The re-furbished areas are good The non-refurbished areas less so but efforts were made to explain and the price was fair
Easily accessible from the M1
lovely room and beautiful hotel
Need good decoration upstairs where are the bedrooms.
Central to travel routes, good parking Bar prices were pretty steep, 2 double vodka's a can of redbull & an archers and lemonade - £17 plus! Defeats the object of looking for a cheaper rate on the internet with such high bar/meal prices. Though the staff were extremely friendly and happy to help.
Ease of check in and check out. Cleanliness of room and quality of breakfast
Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly, room was spacious, clean and comfortable, buffet breakfast was good too. I would use this hotel again.
Fabulous breakfast and meals at the Taybarn. Staff very friendly too, at both the hotel and Taybarns.
Excellent room, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Good value. Tea/coffee supply not topped up in room between 2 night stay.
Comfortable beds; food - restaurant (alrhough food in the evening could have been better) Restaurant - buffet style evening meal (Taybarns). Food not replaced quickly enough so couldn't always have what you wanted to eat especially the Indian selection; chips; pizza and soup.
Convenience Noise proofing was poor quality
The Taybarns attached was excellent value for money and the food was lovely, both breakfast and dinner. The rooms were lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend!
Staff were helpful when I had an enquiry about the price of my bill
From the moment we walked in the door reception staff welcolmed us and were very efficient. Stayed in room 56 over looking bin storage area to the attached Taybarn pub which was not the best outlook as staff also used it as a rest /smoke area. For the first visit the best available room should always be offered in my own view , and sunday papers should also be offered even if charged for !.
hated the back ground music played at breakfast times in the dining room
That the rooms are appart from the maenbuilding The hotel is sadly enough located in a poor neighbourhood
We found the car parking most convenient.Although given a double room, not a twin as ordered, this was soon sorted.
Breakfast was g8 The heating was pooor and the bed were really small and we also had problem with the hot water
Friendly staff Very basic room,
I only slept in the room so cannot comment The room and bedlinen smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, which as a non smoker was quite unpleasant
n/a £4 per hour for internet and only available in bar/took 1 hour to connect. No shampoo or hairdryer in room. Lights not working. Parking not available until 21.30 as priority given to function not guests.
nothing room very small and in poor state, bed so uncomfortable, bathroom and shower cubicule grubby, curtains did not match and were hanging off.
Location not far from Keele University, enough free parking space, friendly staff (especially at breakfast!). Bed was good. Bathroom dated and not very clean, small shower, no shampoo. Bedroom a bit stuffy, blankets old and inadequate.Had to go up and down quite a few flights of stairs. Not the best value for money.
Larger room than they had guaranteed. Quiet, clean, good facilities. No shampoo
All the staff were very polite. No, there was nothing we didn't like. There were young children with lots of energy who run up and down the corridor till quite late [9-9.30pm] and early morning, this did not spoil the stay, children do have to use it up in some way................what a shame we can't plug them into the national grid, think of the money we'd save!!!!
It was very easy to arrange and we just wanted a bed for the night which this provided.
The walk across a dark car park for an evening meal.
You know what to expect with these hotels, so no surprises. Bed's were too soft and moved around on their wheels too easily. For the money they charge, they should offer a cooked breakfast.
excellent location for where we were going, convenient, good service, no dramas!!!
You get what you pay for. It was clean and the staff were helful. The pillows were very hard. We booked for a double but on arrival to the room discovered two singles. They couldnt move us as was fully booked. Not the end of the world. Also quite a few children running up and down the corridor. It was half term however.
Great staff And Rooms were very Tidy.
Staff was excellent, very helpful. Walking distance to Britannia. A good value for what it was, breakfast was adequate. I would think most of their customer base are football fans, so not to have sports channels in the rooms or at least in the lobby is a service they are missing.
