7.1 Good
Pros: The rustic comfort of the room
Cons: The breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff with great service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful gem. Because it has only a few rooms you receive a lot of personal attention. We felt like long distant friends visiting friends. The owners and staff are very kind. We stayed in the room that has the bunk beds because unfortunately the other rooms were already booked. The room was clean and spacious. And had everything we needed. We loved the breakfast! The decoration here is something to be mentioned, it is all very beautiful and full of details, take a close look!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for the hiking trails (although unfortunately they were closed when we visited, due to recent typhoon damage). Also close to quite a few of the other shrines that Kamakura is famous for. Location is a little away from the main Kamakura station, take the local train 2 stops, not at all inconvenient. Great hosts - helpful with dinner suggestions and local information. In the cafe downstairs - part of the property/and where breakfast is served - I had the best cup of tea all trip! Bespoke country flags on French toast at breakfast; very delicious.
Cons: The front bedroom can be a little noisy as it overlooks the road, but Kamakura wasn't that busy when we visited so it was quiet from about 10pm in any event. Try to book rooms on the back of the property if you can though.
7.1 Good
Cons: Since the building is just next to the street and isn’t equipped with noise proof windows. You can hear all kinds of noise all the nights especially especially when cars, motorbikes, tracks pass by. It doesn’t stop for a second.

Pros: Quite new and good guesthouse in Hase, a short ride by train from Kamakura. Very nice room, unfortunately without anything to hang clothes and towels on. But the friendly host will take care of that, we are sure. Good facilities!
Cons: Nothing to dislike, but the dusting and cleaning- also around taps and showerhead must be kept in order for the future!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved that little cozy Guest House very much und felt releaved to come there after sightseeing. The host is very nice and friendly, he helped us with any question we had. The house itself is something precious!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The ZEN meditation session in the morning is unique. The host is a passionate surfer and helped to practice this sport just 100 meters away. The location of the hostel close to the beach and close to the most famous temple is fantastic. It is very "Japanese", e.g. ultra-clean, full respect to anybody, small, unique.
Cons: %
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was great - just a block from the seafront, within easy walking distance of two of the most popular temples in Kamakura, and the train line. The owners were lovely , and the guesthouse itself is clean and looks to be newly renovated.

The common area is a great place to talk to the other guests and staff. They have bikes you can use which makes exploring Kamakura super easy and there are some absolutely unmissable sights to see.
Cons: It is a little further away from what you want to see than some might prefer although the bikes do take care of that.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was a family owned ryokan. We rented one tatami room all to ourselves, and slept on futons. The inside of the hotel looked like a traditional Japanese house in pristine condition. In fact most of the hotel and appliances look clean and newish. We stayed there on a weeknight, and were the only guests. One family member loved having the whole ryokan to ourselves, and was very impressed with the look and feel of the house. Another family member was a little scared of the quietness. The surrounding area is pretty dead at night, but during the day the road to the nearby Hase-kannon has so many food options it will make your head spin.
Cons: The entryway to the hotel was hard to find, and the kitchen could use some upgrade. Both these factors prevented me from seeing how nice the rest of the ryokan was initially. Beware the host is not completely fluent in English, but it didn't present a problem to us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We had the whole place to ourselves! They have a washing machine on site, a shared living room and a nice little kitchen. Since there was only two of us then they only charged us per person rather than the sized room we had booked. Staff was nice. You have to assemble your own futon, but that was fun because it was more of an activity to do. They don't have a TV, which encourages you to go out and go to the beach or explore. Good for the price. You do get an AC unit in the room. Word of advice, you have to pay cash here they do not take credit cards.
Cons: The website said that there was bike rentals, but when we asked the property there was no rentals. Also, it was a little difficult to find. Maybe add instructions to the check-in instructions. The futons and pillows are really thin. You have to rent towels, but they're cheap. It looks like the walls are really thin and there was a room next to ours on the first floor, so it seems like if there was someone else there then they would be able to hear everything you do.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A nice place near the hill, fresh air, quiet and cozy house, authentic japanese house and interesting surroundings.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Small but comfortable with great shower rooms and use of laundry machine. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our visit very much. The location to Hase station and the beach as well as access to hiking trail were great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is good
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The house was very traditional and I liked it very much at the first sight. I have reserved for a shared room but luckily there was no one booking the room that day, then I got the whole room lolll. The male staff was very friendly, helpful and handsome, lovely to meet him too. Facilities are alright, for girls, they also provide cleaning water and foam for removing makeup, and toner and lotion as well, very sweet set-up. Surroundings are all residential areas so it was quite at night too, glad that I had a good sleep there. Also, when I was walking to the hostel, I can see the sea shining! It was near to both the sea and station, and temples nearby.
Cons: I was unable to find it according to Google map direction, turned out I asked the staff at the bread store and he guided me the way. Was a smooth journey tho.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We are over with a 3 yrs old boy, the staff is a very kind young boy. He has offered a lot of help and amazing tolerate of the “unstable 3”. We had a very pleasant stay, would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Cons: It was an absolutely pleasant stay :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: nice shower room and great atmosphere around! Kohei san is very gentle ^^
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely area . Hidden away house but felt very authentic. Shower was amazing. It’s also just one room they rent out so felt like we had the place to ourselves
Cons: We had to make our own beds which we thoughts was a bit strange but it was hilarious working out how to put the different Bed sheets on the mattress and quilt

