Pros: Very welcoming hosts, lovely property and extremely clean, excellent baguette at breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room and breakfast very good, and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. It is a lovely quiet rural location. The room was very comfortable.
Cons: The pool was closed for cleaning the two days we were there. However the owner was extremely apologetic. The credit card machine was not working and we had to pay cash. Again the owner was apologetic.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts. Had a fantastic stay with lots of great advice about what to see and do
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, after a tough day in the Saddle cycling, Philipe was lovely host and loved the accommodation, 5⭐ in my opinion, sadly only stayed 1 evening as cycling across from UK to Italy, what an amazing find
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super property, Philippe a wonderful host. Would love to stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What not?! The room was excellent. I have severe allergies and normally have to stipulate that the room needs to be dustfree. However, this was not necessary here. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean. Silvie was great! Although her English was basic and our French was very very basic, we were able to understand each other. Silvie was very friendly and accomodated every wish. We had a lovely breakfast with other (French) guests. Try the chocolate milk:-). Unfortunately, we could only stay one night, but we will definitely return. We went to visit Maroilles and this was ar an excellent distant of 15 minutes.
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location - very relaxed beside the stream running at back of house.

Pros: Very friendly reception and very accommodating to my needs!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and they do their best to communicate with you even if they are not speaking fluent english. We were welcomed with a glass of a very tasty juice (local product) and we were given information for the most interesting places to visit in the nature park as well as a map with full explanation of the places of interest. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Our breakfast was homemade but it was composed mostly by sweet things. Despite the fact that the B&B is in a farm with donkeys, we didn't hear those beautiful creatures at all. A very nice place if you want to go for a walk in the nature. We didn(t miss anything! We highly recommend it!
Cons: We liked everything :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, cosy with Stefan and his Wife being very accommodating. Lovely countryside house with great breakfast and local/ homemade ingredients. We ended up staying another night as we liked it so much. Oh and the donkeys, sheep and dog were nice to see :).

Pros: Everything was perfect! We were welcomed with a complementary drink in the garden which was lovely. The room was spacious and clean and the delicious evening meal was excellent value at 30euros each including aperitif, 4 courses, wine and coffee. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts. Could not fault it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fabulous few days staying at Maison d'Eclaibes. Christian was a superb host and we found the house very comfortable, clean and set within a stunning rural landscape and really delicious meals. We will definitely be back again!! Kim
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The mill house is in a fantastic location, the grounds and lake are beautiful, Anne Marie was away from the property but her husband Christian could not have been more helpful and our breakfast was the best I have had in Europe
Cons: Unable to fault
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 'The King of Bed & Breakfast!' 'Le roi des chambres d'hôtes!' The question everyone wants to know is; "Would you stay again" - Answer; "In a heartbeat"! Without doubt the best B&B I have ever stayed at. Anne-Marie, (the owner) was attentive, professional and very lovely throughout our overnight stay making us all feel so welcome. The property itself and the grounds are breathtaking, the facilities were second to none as was an amazing breakfast. There are two bedrooms, on the first floor was the main living area and one bedroom with a double bed as well as an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom was split over two floors. A single bed on the first floor ideal for anyone up to around 6' tall, then up some stairs to the second floor to a double bed and ensuite. The views were amazing, beds comfortable, both mattresses were quite soft. In the main room there is plenty to do should the weather be poor, TV, and free Wi-Fi loads of games and books. Only a very small issue, the upstairs shower is very low, so be warned that if you are over 5'7" you will have to duck down a little, but I personally think this adds the quirkiness to the amazing place. We had a walk over to the lake, not very easy if you have difficulty walking and all but impossible if your in a wheelchair. The lake can only be seen from two points due to it being overgrown. Still a nice walk though. Anne-Marie greeted up, made us drinks, (wine, beer etc) and told us a little of the family history, she was quite perfect in every way! Breakfast was extraordinary, freshly squeezed oranges, and pretty much everything you could wish for. The coffee was good too! The jams were so good, (all home made), we asked to purchase a couple of jars from her as well. It was a shame we were only here overnight, all of us would love to revisit again.
Cons: Can't fault the property or owner in any way shape or form... The stay was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Only 2 hours from Calais it was the perfect stop on route we were only sorry we could not stay longer. We will plan a longer visit next time. We definitely pms. To return. Breakfast was really good and set us up for our onward journey.
7.5 Good
Pros: A beautiful location A lovely host
Cons: There was no warning that the only accepted method of payment is cash which could have been embarrassing. It is in the middle of nowhere with not even a shop for miles around. We requested an evening meal which was very nice but at 90 Euros for 3 people it would have been nice to have known in advance what it would cost especially as cash only is acceptable
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our second visit to Maison d'Eclaibes, and it was just as lovely as the first time. The hosts are wonderfully hospitable and helpful. Our bedroom and bathroom were impeccably clean, as before. We had dinner the night that we stayed, and breakfast - and were provided with enough food to feed an army, including local cheeses, homemade yogurt and jams - really delicious. Bed really comfortable, with extra pillows if you need them (which I do, I always have 2 pillows!). You also have use of a huge sitting room area with lots of sofa's to lounge on, with great views out to the gardens. There's a kettle in the sitting room, so you can always make yourself a hot drink. We'd brought some beers with us and were able to put them in the fridge in the area that you have breakfast in
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful host who provided a lovely evening meal for us even though we hadn't booked. Saved us cycling miles in the heat to a restaurant. Beautiful house and garden.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The garden full of fruit trees which was a lovely place to share a bottle of wine we had brought with us. The room was modern in a traditional building and this worked well. The view of the meadow was enchanting first thing in the morning.
Cons: Nothing. Hosts are very welcoming and artistic characters which may not be to everyone’s taste, but suited us.
Chambres d'hôtes 'A la douane' - Hestrud - Bedroom