Good position for business. 24 hour check in is useful
when we first arrived we were given keys to room number 001 and when we went to the room we saw a pull out bed and there was a smell in the room we then realised the room was also used as a conference room so we imediatly rang to ask for another room then another couple from our party were opposite a strip club and the noise was atrotious
Staff were friendly, but did not know much about the area. Room was booked as family room, but stank of stale tobacco and BO. The hotel is 'tired' and really needs decorating and bringing up to date. The staff are ambivalent, not local, and don't really care about their jobs/guests. When we commented on the smell in the room the reply was" what do you expect us to do about it, change all of the curtains etc. The ban only came' in this month?" Not really what we expected to hear. The food was definately of the boil in the bag variety', and that included the ice cream, which had never seen any liquid related to cream what-so-ever.
Hotel near town centre Beds in poor condition
Nice bar staff. uncomfortable bed.
The room was nice and spacious for a single rate and the restaurant food was good The leisure facilities were small, old and limited. I booked this hotel mainly for the leisure facilities. Foreign restaurant staff who had limited English
the room was spacious clean comfortable and ideal for my family ,it was perfectly situated, the hotel staff were very helpful.
Excellent staff attitude and willingness to help, Room very clean bed comfortable Four rooms were booked and these comments apply to all Rooms were far to hot, floor boards creaky, showing sign of wear and req decorating water pressure low
Smell of tobacco stale smoke in the room. No towel rail, no toilet roll holder
easy access to local attractions decor needs updating
it was well situated and had on paper good facilities staff were totally disinterested, particularly in the bar area. everything was very run down.
As a business customer the facilities were excellent.
The pool was nice, big gym, food was nice and resonably priced, room was quality.
Excellent location; welcoming and helpful staff especially those on reception; delightful entrance area creating an open and professional ambience; very comfortable and spacious rooms; good car parking facilities: a nice breakfast despite the consistently cold bacon!
This is a clean and modern hotel -- probably the best in Stoke. Very welcoming and efficient reception, plenty of parking, nice bedroom, excellent breakfast, very good sauna and steamroom. Air conditioning control did not make any difference to room temperature.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms clean and tidy, the food was very good. none
The breakfast was excellent. Breakfast waitress first class.
the hotel was fantastic, it was clean and spacious and ideally located for motorway access. it was in close poximaty to alton towers (its just a 30 odd minute drive away). the staff were very friendly and proffesional and we could not fault our stay . the hotel has its own pool which can be used by guests at no extra cost, however directly across from the hotel is an indoor pool facility called water world.this hotel definetlyl deserves its four star rating.
very nice, comfortable and easy to reach.
Staff was friendly. Room space large. The fact that they made me pay for my breakfast even though it was included in my booking.
Breakfast was nice. Room was very dated - could really do with updating. Would like to have had a temperature thermostat in room to adjust to my own needs.
Staff helpful Tired old hotel, in need of some tlc. Room was cold, had to have extra heater. Taps moved when turned on/off. Walls very thin - snoring could be heard from room next door!Bed lumpy and uncomfortable. Breakfast the first day was cold - due to a wedding beng set up in the normal breakfast room.
friendly staff and good breakfast Nope!!
the room I was in was clean enough in the bathroom but there were a lot of moths in the room and the carpets could have been doing with a clean on the outside edges and behind the beds and cupboards
Location, right next to the train station The room was very old fashion and the sink was in the main bedroom
Helpful and friendly staff. Good central location near Stoke railway station. Room we had was slightly dated and tired looking.
The room was actually rather bigger than I had expected and was very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. There was quite a bit of noise from the floorboards. I was aware of how they creaked under my feet but was even more aware when the guest staying in the room above me returned home late and was fairly noisy. It was the same which woke me in the morning. Breakfast was a little casual. It took a long time to be served coffee. However, the dining room was a very spacious and airy room.
Hotel staff was very polite & helpful with any special requests. Nice size room as compared to other British hotels. Bathroom facilities were especially nice. with jacuzzi tub. Both breakfast & dinner buffets more than adequate. Great value for the price, and excellent location directly across from train station.
staff friendly and helpful my room was on the 3rd floor. It smelled like it had been used for years by smokers. The furnishings were old and dated.
