Polite, happy & welcoming staff - outstanding value for money
Pool & spa
since the new owners have been in place the food presentation and quality were excellent. up date the rooms next!
Although the hotel is 'tired' if you can get it for a cheap pirice you can get hotel services and facilities for Premier Inn costs. Food was good and at a reasonable price. As with many of the other reviews the hotel is in need of a revamp. Everything feels a little worn and outdated so don't book for a romantic weekend. It is fine for business if you arrive late and just need the convenience of a hotel.
Clean rooms and good food in restaraunt.
Breakfast Room booked 6 days before was not available, I was put in a twin room when I had boooked a double. Teir website claimed to have a refurbished hotel, my room was old and dirty and definitely not refurbished.
Breakfast - which was very good Very dirty windows (frames mouldy!) and cold veg with bar meal
excellent rooms , great spa , food in the restaurant was out of this world ( gordon ramsay paying a visit ? ) , many compliments to the chef , excellent value for money , will visit again A1++++ if there was one slight gripe , it was having to queue for breakfast ? couldnt quite work out why such a well run hotel would run short of tables ?
Being able to work straight from the door of the hotel. The spa, when we were allowed to use it. No heater in our room. No where to sit except the bed in delux room, so we could not really visit our grandparents room. no lift. Our children (11 and 13) were not allowed in the pool when we wanted to go. No lift. No spin drier for costumes in the spa,so because our radiator was broken we had to put on cold wet costumes. a la cart restaurant was not open, and the bar food was chip orientated and the acoustics were terrible. No where comfortable to sit in the bar while waiting for our table. Insanely complicated billing.
Relaxed, friendly staff. The overall facilities looked pretty good, although I didn't use any of them. Overall design seemed a bit odd with the car park at the back and side, but the reception area at the front with no indication in the car park that that was where it was. Also considering the size and style of hotel it should get some proper real ale in the bar.
bar /restaurant modern and reasonably clean Bedroom very outdated as was bathroom. Our room directly above function room, extremely noisy
Business meeting Not having a trouser press in the room
fantastic photo's of the rooms, looks great from the outside, the discoint looks like a good deal smells of stale water, food really really bad, made by a child, broken remote, noisey, dirty carpets, odd attitude from staff!!??
no internet access
Nice, friendly hotel centrally located within the heart of Doncaster town centre.
Location excellent staff helpfful
The location The room was smelly and dirty and the towels had make up on them
Very hot, no air con and poor parking arrangements
The only thing pleasant about this hotel was the sleep I had after travelling all day Worst service ever....half the staff dont seem to be capable of their given job
Room was very clean, the bed comfortable, very central for shopping or clubbing. Due to its location it was a little noisy due to late night revellers, the car park is very small and was full, had to pay to park elsewhere.
The good sized very clean room, comfortable bed. Able to get an early breakfast. No
The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was very good, and the bed was excellent. We would have brought it home, but thought you would miss it.
New, clean and everything worked proerly Breakfast: a cooked breakfast for those travelling around all day and don't have time for lunch would be good - even if it could be arranged with the pub next door
Lovely Room, everything in room so clean & comfortable. We had to wait at least 5 minutes at reception to check in.
The internet did not work
Room was ready early and we were allowed in prior to attending a race meeting at Doncaster, which is a nice touch. It is impossible to get a taxi from the hotel to racemeetings on a race day. The hotels location means a long journey for a cab in slow traffic and the 6 taxi firms we contacted all stated this. Bear in mind if off to the races!
Large clean room. Friendly & helpful staff. Easy to find & quick access to the centre of town (5 minutes drive)
Great place to stop over on your Journey. Have allways used travelodge but not any more!
excellent room bar and lounge area very comfy breakfast could have been better
I chose this hotel because I was attending an evening function at the hotel so location was foremost priority. Main hotel is excellent for functions and of a high standard - I would have ticked 'luxury' to classify the hotel had it not been for the bedroom. Staff were friendly enough. We were located in an annex bedroom (ground floor off reception). Bedroom was freezing cold - admittedly it was the end of October but didn't expect to have to sleep in coats! Even the carpet was so cold it felt damp. Other issues: Damp towel left on bathroom floor - later realised this is because the shower intermittently dribbled and splashed on floor; room dusty (especially noticable on black lamps); dead spider and bits of paper on window sill so obviously not been cleaned; four holes in one of the bed sheets; mug in bedroom was cracked and chipped. I contacted the hotel manager by email when I got home to advise of these problems so that they can be rectified but a week later the email has not even been acknowledged.