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, nice room that was good enough for our short stop. Very friendly hostess. Although she doesn't speak English and we don't speak French, we found ways to communicate and all went very good. Surprisingly nice breakfast with a lot of local products including cheese and ham.
Cons: The room is rather small to accomodate 3 people but OK for 1 night. Due to very hot weather it was very stuffy in the room, the provided fan helped a bit. Be aware of steep stairs to the second floor.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable throughout. Top quality adjusta Madame was a very welcoming host. Beautiful garden to sit in. Facilities available to prepare and eat own food. Also tea and coffee in our room. Delicious breakfast which included some local specialities. Interesting museum with cafe/brasserie next door.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot speak more highly of this establishment. Francois is friendly and interactive and willing to go out of his way and assist, ensuring everything is ok. We had a medical emergency and the concern that François showed and the follow up phone calls, just to ensure we were ok was incredibly touching. The facilities are great, nice spacious rooms, nice dining area, lots of room for the family.

Pros: The ambiance, it had a calming affect and was so quiet. The proprietor was charming and most helpful. The dining area was lovely and breakfast fit for a king. We loved every aspect of Les Charmilles
Cons: We couldn't find fault with this delightful hotel. I'm pleased we found this hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A family owned hotel set in attractive woodland with a pleasant intimate feel. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Very helpful and friendly proprietor. Staff also very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was both good and substantial. Easy to find using the SatNav. We came to mark the centenary of a great-uncle’s death at the end of WW1 at a nearby military cemetery. This tranquil hotel was a perfect place to stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, service was friendly, location was quiet but easy reach to town
Cons: Checking in from 5:00pm
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms excellent, nice location.
Cons: Restaurant facilities a short walk away from the main complex - got rather wet going for breakfast, but not a major disadvantage!
7.5 Good
Pros: Very friendly welcoming staff - good communication. Room large. Restaurant not open the night we were there (we chose it as it had a restaurant so was disappointing) and we found it difficult to find anything open for dinner. The hotel is located out of the main area of this small town.
Cons: There was nothing at all wrong with this hotel, maybe just a little pricey for its location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner at the restaurant. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Clean, spacious and comfortable room. We really enjoyed our stay here.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and personal welcome on arrival. Nice atmosphere of the Hotel which was not very large but nicely decorated with much attention for many details. The room was spacy and comfortable in all aspects. Dinner in the adjacent restaurant was nice and served with a personal touch. The proprietors did there utmost best to communicate in English. All together a very nice visit, recommendable for anyone who is looking for this as well. Thank you again !
Cons: I can not imagine anything right now !
6.3 Good
Pros: Nothing much
Cons: Unprofessional. Run on a shoestring. The best thing was the logo/branding. A characterless almost urban location. Lack of fire exit arrangements and locked external doors. WiFi didn't work& couldn't take card payments.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast and warm welcome from the host
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, exceptionally well laid out and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We arrived a bit late to be met by a lady and her two fractious kids. No lights were on in the reception area and it was obvious she was not happy to have waited for us. She showed me the room and then asked about breakfast time. When I said that we probably wouldn't have breakfast she showed me where to leave the key and left. That was it. No other sight nor sound of her or anyone. The restaurant was not, as advertised, a part of the hotel but down the road up a 'fire-escape'. Dreadful experience and certainly not a 'boutique' hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A great little B&B that really surprised us in a good way. The interior is very modern with great beds! The breakfast was very good. The very nice owner made sure our stay was absolutely perfect!
Cons: Can't really think of anything bad. Well, there's no parking in front of the B&B but about 100 meters next to it there is a huge free parking garage with security cameras.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was pleasant and clean, the bed very comfortable and Cecile was very helpful

