The surroundings and the scenery Nothing
Atmosphere was very friendly. Wonderful setting. Troglodyte room was amazing and as for the swimming pool in the cave - wow! You have to go - thoroughly recommend it. Nothing
A unique suberb hotel, Good reception and setting
The site, the building, the outlook. We like a double bed that IS a double bed, not two singles pushed together.
Beautiful location , superb facilities , service excellent.............what more can I say , have already recommended it to two couples I could not find any
the unfriendliness of the owners and no non french tv programm
It was staffed by charming and helpful staff.Beautiful location overlooking the river Loire.Nicely furnished. Pity about the lack of a restaurant. The light in the bathroom was movement activated and didn't allow sufficient time before it went out.
Exemplary service. Nothing too much trouble in this delightful design hotel. From the moment we were picked up from the station by the owner (because there were no taxis) to the moment we left, we felt special. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed and extemely comfortable. We had a prestige room which was really a suite of 4 rooms including the separate toilet. However all the standard rooms are spacious especially for a french hotel. There was nothing we did not like about this hotel as it was a delightful experience.
Very comfortable room, relaxing and welcoming ambiance, breakfast was worth getting up for! Excellent recommendations for local evening food - several in walking distance. Good location for walking (the village is lovely see: agbr.smugmug.com/Travel/France) and driving to the regions' sites. BUT make sure your sat nav is up to date: locating the hotel is no problem but several of the region's roads have changed.
The staff could not have been more helpful, from the receptionist when we arrived to the staff in the restaurant.
The service provided by the staff, the location, an excellent meal in the Brasserie. The overral feel of the hotel.
Well apppointed place to stay ,with good level of service.Food very enjoyable in the courtyard setting We failed to ask for a 1st floor room. One of us has difficulty with stairs and there was no lift-or any other available room.
The location as a place to stay for touring the Loire area is excellent. The hotel itself shares the charm of the neighbouring abbey. The young woman at the front desk who checked us in and out was outstanding - gracious, welcoming. And bi-lingual. And the entire establishment was impeccably clean. The staff at the brasserie were overworked and careless. The food for breakfast was fairly typical but below par. But above all, if we had realized that the "standard room" was as cramped as it was, we would have upgraded to a premium. The standard is fine for a backpacker staying one night. For a retired couple on a leisure break, we found it far too basic.
After 30 days and nights in France staying at various establishments, it was a pleasure to at last be treated as an important individual, even if our understanding of the language was not in the top level of expectation. None
The atmosphere and the surrounding area and history
Nicely locatedin centre of town loveley terras, friendly and easy going atmosphere For our children: the swimming was not open
The locaton was excellent; the staff were lovely, helpful and spoke English; the cuisine was very good and the room had a bit of charm. sS with all european hotels there should be better lighting to read by and keep the room brgiht and cheery; but this was very good value.
location is excellent quality of service was variable, at the desk excellent , in the resturant it was indifferent
Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent dinner in the Plantegenet restaurant and the breakfast was also good. Parking was very convenient and the hotel's location across the street from the Abbey couldn't be better. In spite of the cramped room the bed was comfortable and the shower was fine. Our room was on the top floor. The clothes cupboard was tiny -- long enough to hang a t-shirt maybe! The furnishings were quite poor. I don't know what the rooms on the floor below were like; we would have booked a more expensive room that didn't involve so many stairs if we had known how crowded it would be. If you want to see the Abbey and stay overnight there are not many choices, so I would recommend if you are staying only one night.
