Dream Weaver Inn - Puerto Peñasco - Bedroom
9.1 Excellent (44 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Dream Weaver Inn in Puerto Penasco, you'll be by the sea, just steps from El Malecon and 4 minutes by foot from Fisherman's Monument. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was small, but used the space very efficiently. There was also a patio space with a beautiful view of the sea. The paint and decor was unique and beautiful, and everything was well maintained. The shower went into a drain in the bathroom floor, rather than taking up a separate space, but everything dried quickly in the coastal desert climate. I had to run the water for quite a while before it got warm, but once it did, it was plenty hot for my shower. This might mean an energy efficient heater with a switch, or a tankless system. I didn't ask. But LED lighting and solar panels suggest a commitment to environmental friendliness and efficiency. The owner was polite and friendly, and although he was not always in the office, we were able to keep in touch by text message. We got lost, and he stayed quite late waiting for us, and was very kind and polite about it. He made sure we knew that GPS might not get us there, and suggested printing a map from Google. This is important! The street names change frequently, and signs are not always accurate or even present. The hotel is right across fom the Plaza de Colosio in Old Port, next to an empty lot with "ocean view lot for sale" painted on a wall. I had to have a local show me the way the first time, but if you print out a map, you should have no problem. The location is convenient to a tourist section of Old Port, with shopping, patio restaurants, pharmacies, bars, frequent live music, palm trees, seagulls, fresh seafood, and ocean views. The people nearby are friendly and helpful. The WIFI was useful, since international data roaming can be quite expensive. This was a great value for the money. It had everything we needed, and nothing we didn't.
Cons: Parking was listed as an amenity, but there isn't actually a parking lot. Street parking was available, and there is a gravel lot in the rubble of an abandoned building across the street. (Such abandoned structures are common in this part of Mexico, and do not indicate a bad neighborhood, as some Americans might fear.) So it is possible to park your car or truck nearby, but it's not what you might think from the description. Still, no one messed with our van there on the street, so it was fine. It is a border town, so it is best avoided during Spring Break. Since my husband and I look young, street vendors offered to sell us illegal drugs, and tried to pursuade us to come to tequila bars. This is not a reflection on the hotel, of course, but on American tourists who have corrupted this place. Overall, it was a lovely vacation. Navigating Puerto Penasco can be confusing, as street names change frequently, and signs are often incorrect or missing. Bring a map! And don't be afraid to ask for directions, even if you don't speak good Spanish. People here are generally friendly and glad to help, some for tips, many just out of genuine human kindness.

Pros: The Dream Weaver is a great place. Super clean, super accommodating and very uniquely decorated. The owner/manager is so helpful and friendly. All around a great place!
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Close to the old part of town Unique hotel nice ownership
Cons: air conditioning units were undersized, but we stayed during the peak hot season they didnt serve coffee in bed :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is idyllic. All the comforts of an American studio apartment, nestled in Rocky Point's Old Port. The owner took great care of us, providing tips about the area and making us feel at home. The inn is decked out in colorful Mexican decor and kept very tidy. This an absolute gem.
Cons: No complaints whatsoever.

Pros: Right on the water

6.8 Good
Pros: I truly enjoyed the unit that I stayed in. Totally fabulous!
Cons: The check-in and checkout process was not only extremely long, it was totally unorganized. Then the pool identification and towel process is a lot of waisted energy. Finally after a long day, around 8:30pm I went to the hot tub, and I was so disappointed. The hot tub isn’t hot at all, warm yes, but not hot.

8.5 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING at the hotel was very good to excellent with the exception of the Check-In/Check-Out process.
Cons: We (and people trying to Check-In) waited almost an hour to check out. The reason is that for most of the time, they had ONE PERSON at the deck..... FINALLY, they added two people to the desk, but this is just POOR MANAGEMENT!!! Why in the world would you have ONE PERSON at the Check-In/Check-Out Desk at the busy check-in/check-out time (11AM)???? Common sense tells you to have THREE PEOPLE at the desk from the hours of 10:30 to 11:30. Just having 3 people at that desk during that one hour would have allowed people to check out and check in much faster than waiting an hour. You can reduce the number of people to 2 at 11:30.
9.4 Excellent
Cons: We found someone else's panties hanging in our shower.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with nice views.
Cons: The first time that I had been in a hotel that had me sign and initial on paperwork upon my arrival, to NOT bring outside food, coolers even leftovers from a restaurant. We were not allowed to bring in outside drinks, even water! Unless you purchase from their hotel. It was definitely a turn off. The irony of it all was that there was a microwave in the room.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Nice rooms
Cons: I asked for a late check-out and wanted to charge me $10 for one hour. Difficult parking too. I bought a hat at the boutique with a minor defect and asked them for a discount and they said they couldn't sell me the hat because it would look bad on the hotel to sell defective merchandise. Beware, if You need something like toothpaste (toiletries), they can't accommodate things like that, you have to wait until the store opens in order to buy it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was awesome! They were helpful and accommodating. Price was great for quality of stay. I'll be back! Better than resort row cuz you can walk to all the fun
9.4 Excellent
Pros: It was all good. Was able to bring my dog.
Cons: late night noise in adjacent room & hall
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Love the pool bar and the location to the beach. I also like the proximity to local bars and nightlife. The staff is very attentive and managers speak English. They have music next to the pool bar that is playing excellent music and they have a great happy hour by the pool. (2 for 1 drinks from 3-7) The rooms are immaculate and the entire complex is the same way. They have cabanas by the pool!! There is a separate family pool from the bar pool.
Cons: They don't allow coolers, so you can't bring in your own beer and drinks. There is only 1 elevator for the whole complex. The beds are like sleeping concrete, they are hard as hell.
7.1 Good
Pros: I loved the view of the pool area and next to the beach, everything looked nice.
Cons: I was disappointed with the breakfast cause I thought it was included with my stay since it said online "breakfast was included" so kinda like false advertisement. The blow dryer didn't work in my hotel room, so had to use the fan to dry my hair!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: For Mexico standards the hotel was nice but the staff were horrible. It was kind of clean The view was nice The access to the beach was nice
Cons: The check in process was horrible and took way to long. Staff were rude and not helpful The restaurant's were not good and had horrible service The beds were so hard The hotel is loud
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable
Cons: One of the staff members was very rude to us when we arrived but his supervisor quickly stepped up and corrected him and she offered us free breakfast. I was very impressed. I was about to cancel the reservation and book another hotel but she won my business. I will be using the hotel again
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pools
Cons: The restaurant prices
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First time at Puerto Peñasco but it will definitely not be our last. Our stay was pleasant, I loved it and my kids loved the pool.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like is that one of the towel guys gave us a little hard time when I went to go ask for towels. It seem to me that he didn't know what he was doing.
Hotel Lluvia Del Mar - Puerto Peñasco
8.4 Excellent (193 reviews)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was clean and the area was well lit at night. We felt safe.
Cons: There was no "Do Not Disturb" sign. Housekeeping came in to clean and took away out toothbrushes and tooth paste. We had to wait until morning to get them back. The next day we asked for a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Front Desk made one for us out of paper but it wouldn't stay on the door. He came to the room with tape to secure it. Upon check out we were told that we had not been charged the extra 3% City Tax that we should have, so we paid it at that time. You have to leave a $20 deposit for your room key and the remote control. It was returned to me after our room was certified to be left as we found it and we took back the key and TV remote. I had never run into this before.

