant downstairs was closed. We had hoped to eat dinner there.

Pros: The hotel is located in a central position in a very quiet historic small town, situated on the Rhine. Fairly close to the famous and spectacular Rhine Gorge. For 30CHF extra, you can have half-board, including a 3 course evening meal. Breakfast is available early each day. The breakfast staff are very attentive.

Pros: Chose the hotel, as it seemed to have pleasant veranda to sit for drinks and food. This did not disappoint. We enjoyed the best green super charged smoothies, and lovely coffee. Veranda overlooked car park at rear, and pleasant views in the distance. Also, easy location wanted, near to river, as cycling Rhine from Andermatt. Lock up place to store our bikes was appreciated.

Cons: The room was spacious and modern in design, but bed mattresses were thin and spongy, and not of mattress standard expected in a hotel. We had a shared bathroom, which was not a problem, as no other guests seemed to be using it. The hotel is situated on the road, which during the night and early morning was so busy, and noisy. Railway close by, so barrier alarm and trains rattling through. Also, town clock striking through out night. The staff generally came across surley. This may have been because of the language difficulties. We British, and get the impression that few Brits visit Ilanz. Breakfast was odd- we selected the large, more expensive option, with more choose of foods. A small bowl of cornflakes offered. We asked for muesli, as this was on the menu. We then had to ask for milk to be provided, had to ask for bread and meats to be provided. In the end food was pleasant and substantial. Last point is the exterior of the hotel. The paint work and window frames are grubby and would benefit from a good clean or decoration to enhance place.
