Since then, I’ve always felt that Tulsa was an underrated city, at least by East Coast standards. Oklahoma City is booming, but Tulsa shouldn’t sit in its shadow. The Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa Zoo, and Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame are reason enough alone to visit. One thing I love about Tulsa’s hotel scene is that each building either showcases or is set beside the city’s gorgeous Art Deco architecture. Whether it’s the view from a suite’s private balcony or a rooftop swimming pool, looking at these century-old edifices is always inspiring. Hotels outside of Tulsa’s downtown core are rarely far from the most popular venues, museums, and sites. A trip to Tulsa, once known as the “oil capital of the world”, is always worthwhile. Here’s my pick of the best hotels in Tulsa for your next visit.

The Mayo Hotel has a century of hospitality under its belt and is one of the finest boutique hotels in Tulsa. Art Deco flourishes meet modern decor throughout the hotel’s suites, many of which offer spectacular city views. Meanwhile, The Mayo Suite has all of the comforts and conveniences of a chic downtown Tulsa apartment.

If you want to splurge, my top pick is the Celebrity Suite. This room can be a haven for relaxing or an exciting social hub for visits with friends. A full kitchen with a wet bar, a large bathroom with a hot tub, and a dedicated dining room decked out in red leather makes it one of the most exclusive suites in the city.

Speaking of exclusive, a trip to the Mayo Hotel’s rooftop bar is the best place in town for panoramic views of the city.

Not only does The Campbell Hotel sit on the National Register of Historic Places, but it’s also been completely renovated recently. The 26 individually decorated guestrooms are as dazzling now as they were in the 1920s.

As one of the best hotels in Tulsa, I love that The Campbell Hotel bucks the trend of minimal decor and embraces the unique when it comes to its guestrooms. A Route 66 Room is the perfect stay for road trippers, while the TU Alumni Room celebrates the city’s university graduates.

Despite having a limited number of rooms, a stay at The Campbell Hotel still has plenty of lavish amenities. The Campbell Lounge has a drink to quench every thirst and between the hair salon, skin spa, and skin studio, a luxurious afternoon of pampering is always on the itinerary.

This Residence Inn by Marriott in Midtown offers studio suites and one- or two-bedroom suites for a real home-away-from-home vibe. Full kitchens make cooking for yourself a breeze, though there’s also free coffee, tea, and a full American breakfast every day. I love the convenience store near the lobby, perfect for picking up snacks or toiletries.

Other perks at this hotel I find especially convenient are the laundry and dry-cleaning services. I think this would be a great place to stay when attending a wedding or special event at the BOK Center.

The superb all-suite accommodations also offer complimentary on-site parking and an outdoor swimming pool, making this one of the best hotels in Tulsa for extended stays.

The best hotels in Tulsa aren’t always in the center of downtown – case in point, the Hilton Garden Inn. This Midtown accommodation is close to LaFortune Park, one of the city’s liveliest green spaces. The Hilton Garden Inn is also close to the Tulsa State Fairgrounds and OU-Tulsa campus, making it a convenient spot for travelers.

This pet-friendly property has a range of guestrooms and suites that cater to short and long stays. King-size beds are available in either option, though I like that the suites have dedicated bedrooms and sleeper sofas in the living space for children.

After a round of golf next door at LaFortune Park, a stop at the fitness center or indoor pool is a great way to end the day.

The view from the rooftop pool at the Hyatt Regency instantly cements its reputation as one of the best hotels in Tulsa. This downtown gem is three blocks from the BOK Center, making it one of the closest hotels to the venue.

This is where I’d stay to maximize a night in the city. The hotel’s Topeca Coffee Cafe and Avery Kitchen & Bar offer easy ways to start the day with a great cup of joe or end the evening with a nightcap. I also love that the hotel overlooks Williams Green, which is great for people-watching.

The late noon check-out here is always a huge advantage, especially seeing as the Luxury Suites with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city are so hard to say goodbye to. If these premium suites are fully booked, don’t worry – the king and double rooms have the same wide windows and gorgeous views.

Hotel Indigo is a brand I know well and its downtown location is one of the best hotels in Tulsa. Set right in the thick of the entertainment district, Hotel Indigo’s address on Santa Fe Square is ideal for feeling the pulse of the city. It also runs an airport shuttle service, making it an exceptionally convenient option.

The on-site restaurant, Prospect Local Bar and Kitchen, is the perfect place to taste Tulsa for the first time. A plate of catfish battered in cornmeal or meatloaf glazed in molasses set the bar high for foodies.

These century-old meals are best washed down with a drink at the Roof Sixty Six rooftop bar. After a delicious day of dining downtown, retreating to a light and airy suite with a living room and private balcony is the cherry on top.

The Avid Hotel provides an essentials-only experience that’s far better than any motel stay. One of the best hotels in Tulsa, this property southeast of the city center offers a streamlined selection of amenities designed to maximize comfort and convenience.

The 24-hour fitness center has extras like earbuds, balance balls, and yoga mats to make every workout count. Although there’s no restaurant on site, the free breakfast, 24-hour market in the lobby, and great range of eateries within walking distance have meals covered from morning through night.

All of the guestrooms here were designed with comfort in mind. Black-out shades and sound-dimming features create a serene space for undisturbed sleep. Meanwhile, the open storage and work desk provides all the space you need for unpacking without worrying about leaving items behind.

This Staybridge Suites in the Woodland Hills area is one of the best hotels in Tulsa for fun outside of the city center. There’s a Dave & Buster’s right across the intersection, while the Urban Air trampoline park and River Spirit casino are only minutes away.

The big advantage here is knowing that each suite has an in-room kitchen. Still, the complimentary full American breakfast is delicious enough to keep the stove turned off until dinner time.

With restaurants surrounding the hotel, I can see how easy it is to dine out, relying on the microwave and refrigerator only for leftovers. When the time comes to work off those tasty meals, the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, basketball court, and fitness center will do the trick.

When it comes to luxury hotels in Tulsa, the Tulsa Club Hotel, a Curio Collection, is hard to beat. Set next door to the Philtower Building, the Tulsa Club Hotel is a beautiful addition to the city’s historic downtown architecture.

Its Art Deco facade is a century old, with a rooftop terrace showcasing the other dazzling buildings in Tulsa’s core. The Deco Suites are super chic and I love that the separate living areas have oversized seating for extra comfort.

As one of the best hotels in Tulsa’s city center, the Tulsa Club Hotel has two perks perfect for travelers on city breaks. The first is the selection of small plates and happy hour beverages at the hotel’s American Tavern-style eatery, Chamber. The second is the on-site boutique, where you can get all your souvenir shopping done.

The Ambassador Hotel Tulsa, Autograph Collection calls one of the city’s finest buildings home. As one of the best hotels in Tulsa, its Midtown address isn’t off the beaten path either; the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service takes guests downtown in minutes.

But if you’d rather not leave the hotel at all, that’s fine too – business and leisure travelers are covered with a 24-hour gym and a trio of meeting spaces among the hotel’s amenities.

Luxurious guestrooms and suites fill this historical building. All have been recently renovated with thoroughly modern updates. From the Classic King to the top-floor Hurley Ambassador Suite, I like how the layouts maximize space to create separate areas despite being in a single room. Evening turndown service and free bottled water are nice extra touches.