Pros: Fantastic views, spectacular beach and access, and it terrific restaurant\bar next-door with a great happy hour right on the water !!! All the fancier resorts had a lot of fees attached where as Playa Bonita did not charge all those extra fees Through kayak we paid $81 a night
Cons: The rooms have some issues The drapes are difficult open, the doors squeak, the air-conditioner is very mediocre at best and our dresser drawers did not want to stay closed Probably because of the price it's pretty crowded and noisy on weekends

6.0 Good
Pros: The beauty of the surroundings.
Cons: My condo/room was very old and run down. It didn't even provide the basics like dish soap. If you're not going to provide simple stuff like that, please advise customers in advance so we can pack accordingly.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location,it was very close to the beach. However they had so many restrictions and areas that we couldn't have access to. During the 3 days I was there, they were working with super loud noises in the condo next to us. The staff did nothing about it.
Cons: I didn't like that their instructions were not very clear. Once I got there I had to pay extra and get an upgrade. The website said "up to 4 adults...all children are welcome", but when I was there they charge for minors (12 and up) as adults.

Hotel Senorial - Puerto Peñasco - Building
7.9 Good (446 reviews)
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I used to appreciate the security guard and semi closed parking lot. Sportsbook - bar on site
Cons: Semi dead cockroach in bathroom of first room. Water on floor of entryway of bottom floor room (leaked in from rain). Beds are matresses on hard - fixed boxes. Only had 3 toels and zero washcloths in room, asked for 5 more and were only given 2 more after long verbal pleading with security guard ( who appears to make all decisions about requests)Bathroom toilet not working in 2nd room. Strip club out back window of bathroom. Had tent-canopy cut from suv roof and stolen. Security guard was asked to watch out for it but I suspect his frequent trips to his own truck was for a nip or 2 and he was nowhere to be seen in AM. (Police arrived within 2 minutes after phone call and seemed competent and were very polite and easy to deal with). Hotel Senorita used to be better but I fear that time has changed it.

Pros: It was convenient to the beach and to The great restaurant at Plya Bonita.
Cons: Dragging luggage upstairs.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel was close to the beach and there was a guard watching vehicles and people come to and from to increase safety.
Cons: The hotel is not well maintained and the staff did not seem to care about their guests at all. There was no hot water in the room. I complained about it and was told to let the right tap run for 10-15 minutes because a pump was broken. That did not work cuz it was the cold tap so i had a cold shower. I suspect the guy at the front counter who lied to me had a good laugh at my expense. Complained again and on day 2 a guy fixed it after 5 minutes without tools. The pool and hot tub were freezing again i was told a pump broke. Well fix it!!! It's not my fault the hotel was empty and i assume that was why we were treated so poorly. I had to tip the cleaning lady twice before we got hand and face towels and a second bar of soap. The sliding glass door needs adjusting as it all rusty. We have push it open with great force. There is a lot of poorly maintained items in this hotel. Its really pooly managed no wonder why people avoid it. I checked out a day early due to a family emergency and when i asked for a refund for the night i never used. I was told to call the internet company because there was nothing they could do. I asked for them to help me and they refused. Saying their english was not very good. The first room they gave us had a broken sliding glass handle see above for reason why. Only one english channel on tv cnn and the remote did not work until i complained again and then a guy put in the code for the remote and the ac remote needed fixing too. Hey at least they tipped eveything they fixed something. In all it was a horrible experience and i will never recommend this hotel to anyone but i will tell people to avoid it!!! Best western should never affliate their name with this hotel as it is an embarrassment.

Cons: Too far from beach if your hauling gear a foot. No way to drive up to beach had to drive around a bit. No fridge, no microwave, not enough towels. You had to sign out pool towels. Breakfast is in a cramped space and limited to hard boiled eggs and sweet bread some cereal and juice.