Very clean & very pleasing Recently refurbished executive room - overall very nice. Bathroom looked plush, however lacked finish - the wooden unit basin mounted was on stood directly on tiled floor with signs of water damage(swollen)also unit maked up due to where the soap has been left, shower head pipe work visible between headunit & wall. Could have done with:- a soap dish, shelf near basin. The only shelf where tooth brush, drink glasses etc could be left was behind the wc not the most hygienic of places.
Excellent front of staff - attended a wedding/reception and though that it was very well planned We stopped in room 703 which was one of the refurbished rooms. The room was very comfy and well decorated but I have 2 points regarding the bathroom. No 1 - the stainless steel rubbish bin was rusty and needed to be thrown away. No 2 Whilst the shower is excellent, the water left on the tiled floor is extremely dangerous and had my elderly parents been in the room I would have been very worried about their safety. I think you need to provide floor towels as well as bath/hand towels to mop up the water that comes out of the shower area. Also, the breakfast was really nice but would benefit from the plates being warmed. I would welcome comments from the hotel regarding these points.
hotel room was fantastic and the food was amazing
Convenient location just 10 minutes walk from town centre No cold water - both sink taps ran hot. One tap was coming off the fitting. Bathroom door did not close. Room was very small and claustrophobic. Tatty furnishings. In need of a major refurbishment.
Lovely interior to the hotel, nice restaurant/staff. In a very good location to the Racecourse and a pub across the road. The shower in our room was at boiling temp and could not be turned down which was very infuriating and dangerous. The staff on Reception had atitude problems and did not make us feel welcome. When I paid our bill and attempted to speak to the lady about the shower she turned away and went about other business with her collegue never glancing back.
Staff were very pleasant 1) Exterior of the Hotel is poor (Reception area is very modern and well presented) 2) Rooms are very dated and tired.
No expense spared with this hotel
Fantastic staff, very helpful, always smiling and happy. The hotel is great the rooms are furnished to a very good standard. Bed were very comfortable. Best hotel that I have stayed in for years, don't change a thing. The weather in Doncaster was very cold outside, so glad I was staying in an excellent hotel.
Clean, good parking, nice size room, comfortable bed. Shower unit loose on wall, constant drip, unable to regulate temperature - too hot. Heating too hot, I tried radiator valve to no effect (later advised that reception could have sorted this out). Lift not working, no help with bags up stairs. Insufficient info in rooms ref heating, tv channels, immediate local area (Doncaster). Poor external signage - we were told this was because hotel is a listed building, we asked for more information out of interest but it wasn't forthcoming.
Friendliness of the staff, and nothing seemed too much trouble.
price of the wireless network
the receptionist was really nice, the rooms were nice the food wasn't that nice and some of the staff at the bar etc weren't very helpful and didn't offer things like knives and forks
Really comfortable rooms. Lovely surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location within 10minute walking distance of Railway station. Parking available. Had evening meal, tasteless. Presented well but unable to eat it. Had breakfast and again unable to eat it, tasteless. I would recommend the hotel for above reasons but I wouldn't recommend the food.
The decor of the hotel The beds were a little small. Usually in hotels there is a king size bed. Also the beds seemed to make quite a bit of noise!
Staff in bar and at breakfast were particularly pleasant, friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. Housekeeping was good and maids were friendly too. Could do with mini-bar and bathrobes in the room they are treats when you are in a hotel! Reception service was okay but not as friendly as other staff.
Your staff were most helpful, particularly the lady at the reception desk. My first stay both memorable and excellent value. Absolutely nothing disliked.
Staff were friendly enough, room clean and tidy. Cold, cold, cold. Theroomm was cold. We weer told that heating doesnt come on until 4pm!1 Even when it came on not very warm. Tepid, not hot, water.
Very Helpful and friendly reception staff. Restraunt staff very attentive
Helpfull staff Unfortunately the room we had was very cold, too small a radiator and not enough blankets on beds. this was rectified by staff. Duvets would be an improvement.
Location, cleanliness, size of room Breakfast service on Sunday was shocking. Repeated orders, uncleared table, slow service - 1 hour for breakfast!
Helpful staff Very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, because of discos which continued to 12.30 and 12.00 respectively.
breakfast excellent shower leaked and was mouldy
Room very small also noisy and hot
The selection of TV channels was excellent (all the SKY sports channel). The breakfast was also excellent.
