The food was excellent. The swimming pool was clean and great.
The passage from the hotel to the sea
Food at breakfast and lunch. Not top quality, but abundant and there was a lot of variety. The infinity pool is nice although the view from it is pretty sad (depends in which direction you look). Room was clean.
This hotel is basically an old comunist hotel, renovated with cheap materials for maximum profitability. The renovations are partial. It was not completely cleaned up, just repainted and the floors changed + the interior design. It would have been highly appreciated if they would have put some extra effort to renovate the way to the beach and arrange a bit the private beach around the hotel. In the room you have a fridge, where i would have expected to find a mini bar, at least some bottles of water in it. But it is empty and it is not like you could put something inside them as there is no shop around the hotel + you don’t usually come with food and drinks to an all inclusive hotel. So what’s the point of the fridge. What is even weirder is that they sell drinks at the bar, but only up to 22.00. So, if you get thirsty after this hour you’ll have to wait until the morning. The hotel is placed in an isolated area, we did a walk around the hotel on the beach and in the surroundings. It’s depressing. Abandoned hotels, bushes, trash and wild dogs. The beach is small and dirty in this area. Between the main meals you get some snacks. Don’t count on them if you have a kid cuz they are not healthy and they do not even blend well with each other. When i was there they served for the noon snack: deep fried fish (hamsi) and crepes with jam or chocolate cream (?!). Same crepes they served in the morning and in the evening at desert. Alcohol drinks of the lowesr quality and u could only chose between wine, cognac and beer. The quality of people who visit this hotel is also low. To me, this is that type of business done for maximum profit with a compromise on quality, kitsch promoting and appealing to people who look for a lot of food at low prices and do not care too much about what’s around them or good manners.
The location is very nice, close to the beach, the view from the terrace is nice. If you can ignore the creapy surroundings typical for Romanian sea side ( which is not hotel’s fault) then the hotel is quite ok located. There is an infinity pool which is not big but it looks great.
- our stay at this hotel was the worst experience we’ve ever had. They did not provide the basics for a four stars hotel like cleaning the room, exchange towels with clean ones ( some of the towels had some pink spots even when it supose to be clean), no cosmetics in the bathroom and we had a small spider in the bathroom. It seems that the lady from the reception simply forgot to put us in the system so nobody knew that we were staying in that room. We found out this during the second evening when some ladies from the hotel staff simply entered in our room aroud 8pm several times searching for blankets. We were simply shocked so were they - somehow we felt we were discriminated because we choose to make the reservation with bookig.com and not directly at the hotel - we did not liked how they treat us so we wanted to leave after the first night but they refused to check us out and return the vouchers that we used for paying so we were forced to stay even it was 10.30 in the morning and the check out can be done until 12 So no way to reccomend this place!
Excellent location & sea view from the room, kudos for the building efficiency features, including lights on the hallways, etc., very nice decorated and cleaned rooms, comfortable beds and sheets, super nice bathroom- the shower with high pressure flow, great room service during stay, including water bottle daily replacement, awesome swimming pool/deck with comfy furniture, great beach & music on the beach selection, delicious food - soups were my favorites, decent food selection, including snacks, very professional and courteous staff, including receptionists, manager, food area, and Nicusor who passionately entertained the kids every evening. Loved the music selection at the beginning of each diner. Overall, an excellent experience, definitely highly recommended resort. Planning on going back! Thank you again Mera team for making our stay exceptional. And thank you for the gifts- the fruits basket and rose wine were delicious!
Suggestions for improvement: 1. Please mention on the website “highly oriented family resort”- kids were just adorable, however from time to time it was too much crying, screaming, strollers, high chairs, especially during serving the meals. 2. Coffee station to be available during breakfast. It is expected to be located next to the tea station. Only two coffee automates were available on the deck, long waiting time in the line should be avoided, especially in the morning when everyone needs caffeine! Additionally, it would be nice to have a coffee in the morning served in an appropriate porcelain cup instead of paper cup from automate. The positive is that the bartender was available to serve you coffee at your request. I used to take a cup from tea station and asked him/her for coffee. They were always very polite and available. 3. Better quality and selection of included alcoholic drinks. My husband, son, and brother in law were not too impressed of the quality of draft beer, wine, or cocktails. At your cost, a much better selection was available, and that was great. We use to order drinks that are usually expected to be included, such as margarita, Hugo, sex on the beach, etc.
Everything was fine.
