9.5 Excellent
Pros: food was good, and good varities. tractor ride and boat ride excellent activities. road was good. looking out from pavilion was wonderful.
Cons: the three to five tea was a good idea, but not really executed very well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lived up to expectations. Free guided tour included - and we self-drove the very extensive grounds. And walked around the property too. Pool was nice. Staff great and very helpful. Offered a laundry service - took them up on that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food is good, but sort of repetitive
Cons: location and staff
7.5 Good
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff with great English. Very beautiful and well kept ranch.
Cons: Food was only okay. Drinking water is not provided.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: it is a superb place for birdwatching you can just wander off by yourself
Cons: be warned: this is NOT the place/the environment to go on a jaguar trips or organise one this is more a hotel than a working ranch
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting. Enjoyable first experience of the Pantanal wildlife in the dry season. The wet season flora experience sounds better though. The staff were very helpful in finding other guests to share our activities with, to keep our costs down.
Cons: Be prepared to pay for drinks, including drinking water. That said, prices aren't unreasonable.

7.0 Good
Pros: Location on the Pantanal is great. The freelance guides ( Raul and Pliny) were excellent.
Cons: Buffets at ever meal. This was especially bad at dinner where the whole meal wa over in less than 30 minutes. The package is all inclusive. The behaviour of fellow guests was perhaps the most surprise wild life spotting on the trip!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely helpful. Bruno our guide was excellent. Food was delicious, fresh and home cooked.
Cons: Room could have been a bit better
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Firstable, our guides, who are really passionated. Thanks a lot. the lodge is beautiful and very clean, there are many animals around the logde and even in the property Food was very good, and staff very professionnal
Cons: swimming pool had a problem and we could not use it during 2 days, it s a problem in relation with cost of the room. We think price is too expensive, and moreover, be careful to hidden costs of transfer from cuiaba. Araras is 32 km from the beggining of transpantaneira, it is not so far and the road is goodin during dry season of course, but the agency charges you as you go to Porto Jofre...we finally take an uber ,round trip was less than 100 euros vs 400 euros with agency..
7.0 Good
Pros: The lodge participates in animal rehabilitation programs, which allows a close view on great animals such as Macaws. Great place for relaxing and spotting wildlife!
Cons: Hidden cost that seem to have extreme profit margins: - Transportation from/to the airport at 225 Real (€60) per trip per person. For this reason we took an Uber, which cost us 150 Real for the trip (only 1/3 of the hotel shuttle price when travelling with 2 persons). - The main event, a trip to see jaguars, cost an additional 1600 Real per person (€430)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Guide and driver picked us up at airport. Wonderfully attentive staff. Animals in wild setting.
Cons: Price a little steep
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location & wildlife activities. Every aspect of our stay was excellent with friendly & very helpful staff. We had an English speaking wildlife guide who was very knowledgeable and brilliant at locating & identifying wildlife. Exceptionally clean throughout with lovely food.
Cons: We had no dislikes & nothing needs to be improved. Everything is excellent
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great host, great guide - small groups for activities, broad range of tours offered. We had an awesome experience with all the birds and animals in the Pantanal! Room was clean, interesting books and games provided in common room, excellent and plenty of food! We truly enjoyed our stay!
Cons: Rather expensive compared to the rest if the country but worth every cent!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved Everything!! It was very nnice family time, meeting people and enjoying nature.

Pantanal Mato Grosso Hotel - Poconé - Building
8.6 Excellent (265 reviews)
Overview Reviews

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Planning an event in Pocone? This hotel has 947 square feet (88 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent tours included. The guided walk through the forest was particularly good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the Transpantanejra. Meaning that it is not too far from Pocone but deep enough to see more wildlife. The hotel is also next to a river with a deck to relax and attempt to fish piranhas. The rooms and facilities themselves are clean but very (basic which is standard for the region). The staff is very friendly, helpful and flexible. Special thanks to Josue (Peixinho) who took us on a boat trip that was the highlight of our stay in Pantanal.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic and very patient with our attempts to communicate with English, broken Portuguese and sign language. The manager was fantastic and very welcoming. The trails behind the lodge were excellent for birding and exploring the forest. The food was average to good (buffet style). The location is very central: about 60km (1.5 hours) from Porto Jofre and less than 60km from lodges on the Pocone side. The staff were really helpful and set us up with boat trips at other lodges and out of Porto Jofre. They also accommodated us after another booking fell through. One day there was a Jaguar found along the river near the lodge and they spontaneously got all of the visitors into their boats and down the river to see the big cat. It was an amazing experience and shows how flexible and helpful the staff were (no extra cost).
Cons: There are two things that need to be fixed at this lodge. 1. There was a strong smell of sewage towards the back of the property. Clearly waste treatment needs to be improved. It appears that raw waste was entering the river from the lodge. 2. People were allowed to smoke throughout the central lodge grounds. Given the open windows to the rooms this meant that we were regularly assaulted by the smell of smoke. Restricting smoking to an area in the parking lot would be a big improvement.
Hotel e Churrascaria Pantaneira - Poconé - Building
8.7 Excellent (57 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, shower was hot, bed was comfy and the staff were nice. Only stayed one night as I was passing through the town but I would go back
Cons: Not much really
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, with friendly staff, excellent location for a Pantanal trip.
Cons: Shampoo would be helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, and served early for us on the first morning when we had to leave at 6 a.m.
Cons: No issues
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and accommodating
Cons: Lack of tea making facilities in room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice place if you are going to explore the pantanal by yourself, which you can do even if they tell you you can't. The staff was very nice people and helped us with everything we needed. The restaurant is amazing and breakfast is great. Rooms are newly refurbish and very clean.
Cons: Nothing to complain about this property...

