The hotel offers proper sit-down restaurants for all three meals, plus 24-hour room service, snacks at the beach, and plenty more restaurants at Catalonia Bavaro Beach. All meals at the main restaurant, Thalassa, are included in the normal all-inclusive package.
Rooms are spacious and clearly designed for couples with two-person whirlpools near king sized beds and showers without doors. Rooms also come with stocked minibars, terraces with views but not of the beach. Upgraded Junior Suite Deluxe Rooms are larger and closer to the beach.

Pros. This was my second trip this year and had a good time. It is a pleasant resort close to the beach with nice pools. Food and drinks are good and the staff is always pleasant. The "privileged" rooms are comfortable and well maintained. I don't know about the lower class of rooms.
Cons. My first visit was flawless but this time there was a major problem. The A/C failed in our room for 2 days of our visit. It became miserably damp due to the condensation of humidity. The bed was wet. Management never informed us about the problems and left us guessing.
Pros. Everything!
Pros. The entire resort was amazing, hard for me to explain how beautiful this resort is. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very nice and professional. Definitely a great place to go if you want to relax and just get away. This was my first time in Punta Cana, and I will return to this resort again before year end. The free Wi-Fi outside the room was a plus, you had signal everywhere. The food was better than I expected, there are a lot of restaurants (Options) to choose from. The best part is that you can eat at the sister resort as well, not reservations needed for any of them. Best vacation so far to the Dominican Republic.
Cons. The water pressure in the room was low later in the day (but I understand, being Dominican myself, that they try to conserve water). And I had some issues with the Wi-Fi signal in my room, outside worked great.
Pros. Food was actually incredible; it was almost the highlight of the trip! Staff was superbly friendly, and all the decor of the lounge areas and restaurants was splendidly top-notch. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to the DR!

I showed them my receipt that clearly stated catalonia royal bavaro. We waited and waited for hours until we were given a room, only to have to move to three rooms until we had a room that the air conditioner worked. Now it's 2am and we are tired. We came to celebrate our anniversary and mentioned it to the front desk when we checked in. I also sent an email to the hotel. We also brought 2 other couples with us to celebrate. Nobody cares. The food was horrible. The pool was chipping paint. Tiles at the pool were broken. The personal service was terrible. We travel around the world and this was the worst I have seen. I can keep going but what's the point!