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very nice old house with a very welcoming host. The hostel is in a nice area next to the beach. You can chill, take a rest and make some new friends :) I missed the breakfast but had dinner with the host. Definitely worth a try if you are staying! Please be aware that they got two dormitory small beds that are not shown on booking.com, would be wise to email them in advance to check their availability. Check them out in Instagram to know more!
Cons: Nothing really :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The front room was lovely with woodwork and high ceilings, and I found the futon mattress comfortable enough. We were there at the height of summer heat and they did have a decent room air conditioner. Staff was present, helpful and friendly. Quiet neighborhood. A short walk to the beach, uncrowded, with warm water and gray-black volcanic sand, and there was a nice udon/tempura place across the street. The guesthouse rents serviceable bikes for about $5/day to visit the temples. A kindly place. The light breakfast, provided for a fee, was very good and is recommended.
Cons: It's a guesthouse, so you have to adhere to rules about no shoes on the floors and wearing the house "toilet slippers" to use the shared bathroom. Had to rent a towel. We stayed in the front room, which has paper walls and in terms of sound, was like sleeping on a porch. You hear everything from other rooms and the lobby.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Short ride by bus from the train station Cheap laundry, good breakfast Traditional house The manager speaks English You can rent a bike to go around and to visit the many temples and shrines
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful interior, very friendly staff, close to the sea and a view of Mt. Fuji. The family room was really nice, it felt like a ryokan.
Cons: Some traffic noise from the road next to the guest house throughout the night. Only one shower for all the guests can be a problem. It's not exactly central.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The charm of the place, the new tatami, the hosts, easiness to get to town, but not be in town! I hope to be able to return to Kamejikan one day in the near future!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although the bedroom floor was a tatami mat (traditional Japanese bedroom) that we slept on, the futons and mattresses provided were extremely comfortable. The host was very helpful as well in describing our surroundings.
Cons: Free parking on site would have been nice and also bath towels!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was helpful and kind and the breakfast was a nice healthy way to start the day. Location near beach, bus, and a beautiful temple.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cozy Tatami.
Cons: The only public bathroom is too busy.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at WeBase Kamakura - Hostel in Kamakura, just steps from Yuigahama and Kamakura Seaside Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and super comfy beds.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything is pretty good. There is really nice Japanese restaurant, right next to the property. A bit expensive but worth try. So good!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. Also flexible. They gave good advice on local bars & restaurants and things to do. It was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Very good facilities overall. Relaxing lounge with kitchen area & vending machines. ‘Onsen’ style baths were available free but we did not use. I’d recommend this accommodation and would stay again if in Kamakura.
Cons: The insulation between rooms is poor, so any noise is easily heard from next door. However, nothing serious as rules dictate certain noise restrictions. Vending machines were short of water a few days running. The restaurant on site was on average ¥1000 for breakfast including a drink which is way overpriced for what you get. The quality was good but not the value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The big bathroom is traditional Japanese style. Toilets are extremely clean. Breakfast is the awesome choice of a day's beginning.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect location right by the beach, I recommend going there in the evening for a nice way to finish off the evening. Close to the most interesting attractions like the big buddha and easy to reach by foot from the train station within around 10 minutes. Very clean and it felt quite private though being a shared female dorm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They’d thought through how to give guests what they need eg 3 MacBooks set up for customers to use the onsen is awesome and laundry area. However for me to leave my bags while went for a walk to town before check out the receptionist was going to charge me and it was raining so a little annoyed at that. So I didn’t check out early and went for a coffee then came back to my bags for free and to check out on time as I said I would. Def loved to have stayed at property longer but couldn’t afford to this trip. I def would use we base again
Cons: Note above
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean... Great shower rooms and facilities. The building is very nice also.
Cons: The portions size in the restaurant is very small for the price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Calm location in town close to tram stop, spacious common areas with windows. If you get a day ticket at the main train station you can go around town for 600 on tram/buses for a day. Few steps from the ocean. Nice soba restaurant around the corner.
Cons: Luggage storage on check out day charged 500 (I think)

