Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was nicely decorated.
The room was too hot, the heating was off and we left the windows open when we were out but being next to the train station we had to close them at night because of the train noise. Room could do with complimentary ear plugs.
Breakfast was great. The staff couldn't be more helpful.
Nothing was unlikable.
We booked the Parklands last minute as we needed a quick place to stay and it didn't disappoint. Two fine rooms, completely different in style, but both comfortable and clean. The breakfast was friendly and tasty though we recommend to stick to the tea only.
The hotel is in a seemingly old building, which is noticeable when walking the stairs and by the temperature in the hotel. Noise from other guests can be heard, but it adds to the charm of the hotel too..
The location was lovely. The room was large and comfortable. It was easy to see that considerable effort had gone into making it pleasant for guests. The staff were obliging and very approachable. A problem with my toilet was fixed quickly and without fuss.
Breakfast was overpriced. My wife ordered scrambled eggs with toast but the scrambled eggs were tasteless so she ended up eating one a half slices of toast for 16.5 pounds. The pot of tea had one tea bag and was very weak. Overall the meals are overpriced. Not having a lift was a problem when trying to get heavy suitcases upstairs. The receptionist did offer to help after I had taken two upstairs.
Not a lot.
Beds very uncomfortable. Wasps & flies in the room. Beer/ lager not pulled properly. No atmosphere. When pointing out to staff a complaint about breakfast not being cooked properly they retaliated rather than offering to replace things. Totally unprofessional!
