Christophe who owned the wine store with tasting room and the apartments was very helpful, friendly and made us feel welcome. Loved our room. Chez Les Fatien - Beaune - Building

9.5 Excellent (116 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Chez les Fatien, you'll be centrally located in Beaune, within a 10-minute drive of Chateau de Pommard and Patriarche Père et Fils. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a library.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the character of the place. Very comfortable duplex, large. Well-appointed. Classic style, vg quality bed linen (comfy bed), modern bathroom with great bath and shower. Coffee machine in room apparently arriving the week after we left - that will be a very welcome addition, though the kitchen downstairs is open to guests anyway - with microwave, kettle, coffee etc so very good. This is a real hidden secret. Would also be great for a group taking all 4 rooms/duplexes. Staff friendly and helpful, always trying to be accommodating. Excellent location for central Beaune.
Cons: Confusion over management of breakfast timings but this may have been lost in translation and staff simply not quite knowing how to handle many people arriving at once. and manage expectations. A tip: welcome positive appraisal as just that - positive and supportive - and be grateful for it. Nobody is perfect! but we can always improve if we listen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a large room and quiet room. Authentic property. Nice quiet courtyard to sit outside. We had accessibility to an the lounge area where we could get refreshments
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property was simply magnificent in its cleanliness, facilities and amenities. The common areas and rooms were delightfully furnished and beautifully equipped. Water, welcome biscuits and excellent bathroom products were included. Jeanne, who welcomed and looked after us during our stay, could not have been more accommodating to our every request. A superb breakfast was served in the charming dining room and the only negative issue was in tearing ourselves away. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Cons: Nothing to improve. Every consideration was made for our comfort.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel itself is beautiful. The room was clean and we especially loved the breakfast. The courtyard was also nice to sit and enjoy some wine and cheese. It’s centrally located to Beaune old town and just a short stroll to the main shopping village.
Cons: For the high price we paid it was disappointing to have no Wi-fi in our room for the entire stay. We let the staff know and they apparently tried to fix it but still didn’t work. No offer of discount or anything. Also having the bedroom upstairs and bathroom downstairs is quite annoying, especially when you need to get up during the night for the toilet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Ver nice and quiet loacted autenthick and very characteristic place., close to the city centre of Beaune.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very charming helpful staff. Pretty courtyard, delicious breakfast. Very comfortable bed.
Cons: I did not like the stairs in the bedroom as bathroom on different floor to bedroom. Quite dark decoration too which is a shame as it would be better if pretty and French. Secure parking only available for smaller cars or average size cars not big cars.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice room and courtyard Very quiet
Cons: Breakfast was a little tired, but in fairness we were the only ones there two of the nights we stayed. No help after 6:00pm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming. Extremely comfortable.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a small gem in Beaune. We stayed in Room 1 which was very large and beautifully furnished. The bed and linens were luxurious and the wooden bed surround and wardrobe were gorgeous. The bathroom was also large and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious each morning. The location of the hôtel is excellent, just inside Beaune’s city walls but away from the noise of the main squares. Jeanne was very helpful with anything we needed and arranged a wine tasting with the Fatien family winemaker. We also highly recommend the restaurant owned by the hotel’s owners - Les Caves Madeleine, one of our favorite meals of our trip. Overall a fantastic stay and we were sorry to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was outstanding. The hostess went above and beyond to make our stay special.
Cons: There is not one thing we didn’t like.