7.9 Good
Pros: Great location! I was lucky to be the only guest for that night.
Cons: I don't recommend the breakfast unless you are used to traditional Japanese breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ushio is really a relaxing place beside the sea and near a lot of tourist spots. The staff were friendly and nice and the food was amazing. The feel of the place is super chill too and makes me want to stay longer. I will definitely go back soon!
Cons: All good! No negative comments
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly host, good japanese breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ushios guesthouse feels like a traditional home, and it’s in house restaurant is frequented by locals daily. With surfer vibes and a very friendly owner, Ushio will make you feel like a local. Ideally located a few minutes from Kamakura’s Great Buddha, this hostel is an ideal choice for your next trip to Kamakura!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed is spacious and comfy. The curtains provides good privacy. Attractive traditional Japanese building and good vibe.2min walk to the Hase station. Beach and the Big Buddha is in walking distance. Would definitely consider coming back if I visit the town again. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy beds with large balcony. Cute little terrace as well as a tiny bar for sake and beer. Very friendly staff.
Cons: The breakfast was not enough for 900¥ and the taste of the algae fish mix wasn't very appealing to me.

Pros: Breakfast was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were fantastic. This was amazing value for money, especially considering we were cooked a fabulous Japanese breakfast spread. This is a basic guest house in terms of facilities, but very comfortable. It has only three bedrooms, so there was never any issues with using the shared facilities. It exceeded our expectations & we cannot fault the awesome hosts! We even went on a samurai walking tour with the owner, who has great local knowledge & took us to a 24th generation sword smith.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was really great and the hosts are awesome!! Would stay there again anytime!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Basic accommodation but great location. The host, Samurai Bushi was amazing. Very welcoming and a great cook, breakfast was very good.

Pros: The hotel was good but the staff really made this place amazing, can't thank you enough!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese style room with Mount Fuji view from our window. Great base to explore Kamakura and Enoshima. Nice breakfast and the evening meal was good value too.
Cons: Stairs quite narrow but hotel staff took bags to our room for us so can’t complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic get away from the hussle and bustle of the city for a couple of days, beautiful views of mount fuji at sunset also. Staff were super friendly and helpful, couldn't recommend highly enough!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean Very friendly owner Excellent location Delicious breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything, super breakfast experience
Cons: Nothing I can recall
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view of the ocean from the front of the property and from the window of my room! Eventhough my room (inamuragasaki) wasn't fronting the beach, I can still see it from my window. My cute single room is pretty big for one person so I really had a comfortable stay. There's a restaurant on the first floor and I love to stay outside with the view of the ocean and just chill during the night. It was summer and there were already surfers as soon as I woke up the next day, which was around 6am. Made sure to go for a stroll by the beach before breakfast was served. The breakfast..omg, the traditional Japanese breakfast was perfect on its own! To add the view of the ocean, it was a cherry on top of the cake. I would've loved to stay longer but settled to return and stay longer next time. And if this wasn't enough, the Enoshima Seacandle, although a bit small, is visible from the balcony. What's even better? Mt Fuji is also visible on a clear day! (It was cloudy during my stay but Fuji-san made an appearance when I visited Enoshima Seacandle the previous night). Accessibility wise, it's near the bus stop. Just 2 minutes away. Very near!
Cons: Just the narrow stairs - both outside and inside the property. It was a bit difficult to go up with heavy luggage. Other than that, it's all good.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: sea view, breakfast, owners and dog, amazing atmosphere of a house on the sea
Cons: some dust in the room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Astonishing view! Very nice personal, good food and breakfast
Cons: A noisy room, just above the road. But if the noise doesn't bother you it's ok. The room was quite small, with a shared bathroom, we had bigger rooms with private bathroom for the same price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unbelievably nice service staff.
Overview Reviews
Located in Kamakura, Guest House SHIBAFU KAMAKURA HASE is by the ocean, within a 5-minute walk of Hasedera and Great Buddha. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
6.7 Good
Pros: This is what it is - a Japanese guesthouse in an interesting area with a laid-back vibe and friendly owner and staff. Kamakura is a great place to visit, and this place would really suit a young single person who can easily adapt to futon/tatami mat accommodation and shared toilet. Very good value.
Cons: We can manage with traditional Japanese bedrooms, but I think this was just a bit too basic for us at our age. I understand the room we booked as a double has now been reclassified as a single, which is fair enough.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: small room, not with tatami but with mats, thin futon. Steep wooden staircase to access the room and another uncomfortable wooden staircase to reach the single small sink. Suitable for young travelers and with little light luggage
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room is small but provides everything we need. Smart TV with firestick, tiny but cute shower room. A nice sofa located in the room provides space for non-sleep time. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Also so great restaurants are nearby. 5 mins walk from the closest station.
Cons: pity that the basin/sink and toilets are outside the room.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Traditional Japanese accommodation - very clean and comfy. I enjoyed catching the sunrise on the roof in the morning. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to sample the food but it looked great - would have liked to have stayed here longer!
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything very clean and tidy. Good shower in room. Also microwave in there. Toilet outside, but directly across the hall, so couldn't have been nearer. The guy who ran the place spoke English and was friendly and helpful. A useful info sheet was provided detailing things, eg door code, WiFi, etc. Nice friendly bar downstairs.
Cons: Nothing, it was much as expected. Maybe a bit expensive for what it was, but it was still one of the cheaper places in the area, so I suppose it's all about location.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room contains all the necessary facilities and utilities. Good to have shower room inside. It’s around 5 mins of walking to reach Hase station, Hase temple (to see Hydrangea) and the great buddha.
Cons: i like this guesthouse. But pls note in Hase, the place gets quiet and dark after 6pm. There are few restaurants nearby so its better to eat at Central stations like Kamakura or Fujisawa stations before going back.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: The place was ok, but we had a disspointed stay because the owner had a party with his collegues at the place and we couldn’t sleep until late... we told them, but the noisy was still there :( it was until more than 11pm... really annoying if you want to wake up early and visit the area...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice welcome, small but clean, nice and comfortable room, great location. We really appreciated the shower in the room, and the warm welcome of the owner.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly staff. Bonuspoints for the restaurant and great beer and spirit collection they have.
Cons: A very small minor for me personally was the shared toilet in the corridor. As it was only shared with two rooms I never came across the neighbors.