The friendliness of the hotel staff; they were very helpful at the front desk.
Friendly staff, and good food.
Both hotel , and room were exceptional and of the highest standard. Thankyou for a wonderful stay
Clean, welcoming, efficient and friendly staff. Good size room although bed a little uncomfortable but extremely large.
Efficient reception, large clean room, excellent meal Touch of mould in shower, offer of free bottle of wine with meal rather hidden away
A nice comfortable, old fashioned hotel.
Staff were excellent - could not have been more helpful. Room was beautiful, bathroom was great with lovely complimentary shampoos etc plus nice range of teas and coffee. Hotel itself was full of character and olde world granduer.
Staff very attentive, as it was my first stay I was taken to my room and shown the breakfast room, bar and restaurant areas on the way. The food was excellent and there was a good choice. Free Wi-fi in bedroom.
Good atmosphere, comfortable, large rooms, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast. rooms on the front of the hotel suffer from road noise.
Newly kitted out and refurbished, with excellent staff and very good location, the beds were superb! Nothing, all of it was perfect!
Very pleasant surroundings. Rooms were very comfortable felt more like home than a hotel room which can often seem cold and univiting Room was a little cold heat wise especially the bathroom
Good room and staff, great food. Roudy group of men moved from private function room into hotel bar around 10pm. Took over the previously quiet comfy bar and some loud foul 'F' words used. Other customer was complaining to reception as we chose to leave, so don't know how staff handled the situation.
The room was exceptionally clean. The waiting time for the evening meal.
Nice Enviroment and ambience, Friendly Staff None
wireless internet advertised but 'broken' - hasn't been working for a while according to the receptionist. The terrible noise from the two functions going on the hotel which made it impossible to go to sleep before midnight.
I enjoyed my one night stay
Clean & tidy room. Comfortable beds. good breakfast Owner complained that there was eye make up stains on towles. I felt very uncomfortable after this.
within walking distance of town centre and plenty of car park space
staff were there but not in your face
Tha bathroom was very light and it was good to be the only people in the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the rooms werre warm. The room was quite dark in the daytime and there was no view and no armchair (nor any chair). It had no bath. It was small compared to overseas hotel rooms but not compared with other British. The teamaker needed a power point but this was hard to reach and other items had to be unplugged. Not enough table space.
I liked the cleanliness and the comfortable beds. The room was also large with a good sized bathroom. I also liked the provision of nice shower gel, soap, biscuits, coffee and tea.
Lots of room..big bathroom..warm.good service.good car park..best guest house we have ever stayed in. Nothing
A truley personalised service by the owner and a quality breakfast
welcoming and helpful landlady
The location was very quiet with no traffic noise The room was cold on arrival and took a good few hours to warm up
Beautiful rooms, lovely spa facilities. Staff made you feel welcome. Not enough information on things like breakfast and room service. No welcome pack in the room. Very loud in the mornings - got woken up at 6:30am by banging.
The old world charm and the magnificent settings on the golf course. Also the real feeling of ambience
Beautiful property, worth the visit to sit in the big hall, food was good, staff friendly, Lots of hot water in the shower, free wifi. Had a single room and it was small, bed not very comfy but it was cheap.
Staff were exremely friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and the food was well presented and very tasty None
Overall everything Was not able to shut the bathroom door
The leisure facilities were very nice and open at convenient times. I had to ask the reception staff about everything ie location and times of leisure facilities, location/time of breakfast, location of bar/restaurant. I should have been provided with all of the appropriate information on arrival. The room was nicely spacious but only terrestrial TV available which is pretty limited these days. I don't use TV much but when travelling alone it is sometimes nice to chill out for an hour or so watching TV so Sky or Freeview would be an improvement.
Excellent waiter service & food at breakfast. Clean & tidy Free parking Accommodation generally 'tired' - eg old and faded curtains, which wouldn't quite close, hardboard of bathroom door coming away from central core, light above mirror in bathroom not functioning, cracked window pane. Absolutely no details regarding the hotel (eg restaurant times, room service, facilities available) in the room apart from, rather oddly, a wine list. No safe deposit box or iron. Telephone, but not obviously possible to contact either other rooms or main reception. Room size just about adequate - though it would be wrong to say you couldn't swing a cat, you'd have to have short arms & a small cat! Large area of apparent damp around socket points in single room used by one member of the party.