Relaxed a lot stayed overnight, used the swimming pool, steamroom, and sauna had two treatments, had the weather been better would have explored the grounds yes haveing to walk through the gym to get anywhere
Suite facilities very good - comfortable bed, well fitted bathroom. Excellent service in bar and dining room, although only one (very efficient) server. Room rate good and dining / wine cost reasonable. I would have preferred sofa's or two armchairs within the suite rather than quite uncomfortable bench seats with seat cushion and no back. Also lighting in seating area a little dim - ok for leisure purposes but insufficent for business purpose reading, unless using bed reading lights provided, and laying down. Should advise guests with mobility problems of hilly nature of surrounds and numerous stairs on route between guest wing and reception / dining areas.
The staff realy tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible Breakfast could do with some eggs
The guy in the bar was very pleasant We booked on line but there was no record of the booking on arrival. We had print out of booking and a room was found after a 30 minute wait in the bar.The receptionist dealt with us. No apology from the manager! We used it as an overnight stay while visiting friends in Stone.More a spa than a hotel.
exceletent room, gym,restaurant and SPA
Friendly helpful staff This was supposed to be booked as an anniversary surprise. Phone call to home to check name of second person staying ruined the surprise. Advised hotel of problem no mention or token compensation received. Not fantastic value for money.
Well maintained and modern establishment. Pleasant setting. The fact that you had to go throught the Gym to get to your room and having to pay £3.95 for bread with my meal.
Nice hotel, staff were friendly. Often felt that I was paying over the odds though. Room was what I expected for a 5-star. Spa facilities were very impressive and were most definitely the highlight of our stay. Slightly disappointed that the rooms did not have any air conditioning. It was also disappointing that the Elemis shower products in the hotel room and spa area had all been watered down, or at least seemed that way. Poor vegetarian option at restaurant.
Suites are very well appointed and the food was lovely. Service was also efficient and attentive.
Good location and excellent value. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very conveniently located. Despite being near the M6 it was very quiet and a nice spot. Great for the Potteries or south Cheshire ( we needed both)Lovely breakfast. Efficient, helpful staff. It perfectly suited our short term requirements. Would have been over priced at the regular rate - as would breakfast.Don't think the hotel interior equated with the price we saw at the desk.Slightly shabby for that. Skirtings were very dusty The reduced rate and breakfast "vouchers" made it more do-able.
Bar in front of the reception. Breakfast is ok with some range of selection. Restaurant was not good. Lack of selection, not good service. Convenient to take dinner at bar.
swimming pool and gym
Quiet location. Good parking facilities. Good quality evening meal, buffet style. Were given a good price for having meal and breakfast.
The staffs service was sensational, they were friendly welcoming and talkative. I dont think I have had service this good in the last few years. n/A
leisure facilities and breakfast we have two young kids but given a double bed and a sofa bed which. was crowded and we did not sleep well at all. As two kids did not want to share the sofa bed so one of each adult had to sleep with a kid. The sofa bed was small and too soft, not comfortable at all. I think the staff could have given us a biger room.
the facililties swwimming, etc were good Lack of a mini bar in the room The food was very expensive . (20 pounds for a 3-course meal) and yet it was just like a normal pub lunch. It gets more expensive with the silly service charge ?
Only downside was cost of Breakfast. £12.95 is a bit steep when you need a minimal breakfast! It was more than a 2-course evening meal!
Excellent location for Potteries visits in and around Stoke. Good quality hotel with a good leisure complex at a very good price. Very minor....TV in the room, was old and not very many channels..i.e. not even Freeview channels
it was worth the money and the bar/restaurant was good
We had a meal int he evening of our arrival in the restaurant next door which was good. Breakfast the next morning unfortunately was not any good at all. We waited 40 minutes for our breakfast which was not cooked properly one of our group had raw eggs on their breakfast. Definately would not return to this hotel in future. Staff not pleasant at all. 5 staff in the morning were sitting around while 1 girl ran around like a headless chicken.