Pros: Great view from a room filled with character. Had a great stay and breakfast. Thanks.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quirky decor
Cons: Needs better signage off the main road ie: the name of the B and B would help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unique and pretty
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Cons: No one around when we arrived. Took a bit of time to find someone. We left before breakfast even thou we asked for breakfast at 8am. We left at 8:30am without breakfast as we couldn't find anyone. This may have been a translation issue. The room was cold when we arrived and we had to ask for the heating to be put on. It's a lovely location and tastefully decorated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very comfortable and cosy. Staff really helpfull and friendly
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was extremely comfortable and continental breakfast delicious, very fresh with home made jams, local cheese and apple juice. "country farmhouse" decor. Nice bar area with pool table, and lounge/hall with splendid log burner.
Cons: The hot water was very low pressure-it took ages to run a bath- and a shower was not an option, although there was a shower hose and head, there was no where to attach it to. At busy times there was not enough hot water for all rooms. Wooden floors very creaky and noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a great country break with my family. The rooms were comfortable and well decorated, and the lounge area had a large wood fired stove. There are horses, goats and chickens on the property and our toddler loved it. The host was very kind and accommodating. Breakfast was great and there are nice local restaurants (a short drive away). This is a very rural location, which was exactly what we were looking for. You will need a car or bike
Cons: My only criticism is that the decking was slippery when wet
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: Even though the property was warm and cosy, there wasn't really hot water in the shower

Pros: Everything. I like the tranquillity, the charming interior, the lovely hosts, the food, the size of the rooms, the comfort, the parking facility, and the price.
Cons: Love everything. Its why I keep coming back. The stairs can be tricky but it all adds to the charm. I keep bumping my head on the low beam but I should know better after so many stays!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant restoration and very smart (and fun quirky). Rooms are exceptional and super comfy with great walk in showers. Hosts were attentive and helpful. Could not ask for more.
Cons: Nothing, except it would be great if there was a restaurant/café area on site as you know they would make a great job of it, but not too far to go for a meal.

Pros: Very warm welcome from the hosts, despite arriving earlier than check in. The room was very beautiful, and the breakfast was excellent.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house was a lovely original period house, made very comfortable, and located in a quiet rural village, - the setting was very pleasant, with a view of the church and garden, we enjoyed a very relaxing stay . We were very satisfied with the accomodation, and facilities, and enjoyed the breakfast, and very kindly, by arrangement we were able to enjoy an evening meal, which was prepared for us using local produce.
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like, everything was to our liking.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was huge and Matisse-themed. The bedlinen was crisp and the beds firm eyt comfortable. The bathroom was also huge and came with a shower and a tub. The breakfast was nice and served in the main dining area on a large dining table alongside other guests. There were books and comfy chairs around in case you fancied lingering around after you finished. It is a tiny village and so you might not find restaurants in the immediate vicinity and need to go out a bit further to the Lac du Val Joly area. There are a reasonably sized supermarket, a kids play area, and an antiquities shop not too far from the B&B. It was great for a night's stay and depending on your taste, might only be suited for a longer stay if you had plans to use it as a base and go further afield for entertainment.
Cons: There could have been a few more soft furnishings in the room; a few rugs perhaps and more sumptuous bedding.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly host, ample breakfast with delicious croissants, really peaceful location.
Cons: The shower wasn't too good but fine for an overnight stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and the owner was so nice.he cooked us and another couple dinner

Pros: Lovely fresh crusty bread for breakfast. A nice garden to sit out in & a fantastic restaurant five minutes walk up the road, which the owner of Jolimessine called & made a table reservation for us.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We were well looked after, with a lovely big, comfortable bed, and fresh breakfast.
Cons: We were travelling by public transport and the hotel is located a little way from Le Quesnoy township which made for a very long walk into town and home again. Virtually no bus services. More suited to travellers who have their own car, although the owner very kindly ran us to the gare on the day of departure which saved us a taxi fare. Also communication was somewhat difficult as she spoke very little English but we managed. Beautiful, well-kept accommodation.
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews

