Pros: Hostel had a reading room full of resource books, hostess spoke excellent english and was very helpful about local information.
Pros: The Yendegaia House has a cosy atmosphere and provides a very lovely interior and excellent service. We enjoyed the breakfast and can very much recommend the pizza of the house owner.
Pros: Let me start by saying that if you are the kind of person who will spend over $200 for a hotel in Manhattan, this place might not be for you. If you are travelling on a budget through Punta Arenas and want a place within walking distance of the museums and restaurants, I'd recommend it. The owner and staff were very friendly, spoke some English, and provided a map of the area and a solid complimentary breakfast as early as we needed (7:30). They had a spot for our car (we asked ahead). We felt safe staying here - every room was inside, so you get two keys - one for the room and one for the building. There is a hot pot in the room with coffee and sugar, and a refrigerator and microwave. The rooms were small but not uncomfortably so, and the bathroom was large enough to have a tub.
Cons: We thought we were getting a double room with one bed when actually we got two beds - they were out of the rooms with double beds. The rooms were mostly clean and had heat, and the only thing I would have wanted was for the comforter to be washed. (We just took ours off the beds.) The hostal was across the street from some strip clubs that were active at all hours so it was a bit loud. However, this is pretty much par for "downtown" Punta Arenas, and what we expected since we wanted to be within walking distance of downtown.
Pros: Spacious clean rooms, accommodating staff, well located in small town close to bar / restaurant. Breakfast was best so far in Chile & Argentina so far. Would highly recommended this place
Cons: The low beam as you go up the stairs, twice I hit my head. Shower was a tight fit.
Pros: The house is a lovely property. The room we had was spacious. The decoration is very tasteful.
Cons: No hair dryer in a hostel in a climate that is very cold and damp seemed odd. I booked here as I'd read about the really good coffee. (Rare in Chile). When I ordered coffee from the Italian machine (which Id read about in a guide book), the server never mentioned that I had to pay extra for it. As I left I was told that I owed for 3 coffees. I felt that it was poor communication on their part to not tell me that it would be an added charge. This was the most expensive place I stayed in in Patagonia in about 1 month of traveling. Not sure it was worth the extra expense.
Pros: Great eclectic lodging. Very clean with friendly staff willing to assist. Great breakfast with abundant options. Also has a pizzeria though we didn’t eat there, that smelled amazing.
Pros: Really nice and cozy place. Rhe owner is very frinedly and gave us indications about moving around. We felt ver welcome.
Pros: Our second stay here. The hotel is cute, cosy and comfortable. Very clean and well managed. They make some of the best coffee in Patagonia/Tierra del Fuego. The Porvenir area is great for fishing. And be sure to check out the King Penguin colony, the only one outside of Antarctica!
Pros: Clean and comfortable room in restored historic home. Good standard breakfast with option to purchase fresh expresso coffee. Best coffee!! The owner, David, is highly knowledgeable about the region. We stayed in Porvenir following our visit to Parque Pingüino Rey. Highly recommended.
Pros: Beautifully decorated hosteria with a great atmosphere and lots of board games! And good WiFi.
Featuring free WiFi access and a complimentary breakfast including kuchen and freshly baked bread, Hostal Los Canelos offers accommodations located only two blocks from the main square of Porvenir. Lunch is available for an extra fee. The well-equipped rooms are all fitted with a private bathroom with shower, a TV with cable channels, bed linen and towels. Some rooms have an ocean view. Facilities offered at the property include a shared lounge, ironing service and free parking. The hostel is conveniently located near commerce and restaurants, and is 250 metres from Cordero Rusque Museum. Porvenir Airport is 6 km away.
Cons: The property is very old and worn, the building does not even have any sign indicating this is the Hostal. The shower was very old and the curtain yellow and stained. Dining room was not very clean either. According to the booking confirmation we should be able to pay with a credit card but on site we were told the machine was not working and we have to pay cash (which we did not count for). Overall, much worse standard than expected and than what we get at other places for the same price.
Pros: very authentic old house, very nice host that likes contact and helps when she can, home made breakfast, big bathroom
Cons: room was very full of furniture...two people could barely move around...we had the door open all the time, as soon as the big gas oven went out the house got very cold...felt like camping! the beds where uncomfortable/ old, all in all too expensive for what we got!
Pros: Reasonable price for Patagonia Location is OK
Cons: Rooms are uncomfortable - no heating, big air gap at window & cramped. Bed was uncomfortable with a thin mattress & very old pillows. Breakfast was below average. It proved impossible to pay with credit card & she insisted that we pay the consequent extra 19% tax.
Pros: Bed uncomfoetable, cold room, lack on insulation between rooms (you can hear noise from next room).
Cons: Facilita, Bed, and heating.
Pros: Really kind hostess that made us feel really welcome even though she didn't speak any english. The breakfast was awesome with homemade cake and bread!
Cons: Bedroom and bathroom can get pretty cold during winter.
Pros: One of the best places I stayed during my whole Chile/Argentina trip! The place is warm and so nice. You feel like a guest in someone's home (which actually is true) yet you have your privacy. You can taste some fuegian life there. The owner is very nice and she prepares very good breakfast. Wi-fi works just fine.
Cons: None. Everything's perfect.
Pros: Very nice and friendly lady take care of the guests. You feel like home.