Spacious room with all you needed. The breakfast was very good except for the lack of marmalade and the a.m. service was helpful and friendly.. No staff on reception on arrival. When we found someone from the bar he was not very informative. Temperature was hot in some areas, cool in others.
The spacious room
Good basic hotel.
the staff were very friendly and the hotel was very easy to find.
Waiting nearly 1 hour to book in
Convenience of location Accommodation very tired, needs a good freshening up; breakfast not starting till 7.30 is late for business clients with 8am starts elsewhere; expensive when breakfast not included given the standard of the accommodation.
Good location, Big room, Good service from stuff Coffe Corner not clean enough
Clean room nice comfitable bed Its getting ready for a bit of redecoration and no remote for the telly.
Great food good accomodation very helpful staff
Pleasant and helpful staff. The bed was too hard for my comfort, but may well suit others.
A well-run 'one man band' hotel, with spotlessly clean en-suite room; quiet; cheap plain cooking and a reasonably-priced bar. They even let me keep my bike in the room (I stayed the night before doing a cycle race, having traveled up by train). None really.
Location was ideal for our needs. I would recommend this hotel for certain reasons but overall, it was very average. The ill-fitting door caused a strong cold draught and the toilet flush was defective. There was no night porter.
Friendly staff, nice restaurant attached Poor digital tv connection (crackling picture/sound). Room a bit basic for 4*
Staff amazingly friendly; exceptionally clean and well equipped room; lovely shopping area on the site. The toilet door is not really appropriate...frosted glass with no lock or seal...not everyone wants to share or hear toilet sounds!
Generally the hotel was clean. Reception seating area and bedrooms were air conditioned. Breakfast was very good value Hotel is ideally located next to junction 15 of the m6 and it was easy to travel to various local locations. Gents toilets could have been cleaner.
Good standard of accomodation and breakfast. It beat other hotels with higher gradings stayed in during the same week easily. Staff were excellent, resolving issues of different price on booking.com and their billing system willingly and without fuss
Clean, spacious room, good shower, good bed n/A
Very peaceful.. with exception of the window cleaner outside.. The room was clean.. modern.. very cosy.. but it was freezing cold.. not very inviting at all cause unless under the duvet you needed to leave ur coat on
The resturant had a good menue to select from, and the prices were well set so that you did not feel you were suplementing the reasonable room pric. The glass doored toilet/shower room may not be to everyones taste, though as a spectical I enjoyed it.
Functional. Clean and modern compared to other hotels in the zone No bathroom commodities. Tiny bathroom.
Cleanliness. Comfortable bed. Excellent evening meal Bathroom - not keen on sink in the bedroom. No iron/ironing-board. Breakfast - insufficient kitchen staff led to congestion and continual delays of up to 20 minutes for cooked food. Queues also for toast and coffee tasted stale.
Lovley location staff very efficient and courteous. Overall decor etc was very fresh clean and inviting and room was clean and just what you need. We will definately be returning to trentham gardens premier inn. The price of Breakfast could have been a little lower. We may have had one if it were. Breakfast a bit pricey
Simple easy hassle free experience None
Friendly efficient staff, clean comfortable room, well-heated. Excellent breakfast with good choice of continental and English ingredients.
Good location close to M6. Very quiet No
Easy access No tea bags found for a cuppa!!
swimming pool ,restaurant, quick response to requests. fair amount of noise late at night due to wedding guests
friendly staff room service was basic
Food was very good. My room (207) was a little noisy and the bed was very firm.
The hotel was comfortable and good value for money
Quiet, good mannered staff and prompt service with excellent breakfast of traditional Staffordshire oatcakes, a real winner.
Staff friendly and very helpful, room clean and comfortable, breakfast very average.
Friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel. Lovely breakfast. Poor selection of food in the Oyster Bar especially for the price.
Very Friendly Staff. Good Clean Room Food Very Good Quality But Most Items Over Priced
It had a nice garden The address on the internet booking form was incorrect and took us to a destination that resulted in a 50 kilometer detour
Pleasant, peaceful hotel.