Cons: At the reception of the room, we were asked to answer how we wanted them to prepare the egg for breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are friendly and the facilities are clean and beautiful. The facilities is rather old but well maintained. Location is slight off the tourist are and view from room is not very fantastic.
Cons: The view from the room and the location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was within walking distance of everything. We were there in the same time as typhoon Hagibis, the staff were very friendly in helping us locate transport away from the coast. They made a real scary time, seem not so scary.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Airy, clean rooms with generous sized beds.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Size of room and comfort of bed
Cons: Western breakfast had little resemblance to a typical western breakfast. Breakfast service was very slow and unattentive. Had to book a breakfast time - we chose 8.30 but had to wait even though breakfast area was not full. Non existent assistance with luggage and only one small trolley. Appeared to focus purely on Japanese customers.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Because the station was only 10 minutes walk to the hotel, we decided not to take a taxi. However, on the way, it suddenly rained heavily and a strong wind rose on the sea. We got wet all over when we walked in the hotel and felt embarrassed with the rain streaming from our clothes. The staff came to greet and handed towels for rubbing our hair dry. They even brought a hot air fan to our room after checkin which helped to dry our clothes and shoes. Moreover, breakfast in the hotel was also wonderful though a bit costly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views, friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Ok location but not close to any of the train stations or town (Kamakura). On the beach but only one side of the hotel really faces the water - the other side not.
Cons: Lots of noise from above - we think probably a large group of children. The hotel told us they could not move us to another room, nothing they could do about the noise once we moved in, so we had to listen to the banging late at night and early in the morning. The hotel should have put the children on a lower floor and we put on an upper floor.

Cons: One shower for 6 people was not really enough, some people had to wait in order to shower. The additional bathroom is not very pleasant to ise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely great. It is right in front of the Kamakura station. maybe one min by walk. The room was cozy. At first, I reserved dormitory room with three beds, but when I checked in, they offered upgrade room. Thank you very much! Do not expect hetel, then you will like this Inn. enough neat in reasonable price.
Cons: They do not have elevator and the Inn is located on 4th floor. If you have lots of big luggage, it would be hard. one toilet for woman, one toilet for man and only one shower room.

Pros: The location and the view. Twin room size was good for family of three with young child. Staff were very helpful.