Pros: Quiet location, comfortable bed, cozy room, helpful and friendly personnel. Perfect for business trips and leisure - they have a restaurant onsite.
Cons: Nothing to say.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in the heart of Burgundy wine region, this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Dinner on the first night was fantastic (we made sure to try all 9 wines in the degustation) and the hotel room was comfortable and spacious. If you are looking for a quiet little town to base yourself for a tour of Burgundy's vineyards then this is a great choice.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms Great staff very friendly Great food & wine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and great wine - what else do you need?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very attentive and friendly staff. Restaurant was excellent and the reason why we stayed was the wine and it didn’t disappoint.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff are just lovely, which is so important to us. Rooms are large and luminous, excellent large bath. Dogs accepted.
Cons: For 4 stars...very average stay, all around. In general bland. Rooms are average, both decor and comfort, + pricey (for the standard level). A bit too stark and colorless. No public areas for lounging. Hotel is located on what feels like an abandoned village square, far from vineyard views. Food was really quite uninspired, dishes not at all creative (bland in fact) and unexceptional, with tiny portions. price for quality lacking. The wine pairing is a great concept, but the wines really couldn't shine their brightest against the food. The important part, in spite of our own disappointment, is the impressive amount of work, thought and effort that go into private hotels such as this. Surely a labor of love that is to be applauded. We are very frequent travellers and Parisian foodies, so demand a lot from a 4 star hotel and its restaurant. The whole experience didn't meet expectations, but this should not discourage folks who love this region and its wines.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation is modern, stylish, clean and spacious. We had a very enjoyable stay and sampled some of Jacques' excellent wines; it was interesting to hear about his winemaking philosophy and methods. Very good breakfast too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very special accommodation occupying the second story of a very large, completely new structure in a small, working winery on the owner's property. The craftsmanship is amazing - solid, clean, everything is high quality.
Cons: Our stay should have been longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic converted barn attic, beautiful modern decor and facilities- absolutely first-rate
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christine and Jacques were very genial, welcoming, and provided a wonderful service. Christine served delicious breakfasts, including buttery croissants, fruits, local cheeses and coffee to order, from her deck overlooking the vineyards. The room was spacious, immaculate, stylish, light-filled, quiet and very comfortable with lovely views and everything we needed for our stay. The shower head was amazing! We were the only guests. Christine was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit (and patient with our poor attempts at speaking French!).
Cons: While not a real negative, we would have loved to hear more about their wine (some information left in the room, for example) and food, if possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous location with wonderful accommodation. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Incredibly luxurious and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an unbelievable find this is. I can't imagine a better location if you have even a slight interest in wine. It's in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, a short walk to the restaurants of the village, nevertheless, a car is needed for the location but free parking is available. I can't remember a time when I booked in to such a huge room. There's easily enough space in there for 2 and with a travel cot or bed, a small family could easily fit. Amazing shower, with views of the vineyards. Jacques and Christine are so welcoming. Very happy to offer guidance and advice on where to go and see and eat. Nothing is too much trouble. A lovely continental breakfast was served on their terrace overlooking the vines. Jacques also gave us a tour of his wine facilities and a tasting of his wine. When we're next in the area, we will be back for sure. Just superb!
Cons: Nothing. All was superb.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was large, spacious and beautifully appointed and the hosts were friendly, welcoming and charming. The wine tasting was knowledgeable and thoroughly entertaining.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was absolutely amazing and so was the view from the windows over the vines. The hosts really made us feel welcome and the breakfast in the morning was perfect to start our day. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Cons: This is not something we didn't like, but something to help people when they visit. There are a few restaurants in the village but you will HAVE to book. Otherwise you have to drive to the neighboring villages or town Beaune.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - a beautifully appointed, spacious room - a quiet, relaxing setting - proximity to great vineyards and restaurants - the kind and warm hospitality of the owners A great place to relax and unwind!
Cons: What is there not to like?
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing really to dislike just need to ensue that you have as many directions as possible in the car as the sat nav was an issue however that said the people in the town had no problem in sending us in the right direction.
7.0 Good
Pros: The setting
Cons: Food very restricted and basically below average I can doc better myself That is not the idea to. Go to a restaurant Breakfast over charged
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely property, very well appointed in a lovely, peaceful setting, which is a fair way to the local village. Unfortunately, we hadn't booked dinner as not enough notice, but luckily we had stocked up at the local supermarket so that we didn't have to trek to the local village.
Cons: It would have been nice if there was a restaurant.

Cons: It would take me too much time to think it over and try to find something...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant staff and wine selection. Dinner and breakfast on the terrace was amazing. Beautiful hotel
9.3 Excellent
Pros: What a great guest house in an historic building close to the very heart of Meursault! Our suite included two private bedrooms and a beautifully remodeled bathroom, and was great for my wife and I and our 20 yr old daughter. We were very fortunate to have stayed on one of the Bach à Bacchus festival days - with a great guitar/accordion duo playing in the courtyard at Clos Saint Jacques; a great afternoon of music there and at other venues in Meursault. Our host was very gracious in allowing us to check in a bit early, and she provided a great breakfast in the courtyard the next day.
Cons: We happened to be in Meursault during a heat wave (early July), so my only wish would be for some air conditioning - though we understand that AC is pretty rare throughout France. Otherwise, a lovely stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were made to feel very welcome and the breakfast was splendid.
Cons: The property did not have its own parking, but we were able to park very close by.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely closed-in courtyard where we had breakfast. Good coffee. The hostess is very friendly and the room is nice but small. Very quiet location and close to the central square.
Cons: Internet very slow - small size of room. The room could really use a desk and another chair.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely characture place in the heart of the wonderful village of Meursault. So friendly & informative hosts. Charm & hospitality excellent. Chance to buy some superb village wines - and this is Meursault! Highly recommend!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice breakfast ( except the bread ) strong coffee and lots of it. Homemade jams and yogourt and bowl of fresh fruit. One morning melon, 2nd, bowl of cherries. It was 39c and they had done their best to keep the rooms as cool as they could with fans. This place is pretty with a lovely courtyard.
Cons: The local Boulangerie sells excellent croissants and baguette but we were offered a dull round bread sliced at the table or a sweet bread neither of which we liked. The second morning I went off to buy some croissants!!! Being very picky I’d have liked more flowers in the courtyard just to make it extra special.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money! Very good location, excellent breakfast, the owner was very welcoming and nice.