Room was very nice in the new wing. No telephone in the room, pool is quite small although adequate. Reception staff poor on both checking in and out. Breakfast staff not very attentive
Great food. Good service in the restaurant especially the manager guy who worked Sunday night - he was outstanding. Great location - the grounds were always beautifully kept. No bath! We were looking forward to a relaxing bath or two! Also, never seen a bathroom so badly planned - the toilet was facing a wall... Which gave you hardly any room to sit... Very bad!!! (Newnham suite) Also on arriving & trying to find the hotel - we could not find the hotel - took us ages - Terrible Signage!!!
Nice people, nice food, quiet room Only complaint; I was kept waiting at reception (which is understandable) but the lady on duty could have made my wait tolerable by saying "I will get to you soon, sir!" Instead of studiously ignoring me.
Very impressive entrance. Very helpful friendly staff. Nice location. Excellent service and good breakfast.
Clean, roomy, freindly staff. Breakfast not very good, okay but not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
Clean pleasent environment with friendly staff It wasn't clear when I booked that I would only have a shower available to me
Room clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast fast and good. Dinner in lodge nest door unremarkable pub menu
comfortable room although i have stayed in better best Western hotels. Bar open till very late so able to have drink on return. room too warm during night and was unable to do anything about tempreture.
The friendly staff and car parking. Only the alarm which kept going off throughout the night.
Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. Was not kept waiting. Clean, comfortable room. Enjoyable breakfast with good choice. Easy booking online. No bar facilities after midnight.
The staff are always helpful and cheerful. The new shower heads still do not deliver a good amount of water.
room and lounge bar area Slow food service and very small portions of good food - wouldn't recommend eating there but would stay again.
Comfortable bed. Lots of hot water. Well lit desk to work at. Free parking. Poor television reception on limited number of channels (achieved after moving the areial to the top of the wardrobe). Carpet on the bathroom floor.
The hotel staff at the stables had shown that they had considered the food needs of the relate cohort and effort was put in to show this
We simply needed a place to stay en route ... and this was perfect; we would return
Nothing We wanted a hotel that is what we expected the notice in our room welcomed us to the Doncaster College we stayed in halls of residence
Poor reception, awful bed
I was very disappointed that the service was poor the last two times that we stayed at the stables. There was no consideration for those of us who regularly ate at the stables, despite many emails and requests we were not allowed to eat in the stables. We stayed at the hotel as a group for 10 weekends and there was no customer loyalty acknowledged.
The birds singing. the parking
Fora budget price it was a decent, clean room, excellent breakfast and frindly staff. Very good valuefor money. Car parking was a little restricted. Perhaps because we arrived late on a day when there was a wedding party at the hotel.
the hotel was clean and excellant value for the money. a little suprised that we couldnt get breakfast before 8-30. most hotels we stop in breakfast is from 7-30. so i think they need to be a little more flexible on there breakfast times.
Room Customer service was appalling! A wedding party over ran the hotel . we couldn't use bar or restaurant . it was even difficult using the stairs!!! Very noisy.
Value for money. Comfortable rooms. The price varies. They won't match the price on reception, that you can book on Internet.
no comment. no comment
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room comfitable and the breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious
the friendliestof staff customer care skills excellent the bed but that is down to preferential taste
Very large flat screen TV in room. Large bathroom. Plenty of storage space. Room had it's own character. You can see the racecourse from the hotel, it's a only a 2 min walk. There was a leak in the bathroom but this was caused by the people in the room above. The room faced directly on to a noisy roundabout, but we knew about this in advance.
Superior room great with fab jacuzzi. Nice cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Big soft Super Kingsize bed. Our only complaints would be that due to there being a wedding on on the Sataurday we were not able to get a bar snack til 8pm instead of quoted 6pm and dinner started at 9pm instead of 7pm. Also check out time was stated as being 11am but as we were not being collected til 12 noon on Sunday I asked if we could check out later, which according to the brochure was possible if we paid extra but I was told No and given no reason.
Rooms were clean and tidy. Bathrooms were nice. Function on beneath our room until midnight. very loud despite hotel knowing we had our 3 month old baby staying with us.
Good breakfast, pleasant room. Well located for the race track (we weren't going there, but many guests were), outside the city center. The vaunted WiFi access never worked. Eventually the staff let me use an antiquated PC behind the reception desk to send an essentiall email, but no one could ever get us a connection from our room or even from the lounge. The staff were very pleasant but unable to help. Clothes fell off the hangers because they have to fit sideways on the hooks.
as we were going to the races the location was perfect. the staff were great and we even got there to early for check in but they gave us our room early so we could frehen up for our day out after the races we went back to our hotel to relax and have a couple of drinks in the bar. i was astonished to find that all seating had been removed from the bar to accomidate racegoers, as residents we had to go to our room to sit and relax when we came down later the bar still had no seats so we went straight in to town centre .