Pros: Fantastic breakfast. Polite and helpful staff. Clean with good AC.
Cons: Wifi could be slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and amazing breakfast! All fresh and handmade.
Cons: No complaints
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff. The value. The atmosphere.
Cons: Difficult to get to any shops and the cashpoint unless $RS 30 each time. Would love it to serve snacks.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Yowling cats on the roof kept us awake. But staff were friendly and helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfasts very good Secure parking Location
Cons: Bathrooms small
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. For the money it was perfect.
Cons: No restaurant or any snacks for sale. Mini bar was good value though. I sent out for pizza and it wasnt cooked enough underneath though topping very tasty. Chips were great. Having to pay 30 reals each time to go into town...just to see if cashpoint had money in was a pain. If you had your own car it would be brilliant!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff is great! Breakfast is delicious! Rooms very basic but the beds are super comfortable.
Cons: It was a little difficult to take a shower without getting everything in the bathroom wet. The "court yard" looked a little reminiscent of a construction site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very good cost-benefit. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful! They organised the tours for us and offered to drive us to the pousadas for much less money than a taxi would have charged us (taxi is quite expensive). Very negotiable and welcoming people.
Pousada Rio Claro - Poconé - Building
8.3 Excellent (72 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Pousada Rio Claro in Pocone, you'll be just steps from Pantanal Reserve and Transpantaneira Terminus. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The tours and all the food is included in the price, so an excellent value for money! The guides from the pousada were particurarly friendly, and go the extra mile to show their guests the real Pantanal. As the pousada is at the river you can discouver the Pantanal straight from the pousade, taking the boat!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds of the Rio Claro are nicely manicured and well-maintained. There's an example of a pica-pao, a traditional Pantanal home, and bird feeders installed throughout the grounds attract all kinds of Pantanal birds, from cardinals, parrots, and jacutingas to caracaras. The centerpiece of the Rio Charo is the large community room and an excellent staff that serves the traditional Brasilian breakfast of breads, tropical fruits, cheeses, and cold cuts. The guides for the activities were good and knowledgeable. All buildings and public spaces, including our room, were clean; however, our room wasn't cleaned at all during our four day stay. I think we were supposed to have posted the "please clean the room" sign on the door, maybe? But no one else did, so we were confused by this.
Cons: If you don't speak Portuguese, it's really difficult to communicate with the front desk staff (my daughter is fluent). When we arrived, the guy at the desk told us we wouldn't see any animals in the area, an odd thing to say! It was true that the best animal sitings were farther south in Porto Jofre (giant river otter, jaguars), but I was glad we stayed in the Rio Claro area because of its centralized location in the Pantanal. If your goal is to see jaguars, you must take a boat from Porto Jofre. We visited in July and saw a mother and single offsrping, a fantastic experience. BTW, rent a high-clearance car with a large capacity gas tank if you can; the roads and bridges can be sketchy and gas is scarce. We found it difficult to get reliable, consistent information from the Rio Claro staff. We also thought it would be good if the RC would post quiet hours; many of the other guests were not respectful of others and partied loudly late into the night, not the Rio Claro's fault, but it seems like tourists always need to be reminded of the presence of other travelers.
5.8 Okay
Pros: In nature. Well preserved surroundings By a nice river.
Cons: Bed linen had not been changed when room was made for us. The bed looked like change but close look revealed debris from previous guest. cStaff is not well trained and slow to react. Only 2 hairdryers for 30 rooms!
6.8 Good
Pros: Wonderful meals, very delicious! Great tour guide Benedicto and great English speaking co- Manager Roger, who helped a lot to make this stay pleasant! We saw many wild animals.
Cons: Neither owners nor most of the working staff do great their guests and you do not feel welcomed by them. Quite unpolite and unfriendly!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: - meals ok / kitchens staff nice - guide does a good job, but the tours are very short !
Cons: - Room very dirty and heavily infested with mold - Shower in bad condition, cold and dirty water - Pool very dirty and not usable - Included in the price Tour was not performed ! - Hotel Mananger at the Enpfang is very unfriendly and looks better youtube if you have a question as a guest and stands in front of him
5.0 Okay
Pros: Activities included in the booking if booked with booking.com. Food was good. One staff member spoke English and was very helpful.
Cons: Weren't ready for us at check in and tried to put us in a smaller room than we had booked online. In order to change to our actual room we had to wait an hour for it to be cleaned. They only seem to clean the rooms as needed. Given it's not peak season this meant most of the rooms were dirty. Drinking water is not included and it's expensive for a little bottle (1usd) We were the only people there and there isn't a lot to do outside of the activities and no staff to really suggest anything as most staff members don't speak English (apart from the one mentioned above) and don't really want to try I felt.
7.5 Good
Pros: I like very math the emploees. Very kind peple