Well equipped kitchen, coffee maker and even an iron meant I could make my pants look decent!! We parked our car up the driveway and even had an area outside to sit.
Cons: The location is about a half hour walk to town so as long as you don’t mind then it is fine.

Apartment is situated not in the center (about 10-15 min by walk), but you can feel home atmosphere there :) very recommended!

Pros: A compact and well-equipped apartment in a quiet residential area about 25 mins walk from the station where there is a restaurant and a bar. Easy to park just outside the door. The friendly owner lives on site and met us at the door.

Pros: The hosts were extremely friendly. Sylvain met us when we arrived and spoke excellent English. The room was perfectly clean and nicely decorated with well thought out amenities. Staying in Beaune in this room was a definitely a highlight of our Europe tour. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed biking around Beaune. And visiting the museums and vineyards. Sylvain and his family went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and insure we felt comfortable and had the best stay possible. If I return to France I will make sure to visit This studio in Beaune again!

Pros: Mr and Mrs Hodkinson found their stay at L'Hotel absolutely delightful, the property was beautiful, the room was spacious and everything the owners could do to make their stay more enjoyable they did. Mr Hodkinson found the stay fantastic and would not hesitate to stay in future, should he find himself in the Burgundy region again. The hotel even contacted Mr Hodkinson in advance to notify that restaurants got busy and could they make a reservation in their bistro, which Mr Hodkinson and his wife accepted. They were able to bring their pet with them and were blown away by the quality of the food and wine of course!!
Cons: There was no criticism at all of their stay.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great as we could leave our car and walk to the centre of Beaune very easily. The owner is away on an extended holiday. We were hosted by Veronique who was very obliging and did her best to respond to any of our needs. The breakfasts were quite sufficient with fresh bread and croissants each morning accompanied by cereal, yoghurt and a selection of jam spreads. When it was fine breakfast was served in the courtyard and in the event of unfavourable weather it was to be served upstairs in the house. Breakfast was a good time to meet and converse with other guests.
Cons: Our room was on the ground floor adjacent to the lane. We couldn’t have our windows open at night for fresh air because of the noise of cars passing so close. It was a quiet little lane but nevertheless any passing car was obtrusive if the windows were open. We recommend a room bordering the inside courtyard as a preference.

Pros: Location and accommodation perfect!

Pros: Excellent location beautifully appointed and the staff couldn’t do more for you. One of our favourite places to stay.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed this boutique hotel very much. It's an older building with plenty of character and is interesting because all of rooms are different. We had a suite on the first floor, the room was extremely spacious with high beamed ceilings and 2 bathrooms which is somewhat unique. There was a bit of noise from the floors creaking when the upstairs neighbors walked around but it was delightful to our ears and is definitely part of the ambiance we were looking for in Beaune. Location is inside the walled city and close for restaurants, wine shops and other shopping. We look forward to our next visit

Pros: I had stayed at this hotel several times in the past and it was always a convenient place to stop over on the way to the South of France. Restaurant was good but rooms were a bit stuffy. There has obviously been a considerable revamp and rooms are now excellent with air conditioning and the restaurant is as good if not better than before. The whole experience is really first class.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Everything was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Spacious bedroom and bathroom; comfortable bed; good quiet A/C Excellent breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and cleanliness
Cons: We stayed in a double bed rooms, everything is fine except the stairs and the bed rooms were too hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large, comfortable bed, lovely cool room. Very close to town centre.
Cons: Was not able to have dinner at hotel as they were fully booked. Maybe hotel booking site should highlight that as they have a very small dining room, guests are not guaranteed a table unless they request at time of booking room?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s located in an old abbey. You get to eat breakfast under the old stone arches and sleep looking out over the rooflines of the town. It is superb.
Cons: Not a thing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location,in town
6.8 Good
Pros: Great location. Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Junior Suite did not offer the ‘touches’ we expected. The room was large but dark & the bathroom too narrow with no surfaces for private items. An extra soap for two people would be appreciated. We suggest building a cabinet under the television to house the refrigerator & coffee machine . It felt like ‘the boxes were ticked for room fit out’ but there was no luxury element to call it a suite . It was simply a bigger room .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location in the very heart of Beaune is great for exploring the region of Burgundy. Working AC and a swimming pool in this heat were big pluses. Staying in a historical building was a great experience.
Cons: Unloading a car in this narrow street can be a challenge.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful. Location is good.
Cons: I don't mind to use stairs, but a really steep staircase between the bed and the toilet - it is a bit too much. I was told on arrival that TV and air conditioning has limited options, and indeed it was true. I couldn't change the volume on TV, or adjust the temperature. Hotel is clearly overpriced - 5 EUR for a half liter water in the minibar is a good proof for my words.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, with great staff, made everything very enjoyable!