New hotel, nice and clean and very friendly staff None
We were taking a very early flight from Robin Hood airport. Staying at the Ramada took all the stress out of "getting to the airport on time" We just stroled across to the check in desk, then got on the plane. No issues
Clean, warm & comfortable. The main entrance is at the rear. This is not apparent even when entering the car park. It is natural to try and reach the front of the hotel where one would expect to find the reception. But you can't drive there!!! After walking along a narrow path with luggage and a disabled wife we reached the revolving door at the front. This revolves too quickly and bites at your heels - my wife wouldn't even enter it and it had to be 'disabled' for her to get through. We then found the reception at the rear and the adjacent automatic sliding doors. A simple sign in the car park directing you to the entrance at the rear would have saved a lot of hassle.
The Receptionists were very helpfull when I required help to find a tyre firm after having a puncture
Staff were extremeley good and very helpful
The hotel was near the airport and looked good from the outside. Multiple issues including price cheaper on hotels own website.
Very clean well run hotel, staff very helpfull. Rooms excellent well fitted out. I considered the bar prices to be slightly on the high side.
Very airy - the restaurant area is well lit - The lounge/bar/restaurant area has been very tastefully used with the space available. Not a bad point just our personal opinion - The night we stayed it was freezing - There was no extra bedding and the wooden floors were too bare - In the summer it may be adequate but not in winter
Internet - ired access strange (Ethernet cable in my room would not connect to my pc). Wireless access in lobby very slow - until I mentioned it to staff then it speeded up. Odd!
noisy car garage and road. The food wasn't that great for its price. Fried breakfast was cold
the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel
It was comfortable, quiet, friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make the stay enjoyable. We will certainly use Sleep Inn again
Friendly staff, generally pleasant atmosphere, free wifi tacky soap/shampoo dispensers
Rooms spacious - could not fault cleanliness
Clean large room, and close location to football ground The outside look of the hotel, and cans of empty beer near the staff entrance
The bar was reasonably priced and the location was easily accessible. I felt that the staff on reception could have been more welcoming and friendly. They appeared miserable and could not even manage a smile.
Provided comfortable accommodation for a brief overnight stay in Doncaster.
Good clean cheap accomodation
Clean, comfortable easy access More choice at breakfast
Price Rooms clearly need updating and a good clean but to be honest you can't expect too much for the price
Basic room, but good value for money I paid for the breakfast for my wife and I, as the young lady had charged my account for them. However I was informed that night, when I got home, by Steve and Mandy (it was their engagement party in the function room the night before, thus the overnight stay) that the manager had agreed to include the breakfasts in our room rate of £35.00. Perhaps your young lady in the morning had not realised? Can you check up on this one and report back - thanks
Bedroom had lounge area Check out after breakfast on morning of departure was not good. Staff couldn't access computorised details of previous nights meal or issue a VAT receipt
Food was acceptable, staff very helpful room was poorly equipped, no remote on television, light did not work in bathroom
The food in the evening was good , staff friendly. The room was dirty, taps you could not turn off, black mould everywhere, cracked wash basin, chipped shower tray, dirty carpets,I could go on and on, will never stay here again. What more can I say?
Food was quite good and reasonably priced. We found that the hotel was not up to standard. No glasses in bathroom. No remote control for TV. No decent chair to sit on whilst in room. Central heating radiator was not in use but we were given a small electric heater. Carpet did not look very clean. The staff room or office was immediately next door to our room with only a partition wall between them; hence we could hear everything they were saying and doing. Very annoying late at night and being woken up by the banging Etc. If we could hear them, then they probably would have been able to hear us.
the room was seperate from the pub itself, the staff were very helpful too
Good service in all areas. Allocated ground floor bedroom in stable block. Room OK but very noisy from rooms above. Woken at 05.00 and noisy from then on.
We were originally in a smaller room but were upgraded at no extra cost. The rooms was clean and plenty of space. Some of the decor is rather old fashioned though.
The staff were excellent. Very helpful when we were delayed and could not get there by the allocated check in time The place is desperately in need of refurbishment, this is not a complaint, as we enjoyed our stay despite that.