The hotel was nice and informal, staff very nice. Although the food was good, it needs to settle on a style - the menu was a bit mixed. Saying that, the breakfast was excellent!
The hotel and room was very good.. The evening meal was very poor.
Room was clean with tea making fascilities, bed comfortable. Run out of kippers for breakfast but was offered salmon, good coffee.
Staff very friendly. Hotel gardens beautiful. Food excellent Little things. I had to find some one to take my menu order for dinner. Breakfast bowls for cerial where not out on the table, and it took me 15 mins to find someone, in the end I asked the cleaner. the evening meal dished had not been cleared away from the night before. The tv remote was missing from my room. As the hotel was not full this could have been resolved by giving me one from another room.
Peaceful. Relaxed. Garden suite was lovely.
Very friendly environment and a nice homely feel. Also able to accomodate 5 in a room - a real plus for the family.
We stayed Bed and Breakfast and the breakfast was wonderful. Very good value for money. Also, the room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. We didn't have any complaints at all about our stay. It was very pleasant and comfortable.
Great hotel, friendly staff, excellent value for money. An all round very good dog friendly hotel.
Bed very cmfortable. Room clean. breakfast excellent. None
Good breakfasts; friendly staff; dog-friendly Lots of lace and frills on duvets, curtains etc
peace and quite
Very comfortable and clean room.Nice breakfast and friendly service.Great value Internet connection was poor
location close to M6
Convenient for M6, well soundproofed, attractive grounds, clean rooms, spare pillows, friendly proprietor, easy parking Sense of being rushed at breakfast, no draught beer in bar
Location, pleasant cheerful service, very clean and presentable andgood value for money.
warm and frendly the tv did not show all channels and some like itv keep freezing
Very pleasant Reception staff, helpful and friendly. No
We have been staying here for last 15 years we are seeing it slowly decline which is a great shame. Very noisy Thin Walls, kept awake all night by room next door. Bed too small
the layout of the hotel was excellent everything was easy to get to from the car parks to the reception and the lounge right through to the rooms none
Helpful friendly staff Long queue at checkout
The decor & staff. The restaurant let the whole place down, although they do good steak. Some of the facilities - restaurant - were poor - food also was very poor. I would recommend only a nights stay - no food
No problems; hassle free; excellent receptionist. Friendly staff
staff v helpful no
Good comfortable well-appointed accommodation in a convenient location close to the M6. The service in the restaurant during our evening meal was a bit slow.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The best feature of the hotel was location and the breakfast ! the location in Stone town centre was very near the restaurant we was booked in for our christmas party. we walked to the restaurant and back in a couple of minutes,so pefect location for us. we could hear the next room turning lights on and off, along with bathroom fans. The walls must be paper thin ! The milk sachets in the rooom were out of date, and when we opened the one it was mouldy. The hotel receptionist [male ] was grumpy and never asked if we enjoyed our stay. windows were dirty with damp and mould.Bathroom not very clean.
The hotel is in the town centre and everything in walking distance. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Loved the bar with the wood burner lovely on a winters evening.
Room was clean enough but needed a bit of a update. Barman was very friendly and helpful in smaller bar. Room needed an update and bar closed too early.
Staff all profesional and friendly, exceptionally clean throughout the hotel - breakfast excellent - I stayed in a lodge room and was very pleased with the standard -a lovely hotel and I will use again in the future. Breakfast food and service top class.Couldn't fault anything. There were none
Breakfast was very good
Location for event we were attending. Good price and better than Travel Lodge Small telivision
The main part of the hotel was beautiful. That we were in the lodge part of the hotel an they could not accommodate in the main hotel when asked.
The Crown Hotel is located in the centre of Stone.
overall positive comments for everything
The hotel was very clean, good size room, everything we needed for our overnight stay. Good bar area. The lady who checked us out was very pleasent, great location right in the centre, good night life. The gentleman who booked us in was misserable and didn't smile once, not good.