8.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the decor and character ambiance and identifying the rooms by flower names.
Cons: Would have liked a lift in the building to assist carrying our luggage to the room. The separate toilet was very small. We ate in the Chateau in the terrace. Which was in need of attention. ie weeds overgrown in the cobbles. There are 3 prices of menus. From €60 pp to €30. We chose a paté starter. Followed by a large piece of steak which was fatty and gristley. Which we could NOT eat. We did report it. But with the waiter having no English he didn't understand why nearly all of our meat wasn't eaten. Unfortunately during the night both my wife & I had stomach upset within half an hour if each other. Although we cannot categorically blame the even meal we had not eaten any midday lunch so therefore suspect the evening meal to be responsible. When we informed the receptionist at check out of our unfortunate illness she was sympathetic but could offer us no financial recompense as her "boss" was not there.
7.0 Good
Pros: Quiet rural location away from hustle bustle and other facilities. We had a, large room, good breakfasts each morning and staff made great efforts to understand my French and to speak in English.
Cons: The sofa bed was made up ready for our arrival, but was soon sorted by a busy member of staff. Likewise no duvet was provided until we asked for one. I should have checked what I had booked because paying 10 euro each for breakfast each day was a bit of a shock - my fault for not checking.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful, nothing was a problem. Nice walks around hotel. Nice having the extra room with sitting space.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very comfortable and the ground floor disabled room was fab. Extremely peaceful setting. As for supper, very good indeed!
Cons: All was very good, but no draught beer, only bottles
6.8 Good
Pros: Quiet place, typical food, excellent chef.
Cons: Beautiful building but lacking some care. Spiders and ladybirds in the room, handheld shower and no curtain, loud music in the restaurant.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, location
5.8 Okay

Cons: Pokey room, needed some TLC
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and building. Surrounding area very nice
Cons: Flies can be a pain, mid summer. However as it's a rural location, this has to be expected.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was just a one-night stopover, so we have not tried the restaurant and did not have time to enjoy the surroundings which seemed very attractive. The bathroom was new and well appointed, the rooms were OK for an old home.
Cons: The room was not fully ready for us upon arrival, but it was quickly remedied. Our major issue was that the property hosted an all-night party and the music and yelling lasted until 4 in the morning. Needless to say, we have not slept well. We certainly overpaid for this night of hell. I would avoid staying here again, just because this is clearly a restaurant first and only marginally a hotel, thus, making it likely that our ordeal is repeated on any night without prior warning.
5.5 Okay
Pros: lovely old building. nice rural location. room good size.
Cons: bathroom bit tatty and tired. welcome dismissive. breakfast service appalling. had to go searching for someone for hot drinks, cutlery, food run out etc.

Dinner was first rate, the salad bar buffet in particular was superb, the following morning there was not only continental breakfast but eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and mushrooms. Very nice staff

The landlord was very friendly, the breakfast delicious - in summary a very relaxing stay for one night. The motorbike were locked away in the landlords garage - but even parking outside would have been absolutely safe!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location, quiet area, close to amenities
Cons: TV didn't work
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great for all the shopping around it
Cons: I turned up at the right time, only to be told by a young man on reception that my room wouldn’t be ready for another 2 hours as it hadn’t been cleaned yet. He suggested I go away and get lunch, though I had been travelling all morning so just wanted to put some clean clothes on first. He seemed as though I was a real hassle to him and was very blunt with me. I came back later and there was a different young man on reception who was really nice and helpful.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was polite, hotel easy to find off the highway, free parking, soundproof rooms
Cons: The room was not very clean, the sheets had stains on them, the bathroom smelled like dog urine and there was hair in the shower. We skipped the breakfast intentionally Even for a 2 star hotel you'd expect clean sheets.

Pros: If you are traveling from Brussels to Paris late at night - this is what you want to expect The room was good, there was an extra heater, the room was clean and bright, the hospitality of personnel was really good.
Cons: The shower cabin cover and liquid soap dispenser were somewhat funny. Overall everything else was perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very basic hotel that lived up to expectation. Check in was very efficient and the room had all the basic facilities. I would use it again. We walked into Hautemont which took 25 minutes to find a decent brasserie.
Cons: The location is in a large commercial centre. There was limited parking and I found the last slot. The panel on the toilet flush was missing and it was hit and miss to find the right plastic lever to press.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and clean with lots of space. The public bathroom in the reception area was not very nice. I enjoyed our visit.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The Wi-Fi connection was fast. The elevator was super fast. The reception staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: The breakfast consisted of only sweet stuff. It would be great to have a hair dryer in the bathroom, but there's none.
