Otocec is a lovely castle hotel an easy drive from Ljubliana. The setting on its own island is a delight, our room (a junior suite) was spacious, the bathroom the best of any hotel in our 2-week trip. They boast about their restaurant, and it is not exaggerated.

There are no negatives about the hotel itself, but if one were staying for a longer time than we did and looking for variety in restaurants, the hotel is not close to any town of note so options would be limited. But the hotel restaurant is of such high quality that eating there twice was for us completely acceptable.

The saunas were OK but not very big and they stay open till 11pm friday and saturday.

Food was average, service was substandard. I was not able to get ice sent up to the room at 8pm. Staff at front desk was more interested in watching TV and told me to go the restaurant and get my ice there. The bed was hard as a rock as were the pillows. In my reservation, I requested a room on the top floor and a jacuzzi bathtub. I got neither when I checked in. Pool was not very big.

Everything was OK. We stayed in an "apartment" (bigger than expected) that was quite comfortable. The area is very nice. I recommend a visit to Otocec castle nearby.

The hotel was an "industrial operation" like you can find in many places. Professional but quite big and impersonal. If you go there for the Thermal waters, the hotel is perfectly fine, but otherwise there are many much nicer places in Slovenia to visit ;-). The swimming pools were nice (although there were too many people if you really wanted to swim).
