When we pick up the car, they did not want to grant the price per the reservation. He insisted that the system was showing 150 more of what the reservation was made. We had to insist for him to check with his manager for him to find a way to fix. At the end the manager told him to fix it. But his attitude was unkind.

The insurance we reserved was a joke. It was 10 dollars a day on the Kayak site only to find out when we got to the Hertz facility they wanted to charge more for insurance than the entire car rental price. We had 2 dents on the car that I told the hertz guy about. He saw them and agreed, but didn't add them to the damage sheet! So, at the other end, they are trying to charge us for dents that I have pictures of on my phone! The language barrier was a joke. If I have to pay for damage that was already on the car, I'll be coming back to Hertz for this.

We picked up our car at Punta Cana. We had been quoted a price of $233.39 and instead ended up paying $341.24. On arrival we were told that we couldn’t use our worldwide fully comprehensive car insurance (which we have used in the Caribbean, the USA and Europe with no problems). We then had to pay for Hertz insurance and, even though taxes were included in our original price, we were charged additional taxes. On top of that, we were given a battered car which was dirty. We hadn’t used Hertz for a while and decided to give them a try - it wasn’t a good experience at all.

Supplier choice

When I got to the counter there was nobody there so another company tried to call them and nobody answered. I waited 45 mins for a bus to go back to the rental car center. When I got there, there was no car available. They informed me that I could wait there until they got another car, which would probably be hours or they'd try to get me a rental with another company with the same rate. They came back with a rate $300 more than the rate I was quoted. It was an awful experience.

I will never use Sixt again. I pre-paid for a car rental. Two days before arrival I was informed that they had no cars, but they would help me - on arrival - to find a car from a different rental company. On arrival the desk in the terminal was unmanned. No one answered the phone at the other terminal. Only messages received were via WhatsApp. After over an hour I rented a car from a different rental firm. Sixt refused to initiate the refund until the day of my departure. The monies arrived today but the experience was awful.

We booked a car rental to be picked up at 9pm. The info we were sent said the rental place was open till 11. They actually closed at 7pm the girl said so we had to take a cab to our hotel then back to the rental place the next day to pick up the car. Plus still have not gotten a refund for the day we didn’t get the car

Interrent make their money from flogging you insurance. We bought a compact car for a week for $170 which was definitely too good to be true! The extra insurances they insisted you have cost an extra $190. And in addition the paperwork we received to start included a deposit of $170 which was reasonable, less so the deposit the pick up site demanded, of $800! The no-show up fee of $50 will be challenged but with the cabs to and from the hotel, was still cheaper than the extra insurances. Such a shame. Would not hire from interrent again.

I was overcharged and told I will get my deposit back ones I drop off the vehicle . Which never happened .When I did drop off the car , I was charged 19$ cleaning fee , which I was fine with .i asked if everything is fine , and they said YES!! After a couple days I didn’t get the refubd of my deposit . I reached out to them , called , got ignored. Messaged , after several messages someone answered me and said they will look into the „contract“ and get back to me . No one ever did . I reached out again , no respond . The advertisement said 170$ us .at the end is was charged 900+ Canadian dollars ! Such a rip off !! I understand to pay for insurance , additional drivers ok , no problem .but not getting back my deposit ???357$!!! I’m beyond upset !

This was an absolute horrible experience. I booked the car and the cost was $598. I arrived at the rental car facility and they said they no longer had that car available and they could give him an upgraded car for $1100 and that I had no other options. I tried to reach out to kayak. But you have no way of getting ahold of anyone. I will never be booking with kayak ever again. You are a 3rd party who does not care about the experience. You are not willing to do anything to make sure the experience goes smoothly. Horrible experience with Kayak and EUROPCAR.

Pickup and dropoff are dealt in the most inefficient time consuming way. Car was not ready at pickup time. counter agent did what she could to help but it took over an hour an a half to get vehicle. With insurance and deposit, cost of rental was excessive (time and ahalf the prie of the rental rate) Returning vehicle took 20 minutes. Rental terminal has a laughably small parking lot that is supposed to be both for pickup and dropoff for 6 or 7 different companies so even getting in and out is a mess

When picking up the car, we were a few hours late for pick up. They said they already rented out the car and we would have to take an upgrade, the upgrade would cost almost three times what the original rental cost was. I declined and went into emergency planning mode of where we could stay for the night with out a rental car and then find one in the morning. Once they realized that we were not going to pay for an upgrade, suddenly a downgrade was available. Which though it was not what I wanted, was a suitable option. We agreed to it, she said it would be 1/2 hour to get it cleaned/car wash, we waited. Then when we went out to the car, turns out it was not a downgrade it was the exact car we had booked to begin with, also, it was dry to the bone, so I have a feeling they did not wash it and the option we booked had been available all the time. Over all, it should not be that hard to pick up the car you initially booked with out additional fees. Then when going out to the car I took a video as I always do for proof of condition, and there were a considerable number of dents and scratches, including a crack in the windshield and the knob to the stereo missing. I explicitly asked her to mark those as issues on the carbon copy inspection paper and recorded them, and I am happy I did as they tried to change me for both of those upon returning the car. Over all this experience further solidified my belief that car rental agencies are sharks that are trying to scam every dollar out of you that they can. It is sad to have to play games like this when on vacation just to pick up a car you have already paid for.

I brought a valid car collision and anti theft insurance valid in Dominican Republic. The employee from Thrifty told me that I had to buy extra insurance from then and he didn’t give me the car. That employee was very rude and unhelpful. At the airport, the other rental car employees told us that that was a very common practice from thrifty and their personnel, because that’s how they make their commissions. PLEASE!!! Do not rent from this people!!!

Beware!!! Even if your insurance, or your credit card says you are covered for CDW in the DR, they will force you on arrival to buy CDW from thrifty DR. They claimed it was Thrifty policy. It cost almost as much as the original rental price. Beware!!

Pros:

There was no car for rental. Zero car available even though I got a confirmation from you.

Cons:

Very disappointing. Will never rent again through your site. Make sure there are cars available for clients.
